So after a really crap year where I had a severe depressive episode, I’ve ended up mentally much healthier but heavier due to my medication (mirtzapine). Oh, and my obscene addiction to sugar!! I’m finally in a place where I feel I can tackle my weight gain. Having braved the scales yesterday I weighed in at 10st 7lb - I was 9st in April, so quite a gain. I’m 5ft 3 and this gives me a BMI of 26 (so in the overweight category!)

Target weight is 8st 7lb so want to lose 2st. First mini goal is 10st by end of January.

I plan to follow a HFLC diet as this should help me tackle my sugar additiction once and for all. I have terrible problems with blood sugar and lots of people say this clears up on the diet. Am going to use India Knights idiot proof diet book after a recommendation here.

I can’t wait til next year so I have 4 more days to wallow in Christmas biscuits then Boxing Day will start my diet! We have a family meal out that day which could be interesting...I’m not planning to mention it in RL so will use this as a diary. Please feel free to post, join in, give support (flowers emojis rather than biscuits please or I may end up nibbling on my iPad) etc.

Hope everyone has had a good daySmile
Two good days Smilehave stuck to SW, finding it easier if I meal plan everything the night before.

Pinkheart, you are doing really well if you only very recently had a baby, congratulations by the way, I had to eat for England breastfeeding and don’t lose any weight until I stopped!

Feeling hungry tonight so early night to sleep off my hunger pains.

Night all x

Ok dokes Friday will be my weigh day, however I did last weigh myself on New Years Eve. I've lost one whole pound which is better than a poke in the eye! One more pound takes me out of the 'over weight' category.

I'm focussed and want to be well into the 'normal' bmi scale or maybe just where I feel the most comfortable.

Well done to everyone Star

Applesandpears23 · 05/01/2018 13:25

I have both kids at home today which actually helps because my 3 year old watches me like a hawk and wants whatever I eat and I don't want her eating crap. I also read an article on the bbc that said that any fizzy drinks even fizzy water make you feel hungrier and eat more so I am trying to stay away from the diet coke.

PinkHeart5914 · 05/01/2018 16:11

Today I’ve had
Special k with full fat milk
Cream of chicken soup, bread roll. 2 cubes of brownie ( they were small)
We have friends over for dinner so it’s going to be pork medallions in a cream, peppercorn and brandy sauce (I will go easy on the sauce) with potatoes and veg.
I am also going to enjoy a glass of wine or 2 tonight but not go crazy so hopefully it won’t effect my weight loss.

Hope everyone is ok 😃

SageYourResoluteOracle · 05/01/2018 22:17

@HattietheManatee don't go getting all fainty on us: EAT THE BUTTER!! Grin

Today I weighed in and have lost 1lb 6 ozs. It's a solid start.

I ate:
Porridge with honey, flaxseed and frozen berries

4 gluten free Crackers, 40g Brie, cranberry sauce, apple and grapes; fat free natural yoghurt with homemade plum jam

Bangers, a tiny spoonful of mash, Brussels sprouts and gravy

Options hot chocolate, a homemade protein bar (169 cals) and some pop chips; 4 Terry's All Gold abs a handful of baby plum tomatoes.

And I did 40 minutes of brisk walking

Tomorrow, park run! And I'll run like the wind after over-eating Brussel sprouts!! Blush

SageYourResoluteOracle · 06/01/2018 19:13

How's everyone done today? I'm laid up with a 24 hour bug which has meant a very low cal intake today- mostly full fat coke and ginger nuts as I've been unable to stomach anything else. Silver cloud and all that! Confused

PinkHeart5914 · 06/01/2018 22:35

Hope you feel better soon Sage

Today I’ve had
Few cups of Coffee ( milk, no sugar)
Chicken and gerhkin sandwich. Ready salted crisps. Banana
3 wafers
Chilli with broccoli rice
Fruit ice lolly

Bonkersblond · 06/01/2018 22:38

Sorry to hear you’re poorly Sage, get well soon, some nasty bugs around.

Had a good start to SW, but Friday night was friends birthday so had a homemade chicken curry, made with low fat coconut milk, today took the DC ice skating and to Zizzi’s where I had a skinny pizza, haven’t snacked in between and stuck pretty much to SW plan otherwise, 3 days before I get weighed so need to really good. Doing between 10,000 and 20,000 steps everyday and back at yoga. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Pavonia · 07/01/2018 11:25

I have stuck to the plan since Monday but I'm on my own this weekend and have been very tempted to drink wine and eat cake!

I have bought some new digital kitchen scales to be able to weigh my food as I probably have a tendency to fool myself into thinking my portions are smaller than they are.

Hope your all doing ok with your diets

Today I’ve had
Special k
Fish finger sandwich & banana
3 wafers
Dinner will be chicken & chickpea curry with a small portion of rice

HattietheManatee · 07/01/2018 19:36

Get well soon Sage - you’re right, the only upside is the potential of unintentional weight loss.

Good idea on the scales Pavonia I have no idea what my portion sizes are! I was shocked when I started weighing my porridge oats but soon got used to the smaller amount and realised it was enough. Back in the days when I ate porridge, of course!

Bonkersblond well done on keeping to diet, yoga and daily walks. Fingers crossed it’ll all show on the scales. If not, you have my permission to shout at them Grin.

Applesandpears23 hope the no Diet Coke thing going well, nothing like a toddler demanding your food and drink to keep you on track!

Apologies for quiet spell - was manic getting ready for overnight guests who then cancelled with two hours notice Hmm.

I did bake a cake with the kids and did not lick the bowl or eat any! I did have a massive bowl with whipped cream, one drop of nicks stevia vanilla and nuts as a treat but to be honest it was too much.

I have stuck to plan, let me try and remind myself

Sunday
B leftover Brussels with bacon and pigs in blankets
S: decaf coffee with single cream
L: ham, cheese and mushroom omelette, with side of cucumber and the last stuffed pepperdew. Was lush
S: handful of smoked nuts
D: cheese and meat board with stuffed chillis and some salad I bloody hope

Saturday
B: pigs in blankets, fried mushrooms and toms
S: decaf coffee with cream
L: plate with turkey meat, veg and stuff, OH put it together, I did take off the hummus so remember it was low carb
S: decaf coffee with cream x 2
D: roast chicken with pigs in blankets, Brussels with sprouts and something else I’ve forgotten. Bowl of whipped cream with one drop of Steve’s vanilla stevia drops and chopped nuts.

Friday
B: smoked nuts, later two boiled eggs, decaf coffee with cream
L: chipolatas and tomatoes with mayo
S: two last chipolatas, slice of ham
D: totally forgotten!

Monday morning here and I weighed in at 10st 9.4 pounds. So have lost 2.2 pounds - not spectacular for the first week, but will do nicely. Have 11.4 pounds to go in 8 weeks.

Hope everyone is well and keeping warm in the UK - looks a little chilly there.

Pavonia · 08/01/2018 06:23

Weighed this morning and I've lost two pounds this week. I have been very strict this week by my standards. I must admit I've been quite hungry.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 08/01/2018 09:16

Hey everyone! You're all doing brilliantly. Anything around the 2lb mark is perfect in a week- any more than that is unlikely to be sustainable and will mess up metabolisms long-term.

Day 3 (or is it 4?) of tummy bug here for DD and I: we've quarantined ourselves in my bed and DH slept in DD's kingsize bed last night amongst an array of cuddly toys and beneath the butterfly-adorned walls! Grin This morning, he woke me up by accident at 5:30 by staring at me in the darkness as he was worried about me, bless him. I am so off food- had a fair amount of carbs yesterday as that's recommended. Have managed some mango this morning. CRAVING ice lollies but I only have the gin and tonic ones (only 55 cals each) which are probably not the best thing right now. Urgh! Imagine being on a weight loss thread and I'm struggling to eat ENOUGH ... ah well. Hopefully next Fridays weigh in will be positive.

And I don't even want yoghurt: yoghurt is my favourite thing ever!

HattietheManatee · 08/01/2018 19:15

Well done five! A loss is a loss is a loss - well done! And it is very nippy in the U.K. at the moment.

Also well done to Pavonia - hope the hunger pangs go, or you find something that keeps you full. A boiled egg always works for me.

Sage that sounds horrendous, hope it is passing. Although I would be tempted by the gin and tonic ice lollies, surely the quinine is medicinal!

I weighed in this morning, a day earlier but am starting LC boot camp today so wanted an accurate weight. And to my surprise the scales read 9 13 that’s another 3lb in 6 days and an overall 8 lb loss in 13 days Shock. Couldn’t be happier, especially as not hungry and no noticeable adverse effects. Am definitely losing inches too as there’s room in a dress that I was squeezing into before Xmas.

Today’s food:
B: decaf coffee with cream, two boiled eggs with cucumber
L: fake shepherds pie and spinach
S: piece of cheese and decaf coffee with cream
D: smoked salmon frittata from Jamie’s 5 ingredients with salad. I hope.
14k steps

So excited to discover I’m now in a healthy BMI too - 24.6! What a difference a fortnight makes!

mrssunshinexxx · 08/01/2018 19:36

Hi everyone please can I join ? Your all doing great
I put on 4lb over Xmas / new year and have got 3 of them back off so far before I put that 4lb on I was 4lb off my target so 5lb to lose it may not sound a lot but it's bloody difficult! I'm a keen runner so that helps but I really am noticing the fact of it being 80% diet and 20% exercise ! Constantly wanting food but not even hungry just habit?!

Pavonia · 08/01/2018 19:57

Well done Hattie! It's great that you are under 10 stone well before your end of January goal.

I've failed miserably on steps today, it's too cold.

MrsSunshine those last few pounds are definitely the hardest. Unfortunately as you lose weight you have to reduce your daily calories to maintain the weight loss. I got stuck at 9 stone last time so I'm not sure if I will make it to my goal of 8 stone 7. Is there something you eat regularly that you can swap for a lower calorie alternative?

mrssunshinexxx · 08/01/2018 20:13

Hi pav I'm not sure .. probably?!
I don't eat breakfast I do 16:8 'diet' it works for me
Today I had one slice of seeded brown toast with some beans.. a kiwi and a apple and 2 protein balls i homemade they are onl small
Then dinner chilli made with lots of veg and a tablespoon of rice
Some grapes and 1 Lindt choc x

Pavonia · 08/01/2018 20:38

Crikey MrsSunshine that doesn't sound very much at all! Don't eat less! How much do you weigh now?

mrssunshinexxx · 08/01/2018 21:07

Oh god really I thought it was enough? Would you advise anything different ? I don't eat very much meat / or often mainly veggie

mrssunshinexxx · 08/01/2018 21:08

I'm 9.6/9.7 I want to get down to 9 st so I mis calculated before apologies 6/7lbs to lose but feels impossible ?! The fact I get married in 5 months should be spurring me on!

HattietheManatee · 08/01/2018 21:17

Ooh, had the smoked salmon plates from Jamie’s 5 ingredients book tonight instead of frittata, with some leftover mackerel pate and it was delicious! And only 4.4g of carb. Totally recommend.
