3 stone in 3 months?

chalkyc2 · 11/11/2022 11:53

I find myself needing to do this (well - the first 3 stone is merely the tip of the iceberg but anyway). I've been rubbish and following weight loss success then gall bladder surgery I appear to have put on around 2 stone in 6 months. Which is shocking and disgusting but anyway, here I am.

Previous success was with the fast 800. It is brutal - but works. With exercise. Im trying to get myself in the mindset!

Anyone fancy joining me and coming along for the ride? Ultimately I need to lose 40kg (6 stone ish). Im so unhappy about my size it consumes every waking thought - but not so much it seems that it stops me eating chocolate every evening....

@Alertthecorgis I know - me too. Actually to have a normal bmi I need to probably lose about 8 stone. A whole normal sized person! But I hear you - I looked at my ankles yesterday and it's kind of like they've disappeared. Shocking.

Just off the peloton. My husband has suggested take away to the kids tonight.....😬

I’ve got at least 6 stone to lose. I’m ashamed and embarrassed and it’s stopping me doing so much. I’m also worried that I’ll go on to have health issues and I’m a carer to my two disabled children.

Don’t feel ashamed and embarrassed, that’s counter-productive. You’ve made the decision to do something about it, and that’s the hardest step to take.

When I’ve done this before (and I’m kicking myself that I’m having to do it again!) it helps me to take all the judgement out of it and it becomes a logistical task to deal with, so for me it’s going by kilos instead of stones. The number of stones I start at always horrifies me and I find that gets in the way. So I look up what my goal is in kilos, and work out how many I want to lose (when I started this stint I the summer my goal was to lose 35kg, which coincidentally is the same weight as my dog - I can’t lift her, so no wonder I was feeling exhausted all the time Grin). Because I can’t visualise kilos as easily, it takes all the emotion out of it, and when you see half a kilo down on the scales it feels like a real achievement.

It might sound mad, but it works for me - it gets my mind in the right frame, which I think is really important. We’re all different though - what works for you…?

FatGirlSwim · 12/11/2022 19:38

What are the fast 800 principles? I get the 800 calories but no experience of the eating within restricted hours? Do I just go 16 hours without eating and then eat within the 8 hour window?

today I managed to wait the 16 hours before having a small meal with hardly any carbs.
then had a baileys 🤦‍♀️
but that’s it for the day. And took the dog for a walk.

FatGirlSwim · 12/11/2022 19:39

That is a good tip.i might switch to kilos.

IAmAReader · 12/11/2022 22:26

I’m in! Currently 11stone 10 which is 2 stone overweight but would love to lose 3 stone. I was 11 stone going into the pandemic then put on two stone, one of which I’ve subsequently lost.

For me it’s been a combination of emotional /comfort eating, and inactivity during the early part of the pandemic. I got into a good gym regime earlier this year but then post Covid symptoms made me pause the gym for this month. For the meantime I’ve cut down on processed foods & sweets try to do a half hour brisk walk every day.

Starting Monday I’ll be using up the rest of my Cambridge diet & exante shakes and trying to limit myself to OMAD over the next 2 weeks. Then I’ll be looking into other ways to achieve calorie deficit including hopefully returning to gym.

Readytostartagain · 13/11/2022 07:57

Can I join 3 stone to lose and put on half a stone in the last couple of months with mindless snacking. Can’t do anything too restrictive as I know I will end up bingeing but need to cut down and eliminate the biscuits

chalkyc2 · 14/11/2022 08:34

Ok guys. Monday morning. Fresh start!

Had a pretty good weekend - peloton and jog and no chocolate! Now to try and get through being at work - I find it much easier at home.

stealthninjamum · 14/11/2022 08:36

Op can I join you?

im sure I have about 3 stone to lose. Before lockdown I was a size 8 and now I’m bursting out of my clothes.

previously I lost about 5 stone on mfp so I think I’ll do that again

Witchymcwitch · 14/11/2022 10:16

Morning all,
So not a great weekend here….I had a friends Hen party, which inevitably involved meals out alcohol etc.
I was as restrained as possible, no bread, or puddings and didn’t go mad with the drink but I’ve still managed to put on the 4lb I lost last week in 2 days! (How is that even possible?)

So back to square one and ultra strict now, we’ll see if I can get back on track.

stealthninjamum · 14/11/2022 13:03

witchy it sounds like you did an amazing job of being controlled. Are you weighing every day? I found that when I used to weigh every day my weight randomly went up or down irrespective of my previous day but the long term trend was good. I’m sure by tomorrow or Wednesday the weight will have gone again.

I think I’m overweight now because I’m a single mum of dc with Sen and I’m pretty bored and fed up. I say I’m ‘too busy’ to look after myself but that isn’t really true. Having said that cooking a separate meal from dc with food issues can be time consuming so my focus needs to be on very quick meals for me.

So I have just made 5 batches of overnight oats - recipe 200g oats, 200g milk, 90g fruit yogurt. Each portion has 251 calories. My aim is every Monday to make 5 portions to freeze. Then I’ll get them out of the freezer the night before. I’ll experiment with adding different fruits / cinnamon / almond flakes / seeds as I go.

lunch will be soup of leftover veg - probably courgettes.

FatGirlSwim · 14/11/2022 13:49

stealthninjamum I’m also a single mum of dc with SEN, it’s hard isn’t it finding the resources for yourself? Not so much time but sometimes food is the only ‘treat’ or pleasure you get!

I’ve always struggled with weight though.

witchy it could be fluid and glycogen, unlikely to be true weight, and it sounds like you did really well. It’s demoralising though when the scales go up I know.

Been for a jog, sticking to the 8 hour window of eating. Finding 800 cals hard to stick to bit feeling positive atm.

made a huge pan of vegetable soup for later.

stealthninjamum · 15/11/2022 11:52

fatgirlswim you’re right. I don’t work and in theory have loads of time but both dc have mental health problems and anxiety so I am not motivated to do anything for me. I’m shattered all the time. I tend to eat their leftovers, rather than cook me a healthy meal, and have got in a habit of having large portions of cereal before bed.

Anyway I have had my breakfast oats and coffee and I’m still full up. Lunch will be soup and toast and fruit.

I’ll weigh in every Friday. I’m not going to do it yet - if the result is too horrendous it might demotivate me whereas if I have had four good days I’ll feel more positive and able to carry on.

chalkyc2 · 16/11/2022 22:53

Hey. Hanging in there here. But my god I hate dieting/eating like this. But I also hate being fat...so I suppose you have to call which you hate more! I don't know if it's possible to ever completely change how you think about food - is it? To me it's a joy and a treat and the focus of socialising and everything. I feel sad when I think about Christmas because Christmas is mince pies and chocolate Lindt advent calendars and...well..food! Maybe thin people just don't think about food all the time and that's the difference?! But I also think about being fat all the time. It's all consuming!

Didn't make the peloton today - working and kids chauffeuring. So going to bed with tea.

Oh - I agree with a pp about thinking and working in kilos - I do I only translated to stones for the thread as most people do. But actually I need to lose an initial 20 kg. Then 20 more. Then 10. And then I might actually have a healthy bmi.

Whiterose23 · 17/11/2022 12:12

chalkyc2 I know what you mean about hating eating like this but also hate being overweight.
I slipped up yesterday and ate a mince pie, I didn’t even enjoy it and definitely not worth the calories.

Witchymcwitch · 17/11/2022 13:31

Yep. I hate having to watch what I eat constantly.
When lost a couple of stone about 5yrs ago I remember allowing myself to plateau for a bit when I reached the new one stone lost mark.
So I’d weigh every day and just try and maintain it, not keep losing. Then once the scales seemed steady I’d push on to lose some more.
Maintaining is nowhere near as hard as losing several stone, but you do need to keep a close eye on the scales and cut back if even a pound creeps back on.

Witchymcwitch · 17/11/2022 13:40

I’m setting myself some small goals to make make it all a bit less of a long trudge.

1- Get below 15st! (5lb)
2- Get out of the obese BMI (12lb)

Then I’m setting the goals at each half stone mark.

stealthninjamum · 17/11/2022 15:07

chalkyc I hadn’t heard of your diet before, are you doing 800 non carbs? I’m not surprised it’s hard but it will be worth it.

On the occasion I lost weight before I found I just got in ‘the zone’ and after I’d lost the first dress size it was almost easy to stick to. I was largely maintaining it but I put loads on over covid and stopped going to the gym and have really struggled since.

Im now on day 4 and managed 1200 calories. I have bought more Tupperware as I’m finding my breakfast overnight oats filling - so tomorrow I’ll make some more. I’ll also weigh myself tomorrow. I know I won’t like the result but after four days I’ll hopefully keep up the momentum without binging at the horror of the scales.

Anyway today I am wearing a skirt I love but the button doesn’t quite do up. I’d like to be able to wear it New Years Eve without covering it up with a long jumper to hide the button that doesn’t do up!

chalkyc2 · 17/11/2022 19:03

Well officially yes 800 cal - but I have to say I'm not following it as tightly as maybe I should - if I have a cup of tea or a coffee I'm not going to worry too much - I'm following the principles but it needs to fit around life! Weigh in tomorrow so let's see - the first week usually is good and it slows after that.

See you in the morning....

OP posts:
Skala123 · 17/11/2022 19:05

Just a suggestion - it's best to weigh every day rather than once a week. Weight fluctuates so much that by only measuring it once a week you may not get a true picture of your weight loss.

Witchymcwitch · 17/11/2022 19:20

I’m weighing every day but we’re only reporting our Friday weigh ins on the thread. Otherwise it would get all full of random weights.

Witchymcwitch · 17/11/2022 19:21

I’ve done 2 x 24hr fasts this week, where I’ve only eaten an evening meal and just drunk water and the odd cup of tea all day.

Skala123 · 17/11/2022 20:12

CalculatingSuccess · 17/11/2022 21:59

Hello! Can I join? I’m also doing 800 cals (starting tomorrow). I was put onto medication that helped me to go from 63 to 90kgs in less than 12 months, and I feel horrendous. I have been swapped onto new medication now, but one of the main side effects is …. Weight gain! And my loose trousers on the old medication are now snug, so I must still be going up. I’ve ordered some weighing scales and am going to walk for an hour a day each day from tomorrow too. I don’t care how long it takes me to lose the full amount, I just need to see some form of results to start with as am in a self loathing spiral and so need something to keep a positive mindset.

Thank you all for being in the same boat, I felt so alone.

Weightlossj · 18/11/2022 00:41

Hi. Can I join?

This post is exactly what I need. Would like to lose two stone by three months, I am just on YouTube and doing intermission fasting.

Is Peleton good for weight loss?

chalkyc2 · 18/11/2022 07:29

Ok. Here we go.

Week 1

-3.6kg/8lb

First week always good figures!

I do also weigh most mornings, but the weekly numbers are a good tracker.

12 weeks until I go skiing!
