As our old thread was almost full, here's a shiny new thread.
If there are any lurkers about, please do come and join us - we are a friendly, relaxed bunch. Although, hopefully not too relaxed as we need to see results
Summer is just around the corner, so let's do this...!

It’s amazing to read of your progress Stealth! What an incredible moment to be able to buy a size 8 and compare it to the size 18! Flowers

I’m interested to follow and hear how the 5:2 goes Hounds because I’m wondering if it’s something I should try.

I’ve been for a run and a swim today. I’ve realised that I need to get going again if I’m going to make a significant difference by the summer.

TheHoundsofLove · 07/05/2019 19:04

Well done for getting back in the saddle When ! I know what you mean about needing to crack on. I will keep you informed about how 5:2 is going - it's an eating day today! Grin
Stealth Don't be hard on yourself - I bet you look gorgeous!

I'm having another fast day today. Am planning to keep myself busy and then just have a 500 calorie dinner - probably a smoked salmon and feta omelette.
I hope that everyone else is getting on okay? This thread is getting awfully quiet...

OP posts:
WhenCanISleepAgain · 08/05/2019 12:25

Thank you Hounds! Hope your fast day is passing quickly. I’ve found some old photos of me roughly a stone lighter than I am now and so I’m using that for my renewed motivation. Snacks (chocolate biscuits) are my downfall so we’ve agreed to go back to not having any in the house for the foreseeable future.

Fiontar649 · 08/05/2019 17:57

Folks - I have not gone totally AWOL, but I haven't had time to catch up much recently. Work is still fucking awful busy, and I have been taking stuff home most nights. I will catch up soon, I promise Blush

TheHoundsofLove · 08/05/2019 18:04

It's probably the best idea, When - I can't keep chocolate biscuits in the house as I would have a couple half a packet with every cup of tea!
Second fast day is done and has been fine. I'm planning to run 10k tomorrow morning so need to experiment with breakfasts. I don't usually eat before running as it makes me feel really heavy and a bit sick. But, I don't think I'll be able to manage without anything.

OP posts:
TheHoundsofLove · 11/05/2019 07:27

I hope that everyone has had a good week. Are you managing to get some chill-out time this weekend Fiontar ? - sounds like you need it!
Well, I've lost another lb this week, bringing my total to 1 stone and 6lbs... I will hopefully hit the all elusive 1 and a half stones marker next Saturday! Grin About bloody time!

StealthNinjaMum · 11/05/2019 07:38

Hi everyone. I have been too busy to weigh myself until this morning. I'm pleased that I have lost .9lbs so I am down to 135.6 lbs. It's been a stressful week with one poorly child (fortunately better now) and ex being a twat (I should be used to it but for some reason he has really annoyed me this week.)

Anyway I had a couple of soup and salad days and a couple of days where I ate dcs pasta leftover and felt really bad about it. Fortunately it hasn't stopped the weightloss.

when I never have anything fattening in the house - even savoury stuff like breadsticks will be eaten by me in vast quantities. I'm always amazed at people who have a biscuit tin or treat cupboard. It's good that you have some motivating photos. You can back to that weight.

hounds I'm watching you with interest. I love the idea of fasting but other than when ex moved out have never really managed it. I hope your run went well. Yay to 1 1/2 stone, you'll hit it.

fiontar thats a shame you're busy. I think the hardest time to diet is when you're busy but just keep going or starting again? You'll get there.

CarrotPuff · 11/05/2019 17:02

I'm still here. I've finally saw 10.9 again this morning. Quite positive that I'll start losing again this month, although I'm gearing up for AF now.

Just came back from 9 mile run. That would have burned some calories 😂

Fiontar649 · 11/05/2019 17:46

Hi everyone! I am having a nice lazy day today, catching up on some bits around the house. Another few busy weeks ahead, but I am treading water pretty well. Maintaining but no losing 🤷‍♀️ I can live with that!

StealthNinjaMum · 11/05/2019 20:18

Hello again. Had a good day. Jacket potato for lunch and soup for dinner.

TheHoundsofLove · 12/05/2019 10:44

Glad to hear that everyone is still plodding on! Grin
Fiontar I agree with Stealth - losing weight is so hard when you're super busy. I find that planning what to eat and when to exercise and then making sure to keep on track takes up quite a bit of headspace, really.
In a way, that is why I really like the idea of fasting - I only have to really think about it for 2 days and I don't even have to think about it much for those 2 days as I only eat 1 meal. I got on really well with it last week, so will continue and see how things pan out. I was mostly concerned about it not fitting with my exercise, but I managed my 10k fine on Thursday and then have done 16k this morning without any problems. So, it seems to be fine!

OP posts:
StealthNinjaMum · 16/05/2019 18:14

Hello. How is everyone? I have lost 1lb. Am down to 134.5lb which is what I was a month ago!

Will just keep plodding on.

TheHoundsofLove · 19/05/2019 05:56

That's great Stealth - at least you've undone the damage! 🙂
I'm still plodding on too - am very nearly at my 1.5 stone mark. It seems to be excruciatingly slow progress, but I guess that I'm heading in the right direction. Hmm
It's a shame that this thread's become so quiet - I've found it so motivating! Without it, I might have gone even slower! 😂

StealthNinjaMum · 20/05/2019 09:49

I'll try to update more hounds I have had real problems with my wifi and mumsnet less.

I have had a 'whoosh effect' whereby I am now down to 131.8lbs without trying particularly hard - in fact I drunk a bottle of wine Saturday night and I never do that. That's almost 4lbs in a week which is crazy when you're my low weight. I've been eating lots of salads and not tracking on mfp. The main thing is I don't have a big appetite. I had a massive lunch yesterday, no dinner and no breakfast today because I still feel full. I think that naturally skinny, mindful people must just be like this. That's not to say that I have made myself into a naturally skinny person, I will always have to struggle with this.

TheHoundsofLove · 20/05/2019 14:28

I genuinely don't think that many people over the age of about 35, especially those who like food and wine (which is basically everyone that I know) are truly effortlessly slim. There might be the odd one (my dad), but everyone else who I'm close enough with to really know their eating habits, has to put a degree of effort in. Even friends who have never been particularly overweight will put the odd half a stone or so on and then have to reign it in. Or they're really heavily into exercise.

OP posts:
CarrotPuff · 20/05/2019 20:26

I'm still here too, sorry I'll try to update more often too.

I'm still hovering around 10.9, sometimes go up a couple lbs and then lose them. However, I'm pretty sure I've lost another pound or so, my stomach feels flatter, but the scales haven't quite caught up yet.

TheHoundsofLove · 21/05/2019 08:57

Carrot Snap - you're my weight loss twin! Grin How's the running going? I agree - I feel slimmer, even though I've not particularly lost much in the last couple of weeks - I'm definitely losing more inches than weight!

OP posts:
StealthNinjaMum · 21/05/2019 09:53

I'm down to 130.5 which is 5lbs in a week.

It wasn't intentional but just like at the start of the year ex leaving made me anxious I think the same is happening again. I just haven't felt hungry. I think I have created a new busy life and I have lots of things on so it's not bad anxiety in the sense that my heart was breaking in January. It's kind of good / busy anxiety but feels light years away from the days I'd be a comfort eater and eat two tubes of pringles. Added to everything I have dated a new man who might see me naked and I am finding that stressful.

Anyway I am ok I don't want anyone to worry I just don't have a space to talk about this in real life. I am very self aware at the moment and thoughtful. I also think my brain needs to catch up with my body as I am slim now and my date even described me as small. My target theoretically is 125 but should I stop? I don't know what I want. Lots to think about.

CarrotPuff · 21/05/2019 12:24

Hounds, it's going great, thanks! I'm totally hooked, and finding it pretty easy now. Went for a "short" midweek 5 mile run yesterday, and totally aced it!

Maybe I should take measurements too, but I just cba 😄

Stealth be kind to yourself 💐 you're your worst critic, I'm sure you look amazing. How tall are you? My ultimate goal is 8.5st, which is 119lbs, but tbh anything under 9st would be amazing. I'm 5ft4, and quite small, although I've got wide hips.

TheHoundsofLove · 21/05/2019 13:55

Carrot You should! It's motivating, even when the scales are being stubborn.
Stealth I think it depends on how you feel... Ideal weight is such a personal thing isn't it? Depends on individual frame, fat percentage, how your weight is distributed etc...
My goal is 8st10. However, I may adjust it as, like I've said, I am losing proportionately more inches. So, I'm 10st 9 now and a smallish size 12. I did make myself a skirt on Saturday and had to cut a size 10 as my hips are pretty slim now from all the running. I want to be an 8-10 (depending on shop and how much they vanity size), so will stop when I reach that point.
Stealth If I were you, I would focus on eating nutritious meals and see where your natural finish point is.

OP posts:
TheHoundsofLove · 21/05/2019 13:57

I'm 5' 3 by the way.

OP posts:
WhenCanISleepAgain · 21/05/2019 18:01

Making nutritious food choices a focus may be an idea stealth? I’m not sure what else advise but it is amazing to see how you’ve battled through and are no longer drawn to comfort eat.
Amazing running carrot and Hounds! That’s fantastic and you’re progress is brilliant Hounds

StealthNinjaMum · 23/05/2019 23:33

carrotpuff I'm 5 ft 4 so same as you. How did you come up with that target? Is it just where you were happy before?

Good advice hounds and whencan I actually haven't been eating well enough. It's just general busyness but I do take vitamins some days.

CarrotPuff · 24/05/2019 08:47

Yes, I've been there before although that was 10 years ago 🙈 I have weighed 9st on the nose before I got pg with my DD though (4 years ago) and I felt I could lose a bit more. So I'll be happy with anything under 9st really.

I'm 10.8.0 this morning, woohoo! Even saw a glimpse of 10.7.something. I know it won't last, but it still means I'm losing!
