My plan to lose weight over the summer failed spectacularly.

I actually managed to put on half a stone Blush

So starting today I am getting back on track .

I will get to the gym/out for a jog at least 3 times a week.

I will stop eating so much .

I will have at least 2 dry days a week.

I am in the gym car park now and want to be accountable so here goes.

Wish me luck and please come and join me.

Ooooh, but someone at work asked if I'd lost weight!!! I haven't, but it was still a boost!

ThomasinaCoverly · 07/09/2017 08:04

So far so good - sticking to the diet, and I've done another session of JM yoga. I've decided next week I'll go back to the 30-day Shred: I might just manage to get up in time to do it as it's relatively short, and I'll keep on with the yoga at the weekends. What I really want is to get to a Pilates class, but there's never one at a time I can manage!

beela · 07/09/2017 09:55

I have shredded this morning because I failed to go swimming last night after getting home late from work.

I ate well yesterday though - porridge & stewed apple for breakfast, homemade veggie soup for lunch, cod and lentils for tea. No snacks. And just a sip of dh's wine instead of a whole glass to myself Grin

FlightyMare · 07/09/2017 13:33

Hello all - day 4 of my healthy eating plan, and still going well. I'm having tuna mayo salad with a boiled egg for lunch, which should keep me sorted until tea time. Strangely I'm not missing my sweet junk snacks, although I had a bad headache the first day. I've since decided that this was down to caffeine withdrawal, so I'm allowing myself 1 Pepsi Max a day, which I know isn't strictly speaking 'healthy', but I don't think 1 will do me much harm, and it's only for the short term whilst I adjust to the lack of sugar.

For those people discussing weighing in - I've been advised that measuring and taking photos is a better method of monitoring progress, and I'm more than happy to avoid the scales as I find them really disheartening when I don't lose lbs as fast as I want to. I'm going to try and focus on the health benefits instead, and try to only weigh once every 2 weeks.

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 07/09/2017 21:33

So power Pilates the day after running for the first time in a while may have been a bit ambitious. I am sore. And a bit worried about minor challenges like going downstairs/sitting on the loo tomorrow (Shredders will feel my pain I expect). Still, hoping it will have the desired effect!

Howlongtillbedtime · 08/09/2017 07:17

bitchyinnermonologue that is such a fab boost .

I didn't manage the gym yesterday, I am shattered this week. A lot to take in with the new job and by the time I finish for the day I can't quite face it. Hopefully that will change by next week and I will definitely get there over the weekend.

Good luck to all for a good Friday !

Weighed myself this morning and have lost 1lb, which is OK considering that I haven't really adjusted what I'm eating at all, just stuck to the 16:8 time frame. I need to do better on the exercise over the weekend and next week, but I feel I've got off to a reasonable start.

BitchyInnerMonologue · 09/09/2017 14:33

Well, last night was a teeeeeeeny bit of a mistake. There may have been Wine Quite a LOT of Wine

So today there is lots of carbs, fizzy juice and headache tablets... Envy

Start again tomorrow Blush

Can I join? I've been feeling pretty bloated and shit after the summer due to holidays and not exercising for over a month. I'm now having a fit of self-improvement (tracking/organising finances as well as fitness) and want to lose weight by Christmas.

Plan is:
Exercise - 30ish minutes of brisk exercise 5/6 days per week (alternating various Jillian Michaels DVDs with running...gym opens in October so will swap the running for gym then)
Average at least 12k steps per day

Food -
Mon - Thurs: 1400 calories if I've exercised, 1200 if not - no alcohol on these days.
Friday and Sunday: 1600 calories if exercised, 1400 if not
Saturdays: Don't count (but try not to go mad)

Started on 5th September and sticking to it so far...I don't have loads of weight to lose, but would feel much better if I could drop between 7 - 14lb.

We can do it!

BusterTheBulldog · 09/09/2017 20:07

Please can I join? Have also put on weight over summer, can't get into some clothes now and refuse to buy new ones!

I also have a foot and knee injury which is hindering my running / class programme. Bought an exercise bike today in a bit to do that on days I can't do much else.

I have some jeans that are my target to get into!

cottonwool125 · 09/09/2017 20:28

Hello! I'd also like to join please Smile

I don't have a clue what I weigh, as I'm too scared to step on the scales Blush. After the birth of my DS last year, I went down to my slimmest for a long while, at around 10st 2lb. I managed to maintain this for a while. However, over the last few months, my eating has got out of control Sad. I saw some photos of myself that were taken yesterday, and I just wasn't happy with what I saw.

I don't have a particular weight I'd like to lose/be (as I said, I don't really know what I weight now. If I was to estimate, I'd say I'm probably 11 and a half stone), but I just want to lose enough so that I'm happy when I look in the mirror Smile

Would love to join the gym, but DP works long hours and I also work; the rest of the time I have DS with me. So at the moment it's not feasible! However I love walking, so I try to get out on a long walk on the days I'm not at work Smile

My weaknesses are anything sweet (cakes, biscuits, ice cream), and bread. I'm currently having white toast with proper butter for breakfast every day and a white bread sandwich for lunch, with snack in between. So looking for any sort of suitable alternatives I'll enjoy Smile (I do however have a massive aversion to salad- believe me I've tried every type under the sun, but I really just can't stand them Grin).

I look forward to getting to know you all Grin how's everyone day been?

JustTheWayYouAre · 11/09/2017 07:13

Wow, first weigh in this morning and I've lost 4lb Smile

ThomasinaCoverly · 11/09/2017 07:34

I've been fairly good over the weekend, and got in another session of JM yoga, but slept badly last night so couldn't drag myself out of bed to Shred this morning. Tomorrow is another day...

DeliciousIrony · 11/09/2017 20:19

Fabulous start JustTheWay!

I've had a relatively good weekend, and going strong today. 1300 cals and a run. I am awful at running but today I managed to go much further than before without stopping, just by slowing my pace a little bit, so I'm really pleased with that.

BusterTheBulldog · 12/09/2017 11:01

Well done everyone! Managed two gym classes yest and off to join running club tonight. Haven't weighed myself but feel more positive.

It's just the sweet things for me 😬. I can't resist!

JustTheWayYouAre · 12/09/2017 13:23

Thanks Delicious, I've found it difficult to shed any significant weight since menopause, so I feel quite motivated after that.

Howlongtillbedtime · 13/09/2017 07:25

Good morning all , I haven't been on for a couple of days but I am still on it. Have lost another pound which is nowhere near enough hut its a start.

Am failing on the gym front , my new job is tiring me out and I just can face it. Am hoping once I get through this week things will calm down.

Good luck everyone!

I haven't managed to Shred yet this week, but biked to work and back yesterday (20 miles round trip). Sticking to the 16:8 eating pattern, so we'll see what happens at the weekend when I check my weight.

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 13/09/2017 18:03

I'm now 2lbs down and actually enjoying exercise as well as (mostly) eating right. So it's all good here. Id
like to get another lb off this week then aim to lose another 3-4 by the end of sept to take me back to where I was before the summer happened.

Well done to others as well - some great results.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 14/09/2017 21:15

I lost 1lb this week (weighed yesterday but forgot to check in). Takes me to 8 and a half lbs in 5 weeks. Slow and steady but I do think this is what will do it for me.

imjessie · 14/09/2017 21:22

I lost a pound 🤷‍♀️

Pinkvici22 · 15/09/2017 06:35

Well done everyone!

Just weighed....I've lost a pound too! That's 8lbs in 3 weeks. It's my birthday in 2 weeks and I'd love to hit the stone mark...6lbs seems a lot though.

Count me in here.
My youngest has now started school and I'm ready to lose the 3stones I've been carrying around.
I've improved my eating for the last 2 weeks and joined a gym last week. My bloat has gone and my body shape has changed already but I've only lost 3lbs. I can see that it's going to be a long road. My goal is to drop a couple of dress sizes by Spring.
I'm loving the gym surprisingly, something I've always been terrified of but what a buzz afterwards.

ThomasinaCoverly · 16/09/2017 11:15

I've lost another pound, which is quite surprising considering that I've eaten loads of biscuits at work in the afternoons. There must be something in this 16:8 business. On the exercise front, I've biked to work and back twice (4 hours' cycling altogether), which is what I was aiming for, but I've completely failed to start the Shred. I'm about to do a JM yoga session now!

Well done everyone else - it's great to have this thread for a bit of support.
