Been really good last few days (although had a packet of crisps last night - within calories though and still had some to spare) and sneaky weigh in this morning has me at 15 st 4.4. Was 15 st 6.8 on Monday and then had Monday’s feast.

Official pre holiday weigh in is tomorrow. Would love to get under 15st 4. So another half pound would be good. I see lots of water in my day today!

DH is back this evening and was muttering about a curry tonight so will make a healthy one rather than order in and will get him some bhajis and poppadoms from Sainsbury’s.

HappyGowerGirl - I can’t ever imagine seeing 9.9 on the scales!

QuimReaper · 06/07/2018 08:51

Well, first weigh in of the Golden Sprint and... well. Bit disappointing. After four platinum days, probably the best I've ever had, I'm still a Linda up on two weeks ago Sad It's more or less what I expected, but having been so good, I was secretly hoping it'd be a better start.

Still. This is the upper limit of my acceptable weight and at the very least, in the next week I'll get back down to my Goal Weight. I was hoping to dip below it, but hey ho. I must have been positively porcine when I started this thing Shock It's exactly what I deserve though, since my last weigh-in two weeks ago I've had six golden days and eight pig-out days! (5:2 "eat what you like on the other days" my arse.)

On a brighter note, yesterday evening I was feeling really wrung out and a bit depressed and really couldn't be bothered to go out for a walk. I dragged myself out the door reminding myself that I've never actually regretted doing it, and also that it wasn't optional so there was no point bellyaching and putting it off, and I had the most wonderful walk ever! I went over Hampstead Heath which I do quite often, but I ended up going further north to a part I'd never been to before and up to another park entirely and it was staggeringly beautiful, I couldn't believe in 30 years of living in London I'd never been to that part! So suffice it to say, far from regretting it, it was possibly the best walk I've ever had Smile

CiderwithBuda · 06/07/2018 09:19

That sounds lovely Quim. I should have gone for a walk. But I sat on my fat arse and watched tv.

Hoolahoophop · 06/07/2018 15:29

Hey all, ive been absent a while with holiday and being busy at work. Back now and planning on hopping back on the waggon Monday. I'm up 4lb in the last 2-3 weeks with paying no attention to diet. So not too bad. Will go back and try to catch up on how you are all doing now. Just wanted to get back on the thread before I loose you all again.

MissingPanda · 06/07/2018 17:01

Thanks everyone. I think Quim is right a lot is bloat, June was that bad foodwise that it's like being on a new diet. The important thing is that the numbers are going down.

Yesterday was okay. Could have been healthier but was still within calorie allowance. Today not so good. I went to town and they had a food festival on. I had Japanese fried chicken in a teritaki sauce. I did have it with the steamed rice instead of the chips but couldn't resist a chimney cake later on. The cake was made from a Hungarian dough and was accompanied by ice-cream, marshmallows and raspberry sauce Blush I also had a gin & tonic, with berries in which turned it pink, and tried a berry bellini Hmm Still it's just one day, I'll be back calorie counting tomorrow.

Quim glad you had a lovely walk. I'm sure you'll be at goal weight in no time.

Gower when I first started losing weight the weight loss itself was reward but now I think I'll start thinking of some rewards to encourage me.

Cider fingers crossed for that pound.

KOKO

ponygirlcurtis · 07/07/2018 08:08

How are things Hoola?

Quim it's so frustrating when that happens - we get so caught up with what we are doing right now with eating that we expect the scales to reflect it in the same time scale. I reckon your platinum days will have the desired impact but they might take a few more days for it to show on the scales.

That food all sounds amazing Panda!

CiderwithBuda · 07/07/2018 08:48

MissingPanda - all sounds yum! I was on a weight loss thread on here years ago which was quite strident for want of a better word but general consensus was that going off plan for something special was ok. So a food festival with foods you don’t have every day is ok. Eating a crappy family size bag of crisps and the kids chocolate is not. Going out and enjoying a special meal that you wouldn’t have often is ok. Eating the children’s leftovers and then mindlessly snacking in front of the tv is not.

So drumroll.........official pre-holiday weigh in!

Down from yesterday’s 15 st 4.4 to 15 st 3.6 which gives me a total loss so far of a smidgin over 10lbs. Since 21May. So not very fast!

I don’t look different but I do feel much better.

Exercise has been rubbish this week but planning on exercising while away. And being mindful of what I’m eating.

So I’ll probably keep checking in to try to keep me on track.

Packing and travelling up to Gatwick today. Driving this afternoon while football is in so hoping for empty roads!

Have a good day all!

HappyGowerGirl · 07/07/2018 10:43

Some amazing losses on here!

Having thought about it I think I will treat myself to a nice piece of clothing when I reach goal weight (and stay there for a few days).

Forgot to weigh myself this morning but feeling good, hope to have a good weekend & will weigh tomorrow morning.

Good luck all!

QuimReaper · 07/07/2018 11:31

Oh Cider I think 10lbs in six-odd weeks is brilliant progress, I think you oughta be chuffed as chips with that! Have an absolutely wonderful holiday, hope you're going somewhere beautiful?

pony I'm kind of hoping my platinum days "catch up with me" when I next weigh in - I really did barely eat at all for four days and I had racked up about 90K steps! But I did sort of predict that this would be the weight, it's just as you say - when you're in the process of being gloriously golden, you feel so virtuous that you start to spin off into wild visions of scale results, and drifting off in a light breeze Grin

It seems to be a bit easier to not eat in this heat (not that it held me back from eating everything I saw last weekend...) so I'm hoping I can keep it up and be extra-super-good for the next week. It's nice to be into the weekend, as the prospect of a virtuous weekend always makes me grumpy, although inevitably the reality isn't so bad. Although I'm definitely feeling a little hard-done-by that I'm sitting in my garden in the exact spot I was last weekend, except last weekend I had a chilled glass of Picpoul, fresh bread and fruit and a load of cheese! Roll on next weekend Grin

QuimReaper · 07/07/2018 12:00

Panda I agree with Cider, life is FAR too short to not eat at a food festival! It's hard and boring that food makes us fat, but it's also one of life's great pleasures, and eating unusual things from around the world is especially awesome, so I don't think you should feel guilty at all. I'd look at it as limiting nonsense like crisps and chips which you can have any old time, in order to be able to enjoy amazing new flavours, or special restaurant meals prepared by trained chefs.

Hoola welcome back, hope you all had a lovely relaxing holiday - you certainly deserve it Smile

MissingPanda · 07/07/2018 19:57

Pony it was amazing. There was a lot of choice too, really difficult to choose what to eat. It's not something my town does often so it was a nice change that I really enjoyed.

Cider and Quim you're both right. It was a different experience that I really enjoyed and not the extra large crisps/bar of chocolate that make me think I've ruined my diet. Thinking about it it's something I will have to learn when I reach goal weight. How to enjoy a blow out and then get back on the maintenence wagon the next day and not start eating badly again therefore piling the weight back on. I seem to have succeeded as today has been a good day with lots of salad and under calories.

Cider 10lbs is excellent. Enjoy your holiday.

QuimReaper · 08/07/2018 10:17

Oh yes Panda that is absolutely a life skill! It's important to train yourself for it! As I was saying upthread to Mali ( - hope you're doing OK) it'll just be a question of having a few conscious, structured blowouts, thinking "right, this Tuesday I'm going out for dinner, and then on Wednesday I'm going to get back on the wagon" - keep saying it to yourself, be very aware of it, maybe even plan your post-blowout meals in advance. You just need to do it a few times to bed in a habit. Personally I'd see it as an opportunity to have some totally gratuitous mid-week meals out once you're close to goal - you can't train your will power without putting it into practice! Grin

Well, I've just weighed in and apparently I've only lost 200g since Friday morning Sad For some reason this Golden Stint doesn't seem to be sticking. I'm hoping it's a blip and I'm retaining water because of the heat or something. This is really the most golden I've ever been - I beat my PB on steps Mon-Friday, I'm already on 132K for the week, and my PB for an entire week is 135K. I should have been in a stunner of a calorie deficit every day, and I even had a virtuous Friday, when normally I see that as an opportunity to have a bit of a treat meal (i.e. scrambled eggs!) to reward myself. It's just not translating to the scales Confused I did treat myself to my scrambled eggs last night, biggest meal I've had this week so hoping it's just food weight. Maybe.

ponygirlcurtis · 08/07/2018 13:35

10lb in 6 weeks is tremendous, Cider, well done. Enjoy your holiday. 😊

Quim your whoosh will happen when you least expect it, when you have forgotten about your golden stint and have had a blowout - you will be scratching your head and asking how you managed to lose after eating so much! 😆 Although in all seriousness, I think sometimes a blowout can trigger a whoosh - Google 'carb refeed', seems to be a thing.

poorpaws · 08/07/2018 15:00

Still no diet for me but the bungalow is officially dry! I’m hoping to make some phone calls early tomorrow morning to get things moving now.

Some bastard has bashed into my car, of course they haven’t left a note! It’s really not my year.

ponygirlcurtis · 08/07/2018 15:47

That's great news about your house, poorpaws, you will be so glad to get home. What a shame about your car though. But focus on being home.

poorpaws · 08/07/2018 16:12

I’m not headed home yet, I still have no gas and no major electrics until they are tested.

Keeping chin up though that I’m at least a little nearer.

Connebert · 08/07/2018 16:23

Good evening. Might I hang around a bit in search of motivation for health reasons?

Connebert · 08/07/2018 16:24

And, if you don‘t mind me asking, what height are people who are around 58-60 kilos? Or who have that as their goal?

HappyGowerGirl · 08/07/2018 18:48

Weighed in at 61.6 this morning.

Connebert that’s my goal (59.0kg to be precise) and I am 1.72 meters (5”8 or there abouts I think). I’ve been lighter (56kg) post kids but I look and feel my best at 58-60kg. I absolutely don’t mind the way I look when I’m heavier than that but I just don’t feel as great - often feel unfit and unhealthy when I’m heavier as I’ve got very few muscles so I get a bit wobbly.

Poorpaws glad the bungelow is dry at last!

Connebert · 08/07/2018 19:15

Thanks very much, more or less the same here.

HappyGowerGirl · 09/07/2018 06:15

Still 9.9! Been STS since last Thursday😡😡😡

QuimReaper · 09/07/2018 09:36

poorpaws WHOOP WHOOP! A dry bunga! That means you should be able to switch the boiler back on soon, surely? Man alive though, it never rains but it pours - what rotten luck about your car on top of everything else. Is it bad?

You're right about the refeed and the whoosh, I've noticed it before actually - not so much that I've got on the scales after a refeed (too scared) but sometimes I've had a bit of a celebration, then got out of bed the next morning and looked noticeably more streamlined. I think it's to do with carbs, salt, booze etc. being very dehydrating? Apparently body builders do this disgusting-sounding thing called a "dry refeed", where they finally get to gorge on carbs after a period of fasting and hard workouts, but they have little to no liquid. Eugh. I believe it's what they do before a show, to dehydrate their bodies, so all the moisture is sucked out (i.e. they get a whoosh, of water retention at least) and their muscles "pop" more.

On the subject of weigh-ins though, I went wild and had another one this morning. I was so bitterly disappointed to have only lost 200g over two incredibly golden days that I decided to disregard it and try again (also because I got up to pee like THREE TIMES last night, which is apparently another "whoosh indicator", and, well, desperate times) ...And I'm down 600g from yesterday! So 800g since Friday morning. Not too shabby after all. As predicted, it means I'll probably just get back to goal by Friday rather than getting under it, which annoys me, but I had no realistic reason to expect otherwise. (Lots of unrealistic ones though, like "sometimes miracles happen" and "but I've been so good, I should get extra credit" and "but I threw away the rest of that amazing cheese" and "I still haven't had a single ice cream and it's a HEATWAVE"...)

Welcome Connebert! Health reasons are very welcome indeed. The height / weight thing is a slippery one - I think it's a lot to do with build. I'm a scrawny apple, so although I'm 167 (a smidge under 5'6) so on the taller rather than the shorter side of average, my weight goal is heaps lower than other people my height and even shorter. I think I just don't have as much bone mass, so my starting weight is lower. (Also I have no muscle... Blush ) It's one of the reasons you see people on MN soapboxing about BMI being "TOTAL AND UTTER BUNKUM AND SHOULD BE PUNISHABLE BY DEATH" - obviously I don't even slightly agree with that, but there's definitely a jolly wide range of weights within slim people of the same height. It baffles me when you have those "if you are 5'6, what do you weigh?" threads and you get people saying "I'm 65kg, I dropped to 60 once and I looked gaunt and people asked me if I was dying".

MissingPanda · 09/07/2018 14:44

I just had to google a weight conversion site to find out what 60/65kg is in st/lbs. I think I may be one of those people Quim. Someone once guessed my weight at around 12st when I was just under 15st. I'm 167/168cm depending on what Boots weighing machine decides when I weigh myself.

Connebert welcome. I'm aiming for around 10st 6lb which is between 65 and 70kg...possibly? Know it's not quite what you asked but Quim is right about height/weight being a slippery one.

Paws glad to hear the bungalow has dried out. Sorry to hear about the car.

CiderwithBuda · 09/07/2018 16:19

Hi from Greece everyone!

We are at a resort we have been to many times before and have completely lucked out. Have two of DS’s friends with us and booked a suite. It’s HUGE! On a corner with a wrap around balcony. Massive living area. Two huge bedrooms and bathrooms. And as it wasn’t ready when we got here yesterday we had a complementary lunch with beer and wine! Feeling very spoiled!

Eating gone to pot already though! Off for a walk in the morning. There is a 5k loop through a forest.

Connebert · 09/07/2018 17:45

Thanks very much! I understand more about height / weight now, makes sense. Using MFP, which seems to be a very good app.
