Anyone starting a new diet tomorrow? Want to be diet buddies? Im 14st7lb my heaviest ever at 5ft4. Need some motivation and willpower. Going to be doing meal substitution with shakes twice a day to kickstart my diet. Was meant to start early in January but it didn’t happen and I’ve slipped. Will be doing My Fitness Pal too.

OP sorry but no way would I resist. I would go for damage limitation - no carbs and just have bacon/eggs/mushrooms/toms no O.J [too much sugar!], tea/coffee perhaps some fruit or yoghurt? Enjoy.
@Bacardi101 -thank you for the compliment but I promise I 'm faking it until I make it. Desperate to lose a substantial amount of weight as I am struggling with my joints and in pain a lot - am blaming the excess weight in part as well as my inacte lifestyle. I have done a lot of research and along with this diet I am now taking Omega3 fish oil and half an aspirin every day to try to help myself. Hoping the support on this thread will stop me from giving up so easily like I have done before. DH really supportive but doesn't really understand I don't think as he's just shoved a box of Hotel Chocolat under my nose.... luckily it's cheese not chocolate that's my downfall so it was a "No thanks" from me!

TinselAndKnickers · 25/01/2019 23:48

Girls.. I'm pissed as a fart don't even care about the calories from the cocktails as I have finished my last exam today until june! Wooohooooooo. Have not got cheesy chips on the way home tho, crunching some sunbites instead hope you all have a lovely weekend!!

Welcome to any newbies I've missed and @MrsMummyBx if you can swap any "baddies" for goodies eg poached egg instead of fried or more mushrooms (I hate them) instead of black pudding etc then do that! If not, enjoy your full English as you clearly want it then make GOOD choices for the rest of the day Grin

What a great group we have got going here! I love it. Swimming tomorrow at 11am. God help me!!

recklessgran · 25/01/2019 23:59

Ha! Ha! @Tinsel jealous of your pissedness but well done on all your hard work. I've only got a cup of tea and trying to ignore the remains of the Baileys [ I drink it in half pints with ice on occasion.] Enjoy your swim in the morning -you can be sure that I most definitely won't be doing anything more active than shoving the hoover round here. [Slattern].
Night everyone.

DM has been like this for as long as I can remember. To me, to my DSis. DSis looks amazing btw but she worked really hard to get there with the gym and WW and worrying that her then BF (now DH) was going to cheat on her with hot girls while they went to different unis (never happened and all in her head!!).

I got down to 10st 2lb in the April that I eventually fell pregnant. I must have dropped back to that and beyond while DS was ICU but then made up for it with Costa and cake coming out my ears once he was well again.

ChubsyMcChubFace · 26/01/2019 07:40

Morning all!

Ah boggle, that really sucks she’s so unsupportive. Some mothers do this to their DDs and it’s really vile. My gran was a bit like that with my mum. I won’t even delve into how that went AngrySad. Please try to ignore her and shut her down immediately when she starts up. You don’t deserve to be picked on about your weight by your own mum.

tinsel haaaahahaha! I’m so glad you’re having fun. Well done for not getting the cheesy chips though. How’s the head Wink?

reckless, well done to you too for resisting the chocs. Chocolate would be my poison over cheese. And crisps, cake, bread... I could go on Blush.

Anywho, I’ve started the day well with a green tea.

Weighed myself with the new scales and I’m 12 stone 1. That puts me a good few pounds into the overweight category and there’s no denying it!

I’ve decided to do something a bit radical on Monday and am going to try a raw vegan detox type thing. Maybe for 5 days, a week, maybe two, or maybe a month if I like it. Not as a permanent thing, (unless, who knows? It might make me feel so euphoric and glowy that I’ll stick to it forever... maybe not Grin).

outreach29 · 26/01/2019 08:10

Mornin @chubsy - raw vegan sounds radical - my friend did something similar last year and has stayed vegan - not easy but she loves it..

I'm basically not eating breakfast, but going straight to a smallish lunch and then a proper dinner in the evening. This has been easy to do this week as I've had a week off work. Went out for lunch with friends yesterday and ordered tuna mayo in baked spud with salad and just left most of potatoe - still full though.

Next week back to 12 hour shifts and the constant temptation of chocolate and cakes at every break time - urghhh.

tinsel Grin Grin Grin hope it was worth it if you have a hangover today

boggle ignore what your dear mum thinks when it comes to your body - it's your business only and stuff what negative vibes she puts out generally.

ChubsyMcChubFace · 26/01/2019 08:13

Sounds good outreach! Are you a HCP by any chance? It must be incredibly difficult not to graze during a long shift like that.

TinselAndKnickers · 26/01/2019 08:30

Morrrrning Grin a bit groggy but otherwise fine! Going swimming at 10 so I'll see how I feel after that Confused

Boggle, my mum is similar in that way and always making snide comments too. They are not perfect - we are only human and we'll get there! Only positivity can help and we are here SmileThanks

Chubby!! Never pegged you as being into radicalismGrin sounds great though. I love cheese far too much to have that restraint.

Well done Outreach - sounds like you are off to a good start! You can have a reasonable treat at break times as you will be working long hard hours. Just not the whole packet of biscuits, as I am prone to Wink

ChubsyMcChubFace · 26/01/2019 09:00

Never pegged you as being into radicalism

Ha! How did you not? I positively reek of radicalism Grin. Fight the man and so on.

Oh I’m so envious of the swim and spa Envy. Sounds amazing.

Dh made bacon sandwiches this morning and I turned them down on favour of a green smoothie and green tea Halo.

TinselAndKnickers · 26/01/2019 09:33

Ooh check you! Well done, that's great. My breakfast is scrambled egg and smoked salmon.

Just out of curiosity, where abouts is everyone from? I'm from Derbyshire in the East Mids!

ChubsyMcChubFace · 26/01/2019 09:39

Yum! I think smoked salmon and scrambled eggs is about my favourite breakfast ever.

I am originally Irish, but live near London, with my English husband and dcs.

recklessgran · 26/01/2019 09:44

Morning everyone. The perils of weighing daily - I've gained a pound which I know is completely normal however I'm blaming yesterday's pub lunch.
Two bowls of soup only for me today within the six hour window so I'm with you @outreach. Numerous cups of tea otherwise. I think the weekends are going to be more difficult as DH and I usually go out for lunch/cake and coffee on a Saturday. Might just be coffee for me. DH skinny as a rake and can eat whatever he likes without gaining at all.
Hope everyone has a good day.

recklessgran · 26/01/2019 09:59

Londoner living large village Northamptonshire.

recklessgran · 26/01/2019 10:00

DH also Londoner but from the posh West unlike me.

Applesaregreenandred · 26/01/2019 10:30

Well I have just started reading this thread as I really need to do this. Unfortunately the first post that sits on my mind is Bogle's post of Monday where she ate a caramel digestive. I have never seen these before and am now fantasising about eating one. SadBiscuitBlush

ChubsyMcChubFace · 26/01/2019 11:16

Hi apples! I have seen them, but never had one! They do sound pretty delicious. Better than the toddler groups round here! It’s all custard creams and bourbons here.

reckless, ah yeah, it’s tricky weighing daily. I can’t help myself when I’m dieting though; as if magically I’ll be a stone lighter. I’m sure it wasn’t one lunch though. I tend go up and down a couple of lbs during the course of a day.

recklessgran · 26/01/2019 11:57

@Chubsy - I only weigh first thing and naked [Sight for sore eyes I can tell you.]
Would be too depressing to weigh in the evening!

ChubsyMcChubFace · 26/01/2019 12:18

Same here reckless! And no, it isn’t pretty here either!

TinselAndKnickers · 26/01/2019 12:20

Well swimming went great - borrowed my mates fit bit thingy she has and apparently it burned about 490 calories! The trouble I have now is not eating any of those back Blush

RE daily weighing - don't do it! Grin I find it disheartening and try to weigh as little as possible (literally Grin) it is not all about the weight! If you are feeling positive overall about your lifestyle and the way you are eating, positive change will come Smile at least I'm telling myself that!!

TinselAndKnickers · 26/01/2019 12:21

One thing I hate about my body is the stretch marks I have acquired on my stomach - I don't even have the excuse of kids! I just ballooned Blush I am hoping as I lose weight and become more healthy overall they will become less noticeable and one day I can look down at them and be reminded of all the hard work I put in to lose the weight that caused them!

recklessgran · 26/01/2019 12:43

Wow @Tinsel well done on the swimming-that's more calories burnt than I intend to eat today.
Just ate first bowl of soup.
@Chubsy, thank you reassuring to know I'n not the only one.

outreach29 · 26/01/2019 13:03

Hi recklessgran I've just had a bowl of soup as well - not the best although only 208 calories!

Any suggestions for nice soup welcomed...

I live in the Northwest with 3 teenagers and husband, work full time as HCP

At work if I have one treat - it seems to ope the floodgates to eating +

  • sugar stuff. Can only resist if I literally don't have any - ho hum

Will be back on it at home!!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
