No S diet - would anything like to join me?

Hello!

There used to be a thread on here re the ‘No S’diet. I hope I’m not duplicating, but I can’t see any recent threads on here and I’m about to start tomorrow.

The rules are;

No sweets
No snacks
No seconds

Except on S days (Saturdays, Sundays and Special days like birthdays and Christmas).

It isn’t a quick fix, but theory goes that it’s easy to maintain once you’re in the habit.

I would like to lose a little weight, but breastfeeding seems to be helping me keep my weight down. I’m planning to stop breastfeeding next year, so I need to break some greedy habits I’ve picked up.

Anything? Anyone I mean! Fecking autocorrect.

Yes Im in! I followed this diet before and had great success until old habits creeped back in.
Have yet to check my weight going to do it in the morning.

Stonebake · 16/10/2018 21:55

Glad to have some company Smile!

I’ll weigh in tomorrow and log it here.

DoYouLikeBasghetti · 16/10/2018 22:03

Yes please! I did this before and it's the only diet I've ever had success with. Will also weigh in tomorrow.

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 08:46

Morning both!

That’s reassuring that you have both enjoyed it in the past. Hope it works for me too.

So, I’m weighing in at 11 and a half stone exactly. That puts me at a bmi of 24.5, but I’m an Apple shape, so my ‘happy weight’ is about 10 and a half. I’d be happy to get under 11 stone though, ideally before I stop breastfeeding.

Today might be challenging as we have an activity this morning which means I won’t get time for breakfast till later. Not ideal for this WOE, but hey ho.

I'm happy to join. I'll weigh on Friday and post back.

I did no sugar for a month earlier this year and I was surprised how quickly I got used to it.

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 10:40

Oh yeah, I’ve heard no sugar can be good too, but I’m not doing that. I think a lot of No S’ers do no refined sugar as one of the rules instead of ‘no sweets’ on non S days.

OP posts:
PoesyCherish · 17/10/2018 11:16

I'm not doing it this time around either @Stonebake - way too difficult in the first instance and not sure I have the willpower this time

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 11:45

Glad it’s not just me Grin! Well done for completing a month though.

I would miss the odd cup of tea with a sugar, even if I’m steering clear of sweets and puddings.

vinegarqueen · 17/10/2018 12:42

In! Just did a massive weightwatchers flounce so need some independent good habits.

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 12:49

Welcome!

I also flounced spectacularly out of WW a few years ago. It used to be really good, but I didn’t like it after it changed.

I didn’t like the way it steered people away from healthy fats and towards plastic ham. Made no sense to me.

Anywho, hope everyone is doing well. I ended up having breakfast after 11, so will have lunch at about 3 at this rate. At least I won’t be tempted to snack in the afternoon then. Maybe I’ve accidentally stumbled across a clever tactic there...

What are people doing about Wine on no S days? I don’t drink a lot just now due to feeding, but thinking of making wine an S day only treat when I finish feeding.

DoYouLikeBasghetti · 17/10/2018 13:41

Just weighed in 9 stone 5. Bmi 25.6 so overweight.Sad

Stonebake I've done this diet before and I drank Wine wine on s days. (But I'm back at my starting weight so maybe don't take my advice lol).

DontFundHate · 17/10/2018 14:44

Hello! This sounds good. I came on here to see if anyone was doing something like this. If you don't mind, I may do no sugar instead of no sweets personally, as that represents my habits more. I weigh 9 stone 9lb with a healthy BMI but my clothes don't fit so well and me weight is creeping back up. I'm a fellow breastfeeder and I think that's part of why I crave energy from bad foods, that and lack of sleep! Hello everyone!

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 14:47

Welcome Smile!

Yes, definitely go for no sugar! I think there are lots of No S’ers who do this. I may even join you eventually. I’m just starting with the obviously very sugary stuff.

DontFundHate · 17/10/2018 14:47

Just to say though, you can drink while breastfeeding, very little alcohol gets into your milk, so long as you are sober enough to look after your baby you can drink a few glasses no problem. It's personal preference though isn't it. I knew this with my first Ds but I didn't like the idea of drinking and bf, with ds2 I drink when I want to Smile

DontFundHate · 17/10/2018 14:49

Hi! A real time chat! Grin great I will start right now! I keep saying I'll start on X day then I eat loads to build up to it (in the name of ridding my house of stuff im depriving myself of!) I like the idea that I can have what I like on weekends. Good luck everyone!

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 14:51

Oh thanks, I know and I do have the odd glass here and there. I actually am exclusively pumping... or not exclusively anymore as he’s nearly 9mo, so eats a lot of food too. But it means I can time it so that I pump first and can have a glass afterwards. One of the only up sides to pumping instead of breastfeeding directly!

But anyway, for the purposes of the diet, I might keep it to weekends anyway. It’s so easy for me to rack up calories with a glass of wine a few nights a week. And when I’ve stopped feeding I don’t want to pile weight on.

OP posts:
DontFundHate · 17/10/2018 14:53

Sounds like a plan Star

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 14:53

I am exactly the same when I plan to start a diet! I eat everything the night before to get rid of it. So ridiculous and a waste of food! I like the sound of this WOE as I don’t have to completely cut anything out. No special diet food required.

I tried low carb a while ago and spent so much money on all the crap I needed for it. So bad. Never again.

OP posts:
DontFundHate · 17/10/2018 14:55

Yes to me this plan sounds like how healthy people eat without thinking, some treats now and again but most of the time healthily. I need that in a structure though so this sounds perfect

PoesyCherish · 17/10/2018 15:13

What's WOE ? I'm going for no Wine except on S days although I don't drink a lot these days as I find it massively affects my gastro problems.

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 15:18

Way Of Eating! I think it’s supposed to imply it’s not really a diet, but a more permanent change of habits.

OP posts:
misskatamari · 17/10/2018 16:18

Yes! Count me in!

I did this for a while last year and it was great. The website has loads of great info nosdiet.com/ I need to have a read through it again to motivate myself. I also read the "eat like a normal person" blog at the same time, and that was really helpful in making me think about food differently www.eatlikeanormalperson.com/ . Again i need another re-read.

Ideally i'd like to lose a couple of stone, and I just keep losing motivation and falling back into old habits. I know i don't want to do a proper "diet" as they don't work long term and leave me obsessing over food, whereas no-S seems much more of a healthy way of eating. I recently borrowed the Lisa Riley Honesty diet book from the library too, and that's got some interesting points in it, i'm going to try and do some of the written tasks she recommends to get my head in the game. I just read Paul McKenna's emotional eating book too and really like his advice about eating mindfully so need to work on that. Here's to new good habits!

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 19:22

Welcome miss!

Yes, I’ve had a look at the website too. Are any of the forums on there still going? The ones I’ve found seem quite old.

How is everyone getting on today?

I’ve been ok though struggling with not finishing my dcs’ food when they don’t eat it! I hate throwing food away and it’s rarely worth keeping. Tricky one. I might have to start serving them smaller portions. Sod’s law that they’ll then devour everything though!

I’ve also had quite large platefuls I think... Hopefully that will calm down in time. Otherwise, just thrbodd hankering for cake but that’s fairly normal for me Grin! I’ve obviously abstained. It shouldn’t be hard should it, seeing as I can have cake on saturday?

I stepped on the scales this morning and am 10st & bmi 26.3 would like to lose at least 10lbs if not 14.

Today was ok but Im working at 6am tomorrow & seem to struggle with the munchies when I have an early breakfast.

I think this was my downfall last time. I would eat breakfast at 5.30am lunch at 12 & then get really hungry mid afternoon and lose the run of myself!! Anyone else have similar issues?
I need to eat before work as its a physical job on my feet and I find Im light headed by about 8 if I havent eaten.
