New Year, New Motivation - The Notso’s are back on track!

SolitudeSometimesIs · 30/12/2018 09:17

I can’t remember how many threads we’ve had now, but here’s the new one.

My plan is to go get back to 1250 calories per day using MFP and my shiny new fitness tracker. I had lost 10lbs from Nov-Dec this way and found it manageable. However, I won’t be starting until Jan 1st as I’ve a few parties and stuff on (and it wouldn’t be a well thought out plan if I didn’t procrastinate about starting).

My goal is a holiday we’re going on at the end of March, I will need to be in a swimsuit for some of it so need to get my shit together.

I think everyone on this thread has tried every diet going so newcomers feel free to join, there’s lots of support and understanding.

Afternoon all, how is your week going?

pom sounds like my kind of dinner 🤤 what starters did you have?

green* are you feeling better? I'm constantly tired at the moment also. Have you had your bloods checked. I'm tempted. My dsis did and she was deficient in lots without realising.

sol* how are you getting on? Thank you for the cauliflower rice introduction I'm having it so much at the moment

I'm finally below 11st well I'm 10st 13.5, I'm hoping that I will stay motivated. My cals are quite high but carb in take is below 30g a day. It's taking a long time to plan my meals and I'm finishing I'm repeating a lot of meal but I do t mind that. I'm having a lot of spinach, broccoli and cauliflower and protein (either chicken, quorn or fish)

I handed my notice in. My boss didn't except it, said will do what ever it takes to keep me. Ie reduced hours and a pay rise.

I'm really conflicted, as they part time jobs for my role and so low, I'll have to take a 10k pay cut 😲

Pomegranatepompom · 06/06/2019 20:05

Rachey I’d stay until you see another job you want, more money but less hours is a good offer. If you can tolerate it.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 08/06/2019 17:09

Hi all,
Sorry I disappeared, life got very busy. Haven’t weighed myself, I can’t stand the disappointment. I’m due my period and bloated like a dead orca so all my weight loss is disrupted.

Rachey I would take the reduced hours and stay in the job if possible. Where I live there are Mums that do school drops in the morning for working parents, they live locally to the school and walk herds of kids over. Is there something like that in your area? You have to pay but it would be worth it.

Glad your husband had a good birthday Green, I find it hard to stick to a plan if I’ve lots of social things too.

Two starters and Prosecco sound like heaven Pom, what did you have?

We’re away for a few days with the kids next week, I can’t wait. There was no half term here so we’re taking the kids out of school.

I can’t bare to weigh myself either, I’m feeling huge. Was out last night with my slim and glamorous friend and did not feel good about myself Hmm so I’m starting and aiming to lose 21lbs (from last weight). So boring June for me !!!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Pomegranatepompom · 09/06/2019 14:07

Where are you going away Sol?

I had salmon, followed by pavlova - no wonder chubby !!!!

SolitudeSometimesIs · 09/06/2019 19:37

We’re off to France again to see my DH’s friends and then possibly going to Spain but haven’t had much luck finding a place to stay.

I’m grotesquely fat and swollen, my totm has seen me balloon 9lbs which is all water. I’m going to my GP when I get back, I need a solution to my raging symptoms, they’re ruining my mental health. I know that sounds so dramatic but it’s like torture each month.

Sorry for the seriously moany post, I’m so down at the moment.

Pomegranatepompom · 09/06/2019 20:38

Sol you have my complete sympathy. Hormones/ mood swings are so awful and really debilitating imo. Definitely go to gp.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 09/06/2019 21:09

Thanks Pom, I feel so unlike myself. It’s been like this for the last year or so but I can’t take it anymore. I’m having wine and crisps to cheer myself up, I’m fat now for the next week, I might as well enjoy it.

Pomegranatepompom · 10/06/2019 08:35

Hope you have a better day today Sol.

Weighed this morning - was horrendous.

Racheyg · 10/06/2019 09:25

Morning all,

Sol I'm so sorry you feel like this, I agree with pom maybe a gp visit is in order? Can they refer you to check your hormones ect?

When are you off to France? Are you flying again?

pom sorry the scales weren't great. I'll join you on the lose 21lbs do we have a time frame?

green how are you getting on?

Thanks for the work advice, I've reduced my hours by 2.5 a week and have asked for wages to be risen by £2000 per year. I await the reply.

Kids have really been trying recently, and I've started shouting, I hate who I am turning into. Plus I feel constantly tired and stressed.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 11/06/2019 04:55

Thanks for all being so lovely. We are off to France tomorrow, I ended up going to see my GP yesterday evening. She was fab and has set me up for ultrasounds and tests for when I get back, she was saying it will only get worse the closer I get to menopause-oh joy!

Pom I will join you on your 21lb weight loss. I’ve about the same to get rid of before I start losing the “other” weight.

Rachey I hope you get some positive news about your job, you’re not asking for anything extravagant and you’ve clearly been a good employee.

I try not to be a shouty Mum but sometimes fail, I’m always willing to apologise afterwards. But no one is perfect, we are human. It’s hard. And sometimes my kids need a roar let at them otherwise they don’t listen.

Have a great holiday Sol.
I’m glad that you’ve been to the GP. Best to get things checked out.

My PMT symptoms are getting much worse too. I started taking a SSRI for it at the end of last year as my moods were terrible for half of each month. Still getting the physical symptoms but now I don’t feel so bad about them and I’m not so angry and stressed now.

I hope you get things sorted at work Rachey.

My weight is horrendous too Pom. I’ll join you in 21lb. (Like Sol that’s just the first target😂)
Started 5:2 yesterday. I just had one meal (low carb)and a piece of cheese. It was under 500cal.
Did some maths involving calories last night and worked out what I have on non fast days (to lose 2lb per week). On the non fast days I’m going to still eat carbs and I’m aiming for 29g of fibre per day and 112g of protein.
I’m hoping to lose the first 21lb by the beginning of September.
DH is wanting to be healthier too so that sound help.

I’m currently trying to gets loads of decorating and major de cluttering done in the house. We are getting a puppy at the end of next month and it’s triggered some sort of nesting urge!

Painting walls distracted me from food yesterday, great for fasting!

Pomegranatepompom · 11/06/2019 14:42

That sounds really sensible Rachey I hope your work agree. Isn't it normal to be a bit shouty ??! Could you try any tactics? for example my 2 are so slow in the morning so now I start telling them to get shoes and coats on 10 mins before, I also feel more stressed if we are rushing.

Time frame... how about end of July? not sure if that is too optimistic, maybe end of August?

Have a lovely holiday Sol your GP sounds good. My hormones are definitely worse, I went to GO but she was very dismissive. Actually didn't go as was only offered a telephone appointment ! I was thinking of taking Agnus cactus which is supposed to help, I think green recommended ages ago, but I never got round to starting.
Well done on your 500 cals Green How are you tracking your carbs?
Hope decluttering goes well. We want to sort out shower room next.

I had 800 cals yesterday and aiming for same today. Will try to keep going with 800 until the weekend.

Greenrabbit · 11/06/2019 17:37

I’ve got the nutrients set to 50% carbohydrates, 25% protein and 25% fat.
Apparently it important to hit your fibre and protein goals but not go above protein (don’t remember why).
I’ve been reading a lot of stuff about nutrition and fat loss.

Pomegranatepompom · 11/06/2019 18:15

That’s interesting, a lot of diets are protein heavy.

Racheyg · 11/06/2019 21:56

sol have a great holiday, you and your family deserve it. So glad you gp was understanding and has sent you to have tests.

green god, your so good with all your de-cluttering. I have started to get rid of a lot of baby stuff, I'm doing a boot fare I don't expect much but what I do get will go towards a weekend away I have planned.

What decorating are you doing? Touch ups? Or new colour scheme?

What puppy? I so can't wait to see pictures

pom shall we say end of August? Although I have so much going on over the summer I might struggle.

I'm really gutted I stupidly weighed myself and I'm back at 11st 1lb - although I am on my period well just coming off so not sure if that makes a difference?

Racheyg · 12/06/2019 08:02

Morning all,

After feeling very disappointed at the scales I ate 15 dates 🙈 I think they are about 60cals each - oppps

Today
Boiled eggs x 2, Avocado, Spinach - breakfast
Chicken, rocket, Parmesan and avocado salad - lunch
Celery and almond butter - snack
Tofu stir fry - dinner

Have a good day everyone

Greenrabbit · 12/06/2019 10:13

You could have had some chocolate instead Rachey!
Your weight will naturally fluctuate though?

I’ve just painted the hallway and cloakroom in the same shade. Our bedroom really needs doing and I’m tempted to change colour. I’ll have to get a decorator for that though.

I’m not good with decluttering. I over think everything and we honestly seem to bring more into the house than we get rid of.
Our house doesn’t have much storage so I’ve ordered a cupboard for the hall and a larder for the utility.
We also need new furniture for the bedroom, so we are going to get some Ikea Pax wardrobes and get rid of our chests of drawers.

Puppy is a cockapoo. I’m so excited!

Pom it was actually quite difficult to hit the protein goal. I’ve stocked up on some Greek yogurt and Quark products so I’ve got more protein options.
Managed to eat plenty of fibre. But that was from whole grains, fruit and veg. Felt very full.
I didn’t manage the full amount of carbs or calories either.
I did seem to eat a lot though and it was all very nutritious stuff.
It is quite interesting. I’m really going to make the effort to stick to it for 12 weeks and see how I get on.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 18/06/2019 07:54

Hi from Sunny France. I definitely will be making huge changes to my eating habits after this week, I’ve eaten so much crap. And we’re off to Spain tomorrow for 4 days, I am dreading to see how much I weigh. I nearly bought a weighing scales under the guise of needing it to check the weight of the cases but DH thought it was a terrible idea and I should just enjoy the holiday.

You all sound like you’re doing so well, I need some of your motivation. Right, I’m off to have croissants and coffee (the pastries are pieces of heaven). No wonder I’m so fat.

Pomegranatepompom · 18/06/2019 15:27

Your DH is very sensible. Enjoy Spain !

Racheyg · 18/06/2019 17:17

Hahaha I wish I was doing well sol I seem to have gone backwards 😂

So glad your having a good time and I agree with pom your husband is very sensible enjoy your holiday xx

Greenrabbit · 20/06/2019 12:27

Hope your having a great time in Spain Sol. You definitely shouldn’t be worrying about food. Just enjoy yourself.

Diet plan is going well. 6.5 lb off so far.

Hope you are all having a good week.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 21/06/2019 08:27

Green that’s amazing! What is the name of the diet? How do you feel on it?

I’ve gone back on Intermittent Fasting. So basically just skipping breakfast which is so easy because there are no more fabulous pastries. We’re in Salou, it’s absolutely gorgeous, the beaches are amazing and the apartment it tiny but lovely. God bless Airbnb Grin

Home on Sunday night, strict diet starts on Monday morning.

Whoop whoop
Well done green 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Racheyg · 24/06/2019 18:55

Evening all,

I haven't been dieting recently just trying to be fairly healthy. I haven't been to the gym as much as I normally do either. I just sent to lack energy at the moment. I also seem to be really anxious, not sure what that's all about.

Glad your having a good holiday sol

How is everyone else?
