Bejesus, I've put on 3lbs this week!

Hello - can I join in? Am starting Rose Elliot's veggie low carb diet today as I've hit a plateau on WW and need dractic help!

bohemianbint · 11/06/2007 08:59

I meant drastic, but if dractic works I'll try that an' all....

Crotchety · 11/06/2007 10:02

Well after a highly controlled week last week somehow at the week end it went pear shaped. Didn't help eating a Tesco Finest tarte au chocolat which I though might be like the real ones in France last week and which turned out to be really dull and stodgy. Ate it anyway. Hate it when the carb binge is not even worth it. Oh well. Monday. New thread. Start again.

cylonbabe · 11/06/2007 10:37

hi all, crotchety, me like you. had a fantastic day yesterday, even though went to a wedding. today, had a samosa and half a bagel for breakfast. two days worth of carbs inone morning.
the carb binge is never worth it. so i dont know why i keep doing it either.

thank youf for the shiny new thread oggy.

oggsfrog · 11/06/2007 11:00

Gawd it's confession time on here this morning isn't it?

Welcome Bohemianbint. Did you decide against the SW?

Went to Appleby Horse Fair yesterday and ate
a pork roll with stuffing and apple sauce
an ice cream
fish and chips (although these were shared with dh and dd)
candy floss
a cider lolly (Gorgeous. Not had one for years and years)
a Big Mac (so I didn't have to cook when we got home), also ate dd's chips as she didn't want them and it would have been a shame to throw them away after we'd paid for them wouldn't it.......... ahem.

Oh also had a can of Olde English Cider (I blame the cider lolly)

Sooooooooooooooo, I'm back on track as of this morning.

I've got an emergency batch of The Scones in the oven. Quick! Quick! Otherwise I shall start on the kids' flapjack...

OrmIrian · 11/06/2007 19:33

Had to go to a Golden Wedding party on Saturday which involved a 4hr drive each way and a stay in a B&B which we could ill afford. And 5 hours with DH's family was too much to cope with so I ate sandwiches and pork pies and trifle - you can see I had to can't you? Mind you looking at all of DH's female relatives over the age of 20, I feel super skinny but worry for DD's genetic inheritance. Scary...

oggsfrog · 11/06/2007 20:09

Et tu Orm?

Tsk.

Weigh day for me tomorrow, but I don't want to!

Oh bugger

I've put on 2lbs.

Damn

Damn

Damn

In fact very with myself. I've been gaining and losing the same frickin' 6lbs for over a year.

Right, just over 4 weeks until my birthday.

I will lose a stone before then.

OP posts:
OrmIrian · 12/06/2007 07:21

DOn't despair frog. Your body has found a comfort zone and doesn't want to shift. There is something you can try - a bit drastic and not very healthy but OK for 3 days. Eat nothing but meat/fish/eggs for 3 days - a little oil, butter or may for cooking or flavouring. And nothing else. Apart from water.. lots of it. It has helped me in the past. Then go back to induction levels and see what happens.

oggsfrog · 12/06/2007 07:38

Think I'm going to try it Orm, and take a vit supplement and two sachets of fybogel a day also.

Have done similar in the past and I think it's what I need to give me that initial boost.

Have already drunk a pint and a half of water and am just off to eat my boiled egg.

It always amazes me just how quickly and visibly my body bloats when I eat crappy carbs.

Will log what I eat on here in hope that it keeps me on the straight and narrow.

[sickly grin]

oggy, i'm going to join you.
not quite as long, but ive been gaining losing the same two or three pounds for more than a month now. and am getting so sick and tired of it. i hate the carnivourous apporoach anyways, but at least when i see the weight dropping off, i dont miss my bread quite so much.
last night i had a plateful of pasta and weetabix for breakfast this morning
so lots and lots of water. no coffee. nothing else but chicken fish and eggs. [bleuarght)
thanks oi.

bohemianbint · 12/06/2007 08:53

Hello, yeah decided to try low carb over SW for a while as I remember it worked a few years back, and I got all inspired by Rose Elliot's book.

Finding all the counting and measuring a bit bloody complicated though!

OrmIrian · 12/06/2007 11:28

Fascinated with the idea of the Rose Elliot book BB. I am not a natural meat-eater TBH - I was more or less a veggie for years. But lc is the only way i can control my eating/weight. What does she suggest for protein sources ? Is there loads of cheese and eggs? I use lentils alongside meat even though I know they aren't that lc.

Crotchety · 12/06/2007 12:36

Cyclon and Frog I shall be watching your reports on the meat n'egg fest with interest!

well, you know how they say youshould never try something knew when you have a lot on?
today was a very busy day for me. tuesdays always are. so didnt mangae to do the chicken eggs fish thing. But have at least stuck to atkins type diet all day at least.
my plan now is to stick to atkinsy as close as possible, but go to the gym, wed, thurs fri and sat. if no weight shifted by then, or weight gain, then i'll do the carnivore thing. as i had a very high carb day yesterday, weight gain is a possibility.

oggsfrog · 12/06/2007 19:51

We-ell, not stuck strictly to it, but up to now today I've had

boiled egg
cold brisket
2 litres of water

then I wanted something with a bit more bite, so I chopped a strip of red pepper into 1cm cubes and have been having one of these every hour

more blardy water
1/3 boiled egg that dd left, mixed with a small amount butter

1 pork chop
more water
a 2cm cube of cheese

But honest injun that's all.

So even though I've had the bit of pepper and the bit of cheese I don't think I've done too badly.

Am gagging for a cup of coffee/tea now though.

Think I'll drink more water now, then allow myself one cup of coffee while I read my book in bed.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 12/06/2007 19:52

Is it too early to go to bed now???

bohemianbint · 12/06/2007 21:19

Rose Elliot diet seems good, you get to eat more veg than I remember on Atkins. It's mainly eggs, tofu and cheese though. You can have quorn after the first few weeks too.

I have 2 questions though, here's hoping someone'll know:

  1. Am supposed to be eating 20g carbs per day and 60-80g of protein. It says that you shoudl eat if you're hungry and best bet is an egg or tofu which you can have as much as you like of. But if you eat extra, then isn't your protein intake going to be huge? And does it matter? (RE is supposed to be low carb diet as opposed to specifically high protein.)

  2. RE mentions veggie sausages that have less carbs than quorn - I can't see them! Anyone seen these?

cylonbabe · 13/06/2007 10:01

sorry no help bohemian. well done oggy. i didnt stick to it yesterday, or today.
so far have had almond scones, and on my second cup of coffee! althugh didnt finish first.

oggsfrog · 13/06/2007 20:07

Evening all

Today's tally;

Small cup of coffee with cream
Four slices lunch tongue
Water
Steak stir fry (oh blardy hell........ what a feckin numpty.......literally only just realised as I typed that, that I wasn't supposed to be eating veg, and stir fry is most definately veg what an absolute plonker.)

I thought I was doing so well

Gah.

arse
