3 stone in 3 months?

chalkyc2 · 11/11/2022 11:53

I find myself needing to do this (well - the first 3 stone is merely the tip of the iceberg but anyway). I've been rubbish and following weight loss success then gall bladder surgery I appear to have put on around 2 stone in 6 months. Which is shocking and disgusting but anyway, here I am.

Previous success was with the fast 800. It is brutal - but works. With exercise. Im trying to get myself in the mindset!

Anyone fancy joining me and coming along for the ride? Ultimately I need to lose 40kg (6 stone ish). Im so unhappy about my size it consumes every waking thought - but not so much it seems that it stops me eating chocolate every evening....

That's good @CalculatingSuccess - fast 800 is what I keep coming back to. Tentative start for me today and then full on from tomorrow.

@NeedAHoliday2021 - I'm 50 in March this year!! I had planned to be amazing but I'll be a work in progress and that will just have to be ok.

Right - about to drag the 11 yr old up and out he can walk into town with me!

@chalkyc2 March is 3 months away. We can do this! Life and health is always a work in progress so that’s absolutely enough.

dh, dd11 and I just did a 5k. Dd started enthusiastic but I’m fairly sure she hates me now. My other dds (11 yo - twin of one who ran - and 14yo) stayed on the sofa. They’ve promised to come next time. 14yo needs to build herself up for skiing in February.

my aim is to run a slow but steady 10k by end of January and to try to get under 11st by February (that might be ambitious). I’m calorie counting - 800-1000 a day this week then 1200 after that and low carb from Monday with boot camp. They say no need to calorie count but I find it’s the only way I can do it.

PermanentTemporary · 02/01/2023 14:34

Getting absolutely nowhere so far except for deciding to do dry January which may help. Book club tonight which is normally a trigger for vast amounts of alcohol and snacks but not this time.

Witchymcwitch · 02/01/2023 16:26

Hi All! I’m back on board now after Xmas off. Weighed myself the day after Boxing Day and gained 2lb which I’m ok with, I’m sure a bit more by now though. Will check tomorrow morning.
Back to Pilates, fast dog walks, 800cals low carb, no sugar, and lots of water.

Im glad I lost 9lbs before Xmas, even if I’ve put half of it back on!

girljulian · 02/01/2023 16:54

Hi again all! @CalculatingSuccess i am in the exact same position as you — took two weeks off but have stayed the same, now back on the Exante.

DownintotheDitch · 02/01/2023 17:07

Room for one more?!
I also have a lot of weight to lose and plan on making some drastic changes for quick results. I am not able to exercise at the moment due to some horrible inflammatory issues so will have to do diet alone. Recently started hrt - not sure how that will impact weight. I have had good success in the past and had managed to keep the weight off but for various reasons I now need to take action again.
Very frustrating…. I don’t do a weekly weigh in as I find it can be discouraging but plan to weigh in at monthly-ish intervals and use my clothes as a guide in the meantime.
Good luck to everyone!

Hi, I've lost count of the number of these threads I've joined and then immediately fallen off but here we are 😂

I'm the heaviest I've ever been and have 15kg to lose after baby last March. He's finally started sleeping better so I feel a bit more able to focus on me again. I'd love to be feeling good for my birthday early March.

I've started by moving all the leftover Christmas chocolate from next to the kettle 🫣 to the treat drawer. At least it's out of sight and nibbling distance 😅 also did Park Run on NYD and had a good old de-clutter when taking the decs down today, all feels good!

stealthninjamum · 06/01/2023 09:02

I’m back. I have not been dieting over Xmas, it was just too stressful and there was a fair amount of comfort eating too.

The good news is I still have my two good habits

  1. my everyday oats breakfast. I make 5 pots a time with fruit and freeze. So every day I have a quick breakfast - this stops me reaching for the toast. I have been doing this throughout the Xmas period
  2. Friday I still wear my nice skirt - the one that doesn’t quite do up. When that fits that’ll an inch off my waste

Building on those things I’m going to bring the rest of my diet back to speed with homemade soups, omelettes and salads.

CalculatingSuccess · 06/01/2023 11:21

Hi @girljulian , it feels so good to be back on it again. I’m down 2.5 kilos since Jan 1st! I really do love exante but don’t like the bars, so have replaced those with grenade and fulfil bars and they are delicious!! Xx

Witchymcwitch · 06/01/2023 14:08

Weigh in today and I’ve gained 5lb over Xmas! Oops..but there you go it’s xmas and I’m not going to beat myself up over it.

Looking at it positively, I lost 9lb before xmas, which probably puts me in a better position than waiting till New Year.

Witchymcwitch · 13/01/2023 13:07

Weigh in today. I’ve lost 3lb this week, so 7lb in total since starting in Nov and gaining 5lb over Xmas. 2st 6lb to go!

I downloaded the Blood Sugar Diet recipe book and there’s some tasty meals in there. Had the sugar withdrawal headaches a bit, but should pass soon.

How’s everyone else getting on?

stealthninjamum · 16/01/2023 12:58

Well done witchy that’s a brilliant reduction.

I have no idea how much I weigh, I start every day with good intentions but we and dds have been ill, fortunately just with colds but bad enough that we’ve all been eating crap.

Anyway I am about to log todays food on mfp and I’m back on the wagon.

chalkyc2 · 18/01/2023 08:14

Failing quietly here guys. I'm not an inspirational OP!!

3.5 weeks to skiing and I cried trying in the £500 worth of ski kit I ordered. Well at least I'm saving money by sending it back...!!

chalkyc I’m sorry to hear that it is really upsetting when clothes don’t fit. Im in a similar boat, I’ve booked a holiday to Iceland in April and I don’t know if my warm clothes will fit or if I should buy bigger now. By April it might not be so easy to buy things like warm jackets and trousers so I suppose I have no choice but to diet.

Just keep chatting here, even if it’s a bad day, we’re here.

Witchymcwitch · 18/01/2023 10:59

Don’t despair Chalky!
It was a very challenging goal and we did start before Christmas!

How much have you lost since you started?
Even losing a bit will make you feel better than you did before.

stealthninjamum · 20/01/2023 08:48

I weighed myself, I’m 185 so 1lb down on when I started in November!

I tried on my winter coat for my holiday in April and I need to lose about 2 inches from my boobs and 6 from my stomach for it to comfortably so I’m wondering if I can do it or if I should buy a new one. There are some in sales but I’d hate to waste money on clothes when I’m just fat! Probably the maximum I could lose in weight in three months is a stone as I always lose it really slowly.

PermanentTemporary · 21/01/2023 11:28

I really haven't achieved anything yet - I'm more focused on dry January. Sadly it doesn't mean weight loss if I fill my face instead... I also have to remember that lentils are not low calorie.

Witchymcwitch · 21/01/2023 16:41

Forgot to report weigh in yesterday!

Well after getting thoroughly pissed off at being really good and not losing anything then gaining a pound! I had a slip up ate a whole bar of Tony’s chocolate and lost a whole pound….how’s that for logic.

Think I need to reduce my portion sizes and up my activity throughout the day.

How’s everyone doing.
@chalkyc2 Hope you haven’t given up? We can do this!

Aren't they??

They are healthy though right 😭

@chalkyc2 @CalculatingSuccess

Yes I am on saxenda. It's a liraglutide daily pen injection which reduces your appetite....and it works really well. I've kept at a lower dose to get my moneys worth even though it's slower progress

At almost£50 a pen it's expensive. I came off it briefly late summer and maintained my loss so doubt I'd put all the weight back on again, plus I've changed my portion sizes now naturally reaching for less

Available on private prescription from boots/Asda

Did you have to go to a private dr to get a private prescription?

PermanentTemporary · 22/01/2023 09:51

@CorpusCallosum 100g raw lentils is 353 calories, plus im going to cook that with oil, onion etc. An apple is 100 calories... my diet contains lots of pulses, veg and fruit but I eat far too much of them and it's not healthy to be obese.

Witchymcwitch · 28/01/2023 09:24

Weigh in yesterday and I’ve lost……1lb…wow.
Going to keep going though as that’s 8lb in total and my clothes are starting to fit better.

@chalkyc2 Hope you’re doing ok. Have a lovely time skiing and hopefully you’ll drop in again once you’re home

chalkyc2 · 29/01/2023 09:38

Still here! 2 week countdown. I've got clothes that fit - I'm aiming for next year now 😃.

Seriously - January has been a crazy busy work month and excuses apart I've found it really difficult to focus. Taking stock when I get back from the trip in 3 weeks.

The best I can say is I'm about the same weight! Well done to all who are seeing losses - however small.

Witchymcwitch · 04/02/2023 18:17

Very slow progress here but still going down. I lost 1lb this week then went down with norovirus, spent all day yesterday on the loo and woke up 3lb lighter 😂

I know it’ll all pile back on when I start eating again, but for now I’m 12lb down in total!

Wheres everyone gone?
