poorpaws WHOOP WHOOP! A dry bunga! That means you should be able to switch the boiler back on soon, surely? Man alive though, it never rains but it pours - what rotten luck about your car on top of everything else. Is it bad?
You're right about the refeed and the whoosh, I've noticed it before actually - not so much that I've got on the scales after a refeed (too scared) but sometimes I've had a bit of a celebration, then got out of bed the next morning and looked noticeably more streamlined. I think it's to do with carbs, salt, booze etc. being very dehydrating? Apparently body builders do this disgusting-sounding thing called a "dry refeed", where they finally get to gorge on carbs after a period of fasting and hard workouts, but they have little to no liquid. Eugh. I believe it's what they do before a show, to dehydrate their bodies, so all the moisture is sucked out (i.e. they get a whoosh, of water retention at least) and their muscles "pop" more.
On the subject of weigh-ins though, I went wild and had another one this morning. I was so bitterly disappointed to have only lost 200g over two incredibly golden days that I decided to disregard it and try again (also because I got up to pee like THREE TIMES last night, which is apparently another "whoosh indicator", and, well, desperate times) ...And I'm down 600g from yesterday! So 800g since Friday morning. Not too shabby after all. As predicted, it means I'll probably just get back to goal by Friday rather than getting under it, which annoys me, but I had no realistic reason to expect otherwise. (Lots of unrealistic ones though, like "sometimes miracles happen" and "but I've been so good, I should get extra credit" and "but I threw away the rest of that amazing cheese" and "I still haven't had a single ice cream and it's a HEATWAVE"...)
Welcome Connebert! Health reasons are very welcome indeed. The height / weight thing is a slippery one - I think it's a lot to do with build. I'm a scrawny apple, so although I'm 167 (a smidge under 5'6) so on the taller rather than the shorter side of average, my weight goal is heaps lower than other people my height and even shorter. I think I just don't have as much bone mass, so my starting weight is lower. (Also I have no muscle...
) It's one of the reasons you see people on MN soapboxing about BMI being "TOTAL AND UTTER BUNKUM AND SHOULD BE PUNISHABLE BY DEATH" - obviously I don't even slightly agree with that, but there's definitely a jolly wide range of weights within slim people of the same height. It baffles me when you have those "if you are 5'6, what do you weigh?" threads and you get people saying "I'm 65kg, I dropped to 60 once and I looked gaunt and people asked me if I was dying".
