On balance I've been quite good. Quite But what the hell, I just ran 3 miles. Am trying to talk myself out of baking a potato with my sausages and rataouille.....

Orm, step away from the baked potato.

That's one of the worst ways of cooking them anyway. If you must have some potatoes, have steamed/boiled new potatoes

Strawb, I'm in a similar predicament - I've been invited out for a meal and can't say no. I'm thinking of just having steak and salad, with no starter or pudding

Today;
Fillet steak
Avocado and salami
Salmon fillet, tomato, onion, leeks and brocolli.
Water

I'm quite good at disguising my low carb efforts when eating out. You can do chinese quite easily without the noodles and crackers and stoke up on the meat and prawns and vegetables etc. Especially easy if it's a buffet. OK the sauces are probably a bit carby but you don't have to go the whole ricey/noodley hog as it were...

Avoiding starters and puddings when out is a recipe for people taking the mick about Atkins or going "oh aren't you good etc etc" and then trying to sabotage you. So I'd say keep schtum about the diet and just look for the least carby options (eg stuffed mushrooms for starter, cheese for pudding if it's there) and resign yourself to the cravings the next day...With any luck they won't notice you aren't eating spuds or whatever.

Glad dd is OK cyclon. It's the longest day (and hasn't it felt like it what with one thing and another...) So I've just had 3 hand made irish chocolates.
I wish we could all go out for a rice-free chinese together! It'll have to be virtual!

cylonbabe · 21/06/2007 23:06

yay, this sounds like a possible happening.
lets not do london though. i hate london. completley and utterly hate the trains and finding the places which i dont know etc etc etc.
but if youguys like london, then we'll do that. [cylon blushes as realises that tis more important to meet friends, than worry about looking unstylish in capital city}

I was at university in Cardiff about 70 years ago...We didn't know it was built over a rift in the space time vortex then...

cylonbabe · 21/06/2007 23:07

Gah. You all live so bloody far away.

Actually I have never done a meet-up and the idea makes me quite nervous as I'm shy, and tongue-tied in RL

I think you should go for it, though realistically I don't think it's possible for me to make the trek all the way to Cardiff, let alone London .

I will actually be in London for one night, and one night only in August, but I will be otherwise occupied drooling over the new Joseph

Sadly I don't think Cardiff would be a goer for me either, although one day I'd like to see how the place has changed since I was there in the late 1770s...

I don't live far from Cardiff Sally! Somerset, so about 1.5 hours away. cyclonbabe - I know it wasn't 70 years ago so when did you go. I was there between 84 and 87.

London??? Oooh scary.... Might be OK if I didn't have to drive. Had to get to Cambden town on my own a week after I passed my driving test - I did it but I still get nightmares.

Orm I was long gone by the time you got there... sigh...What did you do at Cardiff? Me - music.

Well I'm in London 3 days a week but there's no way I'd drive it - used to drive about happily years ago in my yoof when I lived there, but then it was only horse-drawn carriages to worry about.

Think I might finally have lost a pound as the scales forgot to go quite up to their usual sticking point this morning!

I did archaeology and English. Not exactly using it now as I'm in IT.
