Oops Quim. I had a similar quantity of wine last night. Did eat dinner though.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 20/07/2018 14:10

Hi all. I'm still on holiday! Only 4 more days though. Three weeks of not cooking has been lovely. I don't feel like I've gained loads. All shorts still fit.

The food has been a mix of quite healthy grilled fish, rice and salad and fast food to keep dd happy. I've developed a bit of a fizzy drink habit but on the other hand I've been quite active and we haven't really had any snacks.

Home on Tuesday so I'll post on Wednesday to review the damage and make a start on my post holiday diet Smile

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 20/07/2018 14:11

Sorry forgot to say congratulations to all who have lost and welcome new faces. Also quantum I love your new user name. Big TP fan here.

MissingPanda · 20/07/2018 16:25

Comforte welcome to the thread.

Misericord well done on resisting the treats.

Cider glad ds's friend is okay.Do 't worry too much about the crisps etc. Concentrate on hetting into the right mindset then start afresh.

Quim I think the least said the better. Just put it behind you. The law of sod will mean tbat you'll probably lose more weight next weigh in than after your golden days so it may have a silver lining.

Yesterday wasn't a particularly good day for me either. It started off okay but I did a sleep the night before and that day's shift was 2 hours longer than normal so by the time I got home I was tired. We're also in the middle of decorating so dd (who had been doing some painting) decided to order takeaway so I joined her and instead of the salmon, new potatoes and salad I'd planned I had zinger chicken burger (with mayo), fries and onion rings Blush I didn't even attempt to log all that.

MissingPanda · 20/07/2018 16:28

Oops, meant to say glad you're enjoying your holiday Kick

CiderwithBuda · 22/07/2018 08:56

Another two nights of too much wine. And crisps, cheese and crackers and half a packet of biscuits last night. Ugh. No more alcohol for me now for a bit.

Did a 6k walk yesterday though. And will do again today.

And I haven’t been tracking on MFP since we got back so will start that again today.

ponygirlcurtis · 22/07/2018 10:10

Your holiday sounds great Kick.

I really want to go to the gym but DS2 has had me up ridiculously early every morning this week - it was 5.20am today. I am just wiped out but I know the gym will help with energy levels.

QuimReaper · 23/07/2018 11:17

Heeeeello all! Good Lord, this is the hottest morning ever. Horribly oppressive.

I'm going to be as golden as golden can be this week, just you wait! I was another 300g up on Thursday morning before the Death by Wine, making 900g in total, and inevitably, Friday was a survival mode write-off. I had sort of hoped to break even, three indulgent days for three golden ones (two of which were very golden indeed. The weight is really sticking like a bitch at the moment, I can't seem to shift it at all. I'm convinced it's something to do with the heat. (And nothing at all to do with all the cheese and wine said heat impels me to scarf...)

HappyGowerGirl · 23/07/2018 11:44

Hey guys, It’s not been a good weekend for me!!! I’ve been ill and so unable to exercise, I tried making good decisions about food but wasn’t completely successful. Didn’t even weigh myself today or yesterday as I’m still ill, in pain and grumpy.

However am determined to eat sensibly this week to make up for this weekend’s damage. Gainng weight is only going to make me feel
more shit and I don’t want to ruin my good work!!! Will weigh tomorrow morning to assess damage. FML.

Well yesterday didn’t go to plan. No walk as was shattered - fell asleep three times in the sofa. Wine and crisps again last night.

But today is the start of a new week. Weighed in and have lost a pound of my holiday gain. Walked this morning and will again this afternoon. No wine for me. And eating well. Greek yoghurt and a nectarine for breakfast and I had chicken and salad for lunch. Not sure about dinner yet.

CiderwithBuda · 23/07/2018 13:32

Quim - are you eating enough? Not sure what your golden weeks are!

HappyGowerGirl · 24/07/2018 07:52

Cider well done on losing a pound of your holiday weight. Onwards and downwards😀

I stepped on the scales this morning and weighed in at 60.5kg (or 9.7). This is about the same as I was last week ago. I had a golden day yesterday ⭐️ but the weekend was not great, so I’ll take that. Still really hoping to break the 60kg barrier this month! It should be possible I hope😬

Gower are you feeling any better? A STS after being ill is a win in my book, I always see illness as carte blanche to paste myself to the sofa and eat everything that crosses my mind!

Cider well done, that holiday weight'll be a goner in no time. WRT eating enough, I've just realised you weren't on the Slenderistas thread when I was developing my eating strategy. I roughly follow the 5:2 with two other "golden days" thrown in, known as Quim's Patented 2:2:3 diet: two fast days, two "good" days - no booze, carbs, etc., lots of steps - and 3 "do whatever the hell you like" days (Fri-Sun). It's how I lost about 20-25lbs (sloooooowly) and keep my weight in check, and I usually manage to kick small gains quite quickly by following it carefully. F'rinstance, the beginning of this year was a disaster for me in terms of mid-week activity, and by the end of Feb I was 2kg up, but on a run of four Golden Weeks (that's what I call a successful 2:2:3) I lost a Linda a week in March like clockwork and got myself back. This time I ended up with a similar gain after a crazy June, and tried to blitz it off with ten golden days on the trot (i.e. business as usual but with a golden weekend, rather than a "do what you like" weekend - this is what I call a "Golden Stint", I've done it about three times before with great effect), but the weight was being sticky and I got a really disappointing final weigh in. Then I stupidly went out on Thursday so the balance for last week was shot too and I'm still treading water. I'm just feeling impatient!

CiderwithBuda · 24/07/2018 12:19

Thanks for th explanation Quim! It sounds fairly complicated in some ways but I like that it gives you room for normal sociable weekends. I can be good all week and lose and then gain it all back in wine and crap over a weekend. Your approach is probably fairly good for your metabolism too as your body is never getting used to one thing as your calorie intake varies. Although it also might be that your low calorie intake in the week triggers binging at the weekend. But it works for you and that’s what matters!

I had a very good day yesterday. Two walks so over 16k steps. Food was just over 1100 cals. And no booze or crisps or crap!

Busy day so far today. Up early and out for a walk - 5.6km. Back home to take dog to vet. Then did Sainsbury’s. Then vacuumed. Would have thought I would have hit 10k steps by now but I haven’t. Have a new Fitbit Blaze and it doesn’t seem to ramp the step count up as much as my Alta. Odd. DH reckons it’s probably more accurate.

HappyGowerGirl · 25/07/2018 07:00

Nice work on all the steps Cider!

Thanks for asking Quim I’m still feeling quite ill, however one benefit is that I have a tiny appetite. As a result I weighed is this morning at 59.8kg (9.5)! Haven’t weighed below 60kg since January I think😮 Won’t quite believe it till I see it a few days in a row though...

MissingPanda · 25/07/2018 09:32

Well done Cider and Gower on your weight loss. Fingers crossed that it stays under 60kg Gower

Weigh in day for me. The less said about this last week the better for me Hmm Since last Thursday I haven't stopped eating chocolate Blush TOTM started Monday which explained the cravings and thankfully they seemed to have eased.

Today I'm out for lunch so I'm just going to enjoy myself and climb back on the wagon tomorrow. Have a good day everyone.

QuimReaper · 25/07/2018 10:05

WHOOP Happy you've done it! You've broken the milestone! Hurrah for illness! Grin

Cider are you on the FitBit challenge with us? I hate it when you feel like you "deserve" more steps than you've got! A couple of weekends ago I spent hours slogging in the garden, mowing the lawn, clearing out loads of crap and lugging things back and forth, and I was furious that I didn't get 10K steps just by doing that! Obviously it was good for me anyway, but I wanted the FitBit to congratulate me to validate it...

My 2:2:3 thing isn't really complicated, I just made it sound it by rambling on for a whole paragraph. It's basically just being good during the week and letting loose on the weekend. I managed to lose a couple of Lindas a month steadily this way (it was more like a Linda a week to start with, but as I got lighter it petered out) with a couple of big pushes like I did earlier this month, and more or less manage to maintain, so if I'm bingeing I guess I'm at least clawing it straight back. Actually I usually have the opposite problem: I think I want loads of delicious things, but then the weekend rolls around and I don't fancy them as much as I did when I wasn't allowed them. I think my stomach shrinks a bit during the week so, especially on Fridays, I can't manage a huge repast after all. (Shame wine isn't filling...!)

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 25/07/2018 10:33

Hello all!

I'm back! Landed last night and it's good to be home after 3.5 weeks although I could have happily stayed longer. We've had such an amazing time.

Anyway due to time difference I've been awake since 4am and the first thing I did was weigh myself. And the damage is ... 3lb gained! It has tipped me over to 11' 1oz though.

I'm delighted with that. Three weeks of restaurant meals, fizzy drinks and relaxation - although with daily swimming, lots of walking and a two-day trek up a volcano to balance it out. I think I'll lose that pretty quickly because that's coming off a 22hr journey with nothing but plane food and airport snacks, so I hope I should be back under 11 stone fairly quickly.

My priority now is to get back into some healthy habits to allow for sitting at a desk for 8 hrs a day again.

Hope everyone is doing ok and well done to Gower for getting under 60, but I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Quim - no not on Fitbit challenge. How do I do that?

Welcome back Kick! Sounds like a great holiday. Don’t do what I did and continue in holiday mode! The weight will come off quickly. Especially after th long flight. You will have retained lots of fluid I’d say.

Koko - will have a look at your other thread. We all get like that though. It’s bloody hard!

I ended up having medicinal wine last night. Managed to burn my hand cooking - grabbed the handle of a pan that had just come out of the oven. Numpty. DH made me keep it under the cold tap for ten minutes and then in iced water. I was more worried about frostbite at one stage! Didn’t eat much dinner but had quite a bit of wine and a packet of crisps and cheese and biscuits. Tracked calories and was a bit over but had been very under on Monday. And other than a little redness and one sore spot hand is ok.

Did my walk this morning too. And will be cleaning out the garage later with DH so hoping for loads of steps!

HappyGowerGirl · 25/07/2018 13:28

Koko, I read your post, I’m sorry your feeling lost:-(

It sound like you need to get off the diet merry go round. One thing I would suggest is just to forget diets altogether and try to make ONE small change (e.g. no more crisps, no wine midwek, no late night snacking). Then stick to it - it’s so much more manageable when it’s just one small thing! Then when you’ve mastered that add another.

Be kind to yourself, we have all been there xxx

ponygirlcurtis · 25/07/2018 17:56

Ow Cider - hope your hand is OK.

Welcome back Kick, that sounds a great holiday! You will see that 3lbs off in no time.

Koko sorry you are feeling so stuck. I think the key thing is to be kind of to yourself - it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy if you keep beating yourself up for not meeting the targets you set. I would also suggest getting off the diet loop and just try to have healthy, nourishing food.

poorpaws · 25/07/2018 22:15

koko I don’t know anything but I’m sending you a big hug.
