School of Fat - anyone want to join me for an academic year of slimming?

Term begins tomorrow!

Im thinking I could shift some of the excess fat by dieting and exercising according to the school calendar?

So:
*Mon to Fri - diet. Im planning on low carbs plus no booze, soft drinks, no snacks etc.
*Weekends - relaxed but mindful
*School Holidays - relaxed but mindful
*Three PE sessions a week - this will be a challenge for me, thinking an attempt at running, plus walking to work at back (6k steps round trip) three days
*Monday morning assembly aka Weigh In, term time only

I will weigh in tomorrow am but reckon am about 13.5stone at 5 foot 2. Ideally Id like to loose 4 stone, in time for next Summers holiday as we will be abroad for the first time in 6 years.

Anyone wishing to share their menus etc, join in!

Im going to update this thread as much as possible so will probably be more of a diary if others dont fancy it.

I've done well this week. Porridge for breakfast every day, eggs and steamed asparagus, cabbage or spinach for lunch and homemade minestrone with 1 slice bread for dinner. No wine, except today 😳. And no cookies, except today 😳

Trousers fit again but tight so keep going till half term st least.

Can anyone recommend a set of scales?

strongasmeringue · 11/09/2017 08:05

Morning everyone Smile

If I'd have just weighed myself Monday to Monday I would have celebrated a 2.2 lbs loss instead of having ansulk in the middle sonthink I'll just do a weekly weigh in from now on.

Just done just under 30 minutes on the exercise bike and about to walk the dog for 1-2 hours. Will go on the bike at least once more but will try twice if I get chenace in between running my DD around.

Food wise, not sure what I'm having yet.

Saturday is treat day. We don't go mad but I have something and enjoy it instead of feeling guilty. Crisps and chocolate are my downfall but I've not had crisps for about 8 days and the only chocolate was in homemade brownie so feeling very happy with myself.

MacnCheese I got my scales from Asda and they save your height and weight and tell you weight, fat % and water %.

strongasmeringue · 11/09/2017 08:15

MacnCheese - the brand is Salter

CotswoldStrife · 11/09/2017 11:02

No weight loss here , probably doesn't help that I was wearing different clothes - must be more consistent.

Need to start with the exercise!

strongasmeringue · 11/09/2017 13:52

Up your water intake as well.

NapQueen · 11/09/2017 18:43

Dammit forgot to weigh myself this morning! I will hop on the scales tomorrow am.

Ive cut carbs massively this week but have upped my bad fats. So Im expecting to stay the same. Lot less bloated though which is good.

Bugger! I forgot to weigh my self this morning!

Wait a minute. I played truant all week too Grin

I must try harder!

strongasmeringue · 12/09/2017 13:37

Tut tut. Detention it is then Grin.

Just like old times I'm going to be teachers pet. Have done 30 minutes twice, before breakfast and lunch and will do another half hour before dinner. Went out shopping. Felt very low have MH issues but resisted all chocolate and biscuits Shock. This is very odd for me but I know I'll hate myself if I give in and I can have a treat Saturday.

Was awake at three so I expect to be knackered later so having an hours tv then I'll see what ends doing.

Come on everyone, you've got this.

Weighing wise I'm going to try and wait until at least Friday before I have a small treat on Saturday.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 12/09/2017 13:37

Next weigh in on Friday - sort of had the weekend of as my sister went back to oz on Sunday Sad

strongasmeringue · 12/09/2017 15:06

A weekend off for that is fine. Sorry you're sad though.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 13/09/2017 08:11

Aw thanks, we're trying to save to get to oz for Xmas (only need to lay for flights)

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 13/09/2017 08:12

Or pay even! Grin

strongasmeringue · 14/09/2017 12:46

Where is everyone? Lots of late and absence marks Sad.

I've just reread my first post and haven't managed the afternoon hours walk to the shop but I've beaten my 10000 steps almost every day and I've been very active. Apart from yesterday I do 30 minutes three times a day on the exercise bike as well as a long walk with my DDog. My mental health is still terrible but I haven't succumbed to chocolate. The worst I've done was buy ready made liver, bacon and mash from M&S yesterday and a cheese and potato bake from Sainsbury's for yesterday's dinner as couldn't face cooking. Tonight I'm having fresh tuna nicoise salad.

Weight wise , 13 stone 1lb so 4lbs off.

Hi - shock sneaky weigh this morning - should only do it once a week. But....since I joined the thread I appear to have lost 8lbs!!! Will wait and see what the real weight is on Monday but I was so pleased to see the figures pop up.

strongasmeringue · 14/09/2017 20:17

Well done wcg!!! That's a huge loss, great! Well done.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 15/09/2017 07:45

Ugh....0.3kg loss....still I suppose almost 3kgs in 2 weeks with a blowout on the weekend isn't bad going...

Jane119 · 15/09/2017 07:56

As a weight loss coach could I offer you some advice ? 1. I think your suggestion is a great idea. Community always helps with weight loss. Doing it together. However I would change the title of your group from School of Fat to something which you are genuinely aiming for such as Slim School. Keeping the word Fat in your psyche means you will only get more of that..or at the very best you may lose weight but you will regain it. It boils down to the psychology of behaviour change. You have to focus on what you want, not on what you don't want and naming your group school of fat is reinforcing what you don't want. Food for thought.. (pardon the pun)... I hope you don't mind my suggestion. It's meant to help you. I have a mini ebook which I could post here on mindset and weight loss. It's free. Let me know if it would be of interest.

macncheesewithbacon · 15/09/2017 10:41

I've had another good week. 2 eggs and veg every morn with 1 slice granary toast, lentil soup for lunch and salad or fruit in the evening. Trousers feeling better! Drinking 3 litres of water a day. Had a massive steak sandwich last night thou, with mayo, caramelised onions and fries 😳 - the pub was a really bad choice to go. I didn't drink thou and had a small amount of the fries.... I'm keeping going till half term then increasing evening meal

strongasmeringue · 15/09/2017 12:12

I have to disagree with Jane. If the thread was called slim school I'd find it pressure to be something I'm never going to be.

I'm musing what the best day to weigh in is. Saturday night we allow a treat. Last week was some chilli prawns from marks. This week, given my mental state it might be chocolate. So maybe Friday should be weigh day after six good days.

Sounds very good mac!

CotswoldStrife · 15/09/2017 22:49

I think you may be on to something with the Friday weigh-in strongasmeringue as I had a sneaky weigh-in this morning and it was considerably less than Monday's! Different room/floor though which may affect the scales or more likely the Saturday takeaway and Sunday roast, how I have the cheek to blame the floor for the difference I don't know

It's been a stressful week for various reasons so I'll be glad to get it over. Considering joining the Princess for Christmas thread as well ambitious but still have not exercised! It's on my to-do list ...

strongasmeringue · 16/09/2017 17:34

I've only managed 20 minutes On the bike today but I have walked for over four miles - with the dog and shopping.

macncheesewithbacon · 17/09/2017 13:34

The Salter scales arrived today. 1 stone to lose before Xmas and then if I don't put a load on, another before Easter. DH also weighted himself and is 10lb heavier than helps heaviest ever! (Still not overweight as he's 6ft5)

So I've eaten eggs, bacon and pancakes as DD made it and how could I refuse? Roast pork for dinner. Oh dear :(

strongasmeringue · 17/09/2017 14:46

It's okay. Smaller than normal portion of roast pork and lots of different vegetables. You've got this.

macncheesewithbacon · 17/09/2017 19:01

Strong- I can't thank you enough. Your post is so obvious but was a.mn epiphany for me. I have always thought that if I eat unhealthy food the day is ruined and I go overboard but I did what you said and didn't have pudding or wine so I'm feeling v pleased with myself. Thanks

strongasmeringue · 17/09/2017 19:24

Well done mac .

Dh is being a very bad influence as we've had some chocolate today but I acknowledge that it's still early days for me, I'm sad, I will walk DDog for as long as she wants tomorrow and I will do my usual 90 minutes on my exercise bike. I won't give up. I'm about 4lbs down and while I wish it was more, slow and steady means the weight will stay off.

We've all got this.
