We are determined to lose something in November - half a stone would be fab but realistically whatever you can. Come join us and be lighter by the start of December - what a great advent gift to yourself that would be!

We have as many different weight-loss approaches as we have posters, absolutely everyone welcome. Let's get started!

I had a good day yesterday.
I’m eating 1800 cals on my days off and my first work day (work mostly nights so apart from a nap I’m awake for 24 hours on the trot my first working day) and 1400 on work days and my first rest day.

I had an aerial silks class and rode my horse. Spent lots of time cooking so food for the week is sorted - hairy dieters coq au Van (it’s SO good) with mash and cabbage and root veg lentil stew is dinner/lunch for the week.

I live alone and work long hours so it’s cheaper/easier for me to eat more or less the same thing all week. Makes counting calories easier too!

I’m going to kick the week off with a 6k run this morning then ride the horse.

Following!

Hoping to lose 7lbs before Christmas. I have a stone to lose in total but desperate to lose it this time! I lost the stone after last Christmas (by April) and have steadily shoved it all back on again since then so now back to square one which is so frustrating!

MsTSwift · 05/11/2018 07:10

Am 11st 9 which is my heaviest ever am 5 7. Last time I made an effort got to 10st 2 so a long way to go!

No snacks except carrot ryvita
Meals on smaller plates
No crisps choc or pudding all my downfall
Up at 6 did 45 min high impact and weights
Plan to do this every morning
Am determined!

Autumnnymph · 05/11/2018 07:20

Hello I am back! I weighed in this morning with lots of trepidation. I have gained half a kilo after the excesses of last week which he actually much lower than I expected so am guessing all the walking did help! My aim for this week is to knock office that extra half a kilo and then would love to see me hit my goal in November.

I really have no excuses this month - am on a sabbatical from work so have time to focus on myself - exercise - cook healthy meals. So fingers totally crossed!

MissTulipan · 05/11/2018 07:33

I am determined this time, I did so well up until summer then let slip. Trying to factor some exercise time in. I’m up at 5.45am, work at 7.30am and by time I’ve been to work and got kids sorted for bed it’s 9.30pm...I walk a lot but need more exercise. MFP set for 1400 a day which I can cope with...

Good luck all

Peridot1 · 05/11/2018 07:54

I have been rubbish. Totally rubbish. Was away over the weekend at a party. Lots of food and drink. Massive bowl of spaghetti bolognaise last night.

Weighed in at 14st 9.8. Desperate to be back under the magic 14st 9.

Rushing out now but will catch up on thread later!

Gilbert82 · 05/11/2018 11:08

I was rubbish over the weekend too!
I’m starting fresh today and giving 16:8 a go, eating between 11am-7pm (I have had a coffee earlier this morning after being awake from 5:30 with a poorly baby).
Hope everyone has a good week!

Therealjudgejudy · 05/11/2018 12:02

Went to the gym before work this morning. Weighed in at 9st 2lb so that's a good start to my week. Need to think of something healthy to cook for Dinner this evening.

QuimReaper · 05/11/2018 22:32

Hello everyone!

I've clocked almost 30K steps today Shock Haven't managed that in months and months! Good start to what I hope will be a very good week - I'm feeling very determined.

Hairspray good to see your face and welcome back to THE ZONE! I'm not on mfp any more, but I'm sure the others are. You still not got yourself a Fitbit?

QuimReaper · 05/11/2018 22:34

Crikey MissT that sounds an exhausting schedule, you'd be heroic to fit anything else in on top of that! Can you manage a lunchtime workout maybe?

goingonabearhunt1 · 06/11/2018 14:20

Hi Everyone,

Dropping back in after dropping off the thread over summer. The last couple of months have been bad; lost my exercise routine and too many carbs all round (not to mention wine!)

I'm back in my routine now (spin every wk plus MFP and 16:8 and not drinking alcohol in the week until a Thurs). This was working for me before, I'm just so annoyed with myself that I regained some of what I lost.

goingonabearhunt1 · 06/11/2018 14:27

Too scared to weigh yet before I have a few more golden days but I suspect I've gone over 10st again and I want to get back to 9st,8lbs.

HairsprayBabe · 07/11/2018 08:52

Still no fit bit but have been logging everything, even on the days where I have gone over.

Weighing once a week these days.

Oooh look at me posting more than once a month!

Hope everyone is well Grin

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 07/11/2018 10:17

Please could I join? I have lost almost 3 stone since having my baby in February. All of that was in the first few months though and I have hovered around the same weight (12 stone 4.5) for months now. I would like to get under 12 stone by Christmas, which is totally achievable if I stop eating rubbish! I'm not too bad with my main meals and they're all fairly healthy, but I'm really bad at snacking on bad things. I would just like to feel a little better about myself over the Christmas season Smile.

outreach29 · 07/11/2018 10:29

Hi all - a late joiner of the thread here. Had a wake up call yesterday evening when the stud fastening for the jeans I wear a lot (that used to be quite loose) popped off - the metal literally sheared off!! The scales are telling me nearly 12 stone. I have never weighed this much and at 54 it ain't easy to lose.

Used to try and get below 11 stone and had weighed 11 stone 4 lbs for ages - that seems quite good now :)

Onwards and upwards - Good luck MsTSwift - you sound very determined - I need the determination to stick at it as I get bored after a couple of weeks and drift into old habits...

No red wine for me at the weekends especially, as this ALWAYS results in a pack of fancy crisps being eaten with it (after a big dinner) - mmm maybe that's why I've gotten somewhat plump.

QuimReaper · 07/11/2018 13:32

Oooh, new faces! Welcome Coffee and outreach and welcome back going to the Best Thread on Mumsnet™! (Sorry to all those upthread whom I failed to welcome, you are all very welcome too of course!)

goingon I feel hyour frustration at having let things slide and gained a bit, I hate it when that happens, but at least this time around you know exactly how to get it off again. I always feel like that partly contributes to the frustration, but it's also comforting, as you know you've seen that number before and can do it again.

Coffee gosh, well done on the loss so far! 5 Lindas before Christmas sounds totally do-able, is it just the snacking that gets you? It's a tough nut to crack but once you break the habit it'll be much easier. One day at a time!

outreach Not to laugh at your pain but that did make me chuckle Grin Years ago I had a wake-up call when I was wearing a dress with a waist belt and I sat down and the waist belt just burst opena nd flew off Blush It was a proper cartoon moment. Do you have a replacement for the red wine or are you going hardcore booze-free?

Well, it's a game of two halves at my end: I am at the beginning of a cold so feel awful, really hot and cold and sore throaty and headachey and floppy. BUT I have got over 50K steps already after a kickass Monday (when I was only just starting to feel the cold) and an unexpectedly long hula hooping session last night, and I've been pretty fab on the food (sore throat always acts as a bit of an appetite suppressant for me) so I'm hoping for a good weigh-in at last! I feel like I can actually see a difference for once so fingers crossed! I actually took my own advice last night and made our frittata with a piece of chewing gum in my mouth and a glass of tonic water handy to stop myself from nibbling whilst cooking, and it was surprisingly effective: I totally spat the gum out and ate some cheese Blush but not nearly as much as I might normally have. Should really take my own advice more often Grin

goingonabearhunt1 · 07/11/2018 23:49

Golden week so far here, have been planning out my food each day and exercising. So far so good. I do feel less bloated and gross which is nice. I always feel icky when I eat loads of junk, it's just a shame it tastes so good at the time.

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 08/11/2018 07:17

Thanks QuimReaper - yes, I’m bad with snacking and I’m bad for drinking sugary drinks. I work long hours and have 2 non-sleeping young children and feel I “need” hot chocolates and things like that to get me through the day (except obviously I don’t at all, I just lack willpower). I do really struggle to lose weight anyway, even when I’m being excellent I will only ever lose a few Lindas, but right now it’s mostly because of the sugary snacks and nowhere near enough exercise!

How are you feeling today? Is the cold any worse or better? I hope you can ward it off! Well done with the frittata. Small steps and all that Smile.

Autumnnymph · 08/11/2018 09:20

Hello to all the new faces! I am enjoying my first week as a lady of leisure and have been golden with diet and have averaged 15,000 steps a day, Mid weigh in saw me back at 58.2 which means I knocked off my holiday gain so quite pleased with that.

I am determined to end Nov at 57kgs.

HairsprayBabe · 08/11/2018 09:58

did not have a good day yesterday, ended up having haribo at like 10pm so finished on 1971 calories....

so am doing a fast day, and we are havig stir fry for tea so nice and light.

KOKO all :)

QuimReaper · 08/11/2018 10:47

Coffee I so get that, when something becomes a crutch it can be really difficult to go without it. In terms of the hot chocolates etc., are you getting them from coffee shops or making them? I'm sure you know this, but those Options sachets are only something like 30 calories, so if you're getting in big creamy Starbucks affairs and have access to a kettle at work, that could be an easy switch to help wean you off.

Thanks for your well wishes - I've moved on from the sore-throaty headachey stage and am entering the snotty stage so hopefully that means the "feeling ill" part is on its way out! That's always how it is for me at least, I don't know if everyone's the same - I feel actually ill at the beginning, usually running a bit of a fever, then that's replaced with the snotty sneezy bit which is more irritating and uncomfortable but has less of an impact on my energy levels. I'm not relishing the prospect of the snotty part though...

Autumn well done on kicking the holiday weight, 1.2kg in three weeks sounds eminently do-able!

bearhunt I never feel icky after eating loads of junk Blush Hardly ever, anyway. I wish I did as it might act as a deterrent, but aside from being aghast (and a bit impressed) by the speed with which my waist measurement can quadruple in a few days of indulgence, I'd always do it again in a heartbeat. I am optimised for junk food Grin

Hairspray Haribo at 10pm, you hussy! It's seabass and red sodding cabbage for dinner here, how about everyone else?

Autumnnymph · 08/11/2018 13:16

@QuimReaper I have decided setting smaller goals for me is the way to go this month!

I had curried chickpeas for lunch and its going to be a yoghurt based curry for dinner with rotis for rest of the fam and a roti and cauliflower rice for me. :D

Gilbert82 · 09/11/2018 07:15

Morning, just weighed in after giving 16:8 a go this week and I’ve lost 1.5lbs very pleased with that! Hopefully I can stick to it over the weekend!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 09/11/2018 09:51

Morning all!

Well done Gilbert!

Hope you’re feeling better today Quim.

I weighed myself for the first time in a week or so today, and surprisingly I’ve lost 2lbs, so I’m down to 8 stone 12. Pretty pleased with that, I just need to keep plugging away and not let the weekend derail things too much. I’m working though so I won’t be tempted to drink, and hopefully I can just stay in my routine. I am planning pizza for dinner tomorrow though but I suppose life can’t be all green salad and boiled eggs Grin

HairsprayBabe · 09/11/2018 10:19

9.10 still, but at least I am tracking everything and not going up!

Not got any huge weekend plans, might see my mum and do some Christmas shopping, she is making all the cards for our wedding invites and keeps popping in with mock-ups and samples... she is very excited!
