So after a really crap year where I had a severe depressive episode, I’ve ended up mentally much healthier but heavier due to my medication (mirtzapine). Oh, and my obscene addiction to sugar!! I’m finally in a place where I feel I can tackle my weight gain. Having braved the scales yesterday I weighed in at 10st 7lb - I was 9st in April, so quite a gain. I’m 5ft 3 and this gives me a BMI of 26 (so in the overweight category!)

Target weight is 8st 7lb so want to lose 2st. First mini goal is 10st by end of January.

I plan to follow a HFLC diet as this should help me tackle my sugar additiction once and for all. I have terrible problems with blood sugar and lots of people say this clears up on the diet. Am going to use India Knights idiot proof diet book after a recommendation here.

I can’t wait til next year so I have 4 more days to wallow in Christmas biscuits then Boxing Day will start my diet! We have a family meal out that day which could be interesting...I’m not planning to mention it in RL so will use this as a diary. Please feel free to post, join in, give support (flowers emojis rather than biscuits please or I may end up nibbling on my iPad) etc.

crashes back into diary

Sorry for absence, crazy week turned into busy weekend with overnight guests. Good news is the end is in sight as deliver project at the end of next week!

Also bit embarrassed to say I had alcohol four nights last week. Epic fail. I have stuck to diet though, apart from three squares of dark chocolate over the last three days.

Pleased to say I weighed in at 9 stone 8 lb and 3/8. That’s 1lb and 6/8 lost this week.

Today I ran after work- about 3K, and my Fitbit is reading 21k steps.
Not drunk enough water or taken supplements though.

B: nuts, cheddar cheese, decaf coffee with cream
S: decaf soya latte
L: 3 boiled eggs and asparagus with shavings of Parmesan
S: slurp of cream, peppered salami, olives, one square dark chocolate
D: celeriac slaw with Black Forest ham and rocket, adapted from Jamie’s 5 ingredients

Need to up my veg, water and take my supplements but otherwise a pretty good day!

Promise to catch up properly tomorrow. Night all and thanks for checking in.

I haven't lost anything in the last week. My partner was away 4 nights and so with 2 kids sleep was scarce and I have been binging on sugar. On the positive side I am wearing new jeans that I bought ages ago but didn't take the tags off as they were a little bit too tight. Then I got pregnant. Well that baby is 7 months old now and the jeans are perfectly comfortable. Need to get back on the weightloss wagon!

HattietheManatee · 01/02/2018 22:20

@Applesandpears23 at least you didn't gain! Solo parenting is really hard and when I'm tired I crave sugar too. Hope you're having an easier week this week.

Had an epic sleep this morning to make up for crazy week or two.

Today's food:
B: none - slept in
L: bacon, mushrooms, egg, decaf coffee with cream
S: stuffed chillis, nuts
D: bacon, greens and cheese

Turned down free pizza too, am getting a bit bored food wise though so need to plan some exciting meals to look forward to.

How's everyone else doing?

HattietheManatee · 02/02/2018 16:54

Finally have had time to sit down and catch up with everyone's posts. So looking forward to things calming down a bit with work.

@PinkHeart5914 you're doing really well, with both the diet and all the exercise - best of luck when DH goes back to work next week. Hope the MIL is lined up to give you some rest/time for exercise!

@SageYourResoluteOracle those Nakd bars sound lush! Am starting to tire a little of the LCHF diet, but am making such progress just need to keep on with it. And pick some new recipes to try! Good luck with weigh in tonight and hope running/dance club went well!

@Pavonia - well done, another week of weight loss! Mine also stalled around my TotM, but I had a small woosh the following week so hope you will do too. Good luck with reintroducing the treats - I'm a little all or nothing so not the best person to advise!

@DownstairsMixUp - not heard of that DVD but will google it now as it sounds like a good work out! And 2lb is a solid loss, well done.

Welcome @AnotherPlaceAnotherTime and a huge congratulations on your 8lb loss - very impressive!

@FiveShelties yes, maintaining is often a win too! I've had a few weeks I thought I deserved to gain and was chuffed not to see the scales move up!

B: Fried egg, bacon, mushrooms (bit tired of that now!), decaf coffee with cream
L: avocado, ham, cottage cheese, pickled cucumber, goats cheese and a decaf coffee with cream
D: Off to dinner at new friend's house - I can have the starter and most of the main (chicken soup followed by roast chicken and veg). I'll also be having a couple of glasses of prosecco Wine

Have upped my water a bit today and remembered supplements so that's an improvement!

I ran on Monday but really need to do some toning exercises this weekend. Please please help me find the motivation!

Well done pav I never lose on my period (another reason I keep the weigh ins fortnightly) I know it's only water weight but it does put you down!

Well done to you to hattie I look just about ok at the weight youare now, right now I look like a whale!

apples maintaining is better than a gain !!

My next weigh in is Tuesday so not sure what I weigh...

Today I barely ate anything apart from a bagel as I was sick all day but today has been nothing substaintial either as I exercised in the morning then my energy just went down!

Breakfast: few teaspoons of onken lemon yoghurt

Lunch: protein bite, wholemeal bagel with philly and two squares of dark choc

Dinner: wholemeal toast with beans and some cheese

PinkHeart5914 · 03/02/2018 17:26

Hope your all getting on ok Smile

Today;
Special k with full fat milk
Chicken salad sandwich & a banana
3 wafers
Dinner is going to be beef and pak choi meatballs in a tomato sauce with garlic bread
Smoothie lolly as sweet treat for the evening

I have done 10 Miles on the exercise bike 😇 and this evening I am going to go for a run, will be my first since I had baby number 3 that was nearly 7 weeks ago.

DownstairsMixUp · 03/02/2018 18:59

Food wise not so bad today but booze not good...

Breakfast was a wholemeal bagel and philly

Lunch was a falafel and houmous wrap with chips

Drink I've had one pint of cider and lots of gin Blush

Pavonia · 03/02/2018 22:12

I had wine and pudding yesterday, I figured I was due a break after being good for the whole of January. I'm back on plan now. My weight was at a new low this morning but I think I was dehydrated. I'm dreading getting on the scales tomorrow.

PinkHeart5914 · 04/02/2018 16:43

Sometimes Pavonia you do just have to have what you fancy. I’ve always found the odd desert or whatever doesn’t do much damage in the grand scheme of things.

Today;
Special k with full fat milk
Veg soup, slice of bread
3 wafers
Dinner will be a small slice of pie, carrot & suede mash, lots of broccoli
Smoothie ice lolly

I have done 10 miles on the exercise bike and I went for a run this morning. DH goes back to work tomorrow after his 7 week paternity leave so not sure how much exercise I’ll get in the week

Pavonia · 04/02/2018 17:36

Pink you are right, the occasional treat is necessary so long as it doesn't develop into a too frequent habit. I tend to eat too much cheese (I'm veggie) so I'm thinking of introducing cheese free days! I've been strict yesterday and today to try to make up for Friday and I'm now starving!

I hope you have a good week. You have been doing brilliantly with the exercise.

Pavonia · 05/02/2018 06:46

Weigh-in day (week 5):

Current weight: 10 stone 0 lb
Lost this week: 2 lb
Lost to date: 8 lb
Still to lose: 21 lb

I'm pleased that I'm still making progress. I shall be sticking to my three meals, no pudding/snacks/alcohol this week. I'm looking forward to being under ten stone for the first time in ages.

FiveShelties · 06/02/2018 21:59

Have had guests staying and eaten and drunk far too much recently. Back on it now and have lost 0.8 pounds since last weigh in and I am now 10st 6.4lbs. I have less than 4 weeks to go so cannot see me getting down to 9.12. I have decided to aim for 10st 2lbs now, so that I do not get demoralised and throw caution to the wind! Hopefully I will not find myself raising that target over the next couple of weeks!

Have been doing over 10,000 steps everyday and am going to up that to over 12,000 now.

Pavonia · 06/02/2018 23:10

Five well done on the steps, I've barely left the house because I hate the cold.

FiveShelties · 07/02/2018 01:00

It does look really cold in the UK Pavonia, do you have snow? It has been around 28-30C here for the last few weeks so we are walking in the evening mostly, and occasionally in the morning if we are up early.

Pavonia · 07/02/2018 07:20

Five Now I'm jealous, I love summer. No snow here, I'm just being a wimp really. I work from home most of the time which makes it too easy not to go out.

gruntley123 · 07/02/2018 08:32

Hello, I'm building up to join the next round of low carb boot camp, can I join y'as an additional support.

For those following a LCHF diet, would anybody be interested in sharing favourite recipes?

I am finding Butter Chicken with Cauliflower Rice very tasty. And I have taken to steaming a head of cauliflower, breaking it up and mixing with some cream cheese/grated hard cheese/cream/salt & pepper then bunging it in the oven until it browns. Leftovers reheated in the frying pan.

Pavonia · 07/02/2018 09:06

Hi Gruntley welcome. How much do you want to lose?

I'm not low carbing as I think it would be too big a change for me and I wouldn't be able to stick to it.

gruntley123 · 07/02/2018 11:18

Hi Pavonia!

I'm probably looking at 25-30kg in total. In honesty I daren't think too deeply about it, I need to get into a stronger headspace first.

So my plan is to tackle 5kg at a time as that neither sounds, nor feels, too scary.

Pavonia · 07/02/2018 11:25

Gruntley setting smaller, more short term goals sounds like an excellent strategy. Good luck!

PinkHeart5914 · 07/02/2018 13:26

Well done on your lose Pavonia
Good for you with all your steps Five
Welcome Gruntley and good luck with the low carb, i like the idea of low carb but I’m never strong enough to avoid carbs to do it.

Well I lost nothing last week, not even half a pound! I expected it though as I did have a couple of naughty days, I was sooooo tired and “needed” sugar. I am back to being good now though so hopefully will get a lose next week 🤞

Today:
Special k with full fat milk. 3 cups of coffee ( no sugar)
Chicken wholemeal roll & a banana
Dinner tonight willl be chicken breast, mash, kale, carrots and broccoli
Mini ice lolly for the evening

I haven’t been able to exercise the last 2 days as dh has gone back to work and I’ve got 3 under 3, but I got 10 miles on the exercise bike today as mil came to help out for a few hours. Mil will come and help 2-3 days a week so I will be able to exercise then and when dh is home at the weekends.

Pavonia · 07/02/2018 14:12

Pink I would imagine you get a fair bit of exercise running around after the three of them anyway! No way could I have done what you are doing. I had a three year gap between my two because I needed that and then I definitely didn't want more, much as I love them.Take care of yourself.

HattietheManatee · 07/02/2018 21:29

Quick dash on to say lost another lb, weighed in at 9st 7lb and a quarter.
I’m going to call that the one stone mark - yay!!
Tomorrow is my insane launch project day, have media interviews lined up with press from all round the world. It’s a bit daunting but am going to try to enjoy it. Can’t wait for gin o’clock on Friday!!

Will pop back in on the weekend, then try to get back to daily posting and catching up with all your progress. Thanks for continuing to post, it’s definitely made me feel accountable and stopped me cheating!

FiveShelties · 07/02/2018 21:35

Well done Hattie - what an achievement. Enjoy your day.

Welcome Gruntley - I think you are right, much better to aim for 5kgs and celebrate success. I am like Pink, love my carbs and could not think of going low carb, but I know lots of people have been really successful with going LC.

PinkHeart5914 · 07/02/2018 21:38

Well done on your lose Hattie and I hope your project all goes ok tomorrow

HattietheManatee · 10/02/2018 16:50

I’m back, it all went exceptionally well, better than I imagined. It also felt AMAZING to wear some fitted dresses for the media interviews and feel good about my figure instead of self conscious. One was a size 10 I had bought only three weeks ago and was too tight then - but fitted perfectly now. PRICELESS!

Exhausted and hungover today - I did have way too many gin and slims last night and also a cocktail - a sour which tasted way way too sweet for me. It’s the first bit of sugar I’ve had since Christmas so my tastebuds have definitely changed. Didn’t get home til 330 so little to do today but try not to get too stressed by kids and look forward to bed.
