Anyone starting a new diet tomorrow? Want to be diet buddies? Im 14st7lb my heaviest ever at 5ft4. Need some motivation and willpower. Going to be doing meal substitution with shakes twice a day to kickstart my diet. Was meant to start early in January but it didn’t happen and I’ve slipped. Will be doing My Fitness Pal too.

Yes McDonalds! 🍔🍟

recklessgran · 10/02/2019 21:00

Well, good evening! Back from my lovely weekend away. Oh God, don't know where to begin with the confessions.
So, to cut a long story short we were lucky to be upgraded in our Spa hotel [which we had got via Groupon at a bargain price to start with.] Said suite included a free mini bar complete with posh nuts and all which was replenished daily for free. [Wine, beer, water, soft drinks.]
Friday, on arrival, cheese and ham sandwich AND skinny sea salt fries with JD and coke in bar prior to trip to pool/sauna/jacuzzi.
Friday evening 3 course dinner - prawn salad with ginger and cucumber, pressed blade of beef with horseradish mash and carrots with a lovely jus followed by sticky toffee pudding and icecream and a bottle or two of prosecco. [How many calories was that do you think?] Saturday morning was full English but I didn't have any carbs at all - no OJ, bread/toast or hash browns/saute potatoes. Got to pull something back somehow. Only had coffee when out during the day but big buffet dinner last night including selection of starters, carvery, desserts AND cheese and biscuits......sigh.....more wine. Not one sensible choice was made.
This morning ditto yesterday morning's full English. This afternoon champagne afternoon tea with the usual finger sandwiches, cakes, pastries, scones, cream, jam, tea etc. Nothing since.
Oh help, I've eaten more this weekend than in the whole of the previous two weeks. I look positively rotund and too scared to step on the scales. Great weekend though so back on the wagon [and the scales] in the morning when I will update you on the damage.
On a happier note I bet none of you have been as badly calorific as I have this weekend!

Bacardi101 · 10/02/2019 21:10

Both the mc Donald’s and the weekend away sound amazing!
I’m so cross I’ve been so good all week 100% on plan I put ON a pound! All I want now is a entire slab of dairy milk Confused

TinselAndKnickers · 10/02/2019 22:12

That weekend sounds like the stuff of dreams! Glad you enjoyed yourself reckless.
*
Bacardi* keep going! Weight fluctuates sooo much so try not to look at the scales too often Smile

recklessgran · 10/02/2019 22:14

@Bacardi - best to weigh first thing in the morning - you could easily put on a couple of pounds in the course of the day, hence why I'm not weighing myself until the morning as it's too scary. Also could it be time of the month as that has a huge influence on weight?

Bacardi101 · 10/02/2019 22:41

reckless I was bollock naked in the kitchen all bar a pair of knickers in my kitchen at 7am not a pretty site 😂 will step away from the scales for a while I think as they are seriously making me want to quit!

Bacardi101 · 10/02/2019 22:41

** sight ffs

recklessgran · 11/02/2019 10:30

Ah @Bacardi PLEASE don't give up - we're here to support you - I'd like to bet you'll suddenly drop a couple of pounds in a day or two. I agree with @Tinsel about keeping away from the scales but I haven't yet practiced what I preach!
As expected I have gained a pound after my naughty weekend. So, 13st 9lbs this morning. Having a fast day today and very low calorie day tomorrow in the hope of getting rid of that pound before weigh day Wednesday. If I can get to my pre weekend weight by Wednesday then it will be a maintain so I would have lost a week if you see what I mean.
Hope everyone else is having a good day.

TinselAndKnickers · 11/02/2019 11:19

1lb! That's so good for such a lovely weekend, well done.

Have a great week everyone - has anybody got anything nice planned?

recklessgran · 11/02/2019 13:08

@Tinsel - yes I'm amazed too - just spoke to sister in law and she says both her and DH's DB have put on 3lbs each so I think I've got off lightly.
Of course it could be "delayed reaction" and I might still see a gain tomorrow as a result of the weekend excesses?
[DH has no idea what he weighed in the first place as he is skinny and never has to worry himself about weight.]

TinselAndKnickers · 11/02/2019 14:52

I'm absolutely starving today! Trying so hard to not eat loads but wowwww I could eat 1000 buffets all to myself! Grin

YouBoggleMyMind · 11/02/2019 14:59

Don't worry Bacardi, I'm in the same wagon as you and have gained. All I can do is hope to do a couple of good days and hope that it pays off... I have eaten like a pig this whole weekend. Chinese pork salad for dinner...

Applesaregreenandred · 11/02/2019 16:41

Hello everyone
It's good to hear that people are managing to stay pretty much on on plan whilst living all your lives. Some diet plans are so restricting.
Recklessgran's weekend away sounds fantastic.
Well I have had some 'naughty's' but managed to stay within calorie allowance .

Sat eve I had McDonalds filet of fish, small fries and an apple pie (I think only totals about 750 cal)

Yesterday I had a small scampi, chips and peas at Witherspoon's which the menu said was just under 700 cal!

And I have lost a couple of pounds!

TinselAndKnickers · 12/02/2019 15:18

Well done Apples! A couple of pounds is so good, with yummy food too!

I'm doing good today I think - I have made my very first cheesecake, and have not eaten it all. I haven't eaten any!! My willpower is improving.. however I did have a scone with jam and cream for breakfast Blush

Started off full of good intentions. Soup for lunch and also for dinner but in between have had 2 biscuits, 2 slices of bread and marmite and some cornish wafers with laughing cow light. So, a load of junk eaten today and expecting a gain at tomorrow's weigh in. Off to give myself a talking to! Fresh start tomorrow I think.
@Tinsel that cheesecake looks lovely you should be doubly proud of yourself - firstly for making it and secondly for resisting it!
Hope everyone else is doing O.K.

YouBoggleMyMind · 12/02/2019 22:43

I'm pretty scared to stand on the scales. I've just been terrible.

TinselAndKnickers · 12/02/2019 23:15

Thanks reckless! What you've eaten isn't that bad at all, you should see what I eat as junk food Grin

Boggle what have you done? Don't worry, it's a small set back. You are holding yourself accountable though and logging into MFP so it's not as if you're too far gone to turn back!

YouBoggleMyMind · 13/02/2019 00:05

I haven't properly tracked for a week. Tomorrow will be crap. I'm trying to find an ounce of me that really cares right now. I feel like I've spent all my life on a diet. It's depressing.

Sorry ladies, just IGNORE me. You're all doing super well.

YouBoggleMyMind · 13/02/2019 09:56

Weigh in: 12st 6lbs

A gain of 1.2lbs. Disappointed but it's my fault.

Guess I draw a line and be as good as I can.

How has everyone else got on?

recklessgran · 13/02/2019 10:17

@Boggle, please don't worry - I'm in the same boat as you with a one and a half pound gain.
Last week 13st 8lbs
Today 13st 9.5 lbs
Oh well, at least I understand why, so I'm drawing a line under my transgressions and determined to stay on the wagon now. In the past this is where I would be discouraged and give up. This time I'm playing the long game and hoping for a stone overall by the end of March.
Start weight was 14st 1lbs so need to lose 8.5 lbs in the next 6 weeks which should be doable.
How is everyone else getting on?

Bacardi101 · 13/02/2019 11:34

Do t worry that’s a small gain and you know why as well we got this it’s always going to be more of a rollercoaster than a nice steady slide! That cheesecake looks amazing my face would be in it!!
Week ok diet wise but think my and my DP of 7years have hit the rocks after a long time coming and we have two young DD’s as well so the one good thing to come out of it is that I’ve been so stressed I haven’t wanted food!

MrsMummyBx · 13/02/2019 12:29

Weigh in

13st 11lb

So loss of 1lb which I’m v pleased with given what I’ve eaten.

reckless totally agree that I would have given up by now but it’s all about the long game!

boggle don’t worry lets just get back on the wagon! No more chocolate for me!!!!

Can any of you ladies give me tips to keep disciplined and on track mentally (and ignore the calling of nice things in the cupboard)??

bacardi really sorry to hear about you and DP, must be so stressful, sending you virtual hugs Flowers

Bacardi101 · 13/02/2019 16:40

Thank you ❤️ And well done the loss!!!!

recklessgran · 13/02/2019 16:55

@MrsMummy well done on your loss, would it help if you reduced your "eating window"? I only eat between 1 pm and 7pm [roughly] and that helps to a certain extent and makes me plan what I'm going to eat and when. Doesn't always work of course but at least cuts down the time you are able to be naughty if you see what I mean.Might be hard though if you're running after little ones as 1pm is quite late in the day for your first meal. I think prepreping snacks and having them in the fridge ready is a good idea too for when the hunger suddenly hits and you could eat everything in sight.

@Bacardi I'm sorry about your sad news -can you be nice to yourself in non food ways- lots of little girl cuddles, nice candlelit bath, facemask/pedi/etc? And you get to watch your choice on TV.... sending you lots of support and virtual hugs from here.
