Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

A mixture of things I think Singapore
I feel quite hungry for a start, I don't think I'm eating enough protein.
I'm craving sugar, because I had some at the weekend it's triggered it all off again.
I'm sick of the mental load already, thinking of food, cooking it then all the clear up.
Need to have a think of some easy prep healthy meals that are cheap
Also it's chucking it down so I've got cabin fever with DD. We're both bored! Rainy trip to the park I think.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 12/03/2019 14:44

Fox you got this after a wobbly couple of weeks I'm now seeing results. I was feeling very low but this group helped loads!

I did a quick check in weigh and I'm now 11st 6.8lbs

Loss of 10.2lbs

Don't give in I nearly did and I would have been disappointed not to see this loss XX

AdventureTravelDreamer · 12/03/2019 14:56

Whatthefox it is difficult and I think everyone has a wobble now and again. I totally understand about the weather, it has been miserable here too but actually just stopped raining so hopefully you got out of the house in the dry!

I decided this morning that I was going to go easy on myself today as if I get too pissed off with the whole thing I will just throw in the towel but actually think I may have Thurs as a less restricted day instead as I have a big family meal that night so may want some leeway for a glass or two of Prosecco.

I would say give yourself a couple of days where you eat healthy but satisfying food and don't calorie count. What do you really enjoy? Let us know and we may be able to suggest some ways to keep it a bit lower calorie. Or have a small bar of chocolate (curly wurly is only 118 cals and hits the spot for me) or something that will make you feel less deprived.

Anyway I'm going to stop waffling but hope you hang in there!

ZsaZsaMc · 12/03/2019 15:01

I agree fox don’t give up! I usually do somewhere in week 3 or 4 as this is when the weight loss slows down to a more normal 1lb a week and when I start to get bored. But I’m determined to keep going!

Fox are you factoring treats for yourself? To be enjoyed guilt free!

SingaporeSlinky · 12/03/2019 15:02

whatthefox it’s frustrating isn’t it. I’ve got my period and have been eating everything in sight, and like you said, I think having sugar has made me want more. But I know it will pass, and in a few days I’ll be more motivated. Don’t give up. Remember why you wanted to lose weight. I know it can feel like you’re thinking about food, or calories, all the time. But cooking and clearing up are things you’d have to do anyway. Could you involve DD or is she too young? Could you use vegetables to make smiley faces on a plate for you both? Cucumber eyes, carrot nose, I’m sure if you google you’ll find loads of fun things to try, and get her helping, to make food fun again rather than a restrictive thing?

I’m carrying some water weight, have jumped 2lbs but I know it will come off in the next few days, hopefully in time for day 14 weigh in.
On the plus, I just tried on some jeans that I’ve not worn for probably 15 years and they fit! So happy, I never wanted to throw them away as they were my favourite jeans ever, and I still like how I look in them when I see old photos. And I can’t believe they fit me again!

Hi all,

I'm a bit late to the party as only started yesterday but will give the half a stone a shot!

I'm 8 week pp and want to lose at least 1.5 stone.

whatthefoxsaid · 12/03/2019 18:48

Thanks for the support! I appreciate it. I think I'm just a bit overwhelmed (my back is sore too) and it feels like an extra hassle, but you're quite right when you say I'd have to prep and clean anyway.
Managed to get out this afternoon although it did hail on us.
DD is too small to help in the kitchen yet (only 18m) but she helps me in that I need to provide her healthy, nutritious meals so I have to shop and cook regardless!
I'm not calorie counting so I shouldn't be finding this as hard as I am! Don't factor in treats though, I don't really deserve them as I'm not really restricting, just eating more veg and not snacking. Maybe this way lies failure though?! Maybe it would be better to count more so I can have a treat built in..

TheInvestigator · 12/03/2019 18:50

@mrsed1987

Hello! Don't worry; I only got back into it on Monday as well, so still aiming for half a stone this month but not going to be upset if I'm a couple of lbs short.

mrsed1987 · 12/03/2019 20:45

I honestly forgot how easy it is! Had a love salt and pepper pork for dinner, no syns and loads of veg. Looking forward a cup of tea and treats for my remaining 9 syns later

thisonebreath · 12/03/2019 20:54

I've had a bit of an unmotivated day today. I didn't do the shred because I ran out of time before I took dd swimming and by the time I got back I was starving. Combined with the cold weather I just couldn't be arsed. I had chicken and vegetable soup ... Followed by cheese on toast. Blush Them this evening I kinda the thought fuck it. I had homemade bacon and leek risotto but also had some chocolate bourbons and a glass of wine. TBH I've felt quite exhausted today so am wondering, because I'm breastfeeding, if I need to up my calories.

AdventureTravelDreamer · 12/03/2019 22:58

I may have opened a bottle of Prosecco Shock

mrsed1987 · 12/03/2019 23:02

Lovely. Im sat downstairs with the baby as my husband is back to work tomorrow after 3 months off!

nos123 · 13/03/2019 00:37

just placemaking as I have very bad eating habits and people are coming up with really good breakfast, lunch and dinner combinations. I often skip breakfast and lunch while I’m busy through the day and then eat continuously through the evening. I also drink a lot of my calories...I always grab a mocha while I’m out

VivaFrida · 13/03/2019 06:37

Good morning! Writing from the train as I am working "in the field" today (love it as it makes me sound like a travelling farmer).

Wednesday is WI day: and I lost 1.3kg (2.8 pounds) this week!
Star Star Star Star Star !

It has been a really good week, i have been eating well, not felt hungry (well sometimes in the evening I felt like having a sweet snack, but more like wanting it rather than needing it if you get my drift).

So these are my stats:

Week 2
Starting day: Wednesday 27 February
Starting weight: 70.3 kg BMI: 25.8 (overweight)
Week 1: 69.7kg BMI 25.6 (overweight)
Week 2: 68.4 kg BMI 25.1 (overweight)

So basically - inshallah - next week I should get down to healthy weight!

These will be my milestones:

  • BMI under 25: 'normal'
  • BMI 22.5: slap bang in healthy range!
  • BMI 19-21: my very own best, happiest and fittest weight.

Have a great day all!

VivaFrida · 13/03/2019 06:50

nos123 hot drinks on the go are also my problem. I just like freshly ground coffee with hot frothy milk too much!! Unfortunately I have anxiety issues and am really bad with caffeine so I have switched on to milky earl grey (only in the morning so does not disturb my sleep - and one, max two if I have a really early start), I still feel like I have a treat but the milk is negligible and the calories/points/whatever you are counting minimal.

Hello to mrsed1987 , AdventureTravelDreamer, thisone TheInvestigator and all the crowd - special thoughts to those who are struggling and huge Star to those who are persevering.

Bon courage whatthefoxsaid - and, do you like cooking? I find that trying new recipes and adapting them to my new way of eating is so much fun! Playing with spices, herbs and new interesting vegetables.

Have a look at this website: skinnykitchensecrets.com - it is geared towards weight watchers but calories or other systems should be easy enough to calculate.

SingaporeSlinky I am the same with period, hungry, water retention... I also get slightly mental even more mental than my usual, which is quite a lot

TickVG · 13/03/2019 07:26

Fab loss Viva! Yay, and positive vibes this morning to everyone! I am definitely going to look into those slow cooker paste pots - they look right up my street and I can hopefully get in Tesco. I had a bit of 'controlled' comfort food during the rainy afternoon yesterday - it was just toooo miserable! I am super happy this morning though to have reached another mini milestone- I've got through the 10 stone barrier- as of today I'm 9 stone 13. On 5 dec (a few days after giving birth) I was 13 stone 12! So 55lbs lost and am now below my pre pregnancy weight. My weightloss has still not slowed down significantly yet, and I used to really struggle to lose much below this weight so I'm expecting things to slow down now. 5lb more to go! Smile

whatthefoxsaid · 13/03/2019 07:28

I weighed today and have stayed the same. I feel like my period is due (cycles all over while I settle on the mini pill but the heavy/hungry/teariness gives it away!) so I don't mind, just pleased I've not gained!
I did/do like cooking. Sometimes it's hard to spend time on it with DD as she gets hangry at tea time! But I do keep trying new things home cooked. We love Thai food and I made a Thai red curry last week in 12 minutes flat so it can be done if I'm organised! Have a good day all.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 13/03/2019 07:35

Morning all 😁😁 my back feels so much better today. Not 100% but 100% better! Yippee!!

Been having an egg mushrooms and tomato for breakfast. Smidgeon on oil and steaming at the end to cook through.

Keeping me a bit fuller and mushrooms have almost no calories and high in vitamin D which I'm deficient in. Win win 😁

At work until 2pm. Then I'm going to do some Wii fit yoga and games. Then housework. What's everyone else's day like?

999caffeineplease · 13/03/2019 07:52

Well done everyone on their losses Star
I’ve decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and just knuckle down.

Today while I was waiting for everyone else to finish in the bathroom (staying with my parents for work) I hopped on my old exercise bike and did a bit of pedalling, and I’ve prepared a nice healthy breakfast and lunch. I used to drink only green tea or water but that’s definitely gone out the window so I’ve bought myself a 2l bottle and I’ll carry that round with me during the day aswell.

pepguardi · 13/03/2019 08:00

So I started March at 9st 11 and I've now got to my end of March goal which was 9st 5.

HOWEVER, I haven't done this in the healthiest way as I was poorly on Sunday/Monday so didn't eat much.

My aim now is just to maintain this and anything extra off is a bonus. 5lbs from target weight!

TheInvestigator · 13/03/2019 08:15

On Monday, I was 11st12. Today I'm 11st10.5. So 1.5lbs over 2 days. Will weigh again on Friday, and continue weighing every 2 days just to keep a good track of it.

glenthebattleostrich · 13/03/2019 09:03

Morning,

Well done on the loses everyone.

I started 2 weeks ago at 15stone. Today I'm 14 st 4lb. Pleased with that. I'm aiming for another 4lb by the end of the month. I go on holiday in 4 weeks and would like to have dropped about half a stone by then.

pepguardi · 13/03/2019 10:02

Well done @glenthebattleostrich and @TheInvestigator

999caffeineplease · 13/03/2019 10:12

I've decided to aim for 1200-1400 cals a day, any less and I start to go a bit mental.
Made a smoothie for breakfast with whey protein, semi skimmed milk, some oats and some walnuts (about 200 cals) and having tuna, a bit of mayo, some lettuce and tomatoes and some rice cakes for lunch (mfp says just under 300 cals).
I think I'll have some kind of chicken and rice thing for tea - aiming for about 400 cals, so that will leave me space for a shake/snack after my run tonight as well. I'm going easy on myself and hoping for a loss of 4lbs in March due to starting late and also having my dissertation due at the end of it (hello emotional eating)!!
