So after a really crap year where I had a severe depressive episode, I’ve ended up mentally much healthier but heavier due to my medication (mirtzapine). Oh, and my obscene addiction to sugar!! I’m finally in a place where I feel I can tackle my weight gain. Having braved the scales yesterday I weighed in at 10st 7lb - I was 9st in April, so quite a gain. I’m 5ft 3 and this gives me a BMI of 26 (so in the overweight category!)

Target weight is 8st 7lb so want to lose 2st. First mini goal is 10st by end of January.

I plan to follow a HFLC diet as this should help me tackle my sugar additiction once and for all. I have terrible problems with blood sugar and lots of people say this clears up on the diet. Am going to use India Knights idiot proof diet book after a recommendation here.

I can’t wait til next year so I have 4 more days to wallow in Christmas biscuits then Boxing Day will start my diet! We have a family meal out that day which could be interesting...I’m not planning to mention it in RL so will use this as a diary. Please feel free to post, join in, give support (flowers emojis rather than biscuits please or I may end up nibbling on my iPad) etc.

Well done Hattie on the presentation and the size 10Grin

Pavonia · 12/02/2018 07:17

Weigh-in day today. I've officially stayed the same this week. Annoying as I do weigh every day and I was a pound down but I've mysteriously gained a pound overnight! I'm wondering if it's due to the halloumi I ate yesterday evening. Ah well, it should work out in the long run.

I've stuck to plan apart from a glass of wine on Friday and a slice of cake at book club on Saturday. I've done over 10,000 steps on 4 of the last 5 days too.

PinkHeart5914 · 12/02/2018 11:13

Well done on the size 10 Hattie How lovely.
Well done on staying the same Pavonia it’s better than gaining.

We had a naming ceremony for the new baby the weekend and I ate everything from the hog roast to cake, sweets plus plenty of fizz was around. It was fun though! I wore the same dress I wore at my other dc naming ceremony and I don’t think I looked bad, my friend said you’d never know I had a baby 8 weeks ago.

Will be good again, mil has come over today so I’ve already done 10 miles on the exercise bike and we are going to take the dc out for a walk in a while so that’s a bit more exercise.

Special k with full fat milk
Lunch is going to be a ham & salad sandwich, bag of popcorn
Dinner tonight will be a red Thai curry with loads of veg

Pavonia · 12/02/2018 22:48

Thanks Pink, sounds like you are doing fantastically well. My period started unexpectedly today (only two and half weeks since the last one Confused) so I think that is the explanation for the overnight gain.

I succumbed to cake when I was out today, I'm blaming my hormones and I hope I will feel better tomorrow.

FiveShelties · 13/02/2018 01:34

Pink you are doing really well, you must be so pleased.
Pavonia hope you are feeling better and well done on staying the same.

I have lost another pound and am 10st 5.4lbs now. Slightly less than three weeks to go and would love to lose another 3.4pounds before than. It is do easy to write it down but proving a little more difficult to do.

Pavonia · 18/02/2018 14:28

I'm having to deal with a health issue at the moment so I'm going to focus on healthy eating and stop worrying about the scales for a bit.

I plan on sticking with the no puddings etc. but I will probably be eating a bit more than I have been.

I hope everyone else is doing OK.

FiveShelties · 20/02/2018 20:58

Pavonia sorry to hear you are not well. Sounds like a good idea to concentrate on healthy eating - take care.

I am 10st 4.2 pounds now so have lot half a stone, very slowly!

SageYourResoluteOracle · 03/03/2018 07:27

Hello everyone. I'm sorry I've not been posting- been in a bit of a funk. I sometimes get like this at this time of year and have had no energy, have wanted to eat everything in sight and haven't been sleeping well either: woke up at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep so got up, cleaned, deep cleaned the washing machine, joined weight watchers online for 6 months (I need something different), did a huge Ocado order, booked train tickets for Easter, folded laundry and did a couple of hours of work. I'm off to bed for a bit now and DH will take DD to her swimming lesson.

This winter- especially now with the snow- has felt endless and I've been exhausted since the start of February. I haven't even been running. I'm now taking multivitamins, liquid feroglobin (bluerghh) and vitamin d but the sleeping thing is a nightmare! I can get to sleep but I've been waking up. Arghh!

Anyway. Scales have gone in the wrong direction by about 5lbs and now I'm doing something about this before it's too late.

Hope everyone else is well. Lots if you have been going great guns with weight loss and I'm hoping to join you- I now have 1 stone & 3lbs to lose. Sigh. Confused

HattietheManatee · 23/03/2018 16:55

Hello all and sorry for the radio silence. My busy month went on longer than expected, and I think I got a bit complacent. I wasn't eating carbs but didn't drink enough water, take my supps, or think about food properly. I also started having wayyy too much dark chocolate more than occasionally. I don't even enjoy the way I feel afterwards, so am confused as to why I'm doing it to myself!!

As a result my weight loss has stalled, currently 9 st 4 and a bit.

Today I've just nibbled on a banana chocolate flapjack, and I'm looking at my still bloated wobbly stomach thinking why?? I haven't got to the size or shape I want to be but finding it hard to keep up momentum. It's good I haven't gained but I need to get back on track.

So from today I promise I will:

  • drink at least 2 l water
  • take my supps
  • stop having dark chocolate.
  • not eat any more flapjacks!

I need to start exercising but as we're about to swap houses for holiday, every spare minute is currently spent cleaning, decorating or frantically tidying! This will start when we get back.

How's everyone else doing?

@SageYourResoluteOracle so sorry to hear you've been having a tough winter. I really struggle usually too, I think being dosed up on my antidepressants have probably been the main reason I've not succumbed this year! I've found b vitamins really help with my mood. Hope weight watchers is helping and that you are starting to lose again. Please keep posting!

@Pavonia sorry to hear you've been having health issues, hope you're getting some decent support from family and health professionals. X

@PinkHeart5914 hope all good with you, I still looked pregnant at 8 weeks (and er, 4 months!) so well done!

Hello Hattie Its good to see you. Well done on resisting the dark chocolate. With your supps, what if you put them on a bedside table or near your hairdryer or something you use every morning? It’s the only way I remember to take my vitamins is if they are next to the alarm clock.

I was doing well but since dh paternity leave ended and his back at work, I’ve got all 3 dc and they are all under 3. My love of cake and chocolate has returned and I’ve eaten it all! I am disappointed in myself as I’ve no excuse really as we’ve always got good healthy food in, Dh does more than his share of cooking/household stuff and mil only lives 5 minutes away and always want to help out so I’ve plenty of time to exercise I just haven’t been and I've no excuse for not eating right.

However today is a new Monday and I am back to properly, no more excuses!
I will
Not stuff myself with chocolate or cake
Do at least 10-20km on the exercise bike each day
Drink 2 litres of water

Today:
Special k with full fat milk & blueberries. 3 coffee ( no sugar, I don’t even miss it in my coffee at all now)

Lunch is going to be a veg sticks with hummus & a fruit salad.

Dinner tonight will be mushroom and courgette risotto.
Mini ice lolly in the evening

PinkHeart5914 · 27/03/2018 13:03

Today
Marmite toast, coffee
Chicken salad. Slice of banana bread
Dinner is going to be salmon, new potatoes and veg
Mini ice lolly in the evening

I’ve done 10km on the exercise bike already and may do some more later once Dh is home

DownstairsMixUp · 27/03/2018 13:51

Hello everybody!!

I'm still on the wagon, will catch up on posts later

I've only had one week break and now down to 10stone 6lbs!

HattietheManatee · 03/06/2018 18:44

An update! I've fallen off the bandwagon a few times, particularly when away but got straight back on it and am pleased to say I'm now 8st 11oz - just a few pounds off my goal weight! It's definitely the lowest weight I've been in over a decade.

I do look skinny flabby though so just started The Shred and want to exercise every day.

How is everyone else doing? And what exercise recommendations can you make? I seem to enjoy exercise DVDs and Yoga with Adrienne but might need some short workouts to fit in with my working week.

Plan for this week:
Mon - 10 min toning before work (not home til 1030)
Tues - Cycle home (8 miles)
Weds - shred
Thurs - a few miles walk
Fri - Yoga
Sat - shred
Sun - This mum runs
