3 stone in 3 months?

chalkyc2 · 11/11/2022 11:53

I find myself needing to do this (well - the first 3 stone is merely the tip of the iceberg but anyway). I've been rubbish and following weight loss success then gall bladder surgery I appear to have put on around 2 stone in 6 months. Which is shocking and disgusting but anyway, here I am.

Previous success was with the fast 800. It is brutal - but works. With exercise. Im trying to get myself in the mindset!

Anyone fancy joining me and coming along for the ride? Ultimately I need to lose 40kg (6 stone ish). Im so unhappy about my size it consumes every waking thought - but not so much it seems that it stops me eating chocolate every evening....

You've posted this 4 times! Ask HQ to remove 3 of them. Then the replies will at least all ne on 1 thread. I have 3 stone to lose.

3.5 stone to lose here!
Its crept up on me. I was always skinny in 20s/30s, then put on a bit post kids, but nothing major, then 40s it crept up quicker and now early 50s and I’m obese!
I’m drinking loads of water, cutting out sugar, bread, pasta, rice and upping my activity.
Lost 2lb so far this week…

chalkyc2 · 11/11/2022 12:18

Well done @Witchymcwitch !

Indeed the older I get (49) it doesn't creep up any more it piles on!!

The slight need for a 3 month deadline is that I'm going skiing in 3 months and I need to lose 3 stone to fit in my ski stuff. I cannot buy new (and actually most ski stuff is tiny and non stretchy and generally horrible to buy)

So. Have been on the peloton this morning and yes, water, water. The plan is loosely based on fast 800 I think - smoothie for breakfast then protein-y salad meals. No sugar. No bread.

Ugh!

Bemyclementine · 11/11/2022 12:28

I was just about to ask what your plan was . I'm currently failing miserably at losing weight and have actually gained a few lbs.

I have an event at the end of Jan that I'd LOVE to be 3 st lighter for.

Endofdaysarehere · 11/11/2022 13:16

I’ve lost three stone over the last three months but still have another two to go.
It’s been brutal. Lots and lots of spin and coffee.

HarvestThyme · 11/11/2022 13:18

OP, a stone a month, especially over Christmas, seems like an inhuman goal. And maybe a little cruel to yourself. Half a stone/month is a way more reasonable goal. Honestly, if you are a stone lighter 3 months from now, that's brilliant and something to celebrate!

I think you need to remove the urgency by getting hold of some ski clothing that fits now. Borrow from friends or family or look for used or rental.

Maybe aim to lose a stone or a stone and a half by the holiday.

Start another thread about sourcing cheap or free skiwear in the right size.

Maybe you can do it - and good for you - but I just don't want you to get discouraged or feel like you've failed. When really losing far less would be a major achievement.

NewMeforthemillionthtime · 11/11/2022 13:30

I need to lose 6 stone too as as you can tell from my username, this is not my first attempt. Saying that,I did have a fry up this morning and then half a packet of chocolate digestives 2 hours later so I won't hold my breath. Tbf I have been working on a particularly boring subject today at work so needed the fix.

Bemyclementine · 11/11/2022 14:23

@Endofdaysarehere care to share any other tips?? I really really need a kick start. I can't do spin (used to, hated it but it worked) or any other classes as I'm either at work or have the DC (single parent) but I coukd do weights at home and do 13k steps.

Just need to get a handle on the eating.

Witchymcwitch · 11/11/2022 16:11

Should we have a day of the week that we log in with our weight loss for the week?
Every Friday?

chalkyc2 · 11/11/2022 16:24

Friday sounds good. Week from now. I know what I weigh as of this morning (😭😭)

I still have my fast 800 online account going. It's hard work that's for sure and last time I did it was in lockdown so was at home and able to cook.

I understand I might not be able to get anywhere near 3 stone in 3 months - I just have to try though as otherwise I'll just put it off. This should never have happened but there we go!

Thank you for the thread! I also have 6 stone to lose but I haven’t given myself a time limit as I don’t want to be restricted. I put on a lot of weight during the pandemic and then had two kids within 11 months so I have a 7 month old and an 18 month old. I put on A LOT of weight during both pregnancies.

I’m a huge comfort eater and I also binge eat too. I’ve been going to the gym three times a week for the past two months and I’m walking as much as I can every day. It’s only within the last week have I seriously tried to fix my eating issues. I could eat a 6 pack of crisps and a whole pack of digestive’s in one day, it’s that bad! Slowly trying to learn a lifetime worth of unhealthy eating habits but I’ll get there. Thanks for the thread and I hope we all reach our goal!

(I won’t do the weekly weigh in as I only weigh myself every four weeks!)

abbey44 · 11/11/2022 22:47

An I join you all please? I’ve been doing low-carb/Fast 800 (loosely) since July and have lost 18kg so far (no idea what that is in stones). It was all going so well, the chart on MyFitnessPal was heading downwards really nicely but I’ve sort of ground to a halt and haven’t lost anything at all over the last month. I still have 20kg to lose, I’m still doing the same as I have been, but this plateau is really frustrating. I could do with some moral support or ideas to kick-start the next stage…

FatGirlSwim · 11/11/2022 22:59

Can I join please? Six stone to lose. Lost four stone last year, regained two. I’d like to lose the two stone by Christmas.

ilovemaxibons · 11/11/2022 23:08

I have about 5st to lose, just struggling with motivation to get started and then keeping going!

Selok · 11/11/2022 23:16

Can I join please? Started SW with a great excitement, didn't last too long decided it is not for me. Opened my good old lose it app to track my food. I am 48 and I need to lose 4st

Witchymcwitch · 12/11/2022 08:43

Yes I’m doing my fitness pal and fast 800 principles. 15k steps + (must charge and put my Fitbit back on)

@abbey44 Plateaus are frustrating, but I think completely normal when you’re losing a lot. Most advice seems to be to keep going and it’ll start to come off again.
Maybe more resistant training with weights to build muscle mass?

Whiterose23 · 12/11/2022 09:43

Can I join please? I’m also skiing in three months and my clothes don’t fit plus I’m worried about being able to keep up with my children. I need to lose 2.5 stone - 3 stone.
I’ve done one week of low carb, weighed this morning and lost 5lbs but know I’ll struggle over the weekend.

That's a good idea - I currently walk my dog as my exercise routine (although a bit hampered at the moment by a sprained ankle and stitched elbow...) but maybe weights as an addition might be the kick-start that I need. I've had plateaus before and I know that eventually things will happen, but it is frustrating. I guess your body sometimes needs time to adjust to things though.

chalkyc2 · 12/11/2022 12:29

5lb is great @Whiterose23 !

I might join a gym. Everyone in my family gets ferried (mostly by me) to numerous sports events and I need some time for me. It's not an excuse but when you put everyone else first it's kind of not surprising that when you look at yourself you don't like what you see!

I'm buoyed by the support and feeling like I'm not alone. I work in an office of slim gorgeous people - god knows what they think of me!

I would love to join. 4 stone to lose. No time limit… as setting them always sends me straight to the biscuit tin! Currently having PTSD therapy for childhood trauma, which is dealing with the underlying causes that had me overeating and many physical ailments in first place. I’ve got back running alongside dog walking and joined a CrossFit gym which is getting me stronger (slowly - I have a long way to go but set myself the target of being able to do a proper press-up. Never been able to do one in my life so I know if will be more like years rather than months before I’ll do it but I can see some initial progress already). However I’ve not lost any weight at all since starting to get fitter so I need to work on the food side now. I lost all the post baby weight before so I know how to do it in a way that works for me… just have to get over the fact I’m annoyed I’m having to do it again!

chalkyc2 · 12/11/2022 12:55

Oh I know I'm so annoyed - I'm 15kg heavier than this time last year. So useless!

I cannot blame it on anything other than loving food....

I’ve got at least 6 stone to lose. I’m ashamed and embarrassed and it’s stopping me doing so much. I’m also worried that I’ll go on to have health issues and I’m a carer to my two disabled children.
