Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Ok, 1lb off this week. I'm pleased it wasn't a gain! I think I need to start recording decimals as I think I was actually 16.7 3/4 last week, and I'm 16.6 exactly today so actually almost 2lb. From now on I will put the fractions in as well (I usually can't be arsed and just go with headline figure).

I need to hit 16.4 (and 3/4, in the spirit of precision) next week to hit my interim target (3 stone lost) so let's hope for a good week!

Loss this week: 1lb
Total loss: 40lbs
Loss to go: 62lbs

Chesty what method are you following? Maybe you could change it up a bit to give your metabolism a kick up the arse? Glad ChestyDog is doing well.

AnotherOtter · 29/04/2018 11:04

Loss this week: 0.8lbs
Total loss: 88.2lbs
To go: 12.8lbs

Decent enough week for me. Had a day of maintenance where I cooked steak and chips. I completed week 2 of C25K and pretty pleased about that. Not convinced how I'll manage this next week though!

How are you feeling, Honey? I hope the PMS has passed. Good news about the dietitian for the wee one.

Welcome Scared. Just jump in! Some people like to have a detailed plan before they start to lose weight but you don't have to. You can learn as you go.

Well done on completing week 6, Breaking.

Nickname, sorry to hear your daughter has been so ill. How are you doing now that she is home?

Lego, whether or not you decide to go for the bariatric surgery, getting the binging under control is essential. It is fucking miserable and of course counterproductive. Binging after bariatric surgery and regaining the weight is not uncommon unfortunately. Hopefully your psychology appointment will be helpful. My binging improved a lot with the help of a psychologist though it was a great deal of work and I still relapse occasionally (three times this year so far, worsened by my menstrual cycle and dieting). Hope things improve for you soon.

Post, the waist to height ratio is looking like it is a decent measure of risk and one I am focusing on too. I think the scales are good for medium term feedback on how your diet is working but really it's all about waist measurement in the end. Which makes me wish I was a pear and not an apple! If wishes were fishes, we'd all cast nets. Great news about your daughter, she's done well.

Great to see you back, Notanurse. I'm another who is going to have to log food permanently to maintain. I have tried intuitive eating to maintain and it just didn't work for me. I think it will fully engrained as a habit by the time I eventually get to my goal weight.

Well done on your loss, Moonlight, but sorry to hear your news about your Mum. Not comfort eating is a big step forward.

Good news about ChestyDog, Chesty.

AnotherOtter · 29/04/2018 11:08

Crossposted with Honey. Well done on your loss especially since it was a tough week. Definitely get the decimal points in there! My scales measure to 0.2 of a pound and I damn well count it even though it's a pee.

ScaredPAD · 29/04/2018 11:50

Another and honey I'm so impressed with your weight loss. How have you done it? Have y ou been at it for a year or so.

Well done:)

I had a veggie curry (from a Chinese!?!?) And smacked on the prawn crackers so didn't go according to plan. But I portions out 2/3 which looked a decent portion and stuck to that. Didn't eat cake/lemonade but it was still a high calorie meal. I'm glad I didn't avoid it though which was the temptation.

I'm building in more nuts for snacks aside realised I like them!

I tried "intuitive eating." And truly want to believe in it and the method but I just seem to have put on more weight!

honeysucklejasmine · 29/04/2018 12:30

Scared I did join in 2017 but then I had a baby (now 7 months). My start weight is where I was back in August '16. I did SW for a bit at home losing 18lb ish, got pregnant and focussed on maintenance (just gained what baby weighed), and then started again calorie counting at the start of February. Since start of feb I've lost a further 22lbs.

Honestly I much prefer calorie counting. It's much easier these days with apps like My Fitness Pal. I tend to eat similar meals for breakfast and lunch, and now have about 80 "dinners" in my app so plenty to choose from, or easy enough to plug a new one in.

I can talk you through a typical day, but be aware that I don't eat dairy, eggs, beef or soya as baby is allergic. So you could make life easier on yourself by including those foods. I miss eggs.

Breakfast: bacon sandwich OR bacon, tomato and mushroom wrap OR baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and bacon OR pork meatloaf with baked beans ... You get the idea!

Lunch: homemade soup OR ham salad wrap etc WITH carrot sticks and houmous AND fruit/crisps/biscuit etc

Dinner: tonight we're having turkey tagine. Yesterday was chicken provincial with roast veg. This week we're having chicken burgers, fajitas, enchiladas, risotto, spaghetti and meatballs, Thai curry and Cajun chicken pasta.

Moonandstars84 · 29/04/2018 14:04

So my scores on the board
Sw 226
Current weight 204
Lost 1 pound this week
Total loss week 9 I think 22 pounds
Target 119
85 pounds to go
Been a crazy weekend with lots of parties etc and drank too much wine. Weigh in as done on Friday as away Saturday.
Reached a milestone and now back to my fitness pal starting weight in 2015. Really wish I had kept it up at that time instead of crash dieting and than regaining with extra.

Moonandstars84 · 29/04/2018 14:05

Will try and catch up on thread later.

nicknamehelp · 29/04/2018 14:58

Another didn't go to plan yesterday was ok till afternoon when just lost it and ate anything and everything. But I've been on it today. And am learning why I fail. I eat do much at night I'm not hungry in the morning so I don't eat then I get hungry then I have no will power and eat till I'm stuffed again and so the cycle goes.

Just watched The Truth About now into Britain's fat fight hoping to learn!

Looking forward to getting back into exercise next week.

Well done all on losses this week.

B1rdonawire · 29/04/2018 15:50

Well done on all the losses and good choices and perseverance Smile

AnotherOtter how was week 2 altogether? I have done the first run of W2, second one scheduled for tomorrow if my hayfever lets me actually breathe so far still enjoying it!

Weigh in tomorrow for me. It has been an imperfect, but not terrible, week so we'll see what happens.

ScaredPAD · 29/04/2018 17:22

I've just been put for an hours walk (well, 20 mins either way and feed ducks in the middle) with the small people just to get out and Do Something as was finding The House Of Doom overwhelming and I just wanted to hide. Exercise and outside is good even if it is baby steps...

honeysucklejasmine · 29/04/2018 18:21

Ok. We're rooting in the back of cupboards until the online shop arrives tomorrow. I ended up going 200 cals over target today, so need to be at least 33.3 cals under each day for rest of week. Which won't be too hard - lunch involved finishing of a bit of smoked mackerel which was 300 cals! 😱 I did enjoy it though so shall not be too sad. Just need to be sensible this week.

Scared small steps are the best ones!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 29/04/2018 18:44

Well done for getting out Scared

I've spent the afternoon trying to counteract the 'Sunday Fear' by trying to organise my life in an afternoon. Trying to fit in work, exercise, housework, time with DCs, online study, and a long over-due project is no mean feat! Still, I think everything is organised for the coming week at least - even down to allocating an hour to do an online shop Blush. Sometimes it takes a spell of micromanaging myself to actually get shit done!

Have been sensible today - but not nearly enough water. I drink loads at work, but far less at the weekends, which I need to rectify.

Here's to KOKOing this week! Brew

ScaredPAD · 29/04/2018 19:34

I don't eat much fish as I don't like the texture and I know I need to include it - I discovered I love smoked mackerel too!! It's high in calories but supposed to be really good for you isn't It?

honeysucklejasmine · 29/04/2018 21:07

I assume so - it's definitely an oily fish although quite high in salt too. It's delicious though. cookingonabootstrap.com/2014/01/31/smoked-mackerel-kedgeree-89p/ is quite a nice recipe to use it in too, if you want to incorporate it in to dinner.

Tractors good job on the organising! I need to go and make some soup for tomorrow's lunch, but I can't be arsed. Probably going to be tomato - literally chopped tomatoes, onion, garlic, herbs, stock. Blitzed.

honeysucklejasmine · 30/04/2018 08:55

Did that string test yesterday. Obviously failed but realised I've lost 5.5" off my waist since I started! NSV!

B1rdonawire · 30/04/2018 12:40

0.5lb off today, and staggered through W2 R2 of C25k.

Today's special joy is my tooth has just chipped. Clear evidence that finncrisp is dangerous...sigh.

nicknamehelp · 30/04/2018 17:13

Stayed the same this week but no surprise really.

Wish me luck for joining the gym tonight.

After reading all your posts im trying to pluck up the courage to also try c25k.

Well done all on the losses.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 30/04/2018 17:30

It’s such a gorgeous day here, wall to wall blue skies and sunshine! Shame I’ve been stuck in the office all day but going out for a walk before making dinner. I have a few mapped out on Map My Walk, between 3 and 5 km, but looking to add new routes and more hilly routes as I progress. All the routes have a hill involved, some just more hilly than others! Hope you’ve all had a good day Smile

nicknamehelp · 30/04/2018 18:19

Quick question. If you use m.f.p have you upgraded to premium and if yes is it worth it?

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 30/04/2018 19:20

So I’ve done a few days strictly keeping to my calories and only 3 meals, no snacking, in an effort to feel hungry and it’s worked. I have been absolutely starving between meals! It’s very strange!

Not something I can keep up and it makes me want to snack more and more, so I’m going back to 3 meals and a snack or two but it’s been a very interesting experience!

ChestyNut · 01/05/2018 06:52

NSV bought some holiday dresses in a smaller size Smile

Went for a fast waddle up and down a hill at lunchtime yesterday.

KOKO everyone Flowers

ScaredPAD · 01/05/2018 07:20

Well done chesty!!!
The walking sounds good no tractors! My legs hurt and I miss proper walking but I'm trying to build it up again . (Baby steps 10-15 mins school runs a few times a say!)

Ihope I love your approach. I like the idea of being curious about yourself and listening to your body. I'm trying to listen to my hunger/full cues but I've spent so long ignoring them it's taking a while. I'm realising I don't need half as much food as I though I did!

moonlight1705 · 01/05/2018 07:58

Lego I am trying to do something similar this week as well. Its amazing how we forget what really being hungry feels like.

I am kinda doing a 5:2 diet this week - today is my low calorie day so we will find out how miserable it makes me Smile

Well done everyone on your walking.

B1rdonawire · 01/05/2018 08:04

Nickname how did the gym go?

Yesterday evening Not Good for snacking. Stressful meeting at DC's school, still don't know what to do about it. So watched 3 episodes of Greys Anatomy instead Grin Still no idea this morning but at least the sun's shining. Have a lovely day everyone!

ScaredPAD · 01/05/2018 10:48

I was brave and weighed myself and I'm the same (18 13 :( )
10 days if extra walking and cut back on food and snacks..... and I assumed I'd have to adjust for "water weight" and I'm the same. I thought the first week would at least be encouraging. wail.
