Getting slim over the summer failed so how about less fat before Christmas?

Howlongtillbedtime · 02/09/2018 10:25

I had great intentions at the beginning of the summer but the barbecues and the wine and the ice cream and the generally being out of routine ruined all that.

Well technically me being a greedy shite ruined it !!

So my next goal is Christmas.

I need to lose 3 stone and I am going to be realistic for a change and look at a stone and a half by then.

Anyone care to join me ?

And if you could hang around and give me a kick every now and then that would be great too !

Morning!
Day one and two have gone well, I've been within my calorie goal easily.
However, today the kids return to work and so the chocolate will be tempting I think! Going to try and keep the willpower strong.
I weighed myself this morning too and I'm already down 2lbs which must be water weight, but still happy with that! Keep hydrated people!!!Grin

NiceUnusualDifferent · 05/09/2018 07:07

Well done send! I’m trying to resist checking myself but don’t think i’ll Last until Monday.
13.5 Hour shift went well yesterday but need to take more food. I only had a small houmus salad sandwich for dinner and could’ve done with more really. Lots and lots of cakes around at work and I resisted them all Smile
Day 3 today - have a good one everybody

TheVeryHungryDieter · 05/09/2018 07:42

I'm a bit late but I want to join! Came back from my summer holidays in August weighing 85kgs 😮 which for my height puts me at clinically obese and a good stone over my "fat weight" (the weight at which I start to feel uncomfortably fat and can't bend easily, which is 78kgs).

I've had MFP on my phone for ages but looking back at it I realised I haven't even been down to my fat-weight for over a year. That's got to change!

In the last four weeks since I got back, I've started logging my meals on MFP rather than just my weight, and I joined a gym as DD started preschool this week and I finally have some alone time. She's 3 and I never lost the baby weight.

I'm down the first 10lbs now. The first 9 was easy but the last pound has been a major struggle and took a week to shed.

13kgs to lose in total, about 8kgs left to go...

I officially hit my late 30s in December, so that's my goal. I've never been slim in my 30s as DS was born weeks before I turned 30.

Good morning everyone.

Not the best day yesterday . I ended up going to a friend's wake that was still going on after school. I'm actually glad I went , it was weird not going to the funeral and was nice to be able to see everyone.
But it did mean I had a couple of drinks so not ideal.

Back on track today
B Boiled egg and a slice of toast
L. Soup and a banana
D. Salmon (we didn't manage it last night)
Snack will be mini cheddars.
Will go to the gym after work. It is next door to work so I have no excuse.

I am already seeing that I am relying on the same food all the time . Need to have a think for some inspiration. And will have a look at everyone else's ideas too.

Good luck to everyone today. Just one day !

Morning all. Day 3

I have to be good today, it's my day off so there will be temptation . My kids are coming round for tea later and I'm cooking a roast and there will be pudding.

My plan today is to tackle the garden and clean the house to keep busy.

Good luck today fellow chubsters Grin

AromaticSpices · 05/09/2018 09:33

Yesterday wasn't the best. Why do I struggle so much to eat healthily??

New day today. Plan is for chicken salad for lunch. Apple for about 5pm so I am not tempted to buy something rubbish on the way to the station. Then I'm not sure re dinner tonight, I think I have to do some driving to pick up DS who has been staying with my MIL for a few days so I'm not sure what I'll do...

WickedGoodDoge · 05/09/2018 11:15

Both DC are choked with really bad colds. I have told them I will murdalize them if they dare pass it to me and I end up struggling against comfort eating and not being able to exercise!

cherryheath · 05/09/2018 12:14

Wicked I hope that your kids get well soon. Hopefully you won't catch it.

TheVeryHungryDieter · 05/09/2018 12:25

I am starving and have eaten my lunch (salad) at 11am. I was getting used to smaller portions but ever since I started going to the gym last week I'm much hungrier!

Any ideas for a no-cook light snack?

holycityzoo · 05/09/2018 12:26

Hi may I join you?
I've had a really bad summer in terms of food (lots of fun though!) now it's time to shift it though.
I'm rejoining slimming world tonight and I'm actually quite excited I'm sick of hating myself.

CaseStudyResearch · 05/09/2018 13:37

Travelling again with work and the only option for lunch is Wetherspoons! Saving grace is that they publish the calories on the menu so I could make informed decisions.

I had a bbq Chicken panini with salad so about 750 calories. Tonight will be a beef burrito bowl, so lots of veggies but less cheese/sour cream.

Hopefully end around 1300-1500 calories for the day.

NiceUnusualDifferent · 05/09/2018 14:39

Struggling today, it’s cold and I’m tired so the tempts to sit with a cuppa and packet of biscuits is strong!
B - weetabix & banana
L- chicken wrap - not a good one!
D - slimming world bolognese, I’ll make extra to take to work tomorrow so fingers crossed it keeps me fuller

AromaticSpices · 05/09/2018 15:17

Can anyone recommend a good TDEE calculator that doesn't involve me giving my email address so they can send it to me and endless marketing rubbish?

weegiemum · 05/09/2018 16:15

I'd like to join in. Lost 3.5 stone with SW from Feb-June. Went on holiday for 3 weeks in July and gained a stone back. Haven't been for 3 weeks, going back tonight!! I'd like to lose 4 stone by Christmas. That's still only half what I need to lose, but if I'm careful, it's doable!

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/09/2018 19:33

How's everyone got on today ?

So far so good here.
I have been to the gym
No booze
Stuck to food plan , cooking dinner now and I am starving so it better be good !

I need to get a new battery for my scales which is annoying but it is stopping me getting on them every day .

Hope your dinner was good howlong, what did you have?

I had a good day today. Went shopping in Aldi, and picked up a lovely veggie pot meal thingy for lunch! I think it was called 'soul food?' or something like that. It had chickpeas, spinach and butternut squash in it. Just the right amount of spice. Only 372 cals. It was delicious, and kept me full all afternoon. I'll be having it again!

Hope everyone is on track today. Good food days all round tomorrow...

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/09/2018 21:56

I had the salmon and potatoes which i was supposed to have last night. Was yummy.

I have roasted a chicken breast and I am going to make chicken salad for lunch tomorrow .
Feeling very organised and I am so glad to have made a start.

Thinking of it one day at a time is really helping.

Nice to hear everyone's updates. Going pretty well here, I've been exercising that "no" muscle! Haven't gone crazy but have been pretty modest and sensible with food past 3 days. Feel like it's a battle to get my body to WANT to lose any weight atm so will see what the scales say come Monday. Must remember to keep hydrated - good tip! Have managed some short brisk walks, will continue to try to keep a decent level of activity going. Night all!

Cherrysherbet · 06/09/2018 06:10

Remembering to drink is a fault of mine. Ive woken up with a migraine today, and it is probably because I didn't drink enough yesterday. Just had a coffee, so must have a glass of water before I leave for work in a minute.

I'm on a fast day, so nothing for me until dinner tonight. I've got a big bottle of squash in my bag for my break.

Have a good day everyone.

Silvertap · 06/09/2018 06:30

I do that too cherry. Particularly in the afternoons. Yesterday ok for me. Snuck in an extra cheese pitta at teatime off the kids plate but no other late night snacking.

Today
B - egg on toast
L - sunshine salad
T - chicken, new pots and veg.

Am aiming for a run this morning but v tired and got a lot to do so don't know if I'll manage it. On the bright side I've got a massage this evening which I'm so looking forwards too!

Howlongtillbedtime · 06/09/2018 06:53

Morning all
I keep toying with doing the 5:2 cherry but the idea of not eating until dinner time sounds painful. Good luck!

My day is
B. Boiled egg and toast
L. Chicken salad
D. No idea but possibly an omelette and sweet potato wedges.

Not sure I should eat 3 eggs in one day so might have to re think dinner Looking for inspiration.

A massage sounds perfect silver enjoy.

Hello everyone

A kilo down already according to my scales! Exciting. Have been doing 16:8 and calorie counting.

I was under my calorie target yesterday, only 966 in total. I still felt like i'd had a decent amount though. my day ended up looking like:

  • two chicken thighs, lettuce, tomato and cucumber with an olive oil and lemon juice dressing
  • apple, 1 x snack a jack jumbo caramel
  • prawn mayo sandwich from sainsbos (had to eat in the car last night) and a bag of bbq popchips

Had about 2l of water and herbal teas and black coffee on top of that.

Feeling unsure about today, planning on same lunch as yesterday and then I have work drinks tonight. Free wine and beer but i think we get one or two free g&ts so will try and stick to g&t and alternate with diet coke i think, should also help avoid the hangover! There'll be some platters of food so will have to make some good choices.... wish me luck! Hopefully the calorie deficit from yesterday might help offset if i go a little over today...

RubySlippers77 · 06/09/2018 14:54

Well done Spices 👏 I haven't weighed again yet or gone back to WW - this week has been catching up with 'me' stuff after six looooong weeks with no time to do it!! Eyebrows are threaded, new glasses ordered, bikini wax booked...

Having to rest this afternoon though, think I've overdone it with too much running around during my child-free time. I had an awful virus at the beginning of the year and even now can't do too much in case I start to ache and shiver.

Going to start menu planning later - wish me luck everyone as I find it incredibly boring Shock

Cherrysherbet · 06/09/2018 21:08

I know it sounds extreme, but it's the only way I have ever managed to lose weight. I did it twice a week for 3.5 yrs. I lost 2.5st in the first 7 months, and kept it off for the rest of that time. You do need to give your body ( and mind) a good few weeks to adjust to the fasting, but once you get used to it, it's really quite easy. It's just a case of skipping breakfast and lunch, and keeping busy!
I like the fact that I can eat a 'normal' amount of cals (2000) on the other five days, and I don't have to eat 'diet foods'. My appetite decreased after the first few weeks too. It's not for everyone, but I find it much easier than restricting myself every day.

Today has been ok. I worked until 2pm, came home and had dinner at 5pm. Done nothing but pee today (tmi!) and actually feel better for it, as I think I was holding a lot of fluid due to the amount of rubbish I was eating. My work trousers are feeling a bit comfier already!

Having a coffee now, then bed soon.

Tomorrow I'm working 6:30am - 2pm again, so won't eat until my break at 12ish. I know I will be quite hungry by then! Then I'll have a nice sandwich and lots of cherry toms( which I usually have anyway).

Good luck with the menu planning Ruby it's never an exciting task!

cherryheath · 07/09/2018 06:52

I had a shocking day food wise yesterday. Woke up full of cold, felt sorry for myself and ate comfort food/junk all day.
