Diff aims, diff gains ...
I follow iifym with Team RH, I'm struggling a bit with my health this year so progress isn't as fast as last year but it's taught me so much about myself, my body and why I'm important, most importantly because I'm satisfied with my food I don't binge
Goals:
StarWeights section of gym
Star Size 10 clothes
Star 35lbs weight loss

Yes I can see why you are on 1600 then. Apart from last week I consistently get my 15,000 a day so that bit I was happy enough about. I found it really hard to get the protein level at 1700, whereas the lower level at 1800 seems pretty good. Anyway we’ll see. I felt beat down the last 2 weeks so I’ll take feeling this way over that.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 14/08/2018 17:18

Definitely and you're in it for the long haul, I definitely feel way better on Team RH than I have on any other plan

Ooh danger zone! Super valu by any chance😉 What flavour would you recommend?
Oh totally agree about the team rh thing, I think that might have been why I felt so down, like if I couldn’t do this I must be a total loser!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 14/08/2018 19:16

Yup Grin

I like the peanut nutter! Love jaffa quake but they didn't have that flavour online

I know what you mean but it's bloody hard sticking to 1600. I've been binge eating like I dunno what tonight but it's most likely cos I messed up meal times today.
Still hovering round the same weight with zero tracking of anything do not too shabby.

Going on holiday on Thursday though but I don't do blow outs more than I would here so should be ok

Not2bObvious · 14/08/2018 23:16

You’re probably due a diet break life, or at the very least increase your cals to 2100 for your holidays as recommended. I have a weekend away coming up, I’m going to have to stick to my 1800 though, I’ve dropped the ball too much the last few weeks. But a increase for you might be exactly what you need.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 15/08/2018 00:03

I didn't hear about that increase until after my holiday Sad but I didn't track at all on holiday so it's immaterial really.

Hope you enjoy the break life

Judging by your small gain and subsequent losses mammy, you self regulated v well on holidays, probably inadvertently allowed yourself just enough extra not to feel deprived. I have a week away in October & first of all, sad as it sounds, I am bringing my scales. Probably sound like a right killjoy but I go away a good number of times each year, gain anything from 3-7lbs & I need to crack the behaviour. Else I’m never ever going to shift this last 2 stone. And I really want to before proper old age sets in.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 15/08/2018 07:50

My steps rocketed while on holiday and I ate reasonably well, allowed myself an icecream everyday.

I was going to bring my scales to my parents at the weekend for weighing myself and didn't but I did bring my kitchen scales with me, and I also bring it to work most days, must pick up a spare one for there.

I was thrilled with being rid of the holiday gain so quickly this time around, without being deprived.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/08/2018 09:13

There are some food scales on Amazon that are recommended aren't there? Folding ones.

Not sure about travel bathroom scales = different scales calibrated differently and all that.
I'm not tracking at all until I get back. I will be ok and if I'm not then I have to deal with it.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 15/08/2018 09:53

You deserve the holiday and the break from it all, you'll pick up again when you're home.

NSV jeans that I bought perhaps 2/3 years ago when I was doing ok losing weight before fit me tonight!!!
Noticed my work jeans were loose around waist so thought I'd try some of my old smaller ones! Felt great at gig I went to. Ate lasagne & chips out but had loads of calories for them, and drank soda water & lime all night. Grin

How's everyone doing? I ate out Sunday, Wednesday & last night, scales is on the rise, it'll get sorted again next week

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 17/08/2018 08:50

Doing pretty good, although I am going this morning & it’ll be tough to stay on track but I’m going to give it my best. Weight is dropping nicely, if I don’t lose the plot this weekend I’ll have got shot of my gain and back on track.

Not2bObvious · 17/08/2018 08:54

Btw mammy congrats on the nsv! That should spur you on, a couple of nights out does mess with the scales but then again it’s probably just bloat & fluid retention from saltier restaurant food. Guzzle the water and get back on track, it’ll drop again

mammynowanauntyIRL · 17/08/2018 18:17

Enjoy time away
Have a red raw throat & was out late Sunday tues wed & thurs night will flood myself with water but Sunday average won't be redeemed but I'm ok with that

Not2bObvious · 18/08/2018 22:37

Ahh poor you! A bad throat is horrible. Having a lovely time down the ancient east☺️

Just signing back in as I fell off the thread. Clearly my head is just not in the game at all ATM :( absolutely fuck all willpower.

Had a bit of a wake up call. DD1 (11 and autistic) is having a mandatory break from her melatonin and that means we need to be much stricter on sugar (and caffeine in chocolate) as it affects her sleep too. It's brought home just how much she normally has and she is quite shocked herself how much she is struggling!

I know it could be a lot worse but I have been complacent particularly as her weight is healthy (she is beautifully slim and fit, BMI on lower end of green for her age) but seeing her struggle with cutting down has really brought it home. It's tricky as she has an obsessive streak due to the ASD.

Anyway we have agreed that going forward we would like to not buy snack foods, but instead learn to bake, now that we have a decent oven! So we can still have treats but they will be less often, we can control how much sugar goes in and we have to 'work' for it (ie making the effort to buy and cook ingredients and clean up rather than just opening a packet). She was really up for that. I think it'll help all of us, we are all sugar fiends. I actually worry more about DS' weight but he is still in the green zone himself and can regulate himself better.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 19/08/2018 07:02

Cag thats a very difficult lesson for a child so young but it will help you all.

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 19/08/2018 07:36

Oh cag that's hard. Baking is a good idea. It used to be on a Sunday when the oven was in for the big dinner when I was young, then had for tea that night.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/08/2018 07:37

Sugar, and bastard sweetener, is in do much these days.

I'm trying to make sensible choices and not going to stress it too much here

northender · 19/08/2018 08:08

Joining in if that's okay?
I've had pretty much lifelong issues with food which there's no need to go into now. Since dc I've only dipped under 16 stone once which was about 10 years ago when I followed the Food Doctor plan for a few months. It is fantastic for me as it is 10 principles to stick to, one of which is to stick to them. 80% of the time! They are all eminently sensible and do work for me.
I'm currently around 110kg (I'm now working in kg), down from 119 around 18 months ago. I did get to 106 last year but health problems for me and ds led to my response of overeating again, doing less exercise and...voila. I have a pair of trousers which are a good marker and I am almost back to where I was a year ago in them.
My current target is to get comfortably under 110 and then hopefully to get to 100 by Christmas. I am focussing on exercise, I go to a fantastic small studio where there are no mirrors, the exercise is based around small classes, a lot of circuits & HIIT type stuff. Ideally I go 4 or 5 times a week but don't always manage. Food wise I try to follow the 10 FD principles. I'm 46 and am now finding as I get older it is getting harder to lose weight Sad.
Dd is 13, is a similar base build to me and has my propensity to gain weight and for emotional eating so we are working together on healthy eating & exercise. Last night it was just us for tea so we had spiced chicken breast, salad and HM sweet potato fries. We made it together, it was delicious and totally satisfying. Today I'm planning a smoothie for breakfast (frozen mango & berries, yoghurt, cottage cheese and oats, sounds odd but is delicious!), it'll be a burger for lunch at the cricket and then roast chicken, potatoes & veg for tea. Rest day today, circuits class planned for tomorrow.
Haven't read back fully on the thread, but will try to post at least every couple of days.

northender · 19/08/2018 08:12

life I try to avoid sweeteners but it's so hard. I don't drink tea or coffee so mainly drink water, but at least once a day I like to have a flavoured drink ie cordial, but trying to find one without artificial sweeteners is so difficult. I now buy a posh one and try to use it sparingly! With cordials I think a bit of sugar is better than tons of artificial nasties.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 19/08/2018 08:51

North that sounds like a great food day planned out.
