Getting slim over the summer failed so how about less fat before Christmas?

Howlongtillbedtime · 02/09/2018 10:25

I had great intentions at the beginning of the summer but the barbecues and the wine and the ice cream and the generally being out of routine ruined all that.

Well technically me being a greedy shite ruined it !!

So my next goal is Christmas.

I need to lose 3 stone and I am going to be realistic for a change and look at a stone and a half by then.

Anyone care to join me ?

And if you could hang around and give me a kick every now and then that would be great too !

Good luck penguin and as for that changing room moment - I've been there too!!

Tried to work out today why I eat so flipping much when clearly I don't need to. Then after another nightmare meal out with the DC I realised that it's because I never get to actually finish a meal!! They get bored way before I've finished so I end up still hungry, then picking, then usually reheating the rest of my meal too. No idea how to get round this really, the DC are not quite 3 and will presumably become less of a pain, but in the meantime I'm a bit stuck Sad

Ho hum, off to do an online shop before the midnight deadline and catch up on Bodyguard - tomorrow marks the start of 'tidy up my pigsty of a house' week, hopefully will burn off a few calories that way!

Cherrysherbet · 10/09/2018 06:21

Ruby I can definitely relate to the 'pigsty of a house' thing...I must get on to that myself. Got some bits done yesterday, but looking forward to Tues and Weds when I'm at home to get stuck in! As for not finishing your meals, it there anyway you would be able to eat at a different time to the kids? Maybe that would be a pain though?

So ...... I braved the weigh in today, and have lost 2.5lbs. Quite pleased with that. Onwards and (hopefully) downwards!

RomanMum · 10/09/2018 06:46

Well done cherry. Early morning weigh in today, lost 2. Good start but must keep it up...

Howlongtillbedtime · 10/09/2018 07:07

Good morning all

3.5 pounds gone and I am happy with that ! Well done cherry and roman you must be really chuffed. It feels so good to have made a start doesn't it ?
I have a lot to lose so it is only the beginning but I am feeling positive.

My plan today is
B Boiled egg and a slice of toast (any bright ideas for breakfast ? This seems to be becoming a habit)
L veg soup
D chilli with jacket potato

Good luck to all who are braving the scales today.

WickedGoodDoge · 10/09/2018 08:21

Well done all! Howlong 3.5lbs is amazing! I was down 2.5lbs which is a lot for me (I usually teeter around 1lb) so I’m happy.

Off to the gym to do weights shortly then protein drink, porridge with blueberries, salad with chicken for lunch and not sure about dinner yet. Everyone eats separately on a Monday and I usually end up with a bowl of cereal. Grin

AromaticSpices · 10/09/2018 09:48

I have lost 2kgs this week! Almost 4.5lbs. Really pleased with that. Yesterday was the only day this week I've gone slightly over my 1200 calorie max - i went over by 160. Feeling really good. Well done howlong and wickedgood

Plan for today is:

L: leftover roast beef with lots of veggies (roast cauliflower, steamed broccoli, sauteed cabbage and leek mix in a little butter)
D: going out for dinner so will have to try and check out the menu in advance so I can make a good choice.

Here's to a good day everyone!

HappyPumpkin81 · 10/09/2018 11:51

Hi,

I hope you don't mind me joining in. My weight loss has been derailed by a recent holiday but I am back on track today. I'm currently 86kg, I was 83kg when I went away so I'm struggling as I hate trying to lose weight I have already lost 🙁 I know psychologically I will be in a better place when I get back to 83kg.

Today's food plan is:

B: shreddies, peach and a slice of toast
L: Tuna salad with grapes
D: Mince and Tatties

Congratulations AromaticSpices, Wickedgood and Howlong on your weight loss this week 🎉

AromaticSpices · 10/09/2018 14:24

Welcome HappyPumpkin - We are similar weights - I've just gone from 82kgs to 80kg. I was 83 when I went on holiday last month and somehow managed to lose weight despite drinking all the beer. Probably because all my usual snacking opportunities were denied and I was with people all the time! No secret eating Blush

Good luck!

HappyPumpkin81 · 10/09/2018 15:48

I think the breakfast buffet and the mocktails where my downfall on holiday. It certainly wasn't chocolate as it would've melted too fast.

I'm doing well so far and I'm on track to be under my calories today. I hope you're having a good day too :)

whereisthatpenguinfrom · 10/09/2018 18:51

Today honestly:

6am - 2 slices of white bread, flora butter, tea
8am - graze protein flapjack, small apple, tea
9am - flat white
10am - tea
11am - chocolate eclair, 2 chocolate 'bites', small apple, instant coffee
1pm - tea
4pm - 4 slices white bread, flora butter
4.30pm - 1 portion: lamb mince, brown rice, red pepper, red onion, veg stock. strawberry baileys- large
6pm - dark mint chocolate 4 large squares

So I know this is not great.. but it's still better than an average day calorie wise Blush

TheVeryHungryDieter · 10/09/2018 19:16

Hope your Mondays have all gone as planned! I definitely find it easier to be disciplined in the week - the weekend is my downfall.

I weighed in at the same as last Monday - 80kgs. I'm not too disappointed. I've gone up a kilo since Friday but a weekend of cake, steak and red wine will do that.

Today:
Breakfast- coffee and a banana
Lunch - salad with ham, cheese, tomato, cucumber, peppers, lettuce, olive oil and red wine vinegar dressing.
Dinner- homemade potato salad (leftovers!), and tricolore salad with a whole ball of mozzarella, basil and two sliced tomatoes.

And I've been for a short Couch to 5k run at the gym while DD had her toddler football class, even though what I REALLY wanted was a nap(!), so I'm feeling comfortable that I'll get back on track. The gym makes me much more hungry though!

Howlongtillbedtime · 11/09/2018 08:12

Good morning all

I feel really pleased to have for the first week done. Now I just have to keep it up. This is when I would traditionally start missing days and messing up. I am determined to keep going and if I do have a blip just to get back on it and not press the ' fuck it button'

So my plan today isD

Banana and a slice of toast.
Three bean chilli soup
Fish cake , New pots and greens
Snack will be sunbites and an Apple

Gym after work

Well done everyone for sticking to it and welcome to new faces.

dieter How far have you got with the couch to 5k ? I have some it a couple of times and it is fab but I struggle to keep going afterwards. I might give it another go.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Let's start as we mean to go on..!

What are you having for tea today? I am out of salad bits and need some inspiration.

I bought a new kitchen scales recently. A digital one that you can place your own bowls etc on. I've been very pleased to discover that a slice of sourdough bread weighs much less than I had thought (I guess it is mostly holes after all!), and perhaps I don't need to cut it out entirely. Weighing food was always such a faff (and created extra washing up) so I never did it, but I think this makes it much easier to get a good idea what's going in and out. Place plate on scales, reset scales to zero, put food on plate, log food. I don't do it for everything but sometimes it's really useful to see what my usual portions really are, not what I guesstimate them to be.

TheVeryHungryDieter · 11/09/2018 08:27

@Howlongtillbedtime I did the first four runs, then I got shin splints (I think) and now my lower legs are struggling to keep going, but I don't want to quit!

I joined the gym and did three cardio classes and three runs in the first week and it was probably all a bit much for my poor legs which weren't expecting it.

Felt fine for the first week, but was limping after the fourth run the following Monday. I did the fifth run (W2D2) after a week's break yesterday, and found it really hard going to be honest, and my calves/shins were hurting during the running bits. I'm going to stick to weights and one cardio class a week until they recover some more.

AromaticSpices · 11/09/2018 12:21

TheVeryHungryDieter I too have small kitchen scales and they're great aren't they! I have Salter ones, theyre so good for weighing the individual portions of each meal if you add it on separately. Then once you know what your usual portion of chicken/pasta/spinach or whatever is, it's easy to find on the MFP app so you can log it quickly next time. Makes it so much easier!

Lunch today will be Itsu (work in London) - will have detox soup with crystal noodles and some sashimi i think. Dinner tonight - not sure just yet. I may have omelette or possibly something else but not sure. Have loads of stuff at home. Need to do some batch cooking also!

WickedGoodDoge · 11/09/2018 13:09

I love my scales! I weigh everything and thanks to them now manage to make the right amount of rice for us rather than having tons leftover. Grin

It’s blowing a gale here today so skipped my outdoor cycle and did my 30km on a spin bike at the gym. I much prefer outdoor cycling but it was a bit much today! So far I’ve had a protein drink, porridge with blueberries and salmon with salad. I baked focaccia bread this morning because it was so miserable out (comfort food) and will have that with pasta with bacon and peas tonight. I’m not doing diet meals for dinner- keeping to feeding the family normally and adjusting my portion size.

RubySlippers77 · 11/09/2018 14:41

STS for me this week. I think that's fair enough after lots of Cake at the weekend!

Operation Pigsty is going well, house is 75% clean, I'm feeling much more organised. Just the kitchen and a few bits elsewhere to finish off, but I HATE cleaning the kitchen floor, hence why it's left till last.....

DP is out tonight for a meal with work so just me and the DC to sort out. Cherrysherbet I've definitely thought about eating at a different time to them, but it would be tricky and make my mealtimes really late - say 2.30pm for lunch and 10.30pm for dinner once they are finally in bed - but when I di get to eat by myself, it's a real treat!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/09/2018 20:31

I lost 1lb last week. Better than nothing especially as I'm not going ott with cal counting etc as for me I know that's the way that madness lies. I get obsessed with food if I do too much counting and tracking. So no seconds. Eating more healthily and mindfully.

I'm back from dance fit. A bit of a rubbish few weeks as far as exercise is concerned. A busy week (parents' evening for my class, a theatre trip and a weekend away) mean that I'm not going to fit in more than today's class.

Oh, and I'm on a course today and tomorrow, which means a provided lunch - but only sandwiches so not bad.

TheVeryHungryDieter · 11/09/2018 21:53

@RubySlippers77 what is STS? I might have missed that in the thread!

So today I have had:
B: coffee (skipped eating as was super busy at work)
L: cauliflower pakora and potato curry (600cals)
D: half a baked Camembert with 2 slices of toasted sourdough and a glass of red wine. (770 cals)
Snack: sugar free polo mints, four candies brought back from someone's hols...

No gym today, and that's all just within my MFP calorie limit.

I realised earlier today that I'd be having the Camembert tonight. I prepped it for visitors at the weekend and as they weren't hungry, it had to be eaten today. So I logged it as a meal this morning and worked out the rest of the meals around it. However I'm feeling really bloated. And to be honest, trumpeting the house down Blush^^ i blame the cauliflower for that

RubySlippers77 · 11/09/2018 22:40

Stayed the same Smile

Really looking forward to my GP appointment a week on Saturday, as then I will (hopefully!) find the cause of all my ailments. To be fair I've done lots of steps yesterday and today - 20K per day - but it means my ankles and knees are swollen and I've been starving. I'm (relatively) young and (reasonably) fit, it shouldn't hurt that much! And Dr Google is only encouraging me to have increasingly rare conditions.....

The DC were almost asleep this evening when DP came home - he is just incapable of being quiet and staying calm to get them to sleep - I can hear them crashing about and shrieking via the baby monitor, letting him deal with them being complete pains Angry

Howlongtillbedtime · 12/09/2018 07:54

Morning all . Looks like everyone is doing fab !
My plan today is
B toast and a banana
L soup
D I cooked a ham the other day and have a load left so ham salad and new pots it is.

Snacks sunbites and an apple.

No booze today either which will be day 3 . I know this shouldn't be unusual but it really is for me.The glass in the evening to unwind from the day has become a very bad habit here.

OP posts:
AromaticSpices · 12/09/2018 10:30

Well done howlong, the booze habit is a difficult one to break.

Went to a leaving do last night, i had a few bits from the buffet which i have allowed 380 calories for the food as some was fried and there was goats cheese etc. Then two glasses of prosecco. Home and had a egg and mushroom omelette and still within calories for the day.

I'm not sure what today's food plan is really. May have sushi/sashimi for lunch and maybe a sausage casserole for dinner with lots of veg.

AlanBrazil · 12/09/2018 17:02

Afternoon all

B Banana, peanut butter & oat protein shake

L Tin of tuna with celery and spring onion. Salad leaves

D Quinoa wrap with avocado, turkey and egg. Nectarine and clementines

WickedGoodDoge · 12/09/2018 21:04

I cheated yesterday and had the last two snickerdoodle cookies that I’d baked at the end of last week. They were getting past their best and needed throwing out which I couldn’t bring myself to do as I love them so. Blush

No cheating today, though- weights at the gym followed by protein drink, couscous with chicken and veg for lunch and a chicken with orzo, feta and olives for dinner (small portion as high in calories). Plus zillions of cups of caramel rooibos tea.

Cherrysherbet · 12/09/2018 21:25

wicked I have no idea what a snickerdoodle cookie tastes like.....but I think I'd like it! 😋

Everyone is doing so well.

I had a really hungry day yesterday, following my Monday fast. I stuck to my calories though, and today has been easier.
Fasting tomorrow, which I am fine about because it's a busy day.

Going to have some scrambled egg now with my remaining calories, then that will see me through until dinner time tomorrow.

Have a good day tomorrow everyone.
