Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

Good morning all.
Apologies for the radio silence here, I have been reading but not commenting.
Fingers crossed for IvyCat.
It's not been a good week, the PIL are staying, to celebrate SIL's birthday. And they are fussy eaters who nag (why aren't you eating bread/carbs until dinner/alcohol
Can't have Wine or Gin but have been having a couple of squares of chocolate a night, once they have gone to bed.
Weight-in today: 98.4 kg.
Whilst that is only 0.5 kg off in the last week, I'll take that. Had to eat lots of cake (be rude not to) and my morning walks have been curtailed. Another 1 cm off my waist circumference though, a couple more weeks and I might be into double figures.
Given how well things had been going, it's hard not to be disappointed by a small loss, but got to think of the larger picture.
1.6 off since the start of July, 12.6 kg off since April. I've lost almost 8cm from my waist, and friends are commenting on my weight loss. I had the target of getting to 100 kg by the end of term and there are still 2 weeks left and I'm 1.6 kg under.
So, onwards and upwards (or downwards?) Off for a nice walk in a few minutes, whilst everyone else on the house is asleep!
Have a good day Flowers for those who need them.

cricketmum84 · 10/07/2019 06:37

I didn't have much sleep either @WantLifeToBeBetter . Far too worried about Ivy's blood tests today and what they will bring.

I don't really know what's going to happen today. I'm only at work until 12.30 but what happens after that is totally down to the blood tests. I'm either going out with my sister for the afternoon for her birthday as planned, bringing Ivy home or going for last cuddles.

Sorry if my head is a bit all over the place today. I don't have a food plan or anything in place as everything is so up in the air.

Hope everyone has a good day xx

Fingers crossed for good news re Ivycat.

Howlongtillbedtime · 10/07/2019 07:06

cricketmum I really hope you get good news today. What a tough time to come of the ads Flowers

I am off on a sponsored walk today so that should burn off some lard hopefully.
I think this is the longest I have stuck to a 'diet' for a very long time. I know I have got a long way to go but I feel I am getting there.

I hope everyone has a fab day.

Millie2018 · 10/07/2019 07:31

Morning all. Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits and fruit
L. Egg salad
D. Chicken and vegetables
Snacks: Costa coffee
Exercise: swimming for an hour
Have a good day everyone. Will be looking for your update @cricketmum84

BrillyPribble · 10/07/2019 07:44

Disappointing weigh-in today, gone back up to 13st 9.5. at this rate I'll be pleased to lose 1lb in July never mind 7.

Fingers crossed for Ivy's results today, it must be such a stressful time for you.

OhTheRoses · 10/07/2019 08:41

12/8-1/2 this morning. A satisfying low. Just need to keep it there.

Very much hope your day pans out well cricketmum

lightlypoached · 10/07/2019 09:06

@cricket.

60.9 /23% (not sure that's right!)

Up early today to travel to mums. Get her post-op cancer results today so am nervous.

Decided to have a free day so have just eaten bread (still warm) and jam for breakfast.
Out for a work do tonight so will have a 3 course plus wine.
Will try to avoid lunch but might have it if I feel hungry.

Have a good day all.

lemonbalmtea · 10/07/2019 09:18

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 10/07/2019 10:05

Thanks for Vebrithien for the in-law houseguest struggles, & for poor cricket waiting for Ivycat's results.

I hope your mum gets the all-clear lightlypoached!

I've been for a run this morning, & got VERY sweaty.

B: yoghurt, nuts etc
L: steak & salad.

Enjoy Wednesday everyone.

Louise7777 · 10/07/2019 10:15

Morning all. I've weighed this morning and 6 lb loss so far since July 1st. Im sure to start with it's mostly water?? But I'm really chuffed. I hadn't lost anything since lo arrived 15 months ago. I already feel better too which is keeping me motivated. Tracking with my fitnesspal and running 3 times a week once lo in bed. I'll no doubt catch another cough or cold soon lo likes to collect germs from nursery and pass to me and he currently has an awful cough. If I've got a cold all I do is eat!! Lol

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 10/07/2019 10:32

12.6 kg off since April. I've lost almost 8cm from my waist

Jeepers @verbrithien that’s living the dream right there, that’s awesome

Vebrithien · 10/07/2019 12:29

Grin Thank you Miles and Paul. It's good to remember the positives!

And on a positive, PIL have gone out on their own for the afternoon, so I'm planning a nap whilst DD naps. When they come back, they're going to watch DD so me and DH can go out for a meal together. It'll be our first meal out 'alone' since DD was born. She is 3 next month...!

(PIL are not all bad, just very wearing in large doses, at this point of the term and whilst pregnant!)

cricketmum84 · 10/07/2019 13:08

Not great news I'm afraid. Blood tests have shown the kidney markets have raised slightly since being off the fluids and she has refused her food this morning.

We are picking her up this evening and bringing her home for palliative care. Medication, lots of love and the poshest posh cat food we can buy. She can sleep on any bed she wants! Back Friday for blood tests to see how she is coping.

The vet said we could have her for days, weeks or months. There's really no way to tell as cats deal with kidney failure so differently.

Millie2018 · 10/07/2019 13:18

Oh gosh @cricketmum84, so sorry it’s not more positive.
Hopefully she will benefit from being back in her home environment. I don’t have any advice to offer, other then lots of cuddles this week and be kind to yourself, this is so very hard.

Wellthatwastricky · 10/07/2019 13:31

I'm so sorry cricket, what crappy news. I don't know if it's relevant to Ivy's condition, or something you'd consider, but in the past we have administered fluids to our cat at home (everything provided by the vet) where you inject into their scruff (it's called sub-cutting). It helps prevent them from the downward spiral cats get into once their dehydrated as they usually stop eating as soon as they become dehydrated. Something to ask about, maybe.

I'm having a serious will power slump today. Desperately want to just go "fuck it" and gorge on something sugary. Holding off, must...not...give...in.

cricketmum84 · 10/07/2019 13:34

@Wellthatwastricky yes that's definitely something I'm going to mention to them tonight.

I was a trainee vet nurse for 3 years before I had kids so although it was a long time ago I really wouldn't have any issues administering sc fluids. X

I am so sorry about the news Cricket.

Wellthatwastricky · 10/07/2019 13:47

Sorry cricket, my last post reads as quite patronising and if you trained as a vet nurse you're going to know a LOT more about it BlushI hope it's something the vet is open to. Fingers crossed.

cricketmum84 · 10/07/2019 14:01

@Wellthatwastricky no it didn't at all. I certainly didn't read it as patronising! Any and all advice gratefully recieved with love xx

Phew!

PeriComoToes · 10/07/2019 16:25

Just had a glass of wine with a very late lunch of duck salad (starter size). First drink in 2 weeks and am feeling a bit squiffy 😮 A few weeks ago I would have had another and probably another) but I'm going to get the bill and leave. It was very nice but I'm drawing a line and not getting sucked into the 'fuck it' zone.

3dogs2cats · 10/07/2019 16:50

@cricketmum84 Miracles are rare but In the end , we love them and they love us, and even if we lose them too early that love happened and was a good thing, and in its own way a miracle. I’m sure she has enriched your family in so many ways, through some very tough times.

lightlypoached · 10/07/2019 17:27

Oh @cricket I wish you had had better news. Fingers and paws crossed that ivy is one of the little ones who just keeps on healing herself.

Give her lots of hugs from us alll xxx

I had better news in that my my mum is declared cancer free Smile with only monitoring needed now. A huge relief. We cried and headed down to the seaside for a celebratory lunch of a locally caught cod sarnie with chips. Utterly delicious (See the picture together with one of a positive message I wanted to share).

Now off to a hotel do in a posh hotel. So just the 3 courses to wade through. And a bucket of fizz.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 10/07/2019 18:42

So sorry @cricketmum84

Nothing to report today barring my friend brought over a tub of fecking HARIBO.

I have to get rid. Where I live in Scotland they’re hardcore about recycling. Just can’t tell if it’d count as food waste or plastic.
