3 stone in 3 months?

chalkyc2 · 11/11/2022 11:53

I find myself needing to do this (well - the first 3 stone is merely the tip of the iceberg but anyway). I've been rubbish and following weight loss success then gall bladder surgery I appear to have put on around 2 stone in 6 months. Which is shocking and disgusting but anyway, here I am.

Previous success was with the fast 800. It is brutal - but works. With exercise. Im trying to get myself in the mindset!

Anyone fancy joining me and coming along for the ride? Ultimately I need to lose 40kg (6 stone ish). Im so unhappy about my size it consumes every waking thought - but not so much it seems that it stops me eating chocolate every evening....

This is getting very tedious now, I weighed myself and I’m the same as last Sunday - I tell a lie I have lost another 4 ounces, 4 measly ounces! I have lost 3 lbs in 13 days and it’s slow going. Tonight I have a meal out that includes 3 courses. I never eat three courses even when I’m not dieting. I’ll avoid weighing myself again til the weekend in case the scales make me go back to normal temporarily.

I hope everyone else is doing better!

CalculatingSuccess · 01/12/2022 11:19

Oh stealth! Which week are you on? Week 1 is meant to be amazing and then it plateau’s for a week or so. Have you had any non-scale victories? I managed to zip my winter coat up yesterday; my next one will be being able to bend over/sit down in it zipped up 😂.

I had a meal out last night with a friend, and it was glorious!! I know I shouldn’t say that, but I savoured every mouthful and finished off with biscuits!! I have lost 11lbs in 8 days, it has shocked me a bit to be honest!! I’m sure I will plateau next week, especially because I ate so much last night, but I feel so much better than I did.

I wish I could give you a hug over the Internet.

stealthninjamum · 01/12/2022 12:09

calculating I started the diet before my first weigh in because I wanted to be in the ‘zone’ before I got the bad news so it’s possible I lost 3 or 4lbs before I weighed myself. So since I weighed myself 13 days ago I’m down 3lbs.

Maybe it’s a hormonal / menopausal thing so obviously I’m going to keep going.

No non scale victories yet but Friday is the day I wear my skirt that doesn’t do up so hopefully in 2 or 3 Fridays it will do up!

CalculatingSuccess · 01/12/2022 13:51

Oh Stealth, how amazing will it feel if it does do up!! I dare not try my jeans, I think I’m a long way off them yet, but am measuring myself in cm’s instead of inches because they are smaller increments, so I see more of a difference.

I hope the skirt does fit, I’m rooting for you! Xx

Witchymcwitch · 02/12/2022 10:14

This weeks weigh in I’ve lost 3lb so 9lb in total and now reached my first goal of under 15st.
Second goal is another 6lb and I’ll be out of the obese BMI.

Witchymcwitch · 02/12/2022 22:46

Where’s everyone gone?
No more Friday weigh ins to report? You can’t all have given up?

girljulian · 02/12/2022 22:51

I haven’t given up Witchy but I started on a Monday so I weigh on Mondays. So nothing to report, trucking on!

girljulian · 02/12/2022 22:52

Good job on your 3lbs!

CalculatingSuccess · 03/12/2022 10:17

Aaah, I’m here!! I’ve lost 11lbs!!!!!! I am absolutely mind blown!! Spoilt it last night but back on it again this morning. I hope everyone is ok! Xxx

chalkyc2 · 03/12/2022 14:43

Not doing well have not lost anything this week!! I haven't really lapsed and haven't had anything sweet/sugar - but have had some lunchtime sandwiches and pasta once in the evening. So short of time I've been grabbing lunch on trains and things and no exercise.

Feeling a bit deflated as I've certainly not fallen off the wagon! Hey ho. Keep going.

Bemyclementine · 03/12/2022 22:10

I posted earlier in the thread. I can't even say I'm struggling, I'm.not even trying tbh but so miserable gaining weight. I need to give myself a good kick up the bum!

Well done @CalculatingSuccess that's amazing!

stealthninjamum · 04/12/2022 17:55

Thanks calculating success as predicted my skirt still doesn’t do up. It zips up but the button at the top won’t do up so every Friday I wear it with a long jumper over it. Hopefully I’ll be able to wear it with a T-shirt tucked under soon.

Well done for weightlosses witchy and calculating. (apologies if I’ve missed someone out).

I have fallen off the wagon a bit although I’m probably still under 1200 cals a day, I’m just eating crap. Yesterday I was too busy to eat til three so I had noodles, a cappuccino, yogurt and cake. Today I’ve just had my usual overnight oats for breakfast, a bagel and dinner might be fishfingers with dc. I didn’t log on myfitness pal for three days so I’m about to do it for today because I put on weight when I’m not logging.

I didn’t weigh Friday because Thursday was a Christmas meal. I’ll try tomorrow if I get time.

good luck tomorrow girljulian

bemyclementine it’s great you’re still here. Do you want to talk to us about anything? I always find in real life I don’t really moan about my life or weight but i find these threads be really helpful. If there’s something stopping you dieting then I’m sure we can relate to it and help you.

Daftmum47 · 04/12/2022 18:03

Can I jump in here?
maybe lose 2 stone in 2 months?
I’m 47, perimenopausal, 14st2lbs, and 5’4”
I think my downfall (apart from all the eating) is that I drink 1/2 of wine per day.
Weight gain, being out of condition and perhaps a touch of long Covid (chest tightness) mean that I’ve hardly done any cardio (or exercise, in fact) in ages… :-/

Alertthecorgis · 04/12/2022 18:03

I’ve been doing terribly. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. The only good thing I’ve been doing is 10,000 steps a day. Other than that my food in take has been up and down. I know I need to get in gear and sort myself out as I’m miserable. I’ve been trying the Cambridge diet but off and on and I think a lack of consistency is affecting my weight. I’m bigger than when I started and I’m starting to think long term it’s not sustainable.

Daftmum47 · 04/12/2022 18:06

I’ve never really taken to any particular diet, but I’m wondering if I should just have vegetable soup every single night for dinner, when I’m not going out (which is never).

So, strategy:
walk 8 miles per day when wee one is at school
soup for dinner every night
cut down booze

stealthninjamum · 06/12/2022 09:35

daftmum47 that sounds like a good plan. I make quite a lot of soup.

The only thing I’d say is if you aren’t calorie counting or doing a more rigid diet you might want to weigh your food or learn about their ingredients. For years I’d make a ‘healthy’ salad with a few spoonfuls of olive oil to the extent it would have higher calories than a meet and two veg type of meal and a ‘portion’ of pasta was huge. I started to weigh them to see what was a more reasonable size and now I can see what a good portion is without weighing.

Anyway I weighed myself and I am still 183lbs! It could be worse, I ate out on Thursday and last night I had a large bowl of cereal out of boredom. Think that’s the first time I’ve done that since I started this diet so I need to not get back into bad habits. I think I may need to start a ‘lose 3 stone in a year’ thread! I am determined to do it - no matter how long it takes.

chalkyc2 · 27/12/2022 09:16

Hey all - catching up with this thread I started somewhat shamefully....I have not done well. I had 2 good weeks...and then (excuses excuses). I need to drastically change my lifestyle and mindset - but I just seem to have no willpower. I have these moments when I look round a train carriage, or a meeting, or even the office party - and there's me the fattest in the room - and I just feel so ashamed and humiliated.

Anyway! I'm just going to have to try again. But that snowboard kit ain't gonna fit 😢😢

endlesscraziness · 27/12/2022 10:34

I'm just going to repost what I said at the beginning of this thread:

You'd be much better looking at a sustainable fat loss than a fast fix. All you'll do is be miserable and end up in an over restrict binge cycle. Fast 800 obviously didn't work as you're now back on it. Weight loss / diet success is maintaining the weight loss for a year after you've lost it. There's no fast fix. Consistency and work is what it takes. Average 1800 cals a day over a week, (no crazy lows, max 1600 cals lowest), 10k steps, 100g protein min per day, real food and get strength training for health 3x a week.

By attempting a fast fix you're setting yourself up to fail. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Get out of your binge restrict cycle

Witchymcwitch · 27/12/2022 11:21

Actually Fast 800 did work for me and I kept the weight off for 2yrs.
The reason it went back on was due to overeating after a traumatic event and during the grief that followed. Then a major op that restricted my activity for a good 4-6 months.

The way that the Fast 800 worked quickly really kept me motivated to keep going.

chalkyc2 · 27/12/2022 11:25

Me too @Witchymcwitch - and similar re lapsing afterwards.

Been in the peloton this morning!

Hoping it's ok to join. @chalkyc2 you'll definitely be fitter for skiing and that's worth doing. It is hard, it just is. We have to take it a day at a time.

Today I've got 22kg to lose to get to a healthy BMI. Frustrating as a brief three years ago I was 16kg lighter and doing really well.. Most of it went on this year for lots of reasons, none of them good reasons!

I do myfitnesspal as I find it better to eat normal tasty meals in small portions. It's too generous with calories for exercise but it definitely makes a difference if I heave my enormous backside off the sofa.

Had trouble getting my coat on this morning. Fed up with it.

CalculatingSuccess · 27/12/2022 19:10

Hi everyone! I had a week off my fast 800 for Christmas and gained 2lbs. I can cope with that. I’m back on it again from tomorrow, and so far have dropped from 93kgs to 86kgs. Hopefully I’ll see some really good losses in the New Year and this will be the last Christmas I’m this size. Fingers crossed!! Xx

chalkyc2 · 02/01/2023 12:12

Starting back cautiously today! I've weighed myself (actually still 2.5kg down from the November false start - so that's something!). Been on the peloton. 6 weeks until skiing! I have an ambitious goal of trying to lose a stone. We will see.

I'll update on Fridays as we previously agreed. Short week this week. Would love anyone still here to join back!

OP posts:
CalculatingSuccess · 02/01/2023 12:21

Hi @chalkyc2 !! I had my post Christmas weigh yesterday and I have stayed the same over Christmas which is wonderful!!! I know everyone wants to burn them with fire but I can honestly say the 800 cal will probably budge a stone in 6 weeks. I’m down from 93 to 86kgs in 3 weeks as I took Christmas and it’s run up off completely, so haven’t lost anything for 2 ish plus weeks. It is definitely doable and you really notice the difference around the waistline xxx

NeedAHoliday2021 · 02/01/2023 12:23

I planned to be slim for my 40th and lost weight, loved my body in 2018-19… then covid. I struggled in 2020 and put on a bit but not too hideous… hit 40 in March 22 and spent the rest of the year comfort eating. 2023 is the year I get fit and lose the 2stone I put on. I start today and I’m currently dressing for a run. Despite weight gain I can run 5k (not fast but I’ve never been fast).
