September is here and the Slenderistas (and TV) have their game face on.

Golden days will be in abundance as we aim to shift 7 Lindas in September

I got a double chocolate cookie from waitrose today.

I always reach for the sweets when miserable

HappyGowerGirl · 11/09/2017 19:07

Hey Niki, sorry you didn't get the job, that sucks. Don't beat yourself up over a much needed cookie, tomorrow is another day!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/09/2017 20:51

Well, I've gained weight, not lost it.

Had a really crappy week/weekend when we thought the cat was a bit off colour, then discovered he'd gone blind. Didn't think too much of it and he was booked in for tests. But he went downhill and when he went in for the tests a couple of days later he was in a bit of a sorry state. Blood tests, a couple of days on a drip and no improvement, led the vet to believe that he had a brain tumour and we had to have him PTS as he was very poorly.

DD is heartbroken. Diet has not been uppermost on my mind.

Back to it though. Healthy dinner cooked. Treats avoided when shopping at the supermarket.

I WILL lose weight this week.

pumpkin321 · 11/09/2017 21:04

Hi ladies,

Sorry to those feeling crappy today. I know it's easier said than done, but I always think there's no point indulging in a treat when you're dieting just to feel guilty about it. I have a little something sweet in the evening, and some wine at the weekends factored into my daily calories.......I think I'd feel miserable without it! I've done ok today and stayed within my 1500 allowance. Might try to cut it down a little now my appetite has adjusted to less food!

QuimReaper · 11/09/2017 21:12

Oh Madeline how absolutely heartbreaking, I really am so so sorry Sad

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/09/2017 21:18

He was only 2. So it's come as rather a shock, compared to when our previous, 19 year old cat died. We'd expected that. We didn't expect this.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 12/09/2017 06:26

Morning all!

Madeline I'm so sorry to hear about your cat Flowers

That much be so disappointing Niki, I think a cookie is quite a restrained reaction really.

I weighed myself this morning and after a weekend off the wagon and a fast day yesterday I have evened out to be the same as I was on Friday. Quite pleased actually as I was convinced I would have gained!

HappyGowerGirl · 12/09/2017 06:45

Really sorry about your at Madeleine.

I'm down half a Linda this morning, that's good enough for me.

ponygirlcurtis · 12/09/2017 07:45

So sorry to hear about your cat, DrMadeline. Flowers Hope the kids are doing OK.

Sorry too about the job Niki.

HairsprayBabe · 12/09/2017 07:57

Niki and Madeline Flowers I hope the week improves for you both.

10.6 for me again today, annoying as I was hoping for a bit of movement after a good weekend and a Monday fast....

Another fast day today, I feel I don't really do them "properly" as I only have herbal tea and 4 calorie broth in the day and then have a reasonable sized dinner in the evening. Maybe if I ate smaller portions throughout the day they would work better?

KikisDeliveryService · 12/09/2017 08:15

I could do with some accountability this month! Hello, long time no see Grin 👋

I got injured at the beginning of summer, was in a lot of pain and ate my sorrows and lost all my fitness.

I'm mostly recovered, so back in training which has helped my mental state enormously but there's a mountain of fat and a sugar addiction to be tackled. I'm on it now but some group support would be very helpful.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/09/2017 08:54

Oh Niki I'm sorry the job didn't work out. Getting drenched must've felt like adding insult to injury.

Madeline I'm sorry about your cat. What a horrible shock.

Hello Kiki. Lovely to see you!

I cannot get my game together at all at the moment.

QuimReaper · 12/09/2017 09:17

Wow, welcome back Kiki! So sorry to hear about the injury - sorry if I've got you mixed up with someone else, isn't it martial arts you do?

Hairspray you could give it a go, but I really don't see why it would make the difference - I'm personally full of admiration that you can make it til dinner on just herbal tea. (What's this 4-calorie broth you speak of?) I suspect you might find if you started eating during the day you'd "wake up" your appetite and struggle. You know how I'm always bleating on about finding something you can do and doing it that way, it sounds like you've got a manageable system for you and personally I'd just roll with it.

HairsprayBabe · 12/09/2017 09:42

Stock cubes have about 12-20 cals per cube, I use a 1/4 for a mug of broth so between 3 and 5 calories for a mug.

Also I have a feeling that would be the case, I am much more nibbly on weekends when I have brekky.

I also have a very early dinner, we eat as soon as I can get it cooked after work, between 530 and 6 at the latest!

KikisDeliveryService · 12/09/2017 12:34

Hello! Thanks boop, quim, it's nice to be back! Well remembered quim, that is me. I am feeling incredibly grateful to be mobile again and learning the fine balance of keeping a 40-something year old body happy.

For me food and exercise is so tightly entwined that I find it near impossible to eat healthily if I'm not training and very quickly return to sloth-like tendencies when I don't exercise. Add pain into that and the horror that is taking painkillers for any duration and I quickly start self-medicating with sugar.

Second day of NO SUGAR. Whoop! I can give or take booze but sugar is the killer for me.

Enough boring on about me, hope everyone's got their slender (is task) mojo on this sunny (where I am) day.

NikiBabe · 12/09/2017 12:48

Oh Niki I'm sorry the job didn't work out. Getting drenched must've felt like adding insult to injury.

I did. I felt very sorry for myself lol!

I didnt really want the job, it was too far away, but I needed it.

I am feeling a bit sorry for myself as the bad weather and heavy rain may put paid to my cycling and if it does then it is £3 a day or £90 a month for buses.

What scares me is winter is looming and I have one pair of boots left that are 4 years old and have a hole in the side. The rest wore out a while ago.

I got my eyes tested and my prescription has doubled but I cant really afford new glasses.

My tinted moisturiser, face creams and hair products have all run out in one go.

I dont know if i should dump new things on a credit card or just raid my savings. This is why I needed the job.

I guess I could quit the gym but that will leave me with nothing to do. Not much change here. I seem to be stuck at fluctuating between 10st dead and 1lb over or 1lb under.

Hot PT today though in class :)

HappyGowerGirl · 12/09/2017 15:36

Hey Niki, If you can stretch to £25 I have previously bought Specsavers glasses in that price range and they looked good:-)

NikiBabe · 12/09/2017 15:37

I was thinking of going to specsavers! Are they durable in the £25 range?

HappyGowerGirl · 12/09/2017 15:52

Sure! Many of the £100+ designer frames are also just plastic... it's really just the brand you're paying for (in my opinion).

thismeansnothing · 12/09/2017 15:53

Never been in any of the weight loss boards but I need some accountability because enough's enough. It's all spiralled out of control since May/June. A really bad gastritis flare up, DH in and out of hospital for the summer holidays, all exercise and routine went out the window and now the schools have gone back and I'm at my heaviest since having dd 5 years ago and was 82.3kg when I weighed yday. So disappointed in myself. Can't go low carb. Did that before 2 years ago and it screwed up my thyroid no end and I'm still seeing the consultant for it now so can't make that mistake again.

So as of yday I'm back on MFP tracking kcals for now.
Got my Fitbit back on rather than it gathering dust in a drawer somewhere.
Yday I restarted c25k (was a few weeks into the 10k one before I got ill) again and did that in the gym with a weights session.

Set my first goal to get down to 76kg then I'll take it from there

BitOutOfPractice · 12/09/2017 15:59

Hello this nd welcome to the very best thread on MNâ„¢

Sounds like you've got a plan there. I use MFP too and find it very useful for curbing my tendency to think "this won't hurt"

Good luck nd keep posting for fab support

I've done it! Actually managed a golden day!

OP posts:
KikisDeliveryService · 12/09/2017 22:54

Don't give up the gym Niki! I'm sure things will turn around for you but don't stop the thing that makes you happy and keeps you healthy.

This - yes to accountability! I was offered cake this evening and declined without hesitation, because I wanted to be able to say I've had a golden day on here, which I have. Grin golden day, whoop!

HappyGowerGirl · 13/09/2017 06:42

Lost a little bit again this morning; 9.10 now and feeling&looking so much better than a few weeks ago.

HairsprayBabe · 13/09/2017 08:08

Morning all & welcome this I do lower carb but not low low carb, so I still eat pulses and most veg but stay away from any white carbs and reduce the amount of root veg.

10.5 scales are going down and that is a 1lb loss for me so far this month Grin better than a poke in the eye and I am hoping for a little more before the week is out.

DP has said I can ask 3 questions about what we are doing this weekend I have asked two so far,

  1. Are we going on a train? - No, so it will be either in Birmingham or somewhere we can get to by bus, or tram.
  2. Are we staying overnight somewhere? - Yes

I still have one more question so I am thinking hard, the only other things I know is it isn't weather dependant, and it has cost a fair amount....

Any guesses?
