I'd love to lose 2 stone and change my username. I found 5 2 too hard to stick to and LCHF very effective but I get bored quickly and I love pasta. Courgetti just isn't really hitting the spot. Currently 11 stone 11lb, height 5ft7. Hope someone will join me to see if this will work. Smile

There is also the 14:10 which is highly recommended for women as it is kinder to our hormones.

Riversleep · 01/05/2018 22:45

Is 14:10 meant to work better? I'm finding it okbinbthe mornings but struggling with hunger in the evening. I don't think eating later is meant to be great for the metabolism either though.

River I read that it's meant to be more harmonious with women's hormones (16:8 being better tolerated by men) and prevents headaches and can be more easily incorporated into the day . Plenty of info online. Smile

I'd never heard of it, so thanks. I will go off and Google Grin

16/8 is probably the ideal but 14/10 is pretty good especially when you consider that some people never go more than a few hours without eating during waking hours.

If you have been brought up with the Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack approach it will be hard to stick to 16/8. Maybe start with 12/12 then move towards 14/10 before aiming for 16/8.

I don’t always manage it but in the main I try to not eat before 12 noon. If dinner is late and not over by 8pm I don’t worry too much. The next day I may try and go beyond 12 noon but if I am really hungry or if I am meeting a friend for brunch (seems to be all the rage) I just eat at 11. It’s still a decent gap between meals.

I am now working only eating 2 or 3 times in an 8 hour window. Say 12 noon, 4pm 8pm. Some days I find I constantly graze between noon and 8pm which I don’t think is ideal.

I'm experimenting on myself with pre and probiotics too. Apparently, naturally slim people tend to have certain good bacteria in their guts which overweight people are lacking. So I'm taking lactobacillus gasseri and konjac root glucomannan which you take with lots of water and it feeds the good bacteria. No idea if this is having any effect but worth a shot I thought. Well done always. That's brill. I've lost 2lb but to be honest I've had breaks at weekends so it's better than gaining it. Also I think my thyroxine needs increasing so that would help too. I'm going to look at 14/10.

alwaysonadiet1 · 03/05/2018 22:53

Well done Keel! If you lose a pound a week with weekends off, how fab is that?!

Well done Keel and Always.
I’m not weighing myself for a few weeks as I tend to lose weight slowly and get demoralised by how much I weigh initially. I’ve been following this diet for a week now and find the Fasting period easy. Reducing my carbs during the eating window is harder. My tummy looks flatter though and my shirt term incentive is a trip to Buckingham Palace for dds Duke of Edinburgh award later this month 😁. I’m trying to put a outfit together and it’s so much easier without an immense stomach.

teta · 04/05/2018 09:49

Short-term!!

ProseccoLush · 04/05/2018 11:40

Morning all. I started 16:8 at the beginning of the week and so far so good. After too long a period of being out of control of my eating patterns, I am starting to feel like I am regaining some of it.
I am currently following 12noon to 8pm. So almost time to eat. Yippee! Does anyone know if it is important what the first thing you eat is? Should it be carb or protein basss or doesn’t it really matter?

Keel · 04/05/2018 13:20

Thank you always and Teta. I'm trying to eat between 1000 and 1200 calories but it is hard when I crave crisps so much!

teta · 04/05/2018 13:23

I’m Apple shaped so probably have some degree of insulin resistance.Therfore when I’m dieting I try to reduce my white carbs like white rice/pasta etc. Cauliflower rice or courgetti pasta are good. I probably up my fat intake as well. Olive oil, goats cheese salad, coconut oil, lots of eggs. If I must have carbs then Quinoa mixed with. brown rice is good or stone ground pita bread or Japanese brown rice noodles in much smaller amounts than normal.
Some people lose weight on the slimming world type diet of low fat/lots of carbs - I don’t. I think whatever diet you find easier to stick to is the best thing.
