So, winter has us in its icy grasp as March begins but by the end of the month we will be lighter, warmer and, erm, slenderer!

Not no I’ve not got lots to lose - I’ve always hovered around the 8 stone mark with very little effort. Broke up with ex DP last spring and put on a stone in a matter of weeks. Misery and loneliness made me think f&#! It and I’ve been eating all the food since then. It’s a miracle I’m not heavier! To be honest just getting down to 8 and a half would be great - my clothes would fit, and I’d feel happier. Quim I’ll look forward to my whoosh!!

lastqueenofscotland · 15/03/2018 21:40

Keep it must be a pretty tiny portion to be under 200 cals?

Yeah, a double portion of that pasta with twice the tuna would keep you full. That portion would just tease me and make me hangry.
Have you access to a microwave? I make a 2 egg omelette with cheese/ham/onion, cool and wrap up. Heats very nicely. I cook more for dinner and have a smaller portion for lunch. I have a good sandwich with plenty of protein in the form of egg/ham/chicken/bit of low fat mayo (I’m not a low fat loon, I just try save a few cals) reduced fat mature cheddar - not necessarily all those fillings at once of course! Glass of water before lunch, glass of water with it. Straight after lunch I have to distract myself - if I can go for a 20 minute walk or even 10 mins to the postbox I do.

Not2bObvious · 15/03/2018 22:32

Twice the tuna? I should say all! A tin of tuna has only around 120 cals and is a great protein source. A tin of tuna mixed with LF Mayo (and not that hideous extra light, light is palatable, the other is wallpaper paste but not as tasty) in a sandwich will fill you to the brim

slightlysoreboobs · 16/03/2018 05:48

STILL 8 st 12.8 this morning. Perhaps this is just karma for all the crap I ate persistently while I hovered around 9 stone for months. Maybe I need to eat well for months and then I’ll magically be back at 8 stone Grin

slightlysoreboobs · 16/03/2018 05:51

Just checked on mfp: calories have averaged at 1250-1350 per day for the last 3 weeks. And honestly, I’m not accidentally inhaling cakes and not recording them! I’ve even given up booze which is unprecedented. This is deeply mysterious

Not2bObvious · 16/03/2018 06:40

slight am I right in saying you’ve lost 1.2 in around 3 weeks? I was watching a Q&A last night in my group thing and they were saying lighter people, 130 & under may only lose max .5 a week, you’re hitting around .4 so it just might be the rate your body will manage (Sorry if I have your loss wrong)
Few other checks

  1. Are you weighing food by gram, recording every bite/lick/taste, milk in tea etc
  2. Are you getting enough water in
  3. Are you consistently getting some exercise, walking is fine

Honestly I don’t believe you need to eat so little. I think if you could get 10-15k steps a day you could lose on 1500-1600 and I doubt you’d lose any less, you’d get there in a safe and sustainable/liveable way. You’d see a slight gain initially but if you gave it 3 weeks I bet you’d be no worse off, better in fact. If you can only lose .3/.4 on average a week you’ve a ways to go before hitting 8 stone. This way you get to eat more, I’m a big fan of eating more.
So I’m down another .4 today and my average is nudging down nicely. Out to dinner tonight, can’t wait! No doubt I’ll see a scales hike in the morning but meh, I’m going out out😉 Happy Friday all

lastqueenofscotland · 16/03/2018 07:46

Now I've stopped weighing I've been really really golden for the last week... I feel less pressure so weirdly don't feel the need to sabotage anything.

Kikisdeliveries · 16/03/2018 08:15

My back was sore again last week after an epically golden few days, though clearly I got the balance wrong activity-wise. However, I did end up diving into food for a few days. Have come out the other side relatively unscathed as far as scales are concerned but junk food and Mother's Day bubbly has made me jigglier.

I have a busy weekend planned so as long as I stay in one piece and organise our eating in advance I reckon I have potential for being same weight after the weekend!

Feezles · 16/03/2018 08:29

Not a great yesterday. My treaty toastie was nice (Red Leicester, tomato salsa and hot sauce), but then in the evening DH decided to raid our Easter Eggs (bought us one each as an Easter treat and thought I'd hidden them well, but apparently not) and I couldn't resist some chocolate. But - I recorded it honestly, and including my exercise calories I was still under maintenance, so could have been much worse.

This morning the scales were kind, still 12st 9.2.

Enjoy your night our, Not!

QuimReaper · 16/03/2018 09:42

I've lost 300g this week. Whew. Nearly there! I was hoping for more, obviously, and was grumpy because the scales teased me by flashing 500g then 400g before settling on 300, but to be honest, just seeing a loss three weeks running is an achievement for me, so I'll take it.

Feezles your cheese toastie post made me happy Grin When I was responding to Ofthread earlier about her clinging to the wagon by her fingertips, I nearly said something about "drifting off when you're busy and ill but keeping the wagon in the background - y'know, almost like a normal person!" but then I thought it sounded like a personal insult Blush I've been managing my weight for so long I've almost forgotten what it's like to just grab a sandwich because I'm hungry or fancy it.

(I haven't forgotten at all actually. I still lament the golden years when I just ate whatever and whenever I liked and fit effortlessly into my size 6s Sad It does seem like a distant and unlikely dream though!)

koko you definitely need a bigger lunch! You remind me of me when I used to have this job which had me leaving the house too early for a proper breakfast, but I used to pick up lunch on the way in and, incandescent with good intentions, I'd buy something really light and virtuous. I remember one time at about 4.30pm eating two Twirl bars from the vending machine on the trot, and another time ordering a pizza from my phone when I was round the corner from home on the bus Blush A quarter of a tin of tuna is measley and eating the rest of the tin is far better than hitting the vending machine!

QuimReaper · 16/03/2018 09:43

Feezles meant to say, I'm always after presents for my BIL whom I find impossible to buy for - is the cheese toastie subscription good?

QuimReaper · 16/03/2018 09:46

slight I'd definitely agree with upping your steps. It's much more pleasant than cutting your calories, especially now the evenings are lighter - I positively relish plugging into a podcast and going out for my stroll. What's your schedule like? Could you manage a 20 minute spin of an evening? It's good for stress management etc. too. I find walking to work etc. is all well and good, but there's something immensely liberating about going out without carrying anything for one thing, and without having Somewhere to Be.

Feezles · 16/03/2018 12:25

Quim - yes, I'd recommend it. The combinations are a little bit unusual and based on a sample of 3, slightly hit and miss, but it really is good fun! The good ones really are excellent, and nothing I would have thought of myself.

This is the website: cheeseposties.com/

TVHubbyClaire · 16/03/2018 13:50

I'm with quim (not literally...) on the walking thing. I try to do a 40min walk at 6am most days. I always seem to have a weekend hangover into Monday so am trying to do Tuesday - Sunday with a later start at weekends. Really enjoying it and feel annoyed if I miss a day now.

Yesterday I walked in the morning then after work went to cardio tennis then went to badminton for 45 min. Weighed in this morning at 12st 4 which is my highest in a week...WTF...I'm blaming late stir fry dinner and two(large) glasses of wine which I thought were well earned...Hmm

Hopefully see an improvement during what shouldn't be an overly indulgent weekend

Feezles - love the sound of your toasties Smile

Not2bObvious · 16/03/2018 16:46

I have the legs jogged/walked off me today, nearly 15,000 steps, I reckon I’ll hit 20,000 today. I am so hungry, dinner booked for 7pm, I’ll have to have a small snack before I go out as I’ve eaten so little today. Combo of saving up for tonight & mental busy. Have to find something nice to wear out

Feezles · 17/03/2018 07:55

LOOK LOOK LOOK! New low, new low!

I was hoping I might see 12st 8 on the scales this week - and I still haven't. Because this morning, they said 12st 7.9!!!!

I am beyond excited - I did a little dance in the bathroom after I saw it. It's completely unexpected, in that yesterday was a totally normal day - no skipped or tiny meals, no massive exercise and I was bang on my calories. It's been really frustrating not seeing results so particularly lovely today. Now to hang on to it!

Hope your night out was good, Not, and you're not feeling to mo delicate today.

Not2bObvious · 17/03/2018 10:01

Boom!!! Oh that’s brilliant feezles, delighted for you. Just keep doing what you’re doing, now you’ve seen it once you know it’s in you😉 I’m not too delicate (kinda doing a drinkers triage, assessing how I feel on a limb by limb basis) Lovely meal out, couple of drinks in a pub, home before 11. Had to have a couple of drinks with the babysitter (my Dad!) so up a bit late but worth it. Really enjoyable evening & no obvious damage😬 I say that but I haven’t weighed myself yet!

Not2bObvious · 17/03/2018 10:07

Argggg!!!!! I’m dancing with you feezles, 11.1 - gobsmacked & blown away, 155lbs, so thrilled😬😬😬😬

slightlysoreboobs · 17/03/2018 10:20

Yay feezles!!! Happy dancing with you - I’m 0.2lb down on yesterday Grin

slightlysoreboobs · 17/03/2018 10:25

Thank you for all the kind advice and words of wisdom - I’m a single mum, three DCs, a desk job and no real support to go out in evenings (and no money to pay for babysitting) but I’ve taken on board the more steps idea. I work on the third floor of our building so if I started using the stairs instead of taking the lift that could help in the long term. Will have a think about other ways to introduce more activity. We like to go for a walk together after tea in the summer but at the moment when it’s cold and dark there’s no way they’d agree to that, much as I’d love an evening walk to stomp away the blues of the day!

Softpebbles · 17/03/2018 12:12

Well done on all the losses.

Just popping on to say new low here too. 10st 9. Trying to make sure I don't blow it this weekend!

Have a good one. X

Feezles · 17/03/2018 12:13

Woo hoo, Not - that's awesome!

Slightly - stairs is a great idea! That will rack up the steps and burn lots of calories if you do that a few times a day.

Also consider going for a quick walk at lunchtime - I often do this and it really helps. I am similarly office based and this is what I do to up my steps without even noticing. However, we're just about to move offices to a skyscraper and we'll be on either the 16th or the 26th floor so I don't think I'll be taking my own advice on the stairs thing!
