Following on from previous themread and on the lovely @VivaFridas behalf I welcome you all to half a stone off for June!

Welcome to all and good luck for the month ahead. I hereby promise to inject a little enthusiasm into each morning and stay away from the Greggs Vegan rolls.

Old and new joiners welcome, whatever diet or exercise plan you are following. All I ask for is positivity towards others even if we are feeling a bit meh about ourselves.

Who's in and ready for day 1 tomorrow!

Hi Ladies brand new to mumsnet because of this post! I'm desperate to shed some pounds. I was a healthy 12stone for my height and build, then I met my husband. Baby no3 now a year old and I'm 15 stone and miserable! My extra weight is causing havoc with my Fibro myalgia and now I've discovered a heart issue so I need to get my diet and weight sorted! Hoping for a steady slow loss but trying to motivate my husband too. So a stone would be great to start!

Cerealkillers · 01/06/2019 06:32

Can I join you all too, need some motivation to step away from the biscuits....

coefficientquery · 01/06/2019 07:11

Hi, please can I join you all? I spotted the thread title when I had just said the exact same thing to myself!

I have fluctuated between 10 and 11stone for the past 3 years, and am at the top of that again now. I am a mature student and biscuits have helped me through my exams, but not helped my weight!

I usually run 3 times a week, but that went out of the window too. I went shopping yesterday and have a holiday in 7 weeks and can't get enthusiastic about it feeling like this about my weight.

So today is the start of no snacking, and tracking food on nutracheck. I am going for a run this morning, and really need to get motivated to keep in the zone for June.

I had to buy new bras yesterday as I am too fat for my old ones, and have ignored it long enough Blush.

Hoping to get inspiration from you guys to keep with it!

TomatoLeaf · 01/06/2019 07:14

Can I join you all? I lost 2kg in May calorie counting but I know what I am like and will need a kick up the arse to keep going.

OhTheRoses · 01/06/2019 07:29

I could weep. A fuck it Friday wine fest and chilli has put me up 1.5lb since yesterday morning.

April loss 7lb
May loss a fucktastic 2-1/4lb

Really though the plateau was about to unplateau. All my own fault and I have a headache as a result.

Fatty92 · 01/06/2019 07:51

Can I join in please. My aim for this month is to lose at least 5kg. I'm currently 119kg. I'm going to try exercise and eating healthy. Wish me luck and I'll keep you guys posted.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 01/06/2019 07:55

I'm joining; I dropped 3 kg in May (73 kg to 70 kg) and I'd like to drop another 3 kg.

Just remember that going for a big wee will shed you about 300 g!

hugofish21 · 01/06/2019 08:00

Sick of being overweight. 15st and would love to be 12st. Weight has gone up and down over the years. Need motivation.

Startoftheyear2019 · 01/06/2019 08:12

Thanks so much @cricketmum84, I really hoped it would be you taking on @VivaFrida's baton. I'm glad I followed the May thread but I didn't really lose anything. If I don't in June then there's a pile of clothes that I won't be able to fit into for the summer. I'll start again today - avoiding snacking and trying to use MFP to calorie count. Off to the gym now Smile

Wellthatwastricky · 01/06/2019 08:21

Hello! I'm back in for another month. Thank you so much Viva for driving the last one, and cricket for taking on the mantle.

So to summarise, I lost 9lb in May. I still have a minimum of 2 stone to lose, my absolute ideal though would be in the region of 35lb off.

I've been off the wagon for birthday celebrations and know I've gained back at least 1.5lbs. This weekend is a write off but I'll be back on it on from Monday.

Good luck everyone.

BrillyPribble · 01/06/2019 08:35

Thanks cricketmum for starting the thread. I've weighed for the start of the month this morning and am at 14st 1.75lbs so aiming for 13st 8.75lb by the end of June.
Family birthdays to get out of the way this weekend, then a nice straightforward month for me I hope.
Sticking to the MFP calorie tracking and roughly aiming for 16:8. At it's most basic though I'm trying to go by 'Eat when you are hungry, stop when you are full'. So ridiculously simple but something I really struggle with. Fortunately my DH is a big motivator as he eats fantastically healthily and never snacks on anything other than fruit.

Newstart40 · 01/06/2019 08:40

Urgh weigh in at 13st 9.8lbs - officially my heaviest ever. This is the first and last time I see this number on the scales!

What's everyone doing to lose the weight this month? I am planning on dropping carbs and following 5:2.

Fluffiest · 01/06/2019 08:49

OK. Starting weight is 10st4. My first mini goal is to drive that down to 10st. I went for a run yesterday. But today my plan is to simply be up and moving. Housework, gardening, walk with DD.

lightlypoached · 01/06/2019 08:55

@newstart40 I'm planning on 5:2 and stopping all snacking (no one needs to snack). my weak points are

  1. wine every day (bad for me in so many ways)
  2. eating cheese whilst drinking the wine (ok sometimes but not 3-4 times a week)
  3. not enough veggies
  4. travelling with work so hard to keep consistency in diet
  5. travelling/long hours meaning regular exercise is hard to come by.

I can't solve all of those, but most are under my control. here's to having comfy trousers by the end of the month!

thanks to @cricket for the thread

cricketmum84 · 01/06/2019 09:02

Good morning to all our newbies, oldies and lurkers! And welcome to

❤️ Day 1 ❤️

I found the quote below and thought it was pretty apt for everyone starting the new diet today. It's really as simple as that - it hit me when we came back from holiday last November, I just didn't want to be that person anymore.

I have been following ww online since 19th December and have now lost 4 stone 12. I've still got 8 stone to go and while it seems a hell of a lot these monthly threads from Viva have kept me motivated and on track by breaking my big goal into little goals!

I also went veggie/ mostly vegan about 6 weeks ago which has definitely helped with my losses - so you may see me occasionally rambling about chickpeas and tofu 😂

Today's food will mostly be fruit and raw veg for snacks as I'm out for a meal tonight. I'm a bit nervous as it's with a group of ladies from an online networking group I joined to make some friends and I haven't met any of them in real life before!! We are going to a vegetarian Indian that's won some quite prestigious awards and I've wanted to go for ages but haven't had anyone that would go with me so I'm really looking forward to the food!

Good luck to everyone starting out today. Remember every single day is one step closer to your goal!

Much love ❤️

ooooohbetty · 01/06/2019 09:06

Hello. I'm joining in. Lots about 3lbs this week. I'm trying the 16:8 which is actually working out at 14:8 due to my inability to not a biscuit in bed at night.

EmmaCB1 · 01/06/2019 09:15

Thanks for the new thread Cricketmum! I didn't join last month but followed along with you all and managed to lose 2.4kg using My Fitness Pal.

I'm 60.9kg now and my target weight is 57kg which is what I weighed in 2012 and again in 2015. I've noticed my metabolism has slowed right down in the last few years post-40 and I can no longer eat whole packs of biscuits and not notice a gain. MFP is really helping me understand the nutritional value of food, and control my portion sizes.

I go for a run or do a HIIT class at home every other day and tend to eat the extra calories rather than save them as I do get hungry, but I'm making much better choices using the app. I've also noticed that I'm consistently under eating protein and over eating sugar (from fruit) so in June I'm going to work on that.

Good luck this month everyone! It's great to have so many (virtual) accountability partners!

MaryBoBary · 01/06/2019 09:15

Hello, I'm going to join this thread too! Have been waiting for a new one to start.

I've been on a diet for 2 weeks now and lost 7lb. I am only eating 3 times per day, lots of fruit and eating nothing after 6pm. Also drinking lots of water. I have a physical job that I do for 3 hours per night 6 days per week. My weight as of yesterday was 10 stone 5lb. Want to lose about a stone more I think but mainly want to be a size 10! My wobbly old mum tum is my main problem and with a now 3 year old I am well past blaming my weight on pregnancy!

LooseAtTheSeams · 01/06/2019 09:25

Cricketmum - your new veggie Indian place sounds fab. I went vegan for January but liked the food so much I've stuck to it!
This thread is very motivating - thanks!

giddybiddy · 01/06/2019 09:28

Please may I join.. 11 stone 11 and need to lose at least a stone... thinking ww might be the way forward.

chocatoo · 01/06/2019 09:32

Hello. I have lost just over 1 stone since January but am really struggling with motivation and weight loss has stalled. I weigh between 16 and 16.5 stones (goes up and down). I particularly struggle mid to late afternoons and could do with some strategies to help then. I tend to lapse, then goes downhill in the evening.

WhenDoISleep · 01/06/2019 09:46

Weighing in this morning at 14st 6.75lbs - I have completely sabotaged myself since Christmas and put on around 20lbs, which is the weight I lost last year. Now we are heading into summer and I am once again a fat lump baking in my jeans because none of my summer clothes fit. I will start looking after myself from today.

BrokenWing · 01/06/2019 10:09

Brilliant first day quote 👌. My "didn't did want to feel like that anymore" 🤔 came when I had to start taking high blood pressure tablets. I always knew I was eating my way to a future of bad health, but starting the tablets is now a daily reminder of what I am doing to my heart 💔

Slowpokeslimmer · 01/06/2019 10:09

I would like to join in. I lurked on the May thread and it inspired me to get started and I lost 7 pounds. I weighed in this morning at 12 .11. I am tracking on mfp, aiming for between 1200 and 1500 calories per day. I am a couch potato but trying to walk the dog a few times a week.
