Hairpray a whole punnet of cherry tomatoes? Grin I first misread that a cherries which made sense, but I can honestly say I've never felt compelled to eat more than a couple of solo cherry tomatoes!

I don't know how you do this Golden-On-Weekends thing every week. I'm on my second Golden Weekend in living history and it's so boring Blush I'm OK during the day as I can forget it's a weekend but last night there was a gremlin in my head screaming "IT'S FRIDAY NIGHT AND YOU'RE EATING PRAWNS AND COTTAGE CHEESE AND DRINKING TONIC WATER. WTF."

lastqueenofscotland · 29/07/2017 15:22

I'm at my PILs this weekend and food is a disaster. Back Monday night...

I just can't say no Angry

HairsprayBabe · 29/07/2017 15:54

I am NEVER usually golden at the weekend, but I was last weekend to compensate for cardiff, and we go away on Thursday next week so I am getting in every diet day I can before then! It is dull dull dull!

Haha no I didn't think you meant that at all Quim I do refer to the "old me" as moon face a lot, my head just looked so big!

Have just got some last min bits for holiday, I may have something of a shopping addicition developing! It is so hard to say no when everything fits!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 29/07/2017 15:56

The holiday in Cardiff sounds amazing Hairspray!

Boop a 1lb gain after a holiday in Spain (ha, that rhymed) is brilliant going!

Last maybe just decide to relax this weekend and start again on Monday? When you are staying with people you can't really diet properly without being a bit antisocial, don't beat yourself up about it.

I weighed in yesterday and have managed to get another lb of my 6lb gain off, so only 3 to go until I am back at my lowest weigh so far. Unfortunately next week I have a couple of social events, one of which is on Thursday, which is usually a fast day for me. I thought about changing to Wednesday but that's when my bodypump class is, and I do want to go to that because there aren't many classes which are at good times for me at the moment (several of the instructors are on holiday so there's a summer timetable atm). Has anyone tried exercising on a fast day?

BitOutOfPractice · 29/07/2017 17:38

Well I don't know how but after just one golden day the gym scales showed me 4.5lbs down since yesterday morning. WTAF?

Do now I'm a mere 5lbs above my lowest ever. Aiming lose that in a fortnight. Which is ridiculously optimistic but it's good to have goals right? I'm being golden so far today and been to the gym but out for dinner tonight. Don't be able to drink though as I'm picking my daughter up from a festival to save her another freezing and wet night's campaign. She was pretty fed up yesterday poor thing

OP posts:
SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 29/07/2017 18:44

That's amazing Boop! It must have just been water weight. Also your poor daughter, I don't know where you are but it is categorically not camping weather here. Still, I guess a soggy festival is a rite of passage!

poorpaws · 29/07/2017 21:52

Lots of rain = lots of eating. I hate wet days and always overeat on them. If it had been a sunny day today I would have been in the garden felling trees with no time to eat. Come out sunshine and save me from a gain this week.

HairsprayBabe · 30/07/2017 07:42

I know what you mean paws I am much better when I am not stuck in the house, it is just too easy to open the fridge and nibble!
10.6 again wahhhh nother golden day on the cards for me again, I came in at about 1200 yesterday, will attempt for about 1000 today.

ponygirlcurtis · 30/07/2017 08:11

Morning all - nice to see you back BOOP, sounds like you had a great time, you are a total legend getting back on it like a car bonnet (totally stealing that!) in such spectacular fashion!

Aaaah Quim that holiday sounds idyllic. I had a couple of childhood holidays in France and I do remember my parents being very overexcited about the cheese and wine from the hypermarché! 😆

Hairspray had a wee peak at your insta, your pics are great, really love the vintagey feel. I also love how so many are pictures of food and drink, I am hungry now! Grin And I agree you are looking fantastic, nearly 70lbs, wowsers. That is some amount of focus and effort on your part.

I am still bouncing around the same few lindas. Sigh. Might go for another fast day. And what is this fabled Fitbit challenge I hear of? Although my step count is only ever decent on gym days.

QuimReaper · 30/07/2017 12:11

BOOP Shock 4.5lbs overnight, I've never even heard of a whoosh that dramatic! So you're lighter now than before you went to Spain? That's astonishing! If you subscribe to the water-occupying-fat-cells theory, stands to reason you were losing fat the whole time, including in Spain, and it's only just "emptied".

I'm subscribing to that theory because I got up to pee about four times last night and am deciding to believe it signalled an impending "whoosh".

Hairspray ah, I remember now, you're like me on the two-steps-forward-one-step-back method of weight loss, aren't you? There's someone here who's always having virtuous weekends, who is it? The only good thing about being on a planned Golden Stint is that my temptations manifest as idle cravings / frustrations rather than real dangerous urges. When I'm bobbing around being Generally Good I can pretty easily crack, but when I've actually diarised a stint and planned when it'll end, it's more of a desolate WHY AM I DOING THIS than a real wrestle to crack into some wine or chocolate. Goes to show how very psychological the whole thing is.

NikiBabe · 30/07/2017 20:51

My weight is static now at 10.2 to 10.3.

I have some NSVs: I bought some body con dresses in the sale. Well 2 not some. I actually look half decent.

poorpaws · 30/07/2017 22:27

I'm sure you look beautiful Niki not just half decent. Be kinder to yourself.

NikiBabe · 30/07/2017 22:51

aw thanks poorpaws my mum said I looked fabulous in my new dress so I ordered another in a different colour.

HairsprayBabe · 31/07/2017 08:22

10.6 again, happy with that as did some low carb baking yesterday, it didn't really work crumbled apart and couldn't really be kept but tasted good. So I just ate the whole thing with DP... sensible Hmm

Right, fast day today, just had a bulletproof coffee and that will be it till dinnertime when we are having vegetable frittata, very hard to diet when trying to use up the contents of the fridge before holiday!

ponygirlcurtis · 31/07/2017 09:46

Glad your mum said nice things about how you looked in your dress Niki.

Good going Hairspray. I did another fast day yesterday, still more like 650 than 500 calories. Still no movement on the scales. I have been doing some reading around body types - I am an endomorph, the group that finds it most difficult to lose weight. Not sure whether knowing that gives me comfort that it's not just that I am not doing it right, or dispiriting that it's going to be a real struggle to shed this last 10lbs.

TVHubbyClaire · 31/07/2017 09:48

After a very bad weekend of far too much beer and peanuts and a day spent on sofa yesterday I was a bit worried this morning

Still 12st 7 which is amazing based on how unhealthy I have been since friday night, expect that will increase today as normality returns.

Had to have a bagel this morning but will try to have very little under dinner, a few 100cal things and some fruit for rest of work day

fast days do sound scary but I may try it after hols, maybe fast for most of work day and then DW usually does a fairly healthy dinner anyway so might get somewhere close to a sub 1000cal day without having to use the fast word at home ( she will wonder where the hell i got the idea...)

Your weekend away sounds fantastic hairspray. We leave on Saturday and talked yesterday about trying not to overdo it on the wine front when away. We have had too many booze based weekends recently.

Also have a 10k to do the week after we get back so thinking of taking running shoes in suitcase and actually getting some runs in before breakfast...Hmm

Quim - no broken record problems for me, its actually very helpful to have a reminder of initial goals and problems I think

QuimReaper · 31/07/2017 12:22

Morning all!

Question for BSDers / low-carbers (so mainly Hairspray!) - this morning, Day 7 of my Golden Stint (basically staying in a pretty hefty calorie deficit and not eating any carbs) I quite literally couldn't wake up - I felt like I was in a coma! It could have been that the dog woke me at the rack of dawn asking to go out, then I went back to sleep once he was back in, which can sometimes throw things out of whack, but I wondered if anyone'd ever experienced anything like that? I've had Fasting Insomnia before leading to trouble waking up, but I slept like a log last night, just carried on into the morning too Confused

Niki glad to hear your mum's being a bit less difficult

TV do take those running shoes, and be sure to let us know how many runs you manage Wink Grin

Four more Golden Days to go. I'm pretty pleased with last week's stepping: my best ever weekly step count was a smidge under 100,000 (which I remember clearly because I was cross with myself for not marching on the spot for 10 mins or so on Sunday evening just to get that count up!) and that was really because I'd made a concerted effort during the week and then we'd gone to a wedding, so there was loads of train travel and faffing and dancing, counteracted by thirty thousand units of wine. This week (for those of you who aren't on the FitBit groups) I won BOTH the Weekday and the Weekend challenges (I've never even come second before) and got a whopping 128,491 steps over the seven days Grin Grin Grin

QuimReaper · 31/07/2017 12:23

AND I survived a Dry Weekend for the second time in living memory Blush

QuimReaper · 31/07/2017 12:26

Hairspray I do admire your fasting skills. Even when I do a broth fast I have to have at least a couple of boiled eggs in the day to stop me from collapsing / crying / murdering someone. Evenings are often easier for some reason.

TVHubbyClaire · 31/07/2017 13:18

quim thats a lot of steps, well done you!! Did you wear out a pair of shoes? How do you get to average 15k steps a day? Do you plan to go for specific walks every day or do you have a more active work life

My step counter most days doesnt get above 5,000 because I sit on my ass all day in meetings and at my pc. I am hoping for a better average when on holiday as well as a few runs....best laid plans and all that

Stellar67 · 31/07/2017 13:31

Hairspray love your pics. You gorgeous thing.

Well done BOOP!

Agree regarding the weather. I always eat stodge when it's poor weather. Missing you on the steps Paws.

Quim I don't do virtuous weekends either. It's my total fail. Although I am considering starting this weekend. In fact my August mantra is water.

Glad you got a couple of dresses Niki. I bet you look cracking.

Hang in there lasty.

How often do you fast pony and Tv?

Spurious I've exercised on a fast day before. I figure I have plenty residual fat to cope Grin. Joe Wicks has good post workout food ideas.

Right I'm off to drink more water. Think I'll be on the loo a lot today Grin

Stellar67 · 31/07/2017 13:43

Oh, I meant to ask you all. Could you give me all your lovely healthy dinner ideas? I'm in a food rut as I'm only cooking for myself.

ponygirlcurtis · 31/07/2017 14:33

Wowsers Quim! How does one go about joining the Fitbit group not that I have a hope in hell of winning anything?

Stellar I have only just resumed 5:2 fasting last week, did Thursday and yesterday. I did it reasonably successfully a few years ago so I knew I could do it, it's just putting my mind to it. 😊
I only cook for me too, I usually make enough to have on two nights so I can have a no-effort dinner one night.
Pulled pork in the slow cooker (which actually does 4/5 meals) and have that with spicy coleslaw - both recipes from Slimming World. (plenty of coleslaw left to have on other nights with a steak or salmon fillet or chicken)
Hairy Bikers beef stroganoff and I add in loads of extra veg.
Joe Wicks' turkey moussaka - I sometimes make it with pork or lamb mince as well.
Tonight I am making a curry I think - coconut milk, chicken, loads of veg and Thai paste.

Stellar67 · 31/07/2017 14:39

Have you got a Fitbit pony?

I'm always at the bottom Blush

Lovely recipes! Thank you. I have gone through a couple of cookbooks today.

TVHubbyClaire · 31/07/2017 15:06

I havent done any fast days yet stellar although today feels like I must be close to one....

bagel with cream cheese - I don't know how many cals...
cup a soup - 65cal
oven baked crisps - 109cal
Activia yogurt - 100cal (must be able to do better here)
banana - 90cals?
small pot of fruit ?

feeling pretty hungry and fighting urge to open a 108 cal bag of cadbury mini fingers
