Ok I have not been in a good place and this week I divided to make changes in work and lifestyle. One day at a time . Slowly making little changes every day and slowly I can feel my mental health improving a tiny bit . I bit the bullet this morning and weighed in at 14st 1.5 lb .

Instead of berating myself I said I would start today in the food . The exercise I have started to tackle slowly .

So I just counted 11 weeks to Xmas and I would love to be 13 stone by then . Anyone fancy a buddy .

I’m nearly 50 with teenagers so I am not expecting to be svelte but would like to feel a bit healthier fitter and not like there iss a big tyre pushing into me when I strap my seat belt on .

lovewatching Crackers not very filling is it? Could you have something a bit more protein based to fill you up a bit more?
Sympathy with the lack of sleep though, not easy and some snacks probably inevitable.

Filo and mini welcome . The more the merrier .
Lovewatching sorry to hear you were up last night . What are you having with the crackers . Please have some fulfilling so you don’t want to snack . I had toast and peanut butter again this morning . With half a banana. I feel it really satisfies me .

Lunch probably will be soup again . I admit I hate me own soups , I buy the soup in Aldi or lidl and I love it . Prob 200 Cals a carton . Or just under . As a seasoned dieter I find I do much better when I eat well , 3 good wholesome meals .
I’m not following a plan really just limiting my carbs , upping my veg and cutting out the sweets and icecreams and crisps . That’s my downfall really . My main meals are ok . I suppose portions too I am cutting down on .
It’s a bit wet here today and I was determined to have a walk today , feel the fresh air and clear the head . As I said I am doing this not just for weight loss but for m mental health which has not been too good .
So will I regret going for a walk ? No
Will I regret not going ? Yes
Ok off to get the rain coat as I have persuaded myself . Dread it but I know it will make me feel good .
Let’s all do something today to make us feel good even if it is paint the nails or a coffee and a magazine . Let’s not use food to make us feel good .

Have a great day all

I plan on having ham and tomato’s on my crackers. I have managed to have a cup of tea and no biscuits. Which is a win for me.
What’s the aldi soup like? I tend to just buy Waitrose own tomato soup.

Breakfast omelette 2 eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, left over cooked broccoli florets, used fry lite and hot sauce (very low calorie) yummy
I'm basically doing eggs, porridge berries or weetabix with fruit for breakfast.
Need to work on a few lunch dinner recipes.
Lots of water, drink a glass now everyone :)

I committed the cardinal sin of weighing this morning. I don’t know how as I have been good and have exercised but I am up 1 lb . I’m going to try not to dweell on it . I possibly have eaten too much rice with my curry so I will try to reduce my carbs further. They really are not my friend .

Does anyone make overnight oats ? If so how ?

Filo breakfast looks fab .

Inarticulate I'm an obsessive weigher at the moment, even before after the look but I'm making better choices at each meal so try not to dwell too much, it fluctuates so much, water etc
I tried to do overnight oats once in the slow cooker it was distrusting!
The SW recipe is 40g oats, fruit and berries and 0% yogurt mixed together and left overnight. You can then add honey in the morning (I need to count honey as a syn) not tried it yet.
Well done Cows, I did 3.5lb last week which was my first, I'm hoping for 2 this week :)
I need to start exercising!

Hello - just had a lurk on this thread as also losing weight at the moment. I saw @Inarut's question about overnight oatmeal and had to jump in as it is my new favourite thing!

If you have a slow cooker, try this recipe: fitfoodiefinds.com/2015/10/crock-pot-maple-cinnamon-steel-cut-oatmeal/

You stick it on overnight and it is all ready when you wake up (you just have to give it a big stir!). Smells lovely :)

You can play around a bit with choice of sweeter (doesn't have to be maple syrup), the type of milk you use etc to suit your taste and total calories. I put a small dollop of peanut butter and half a teaspoon of brown sugar on top to make it extra filling and tasty. Makes about 6-8 bowls but it stores well in the fridge for a few days. It goes a bit jelly-like once cold, but you just add a bit more milk/water remainder, stick it in the microwave, give it a stir and it goes back to normal.

It is absolutely delicious! BUT don't use ordinary rolled oats, they have to be steel-cut oats. These are a bit harder to find, but normal oats will go mushy and horrible in the slow cooker as they overcook. I get mine on Amazon.

Excuse all the crazy autocorrects on my last post I hope it made sense.

I think that's the recipe I made, but with the wrong oats!! I will try again with the steel cut ones! X

THanks for the recipes ladies. I will try them . I’m not keen on porridge so not sure about the one in the slow cooker but I am will give a go sometime .
So far exercise going well . And I feel better in myself for that. Even after a few days the trousers are not so tight. I guess I need to remember it’s not always about the scales .

Well done to the losses so far.

Georgia you are welcome . I really didn’t want to weigh myself and I admit I actually cried . But the shock was needed .

Would you dip a slice of wholemeal bread in a whisked egg , dry fry . Sprinkle with cinnamon and too with fresh fruit . Fruit and Greek yoghurt I like too.

Hello all and a big welcome to newbies .

I am back from my first week weigh in and I have lost 5 pounds !

I am really pleased but know that I have a lot of hard work ahead of me but it's a good start. Hoping to manage at least 2 pounds this week and get 1/2 stone done .

Hey all, is it ok if I join? I've put on 11lbs in the last year or so, so I'm hoping for a 1lb per week loss for a Christmas with a real sense of achievement! And a sense of my clothes fitting...

I haven't really got a strategy in mind as I haven't got a specific 'downfall'. Mainly I just eat a bit too much at meals, and finish up the DCs leftovers. I think perhaps I just need to find enjoyment in other things - long hot bath instead of snacking in the evenings etc.

Anyway, starting at 10stone 10.6lbs and doing my weigh ins on Mondays.

Well done to those who have already started - and massive Star to Howlong. 5lbs is amazing!

After being so good I've had a bad day.

A friend's birthday so we went for afternoon tea. I thought I'd be ok if I just had that but it was her idea for us to then have a glass of prosecco and a Cosmopolitan. Grin

Bugger.

FiloPasty · 10/10/2017 20:09

Prosecco and a cocktail are about the same as one large glass of red I'd imagine in terms of calories, don't worry too much x

I have weigh in tomorrow morning!

2.5lb down, I've managed to lose 6lb in two weeks so am delighted. I think it's mainly upping my fruit/veg and minimising the boozing.

So I have downloaded the my fitness pal app and I have been inputting my food data and watching the calories it’s hard work. And don’t feel like I will achieve much.

I am on average walking 5000 steps so need to up them.

Need to get some new bathroom scales not sure if I should go digital or normal.

Agree with digital scales .
I aim to have 10000 steps per day but 30 mins must be exercise so therefore where my heart beat goes up . I achieve this be either a walk or a exercise dvd ( well you tube ) .

Going for a Chinese tonight . Any ideas what I should have. I’m not a huge fan. I want to enjoy it as I don’t go out too much so would like something tasty .

Can I join please? I weighed Tuesday and I'm 11st8. A good way over my happy weight of 10St. I know what I need to do as I've managed it so many times before but keep falling off the wagon! I am absolutely ravenous today so really struggling. I'm basically calorie counting but trying to keep a good ratio of carb/protein/fat as I do a lot of exercise

I can't help on the Chinese sorry OP - I know what to eat Indian takeaway wise but not Chinese!
