3 stone in 3 months?

chalkyc2 · 11/11/2022 11:53

I find myself needing to do this (well - the first 3 stone is merely the tip of the iceberg but anyway). I've been rubbish and following weight loss success then gall bladder surgery I appear to have put on around 2 stone in 6 months. Which is shocking and disgusting but anyway, here I am.

Previous success was with the fast 800. It is brutal - but works. With exercise. Im trying to get myself in the mindset!

Anyone fancy joining me and coming along for the ride? Ultimately I need to lose 40kg (6 stone ish). Im so unhappy about my size it consumes every waking thought - but not so much it seems that it stops me eating chocolate every evening....

Have had a struggle this week - no time for any exercise and have been out with work for 3 days - having to have sandwich heavy lunches. Very slow daily losses (and one random very annoying add!) but will weigh in and report tomorrow.

Took all my strength to not have one of the fabulous looking red velvet cupcakes offered at my meeting yesterday!!

Well done for resisting Chalky!

CalculatingSuccess · 24/11/2022 19:27

You are a much stronger lady than I @chalkyc2 !! I would have fallen face first on those cupcakes like manna from heaven!!

I had a mortifying evening this evening; I take dd swimming quite regularly as she likes to go after school. There used to be an incredibly lovely at our school-both utterly attractive and beautiful people to boot (they both run marathons and the kids do lots of sport), but they recently moved house and the kids moved school. Anyway, haven’t seen them for 6 months (in which time I have gained 2.5 stones to add to my already tubby frame) and who is watching their child swim in their first lesson? The child’s lesson ending coincided with the end of the children’s swim session so I had to get out of the pool with my cossie in and have a quick chat to both parents (I am big enough to have an overflap of tummy which was enunciated by the sopping wet costume). I was mortified. That will be enough to keep me on plan for a long time to come!!

CalculatingSuccess · 24/11/2022 19:31

An incredibly lovely family that should say!

chalkyc2 · 25/11/2022 07:54

Ugh calculating - being seen in swimwear is a real fear for me - even in front of family I am just mortified at the state of myself!! Well done for styling it out - I think I'd have had to blank them!!

So. 1.1kg/2.5 lb down this week. Not enough to keep on target! Food has been ok but I haven't done enough exercise as had such a heavy work week. Need to get on that over the weekend.

Another 3lb down this week so 6lb in total.
I’m already feeling less flabby round the middle and my clothes are more comfortable.
must try and up my exercise a little now.

CalculatingSuccess · 25/11/2022 11:38

Went for a walk this morning, you inspired me @Witchymcwitch !! It was lovely but I didn’t go as far as I wanted to; I used to walk miles with the dog and am a bit ashamed of how unfit and unable to walk far I am. If I go every day it should hopefully improve though!! Noticing a massive impact on my blood sugar levels too, I’m much more steady. Last week I would have got out of the pool and would be shaky from hunger. Not the case this week (despite the mortification 😂) xxx

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 25/11/2022 11:51

I've lost over 4 stone since March but now stalling. Got 2 more to go

I'm back on weight loss medication to shift the last 2

I got so sick of faffing around with slimming world/fasting/boot camp that I decided to throw a bit of money at the situation so went down the meds route

CalculatingSuccess · 26/11/2022 10:09

@ThatGirlInACountrySong , that is an amazing loss, well done!! Have you gone onto one of the pens? If I can’t get anywhere with this then medication is my next port of call. How did you lose the 4st?
I’ve been a bit indulgent and booked 5 PT sessions to get me started at the gym, first one is in a few weeks so hoping my gym leggings will fit by then! Xx

stealthninjamum · 26/11/2022 10:30

thatgirlinacountrysong that’s amazing work.

I didn’t have time to weigh myself yesterday so did it today and I’m 2lbs down! I wore my Friday skirt and obviously it still didn’t fit. I hope to see results by New Years Eve.

chalkyc2 · 26/11/2022 13:54

@ThatGirlInACountrySong tell me more please?! Am struggling!

Hi all, can I join? I’ve just RTFT and everyone is doing so well, especially with kids in the house and cooking for other people! Luckily I live just with my partner and he is dieting with me. We started on Monday 21st.

I had just under 2 stone to lose to get back to my “normal weight”…I’ve slowly put on those 24 lbs since May 2021 as a result of IVF and then endometriosis surgery. But enough is enough! I would love to lose 3 stone total as I’ve always (as an adult) hovered around a BMI of about 24.5 and been content enough to be too lazy to diet, while really wishing I could be a stone thinner. Anyway, first weigh in (today, sorry it’s not a Friday) showed a 7 lb loss so I’ll take that, now 17lbs to go to Normal Weight!

CalculatingSuccess · 27/11/2022 09:48

Oooh @girljulian , a 7lb loss is AMAZING!! How are you dieting? Is it calorie counting, Keto, intermittent fasting? I’m doing exante and am on day 5. Clothes are already starting to fit better and my boobs aren’t falling out of my bra anymore, which is always a plus!!

I’m sorry you have had to go through IVF and Endo; I’ve got endo too and it sucks. I hope the surgery was as smooth as possible xx

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 27/11/2022 09:58

@chalkyc2 @CalculatingSuccess

Yes I am on saxenda. It's a liraglutide daily pen injection which reduces your appetite....and it works really well. I've kept at a lower dose to get my moneys worth even though it's slower progress

At almost£50 a pen it's expensive. I came off it briefly late summer and maintained my loss so doubt I'd put all the weight back on again, plus I've changed my portion sizes now naturally reaching for less

Available on private prescription from boots/Asda

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 27/11/2022 10:01

I just got to age 50 and thought I need to stop faffing around.

Downside is new clothes are required as I went from a size 20 to a 14 fairly quickly

girljulian · 27/11/2022 10:01

Hi @CalculatingSuccess , we’re on Exante too! This is day 7 — so I shouldn’t have weighed yet but I cheekily did on the morning of day 5. I know it’s water weight in the first week but I’m still pleased! How are you finding exante? I actually haven’t yet had a shake or bar I didn’t like, the soups are okay with more water and mixed with an electric whisk. Haven’t dared go near the meal products.

CalculatingSuccess · 27/11/2022 10:47

@girljulian , I haven’t dared tried the “meal” replacements yet either. I’ve had shakes and like them all, and I’ve also had the Juiced shakes but I’m not as keen on them. I’ve got loads of them though so have to finish them somehow! I’ve ordered some bars so am waiting for them to be delivered. I’m so excited to have another exante slimmer on here, you aren’t going to shout at me for using MRP’s! Xx

CalculatingSuccess · 27/11/2022 11:10

@ThatGirlInACountrySong oooh I have heard such good things about Saxenda. That is brilliant that you are able to get it from Boots or Asda. Going down from a 20 to a 14 is amazing, I can’t wait to be back in “normal” sized clothes!! Xxx

stealthninjamum · 27/11/2022 12:49

I had never heard of saxenda or exante, I’m wondering if I should do something different to my 1200 cals my fitness pal diet that now seems very 2010s!

I’m wondering if I should try exante for four weeks in the new year.calculatingsuccess girljulian are you properly doing exante for 12 weeks to get the most from ketosis or are you replacing some meals with the exante food? I wonder how I could fit it in with dc and a dp who likes going out for dinner. I could probably tell him I’m doing it but I would rather dc see me eating loads of veg and protein.

I lost another lb since yesterday so that’s 3 so far. Anyway I think I said I want to lose 1/2 stone by 17th December so I’m only 4lbs away. I don’t think that’ll be enough to slip into my smaller party clothes which is a bit depressing, it’s such a horrible time of year to diet as the shops have lovely sparkly clothes but I’d rather not buy anything big to wear once.

redastherose · 27/11/2022 14:55

Can I join in, just found this thread. I've 3 stone to lose, started on Monday 7th November (just after coming back from holiday) so far I've lost just over 3kg so about half a stone which isn't too bad. I really want to lose another 7Lb by Friday 9th December so that is my first target.

girljulian · 27/11/2022 18:17

Hey @stealthninjamum, we’re doing Exante 800 which is three products and a 200 calorie meal. We’ve been finding the challenge of the “meal” quite fun — huge salads with grilled chicken, courgetti with tomato paste and a small amount of lean mince, baked white fish with frozen veg etc.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 27/11/2022 18:20

On saxenda I eat normally....real spaghetti etc. just a lot less of it. I also calorie count

Unsustainable otherwise for me as I get bored of joyless plain eating!

Literally eat a third of my previous portion

stealthninjamum · 27/11/2022 18:23

Thanks girljulian your meals sound lovely. Dieting can be great, I used to love the Hairy Bikers cookbook but the dishes take so long.

Are you really rigid? I’m thinking that might be a good thing to do in January. On the other hand I wonder if slim fast is still around. I’ve never used any diet product before but it’s harder to find the time to meal plan or cook these days.

I had a spare moment so I’ve chopped up three onions. They’ll form the basis of soups for the next few days.

girljulian · 28/11/2022 15:28

@stealthninjamum We've been extremely rigid the past week and probably will be for the next three weeks, then reassess! So far it's working for us: I lost 8lbs total in Week 1 and DH lost 9lbs! This is pretty spectacular for me -- I've been on every diet under the sun and never ever lost any more than about 3lbs, even in Week 1. So definitely continuing in the same vein this week, although of course I know it's mostly water weight in Week 1.

girljulian · 28/11/2022 15:28

3lbs/week, I mean, obviously!
