Starting today (not tomorrow) - three stone to go!

Does anyone want to join me? I'm heavier than I've ever been and need to sort it. Not following a particular plan as I never stick to them. Am hoping chatting here will keep me on track.

Snacking is my biggest downfall!

Will weigh in shortly but am around the 13 stone mark.

Hi 👋
Would I be able to join too please.
I would like to lose at 3 stone, I’m currently at 13st 4 and just generally want to lose weight to feel better in myself and my health!
I’m planning on just eating healthier and counting calories.

Been to the gym tonight and run 2.5 miles on a treadmill. It was pretty grim to be fair: I got quite fit for a while but I've lost the habit in the last month or two. Hoping this thread gets my running back on track as well as my eating!

I have had a good ish day today. The weighing this morning wasn't great at 13:13 but I've made a start (again) so that's something.

I need to get my exercise back on track . A couple of years ago I was running 5k three times a week. I was still overweight but I definitely felt loads better.

I felt loads better when running too howlong (although probably ate more than enough calories to compensate for my terrible running!) - hopefully once my DC are at preschool more next term I can start again.

Hetty I split my pyjama bottoms today too!! Blush I think that was just the material giving way as they are enormous men's ones, but still, it was definitely a sign for me to cut the calories!

I’ve been doing some HIIT workouts on YouTube at home (there are hundreds on there for all ability levels) and I’m noticing my bum and thighs are looking more toned now. There are also ‘walking at home’ workouts on YouTube too which are handy in getting my step count up on the days I don’t leave the house too much. I managed to stick to 1400 calories yesterday but it was difficult as I was having a stressful day and wanted to binge on chocolate when I got home. My period is due too which always makes me crave loads of sugar.

Russell, that bakery aisle is dangerous. I only discovered it recently. Have to avoid it now.

Welcome Princess! You've come to the right place. I've add you to the list.

Keira, well done on the gym. Have you tried running outdoors? I used to run in the gym then tried it outside and, once I'd got over feeling embarrassed to be seen huffing and puffing, I found it much better than when in the gym. It shocked me. I stuck with it and even ran a very slow marathon, which I never thought I'd do.

Howlong and Ruby, you should get back out there running. Start with the couch to 5k maybe. Lots of people do well with that. Ruby, do you have any chance to sneak out just for half an hour?

Splitting PJs, oh no! At least it wasn't trousers while you were out and about!

Frosty, well done on sticking to your calories yesterday. Sounds like it was a real test of willpower. I was similar last night but managed to avoid snacking, only because I didn't have anything suitable in the house!

Today went straight down the pan, other half had day off work and treated me out for a huuuge pub lunch, 3 course meal, then went to work this evening and took home a free pizza (how can I refuse as its free) Did only eat two slices on the way home and have put the rest by for other half’s lunch tomorrow..... must resist to eat more!

Fingers crossed tomorrow is better

I'd love to join you and actually stick to it this time but I've got zero willpower. The amount of threads I've been on like this!

Think I need to step away from my home scales and find a chemist with 'proper' ones. I used to do this weekly when I was around 9 stone. Oh my goodness, imagine being that again!

I'd settle for a 2 stone loss at the mo.

Can I join too? 13 stone 5 and absolutely disgusted with myself. Anything with sugar is my weakness and I honestly think the only answer is to staple my lips shut. I'm hoping I can stick to no snacking and see if I can get any progress

Room for another? I had my DS2 nearly 3 weeks ago and was going to give myself the 6 weeks before I even THINK about losing weight but a lovely conversation with 7 year old DS1 along the lines of "Mummy is still pregnant / no I'm not / then why are you still fat" sent me running to the scales in horror. Stupid I know! But I'm up to 13 stone 5 from a normal weight of between 9 and a half to ten stone so feel MASSIVE. Possibly some will still naturally drop off post partum but I suspect most is due to terrible eating habits I fell into during pregnancy and figure it's not going to be unhealthy to try to re-introduce proper nutrition at this stage and stop running on biscuits and coffee as I have been since the arrival of baby. Back on My Fitness Pal and trying to keep an eye on calories, eat more fruit, veg, proper meals with protein etc and cut out the chocolate and toast etc........exercise can wait for a few more weeks!

I've actually really gone off main meals in the evening (and I haven't been too snacky recently) so I'm going to switch my days up and have cereal for my evening meal but something decent late lunch.

For 10 years now I've been trying to loose this weight 😥

RubySlippers77 · 08/11/2018 11:34

GoodMorningSunshine, I realised recently that I've been on some sort of diet and/ or feeling bad about myself for thirty years, after my mum made some pointed comments about my 'puppy fat' not disappearing Sad

(To be fair on my mum, this was round about the time when I went to secondary school; she's struggled with her weight all her life and I think was trying to save me from the same, but instead it knocked my confidence even more!)

Please look after yourself too bella, I'm sure some of my postpartum issues have come from doing too much too soon after having my DTs. DP had a real go at me when they were three months old for not having lost any weight - with hindsight what I should have said was "fuck off, it's not like YOU'VE ever given birth to two humans" but I was already so low that I just took it on, started doing loads of exercising and eating a lot less. Now I have terrible pains from my stomach muscles and may need further work too.

Anyhow, this week is going ok, lots of nutritious food eaten and a minimum of chocolate biscuits eaten, only when absolutely necessary after a day of horrible squabbling DC yesterday with a trip to Minor Injuries added for extra fun! How is everyone else doing?

Report
HettyPain · 08/11/2018 17:43

Princess, how have you got on today? I ended yesterday really badly with a Chinese takeaway which included chips. Totally unnecessary. I blame a stressful day but really need to stop using food to help deal with it.

Goodmorning, Sunshine and Bella, hello! I'll add you to the list too :-)

Got to read and run as need to get an evening meal together!

I’ve been on an 8 hour train journey today (delays) and there were no healthy snacks on offer so had to get things like chocolate and crisps as was absolutely starving :-(

Not too bad thanks Hetty, I’ve done a bit of batch cooking today, so hopefully that will help me keep on track next week.
My steps haven’t been great, I wear a Fitbit to keep track and aim for 10k daily but normally easily surpass that on the days I work.

What sort of things do you batch cook Princess? Always interested in cooking ideas!

I baked a butternut squash yesterday but had to take DTS2 to the doctors - told DP it was cooling down and once it was done he could mash it up and add it to the pasta sauce I'd made - he did, but neglected to remove the seeds Confused I did think the pasta sauce was a bit chewy....

Princesspeach89 · 09/11/2018 09:56

I do pasta bakes, curries, chillies. Anything that I can freeze really I’ll cook. I used to do slimming world but then I fell pregnant but I still cook a lot of the recipes. Just wish I could just stick to just eating the meals but the BIG problem is snacks and takeaways

RubySlippers77 · 10/11/2018 09:19

I'm trying to persuade DP that we need another freezer Princess - ours isn't big enough for all our stuff and frozen batch cooking! I used to do it in the pre-DC days and it was really handy, would like to get back into the habit. I like the Two Chubby Cubs SW recipes Smile

Good luck to everyone for the weekend! We went to my favourite bakery yesterday and I managed to only have one cake. Yes, not ideal but better than the three I've previously had...

How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was alcohol filled as I went to a ub40 tribute act last night and drank a few too many wines! And had a bit of me time Friday night with Netflix and another glass of vino

Good morning everyone.

First weigh in for me and I have lost 2 pounds.

I am happy with that as it has felt manageable and although I had a hectic week and only went to the gym once I still lost something.

Normally my pattern would be to lose four pounds in the first week and similar the second and then fall off the wagon because I am being too strict .

Good luck to everyone weighing in this morning.

One of my plans this week is to make some more soup to take into work. If anyone has a tasty recipe I would appreciate it.

My weigh in today was 11st 6, a loss of 2lb. Very happy with that as I wasn't particularly good this weekend and didn't track on WW at all yesterday, - I'm going to start again today!

I Have a horrid cough that kept me up all night and finding it hard not to turn to biscuits , but now I've lost some I really don't want to go back up, so that's my inspiration!!

I too would be interested in soup recipes. Vegetables with garlic is getting a bit dull :)

Well done howlong and kitty 👏

Haven't weighed myself yet today as I'm at the time of the month almost entirely fuelled by chocolate ☹️ heavy AF and I am just shattered, thank goodness for preschool to give me a respite from two lively toddlers!

There are quite a few soup recipes on here (with accompanying saucy banter from the Cubs!): twochubbycubs.com/tag/soup/

I don't tend to make soup as we don't have a big blender - I would love a KitchenAid or similar but our kitchen is tiny and we have zero spare room. Sigh.

morning all, I'm down to 13 st 2 from 13st 5. Been tracking a lot on MFP and having a lot of omlettes, salads and soups.Resisted getting a takeaway with OH twice this week so that's progress :) Not quite quit the chocolate and coffee....trying to cope with newborns week three growth spurt and restlessness but overall pretty happy with the result, it's a start! Dying to get to the 6 week check up so I can start to do some proper exercise....
