Anyone up for a current thread? I've had a good search and couldn't find anything recent!

I've got the book/cd and am downloading the app too. I'll start tonight.

I've never done this kind of thing before but am very open to it working :)

Unless there's heavy snow round here tomorrow I'm going off line for a couple of weeks. Keep up the good work everyone see\post you later Grin

gigi556 · 24/02/2018 21:56

My book complete with CD and DVD arrived today! I'll try to read it in the coming week and make a start :)

GreyandGrumpy48 · 26/02/2018 18:15

I’ve been trying with the app but not really engaging totally do i’ve Bought a second hand book and i’m Going to try with that- I find things go in better in a written format.

Liz38 · 26/02/2018 18:42

I got the sample book on kindle a week or so ago and have been trying to follow the rules from that. Not loads to lose, 1/2 stone would be good, 1 would be amazing but it's the relationship with food I need to fix. Reading this it sounds as though I'm in the right place! I'll look out for the book and cd combo 2nd hand.

I've been trying to eat more slowly but I'm a shocker for gobbling. I am at least drinking more water and thinking more carefully about why I want to eat rather than just doing it.

Sounds as though some of you have had fantastic results with this, I'm so impressed!

gigi556 · 26/02/2018 22:32

I bought mine second hand on amazon through music magpie. It was about £4 including delivery. Just need to start reading it now!

DottyDotts · 27/02/2018 15:14

GreyandGrumpy I find the book explains everything you need to know and understand and then his hypnosis cds are the icing on the cake

DottyDotts · 27/02/2018 15:15

Gigi yep, you have to read it , understand and "do it" 😂

DottyDotts · 28/02/2018 10:06

Liz I think that's the point of Paul and mindful eating on the whole. To fix our relationship with food.🤗 To stop the on a diet off a diet mindset and get back in touch with instinctive eating Smile

gigi556 · 28/02/2018 13:30

I've started reading it and to be honest, I don't really have the diet on off mindset. I'm really an emotional eater. Although, I'm not sure why! I just love food. Want to eat all the time. Hard to resist the wonderful taste of wonderful food! And, I also am usually a member of the clean plate club!

DottyDotts · 28/02/2018 15:50

gigi I'm also an emotional eater but put me in a diet and I will end up bingeing at some point. So sometimes I find myself craving food when I'm not hungry , really craving it and it's so difficult isn't it. PM does a "havening" thing that he teaches you to diffuse eating for non hunger reasons. It's with one of his cds.

DottyDotts · 28/02/2018 15:53

gigi Have you got the book on Freedom from Emotional Eating book by Paul. If you look on Amazon you can choose the book of his that is most suited to your problems Smile I started with another book many years ago (not Paul) but started with Paul's books after

gigi556 · 28/02/2018 21:33

OK, I've now read through the whole book. To be honest, I didn't really do the visualizing exercises, but I figured I can go back to them when I'm ready to fully engage. I'm very interested in the craving busters!

I'm downloading the CD to my phone now, but I've now realised that there are 5 CDs in total... Are the CDs much different to the visualization exercises in the book? Are these all included in the app? Anyone have them? Do I need all of them?

Is anyone doing the 90 day journal in the book? I think this is what overwhelmed me a bit. Seemed like a lot to do even though it probably isn't.

How is everyone getting on with the program?

gigi556 · 02/03/2018 09:48

I've started! Love the CD. Very relaxing.

But... who knew eating slowly would be so hard?! Ive taken to not only putting my utensils down between bites but also taking a sip of water.

Another positive note, I think DP is interested in giving it a go too! He's terrible for inhaling his food so I think will be really beneficial :)

How's everyone getting on?

iamlosingweight · 02/03/2018 10:26

Hello Everyone. Newbie me.

gigi556, if you look at the diet groove, they talk about loving food like that. I'm a comfort eater and i can't live without chips so I do try to follow a pattern in my behaviour that just makes it easier to follow. and the slow chewing does really help. And there are lots more behaviours too that help me.

I sort of don't know if I actually want to 'fix' my relationship with food. If it was just a fuel - like if you could pop some sci fi nutrient thing and never be hungry I'm sure I would just miss the flavours and sensations of all the lovely stuff I love.

DottyDotts · 04/03/2018 12:10

Iamlosing fixing your relationship with food doesn't mean not enjoying it, it means enjoying it more in a sense. Learning to savour the taste, smell and texture. Without guilt or issue. It's stopping the diet mentality and relearning to eat when your hungry and then you enjoy it so much more. When your really hungry the flavours are intensified and each mouthful is delicious. After you gave had about five normal sized forkfuls you start to observe that the food doesn't taste as amazing as your first mouthful anymore and at some point you realise that your satisfied. I am a big foodie but eating food just because it was there was never as enjoyable as eating when really being hungry

gigi556 · 05/03/2018 01:37

So I'm 4 days in.... It's a little harder than I thought it'd be! I guess it's just creating a new habit of eating slowly and consciously. Until you try it, you don't realize how unconsciously you've been eating. I'm trying to put my utensils down between bites and have a sip of water. DP is really supportive and has suggested I try chopsticks to slow me down Grin

I find the consciously enjoy every sensation even harder than the slowly eating! AND I find it hard not to do something else if I'm alone like read Mumsnet and eat at the same time.

No idea if it's gonna work but I guess if I mange to cut my portion sizes it makes sense that it has to.... How are people that started earlier getting on? Those that have been doing it longer, how long before you thought it really sunk in?

Also, app users what is the content like? I'm using the book and cd but would be interested in more audio. I wanted to try the craving buster but found it difficult to follow by reading it. Would prefer an audio for the exercises.

MercianQueen · 05/03/2018 13:00

Well I got a bit distracted last week but finally listened to the download last night. Found it very relaxing and surprised myself by not being tempted to snigger once.

I do need to sort packed lunches out - I've really struggled to find anything to really savour in our works canteen! But soup has now been eaten mindfully, and I surprised myself how full I got. Half a bread roll remains discarded in the bowl.

Will do some more reading tonight and challenge myself to do some of the exercises.

DottyDotts · 06/03/2018 10:05

gigi his havening technique is on dvd in one of his books. He shows you how to tap out the cravings using your meridian points on your body

iamlosingweight · 06/03/2018 12:49

Thanks DottyD. It's all about enjoying food for me. Even if it is for comfort, or stress relief, or just the love of it.

gigi556 · 06/03/2018 13:00

@DottyDotts have you tried the tapping technique?

Anyone know which book it's in?

DottyDotts · 07/03/2018 10:40

gigi think it's with the cd in his emotional eating book. If you look on you tube under Paul McKenna havening technique it's there. He didn't invent it though Smile

ppeatfruit · 08/03/2018 09:53

Hello I'm back on line! I got the eating\chewing slowly thing when I ate an apple actually counting the chews! !t filled me up!

The other thing you can do is eat with your eyes closed, that's brilliant!

Dotty I do my morning exes\stretches using my meridian lines. They're good for helping your looks and health too,

DottyDotts · 08/03/2018 22:29

pp hello Smile Sounds interesting.

WhiskyandRed · 09/03/2018 06:24

Hello, can I join? On day 4 of I can make you thin and it’s made a massive difference to how i’m eating already. Last night I totted up the calories of what I ate yesterday (prob not supposed to do this) and it was under my recommended daily allowance so I ought to actually lose weight too!

Definitely think the eating slowly is key. I find it difficult, but this is what I’m really working at.

ppeatfruit · 09/03/2018 08:13

Yes it is Dotty Grin I bought a book called Internal Healing , it's been done in China for literally thousands of years . Solo on this thread bought one too, when we were on the last threads about PM.
