Ok I have not been in a good place and this week I divided to make changes in work and lifestyle. One day at a time . Slowly making little changes every day and slowly I can feel my mental health improving a tiny bit . I bit the bullet this morning and weighed in at 14st 1.5 lb .

Instead of berating myself I said I would start today in the food . The exercise I have started to tackle slowly .

So I just counted 11 weeks to Xmas and I would love to be 13 stone by then . Anyone fancy a buddy .

I’m nearly 50 with teenagers so I am not expecting to be svelte but would like to feel a bit healthier fitter and not like there iss a big tyre pushing into me when I strap my seat belt on .

Something like a stir-fried chicken or veg dish plus plain rice wouldn't be too bad (I think chicken with cashew is ok calorie wise - mainly due to the fact you usually only get about five cashews in it haha). Usual suspects like prawn toast, prawn crackers, fried rice are real killers, even if they are tasty!

Morning!!! Some amazing loses already on here! I weighed this morning and ive lost 2lbs. Quite pleased as ive not been 100% on the healthy eating bandwagon this week due to seperation stress, why cant i be one of those people who loses their appetite instead of gaining an extra one!

Someone mentioned uo thread about chinese, i know its a bit late now but im sure i was told chow mein type dishes arent too bad, but please don't take it as gospel as im probably wrong Grin

I've been low carbing for about 6 weeks now and initially very happy with my weekly loss.
I did expect the weight loss to slow but in the past 3 weeks I've lost the grand total of 2llbs.

At this rate I have no chance of losing a stone by Xmas. It's quite dispiriting.

Does anyone have any tips for getting me back on track other than reducing meals even more which I don't think I could sustain

Are you on the low carb boot camp threads on here wellcovered? They may be able to help you.

I'm not weighing yet but don't hold out much hope of a loss. I have my period which always stalls any weight loss but at least explains why I was so starving - I'm always starving when I'm due on!

I'm doing SW I need the carbs, I think that the upping your fruit/veg/salad as much as possible, planning your meals/snacks so you're not hungry and tempted to reach for the bad stuff.

Good morning all . Sorry but slow with the messages over weekend . Was really active yesterday. Did a workout and walked and met friends . All good for my head . Only lost 1.5 lbs but never mind . Going to really aim to have a good week this week . Loads of workouts and no snacks unless fruit . Well done to everyone and let’s all keep plugging away

Hey all, I've had a shocking week. A few takeaways, not enough exercise and a whole load of chocolate yesterday Sad

I did manage to go low-cal on a couple of days (ended up ravenous - need to train my body to expect less) so an overall loss of 0.6lbs. Better than nothing, but I had high hopes for a really good kick-start to this diet.

I'm away next week on an all-inclusive holiday. Dreading the scales when I get back, although maybe putting swimmies on each day will inspire me to make healthier choices???

I've lost 3lb this week. Really pleased as that takes me to 1/2 a stone in 2 weeks! I'm now 11st 11.

I know I won't be able to do that every week but I'm setting myself a target of being 11st by 9th December which is when I go to see Steps and Vengaboys which should be doable.

I will join. I'm a stone and half heavier than I should be after a prolonged period of comfort eating.
I've got in some really bad habits when I used to be so conscious of what I ate.
Need help!!

Hello. I’d like to join please. Am aiming to lose a stone by Xmas - started on Saturday. Using MyFitnessPal as it is portion sizes and unnecessary snacks that are my downfall. I was 74.4kg (which is think is about 11 stone 10). I then plan to lose a stone after Christmas as well. Well done on the losses so far.

I’d like to join please. I’m 5’5” and weigh 12 stone 4 pounds. I have a terrible relationship with food but I must lose the baby weight as offspring are now 22 and 18! I’d like to be much nearer the 11 stone mark by Christmas. I weigh myself far too often and then treat myself if i’ve lost a bit Blush

Welcome to all the newbies. @camelfinger how are you finding MyFitnessPal I downloaded it last week and have to say when I remember to input the food it’s great.

Was a bit impatient and weighted myself today and have lost a grand total of 2.5kg in 9days. So happy with this

I don’t even want to weigh myself because I know just from looking and the feel of my clothes that I’m
About a stone too heavy.
Did ok yesterday, 1 piece of toast, some raspberries, bowl of granola for lunch as was stuck in the office and that was all there was, bowl of beef stew that I made with tons of veggies, for dinner last night. Might have had a few squares of dairy milk as well but not bad for a start.
Granola for breakfast today and I’ve a ton of soup for lunch. Out tonight but won’t drink and will dance (gig) so I’m hoping that will be the exercise for today because there won’t be time for anything else.
I’m going pt at work soon, so I’m hoping to use the extra 8 hours a week I have to do some college work but also to fit in some exercise somewhere!
Hope everyone has a good day Smile

I’ll join please!

I’m 5’10 and 12st 7lb - losing 1 more pound will get me into a healthy BMI.

I started the year at 13st 9 but have kind of plateaued so need some motivation. I’ve not been strict at all (obviously!) Would like to lose a stone for 8th December as I have my work’s Christmas night out and want to feel good about myself for the first time in years:)

Well done everyone on all the losses so far!

I managed the two pound ! So that is half a stone in two weeks . I will take that .

Good luck to everyone . I am a bit worried about half term as we are going away and there will be lots of socialising.

Any ideas to keep on track ?

Only 1/2lb but a loss is a loss! I didn’t have the best week, onwards and upwards!

Hi... please may i join? Never had a problem losing weight before and I am really active but a stone has crept on and it is making me so miserable as I just can't get into my clothes. I know it is wine and comfort eating that has done it but I turn 50 in Jan and don't want to be fat. Is this Ok?

Helenb you are more than welcome . We close in age.

Howling and filo well done on the losses.

Golden you are very welcome and doing well so far

Nigel be careful of granola . I’m addicted to it . But now I sprinkle it on my fruit and yoghurt
I’m trying really hard to do my walk or workout and so far so good . I’m beginning to feel a bit firmer so that’s good . Still struggling with food . Love it too much. But am feeling that at least I am making a good effort now and cutting down on lots of snacks .

Thankyou... was relatively good last night but intend to do better today. So frustrating as I put 4 stones on with each pregnancy but had the willpower to lose it afterwards. Possibly hormonal but just feel so tired and low I comfort eat, put on weight, feel more down and low etc. And so the cycle continues. I know I am not massively overweight but could become so if i don't get a grip so onwards, upwards(mentality) and downwards (scales.... hopefully)

Inarutneedhelp · 19/10/2017 09:12

Helen I started this more for my mental health than anything . And I am starting to feel better slowly. I think the main thing for me is activity . To keep busy and active. I make sure I get up and move every hour . I’m walking more places and the tiredness and low feeling is beginning to ebb . I’m not feeling as blobby in my clothes . I’m trying to focus on all that and not on the scales but I would be delighted to get rid of a stone by Xmas . It all helps.
Food choices are getting better and I’m more conscious of what goes in my mouth .

I am currently 2.5 stone heavier than I was pre kids but that’s 20 years ago now . I would be happy to lose a stone and half and finally keep it off forever and just be happy and healthy .

Well a terrible day on the eating front. Two crumpets for breakfast, 5 biscuits for lunch as stuck in the office and it’s all there was, some bolognese sauce for tea (not the pasta at least).
I’ve signed up for an 8 week boot camp thingy. 3 classes a week for two months and they give you a nutrition plan to follow. Dreading it but MUST do it. It was 150 quid. That’s quite a bit in one go and I’m hoping the thought of not wanting to waste the money will make me go!

Nigel good luck with that . I will weigh tomorrow but I feel so much better today . I am wearing trousers freshly washed so normally tight after a wash . Last week they were cutting into me and this morning they feel much better . I’m happy . Think it’s all the walking and perhaps cutting out the morning biccies .

Hope your all okay. So I had a good day even though I was at a party I restricted myself and didn’t eat loads and only had a tiny bit of cake I was happy. Had a couple of bad days due to having a tooth out so all I could manage was icecream and jelly. And then LO in hospital so quick snacks but will weigh in on Monday and see how I did.
