Just done day one of 30 day shred

I fucking hate it!

Anyone else shredding?

I'm going on a walking holiday in the summer - 15 miles a day for 10 days over some decent hills, so I really need to get fit(ter at least! And lose weight.). I'm now wondering why I ever thought it was a good idea, I'm much more suited to holidays that involve leisurely meals, gentle strolling and ice-cream!

Ive had the DVD for years but only ever done maximum 5 days at a time. I've never even got out of the first section.

I'm only working a couple of days this week and next week so I'm determined to do it at least 5 times a week for the next few weeks. Even though I fucking hate it! I really hope it will be getting a bit easier after a couple of weeks. Please someone tell me that I will notice a difference in my ability/stamina in that time?

I suffer a bit with shin splints/pain, it's one of the reasons I've stopped in the past. It's particularly the butt kicks, and to a lesser degree the jump rope exercises that I can feel triggering it; so I find myself holding back a bit on these. Maybe I'll just have to do more jumping jacks instead - they don't seem as bad. I don't want to get really sore because that will stop me getting the miles in with the walk training. I'm hoping losing weight will help.

Well I'm on day 12 and day 3 of level 2

Arghhhh level 2 kills but I'm not going to let it defeat me!
I can't even do don't some of the exercises for the whole time.

KikiMadeMeDoIt · 05/03/2018 08:15

neonrose Good luck with getting the wrists sorted. If you can build up your arm strength it will help - flex those forearms Grin

beela I think the gentle chat and encouragement can hide some quite tough workouts (actually, I know, she's given me loads of DOMS).

Really, really good luck on getting through the 30 days, keep going, it's only 30 days and it will go quickly. Maybe we could do some Jessicas after. Ooh, Jessica thread?

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 05/03/2018 08:40

Everyone's doing so well! I did Day 5 of level 1 yesterday, going to have a rest day today.

Based on the above I'm a bit scared of level 2!

beela · 05/03/2018 13:20

kiki yes! I'm up for a Jessica thread. There seem to be so many different videos that it would be good to get opinions from others. Plus I've just worked out how to get YouTube on the TV Grin

Just give me a couple of weeks Wink

beela Then we shall have a Jessica thread! Grin (I've just got to finish an essay, then I'll get one started. What day are you on? Are we nearly there yet?).

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 06/03/2018 09:39

Red halia welcome! I'm not overly changing my eating habits, although I should..

Rest day yesterday, day 6 will be done this evening.

beela · 06/03/2018 16:19

Excellent, looking forward to the jessica thread. I will probably move on to level 3 next week a day do that for a few days, so there's no rush!

I still can't do those blasted v raises.

If you want to lose weight then to make a real difference you have to alter your eating habits too. They say that weight loss is 20% exercise and 80% diet. But changing everything at once is hard, so addressing one thing at a time isn't a bad approach either.

Well done red!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/03/2018 18:00

Red I’ve been doing a low cal/low carb diet as well as running, and doing JM30DS on my ‘rest days’ --hah

Its definitely working although it is hard work, I’ve lost about 17lb but my body shape has changed dramatically. 6 inches off my stomach!

00alwaysbusymum · 06/03/2018 23:27

Day 14 done, I'm so exhausted my whole body aches !
Not really seeing weight loss but I'm hoping it's toning

00alwaysbusymum · 07/03/2018 07:40

My body, back , legs and arms ache so much This morning from shred. But today is day 15 so if I do level 2 again tonight I'm half way there Smile

Day 12 ✅

I've fallen a bit behind as I've had a manic couple of days at work. Will definitely do the next 3 days and hopefully Sunday.

Well done everyone on keeping going! Half way there 00alwaysbusymum - amazing!

Well done redhalia on getting started, don't stop! Once you get through the first few days it gets easier to keep going. I did 6 days in a row at first because I didn't dare have a break in fear I might stop all together, but I've just had 2 days off and then shredded today! It's like a whole new me, if I can do it you can too!

I can see some toning happening in my shoulders and belly, it's all still covered by a decent layer of fat at the minute but I'm sure there'll be a six pack under there once that's gone 🤣

I'm also looking forward to a Jessica thread and her gentler form of encouragement. I'm almost certain she doesn't tell you she 'wants you to feel like you're going to die'! My daughter laughed her head off when she heard that.

You’re all doing brilliantly, so many people in double figure days 😀

I’m going to have to get my own backside in gear and start getting some Jessicas done. I might start off with one of my favourites, although she has just sent me (and everyone else on the mailing list) an email about the newest one and it looks like fun.

KikiMadeMeDoIt · 09/03/2018 10:45

Well, I did it. When you're having a Shred Break, have a quick look at this www.mumsnet.com/Talk/exercise/3189196-No-ripping-tearing-or-shreding-its-Jessica-Smith

beela · 09/03/2018 12:33

Well done kiki, I've joined Smile

I've had a break from shredding for 3 days - went for a swim on Tuesday, rest day weds, and did a spin class yesterday (nearly threw up!). I did another say of level 2 today and nearly managed all of the V raises! So something must be working.

How's everyone else doing?

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 09/03/2018 12:50

I had an unexpected rest day yesterday, house stuff took longer than expected, which is annoying. So I've only managed 2 days so far this week. Tonight we're on!

Not seeing any difference though I'm only on day 8. Not overly looking for weight loss apart from my stomach which is a bloody mess.

wantawaistagain · 10/03/2018 12:17

Can I join as well? I got to Level 3 before Christmas but have yet to get into any exercise or diet regime this year and it's only 3 months until holidays.

beela · 11/03/2018 20:06

Right. Tomorrow is level 3 day.

From what I remember the jump from 2-3 isn't as bad as 1-2... But that may well be wishful thinking!

I'll report back in the morning.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/03/2018 20:09

Oooh beela, good luck! The thought of level 3 scares me, especially considering she says we should feel like we’re gonna die in level 2!!

I did my third L2 today (I only do every third day) and I found my planks much more sturdy feeling, and didn’t do the modifications as much. Jump rope still kills me though!

beela · 12/03/2018 09:29

Level 3 day 1 ✅

It wasn't too bad, but more planks than I remembered!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 12/03/2018 09:41

I've been ill so didn't do my last day of level 1 last night, and not sure I'll manage it today either. Dammit!

00alwaysbusymum · 12/03/2018 21:41

Smile just finished day 17 ! Still stupidly hard but feel I'm doing more of the exercise and better balance etc !
