You're very inspiring, whoops!

I managed half an hour of an exercise dvd this afternoon, first exercise in a week, and it felt good!

Twiglett · 01/07/2007 19:42

but I'M HUNGRY

I hate being hungry

I'M HUNGRY

5 - 7 points to have (not counting the 6 bonus points from the gym yesterday)

what can I have ?

got lots of stir fry packs but just don't fancy them

BarbieLovesKen · 01/07/2007 20:00

Oh great!! a ww thread! ive been following WW for 12 weeks next Tuesday and have lost 32lbs so far. I love it (most of the time anyway)

God, Twiglett, I dont know, it really depends on what you have in?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/07/2007 21:23

hi to everyone.
I am new on mumsnet although i have been reading throughout pregnancy.DD is now 4 and a half months and i finally decided to appear!! I joined WW when she was 9 week.Stuck to it for about 3 weeks and found my milk supply was not as great.even though i was told you get 10 extra ponits when Bf.I am thinking about starting again.Does anyone have advice for doing WW while BF.

Celery · 02/07/2007 06:36

Twiglett, are you drinking loads of water? Sugar free gum? Options chocolate drinks ( only 0.5 points ). If it's real hunger, do you have time to make butternut squash chips? They're free and filling. Roast carrots always fill a hole for me too.

Here are my weigh in stats:

Starting weight: 11 stone 10
Current weight: 10 stone 6
Weight lost this week: 2 pounds - woohoo!
Goal weight: 9 stone 13

Looks like my plateau has finally ended

Celery · 02/07/2007 06:36

hello new people btw, sorry no experience of ww whilst bf.

BernieBear · 02/07/2007 08:59

Well done Celery, glad the plateau is over...here's mine

Starting weight 12.1
Current weight 11.11
Weight lost this week - 3lbs
Goal Weight 10.10

Wow Barbie 32lbs, amazing.

Again I have no experience of weight watchers whilst breastfeeding, but I know there is provision for it on the diet. However I do have experience of breastfeeding and imagine you have you have your hands full without worrying about points etc as well (oh god, no pun intended). Do you go to meetings or on line? Can your HV/bf support people help with advise?

whoops · 02/07/2007 09:09

Morning

Wow Barbie 32lb well done

Well done Celery & Bernie tht's good losses!

I have weigh in tomorrow but my scales are showing about a 12lb loss at the moment!! I was ill last week!

Twiglett I agree with Celery about having a drink but I also have low point snacks through the day!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/07/2007 09:55

hi
Thanks for responding i actually went to a meeting near home although i do get tips and recipies of internet. Havnt seen a HV since DD was 9 week and also never had BF support. My WW leader has 18month old twins and she just recomended i try the core plan as it stressful enough with new baby without counting points. But tbh i think it was too early to worry about baby belly!!
but now feel ready (or desperate to try again)

michaelad · 02/07/2007 10:49

Hiya, I'm thinking of joining WW (am on another diet atm and am getting tired of just having shakes and soups). How much is it per week?

speedymama · 02/07/2007 11:13

Bernie Bear if you are pushed for time to do exercise, I can recommend Taebo because Billy Blank does an 8 minute workout that will make you sweat. Also, Kelli Roberts bought out a DVD with 5x10 minute workouts.

Check out the exercise DVD recommendation thread for more reviews.

whoops · 02/07/2007 11:39

michaelad ww is £4.95 per week. I will probably stop going and follow it myself soon as I needed the motivation and know that I was going to get weighed weekly!

Flumpybumpy · 02/07/2007 12:26

Buuger, put on a pound, but I am on this week so I am using that as my excuse

Anyone tried the new special K Sustain?? if so how many points??

FB x

michaelad · 02/07/2007 12:30

What's the average weight loss I can expect at WW if I stick to it? Am on a VLC diet (very low calorie) atm and am scared that I'm going to inevitably put on lots of weight if I now switch to WW..anyone have experience with that?

Shoshable · 02/07/2007 12:33

Been going since the 5th June and lost 11lbs so far, but things are slowing down a bit, 5lb the 1st week 4lb the 2nd and only 2 last week, but due AF tomorrow so that might explain it.

michaelad · 02/07/2007 12:35

oh, hello Shoshable!! Been such a naughty Bar and Teashop absentee lately..

whoops · 02/07/2007 12:38

WW like you to lose 1-2lb a week as it is easier to keep it off if you lose it slowly!
I however seem to have it falling off me and not been able to control it and been losing at least 2.5lb a week (other than last week!) but I am exercising too!
Sorry have no experience of changing diet but ww points are based on Calories and sat fat.

Well done on your weight loss!

BernieBear · 02/07/2007 13:35

michaelad - you may experience a few weeks of ups and downs if you switch from the vlc diet to ww diet. However, the ww diet does appear (to me anyway) to reflect a "lifestyle" eating. i.e. you are not told NOT to have anything. You can have treats etc but within reason. So you can look at what is important in your life - is it a treat in the evening everyday/glass of wine/a few wines over the weekend etc. and make allowances for that throughout the rest of the day/week. (Does that make sense ) Therefore it is easier to stick too and to maintain as it is not faddy also inevitably not so easy to pile "the weight back on" once you have reached your target. Also exercise gives you "extra" points which you can bank.

Speedymama - thanks for the recs. Will take a look. Have got quite a few walks this week booked in so at least the fat burning side is sorted - it is the toning and the inevitable "can't be a*sed" in the evening that needs attention. Would love to go swimming but babysitting is a prob. Thanks again

FlumpyBumpy - let me know the sat fat and calories and I will work it out for you.

no1. You could always try again - I think I read on the website something about breastfeeding mothers need a certain quota of "fat" everyday. Hang on, I'll look

"Nursing mums need more nutrients, so please follow these guidelines:
Increase water to 8 glasses, dairy to 3 portions and fruit & vegetables to 8 portions. Fit in 3 teaspoons of healthy oils each day to ensure that you are getting the essential oils that you and your baby need. "

Hope this helps. Right am off out for my second dog walk today - I hate the rain

rnbsmum · 02/07/2007 14:01

no1, I am also BF, DS is 9 months and I'm back at working and feeling like I need to sort myself out a bit. I'm counting 22 points but am not worrying if I go 4 or so over. I weigh on Sunday started at 13stone 51/2 was 12st10, now 12st 12 curry night on Friday was fatal - felt too embarrassed to ask for chinese instead. Am aiming for 9st 9.

Lovely recipe:

butternut squash (better with sweet potato if you've got the points)
cherry toms,
white fish.
white wine (or water)
garlic
rosemary
Cut up squash/sweet pot and put with toms in a roasting tin with fry light or a little olive oil and sprinkle over garlic and rosemary. Cook for 14-20 mins @180. Add fish on top and drizzle over wine or water. Cook for 10 mins

laneydaye · 02/07/2007 14:03

Anyone else struggle with points once a month??? its the only time i cant stop eating.... try to be good but sometimes think oh stuff it.... find it hardest once a month..

Celery · 02/07/2007 14:27

Now that I've lost most of the weight, I usually only lose 0.5 - 1lb a week, and stayed the same for a few weeks - very frustrating! I've really got back on track this week though, and lost 2lbs.

Time of the month - well, I tend to write this week off, to be honest. I try to stick to my points, but tend to go over a bit, and always put on about 3 pounds due to water retention. The week after though, it all comes off, and if I'm lucky a bit more too.

Michaelad, it's definately a lifestyle change, rather than a quick fix diet, reflected in the fact that once you reach goal, you are given 6 extra points for maintenance. I think the people who stick to the maintenance plan long term once they've finished actually dieting, are the ones who manage to keep the weight off. I agree, you might find it a bit up and down for a few weeks, but I think eventually you'll find a balance and WW will work you.

Celery · 02/07/2007 14:28

Oh, and if you do it online, without attending meetings, I think it's £50 for the first 3 months, and then £9.99 a month after that. There is usually a £5 off voucher in the WW magazine too.

BernieBear · 02/07/2007 15:40

To be honest I feel like I have pmt most of the time at the moment as quit smoking 8 weeks ago but this is why I started ww because I can still "treat" myself most of the time - just with the low cal versions hence the move to skinny cow products and mini crunchies .

The last and only other time I have done WW was 10 years ago. It came off 1/2 - 2lbs a week but I haven't put it all back on (until now) because it is so much connected to lifestyle and hard to put back on. It is almost like you are re-educated or brain washed - one or both

Twiglett · 02/07/2007 17:23

an entire tube of fruit pastilles is 2.5 points

Flumpybumpy · 02/07/2007 19:38

BB- Special K Sustain

Sat fat - 0.2g
Cal - 338

per 100g

and it tastes yummy!!!!
