Anyone starting a new diet tomorrow? Want to be diet buddies? Im 14st7lb my heaviest ever at 5ft4. Need some motivation and willpower. Going to be doing meal substitution with shakes twice a day to kickstart my diet. Was meant to start early in January but it didn’t happen and I’ve slipped. Will be doing My Fitness Pal too.

O.K. Confession. @outreach29 soup really not exciting nor healthy - Knorr Crofters Thick Vegetable 272 calories for the packet which is meant to serve four. I eat it in two halves -half for lunch and half for dinner. [This is on 3 days of my 4;3 if you see what I mean.] Should get soup maker out and make a proper soup with healthy natural ingredients shouldn't I ? I'm not known for doing what I should though.
Anyway I'm only doing this extreme diet for the first couple of weeks to kick start a decent loss [I hope.] Will then revert to 5;2 and try to make healthy choices on the 5 non starvation days. I currently sport a large bread baby which has got to go and is probably caused by my love of carbs - beautiful fresh bread, chips etc. Also love a cheeseboard...with or without the wine.

Hi Everyone I've now caught up to end of thread and would like to 'check in'

I'm currently my heaviest weight since giving birth 17 years ago! I've also discovered that I'm 2 inches shorter than I thought I was - either the result of my bad posture or age shrinkage (? I'm in my 50's didn't think people shrunk until proper old age!)

I'm another one that enjoys a carb heavy diet. I don't eat meat but do occasionally eat fish so I think I'm going to up my fish intake to balance my diet a bit. I've lost weight a few years back doing WW, moving to calorie counting when they changed points system so that's what I'm planning now.

I've previously logged on MFP but have had fit bit for Christmas and there's space to log food / calories on this so that's what I'll do. I don't know if you can link MFP to Fitbit if that's better for logging food?

So far today I've eaten

Breakfast 2 pieces toast, spread and scraping marmalade (300 cal)

Lunch new potato & salmon salad (250 cal) followed by fibre one caramel square (90 cal)

4,300 steps

outreach29 · 26/01/2019 18:10

@recklessgran - is it tastey soup?? I've just come back from picking 13 year DD from town, and stopped off at Tescos and got 3 different 'bean-based' soups - may be totally revolting but sometimes they just hit the mark

Hi applesare good luck for the week ahead! I'm trying low carb and have bascially cut bread and alcohol (and sugar) - feeling determined to ditch at least 10lbs before March.

recklessgran · 26/01/2019 18:44

@outreach, yes, tasty and fairly thick soup so quite filling although I'm pretty sure it's not very nutritious. I'm figuring that it won't hurt for a couple of weeks.I'm storing more than enough in the nutrition line to be forgiven for it though. The point is that I'm trying to make it through the fasting days without suffering too badly. Will knit to keep hands busy this evening and then opt for a fairly early night. Looking forward to scrambled eggs [without toast] in the morning.
Hope everyone else is getting on O.K.

Hazel1976 · 26/01/2019 19:16

Hey Peeps,
I follow a nutritional cleansing system involving nutrient dense meal replacement shakes (1-2 a day), healthy snacks and dinner and 1 day supported fast. The fat pounds have dropped off and as my muscle and energy levels have soared my exercise has increased as I can do more. Also ditched the napping and no calorie counting! Love my Fitbit for keeping me accountable with that.
Hx

Bacardi101 · 26/01/2019 20:39

Evening ladies! I’m starving today and stupidly bought a bakery loaf of bread and it’s talking to me! Did a batch cook for the week of a chicken pasta type thing I can have as my healthy meal but as I made it from scratch it’s is bloody vile!!!

The vegan fast sounds brutal! I can’t cook which would mean I would have to live off apples!!!

recklessgran · 26/01/2019 21:07

@Bacardi - I SO admire you for ignoring the bread. No chance whatsoever of me being able to resist that even though I'm rocking a massive bread baby. Thankfully DH not a big fan of bread so I haven't bought any. [He has part baked baguettes and crumpets if he fancies anything like that.]
DD3 just phoned and is on her way home for a flying visit. Have lit candle and flung the hoover round ready. Looking forward to seeing her even though she was here with the other 4DD's last weekend for a family birthday it's nice to get just one of them on their own sometimes. She is like her Dad and can eat for Great Britain without putting on an ounce bless her, just like a little doll, a dinky Size 6!

Bacardi101 · 26/01/2019 22:27

recklessgran that’s a lovely little surprise! My DDs are very young still 5&3 but have their Dads figure luckily for them!!!! Lol I wasn’t all that virtuous I felt like a true crazy lady smelling bread in the kitchen! Blush I have taken myself off to bed before I succumb!!!!!

MrsMummyBx · 26/01/2019 22:48

@bacardi I SO SO SO know what you mean about food talking to you! If there’s any chocolate/biscuits/crisps in the house I have the same thing!! I don’t know how to ignore that little voice- so try not to have anything like that in the house, but it’s impossivle sometimes!

@reckless enjoy the time with your DD!

Afternoon all!

How is everyone doing? I hope you had a lovely evening with your dd reckless. Well done resisting the bread bacardi!

I’m gearing up for my raw veganing tomorrow. I’ve been out for “raw vegan” supplies today. I swear I’d have spent less if I was on Atkins! Fruit, veg & nuts are pricey these days! Maybe I need to change supermarket...

MrsMummyBx · 27/01/2019 16:25

@Chubsy good luck with it tomorrow!! Keep us posted as sounds v interesting...

Unfortunately I’ve made my way through a load of flapjacks today but the scales were ok this morning, tomorrow I’m back to 2 shakes a day...

Evening all, will update properly later but just to let you know we have had a lovely day with DD3 and went to visit DD2 this afternoon to see DGD 15 months.Ah, so very cute. I have been very good so far today and made DH and DD3 bacon baguettes for breakfast.[Well, brunch more like - 11.30am] I am proud that I resisted the bread and had 2 rashers of grilled bacon and 2 scrambled eggs - yippee no carbs so far. Nothing else since apart from tea and water but just about to set off to the Toby for a carvery. I resolve to have turkey and a plate of vegetables. No Yorkshire, no stuffing and God help me no roasts! Then, no dessert but that won't be a problem for me as I'm not bothered by sweet things at all. Thankfully there is no cheeseboard on offer so should be O.K. Will however have a JD and coke which won't be diet . Hey ho I figure one has to have a life sometimes.
Hope everyone else is doing O.K. weekends are going to be harder I think than Mon - Fri
Is it weighing day tomorrow @MrsMummy or did you decide on Wednesday in the end to allow for weekend falling off the wagon?

Bacardi101 · 27/01/2019 18:14

chubsy have you tried Aldi at all they are much cheaper than Tesco!
I weighed in today as Sunday is my weigh day and I’m 3lb down so not bad just 10000 more to go!

MrsMummyBx · 27/01/2019 18:40

@reckless Wednesday Weigh Day to mitigate falling off the wagon :-) sounds like you had a lovely weekend!

@chubsy well done on your 3lb loss!

outreach29 · 27/01/2019 18:40

bacardi 3lbs loss is brilliant! well done you - I'll be well chuffed if that is me on Wednesday.

ChubsyMcChubFace · 27/01/2019 18:50

Saturday is my weigh day; also to give me time to make up for whatever damage I might do at weekends Blush.

Thanks bacardi! We have a Lidl in my town and an Aldi in the next town over. I’m not mad on Lidl fruit & veg, but will give Aldi a try.

3lbs down is fab too! Well done. Hope I can lose some this week.

I’m really looking forward to my raw vegan experiment. So many people, (albeit only online people...), seem to swear by it! I’ve made my own nut milk today. Feeling a bit smug about that Grin. Will probably feel less so when I’m trotting out to the shops tomorrow for emergency burgers!!! Hopefully not.

Applesaregreenandred · 27/01/2019 19:55

Chubsy interested in how your raw vegan diet works for you. I've been following a predominately vegan diet but I'm a junk food vegan- think veggie burger and chips followed by vegan cheese cake! I have put weight on because of the amount of carbs I'm eating so have decided to include some quorn and fish in my diet to balance it out a bit better.

Today's eating:

Breakfast - toast with low fat spread, scraping of marmalade

Lunch - WW tomato soup with low fat cheese on toast

Dinner in pub - sea bass with fresh tomato sauce, mash potato and loads of veg. White wine spritzer

I may have a WW desert later

ChubsyMcChubFace · 27/01/2019 20:53

A bit like you apples, (but I imagine I was a lot worse), a couple of years ago, I went vegan, (for the third time Blush), ate loads of the delicious vegan treats that are out there now and gained a fuck tonne of weight in quite an alarmingly short period of time! When I was vegan at university in the early noughties, there wasn’t anywhere near as much available by way of vegan convenience food, so I actually ended up eating fairly healthily, but was sooooo bored! Rubbish student cooking, (by me), didn’t help. All I seemed to eat was lentil soup!

I do hope the raw thing does the trick.

I’d love it to work as some of the health gurus claim it does.

If I’m desperate though, I’m not totally against having a couple of boiled eggs or some fish or seafood. Will try not to though.

recklessgran · 27/01/2019 20:57

Thanks @MrsMummy - Wednesday it is. Hoping for a decent loss by then especially as it's the first week. Your 2 shakes sound almost as appetising as my 2 soups I've got lined up for tomorrow. It will be worth it in the end.
@Chubsy I am in awe of you and your raw vegan plan - I am obviously very lazy indeed as I just don't think I could be bothered with all that prep. Funny really as I absolutely love cooking big family meals with everyone round the table a la The Waltons. I just simply can't be bothered just for me though.
I survived the Toby with just one minor against me - I had a roast potato - but only one, otherwise stuck to plan outlined previously. Phew! [Hope I can be forgiven for the roast potato.]
@apples I hope you don't mind me asking but I'm interested in what you think of the WW foods -are they properly tasty or do you think they're bland? Never tried them but as I'm in this for the long haul I am lining up different options for when I get bored of my present regime.
@Bacardi well done on your 3lb loss that's brilliant. Has the bread been eaten or are you still having to resist. Hats off to you!

YouBoggleMyMind · 27/01/2019 22:58

Lost my way. AGAIN. I have no will power. Guess I'll draw a line and start tomorrow. Sigh.

MrsMummyBx · 28/01/2019 03:45

@reckless that is super impressive - one roastie- you have much more willpower than me!!

@boggle - please don’t fret, you are NOT alone, I’ve been awful Friday-Sunday (yesterday found that I had a packet of chocolate flapjacks in the house and as they were ‘talking to me’ decided I had to have the lot, about 1000 cals - AWFUL). I’ve decided that Monday is another day, I’m not going to do what I would usually do and just fall totally off the wagon, I am going to (try) and pick myself up and start afresh :-) this is why Wednesday weigh in has its advantages!! ;-)

Morning everyone!

New week, new start. Forget the flapjacks etc Smile. I also have some misdemeanours to forget about! In fact, I’ve already forgotten. What misdemeanours Grin?

I’ve just started the day with some fruit and a glass of my homemade nut milk. All very nice, though breakfast isn’t always a big meal for me anyway, so it isn’t too much of a challenge to just have fruit. I do miss my Brew, but I drink too much tea anyway, so this is probably a good challenge.

Hope everyone is well and had lovely weekends. tinsel, are you still at the spa? Bet it’s been lovely.

recklessgran · 28/01/2019 08:50

Morning all. Just checking in - one cup of tea so far. Have been at my desk since 7.00am so trying to resist the usual mindless grazing. Soup at midday for me. Tea in the meantime. Determined.

MrsMummyBx · 28/01/2019 09:43

Morning all! New week new resolve! Chubsy and Reckless sounds like you each are off to a great start! Got my diet shake in my bag on the way to work...!
