You'd think she would have used one of her three children... or her DH (who she is in the huff with a lot lol) or even her two grandchildren! But no, the cat was all she could think of.

and yes I'm serious! I have to get my kicks where I can these days

Tillyboo · 20/05/2007 20:34

Chicken pox is EVIL, EVIL, EVIL .....

I hate chicken pox !!!!!

My dd and me got no sleep last night and I'm so tired just don't feel like eating. Off to bed in a moment.
Hope tonight is much more settled

saggers · 21/05/2007 09:33

You poor thing, Tillyboo. I hope you managed to get some sleep last night, and that your dd starts to feel better soon.

hippipotami · 21/05/2007 11:31

Hi, I am here, am here

Thanks for thinking of me, and no, have definately NOT wasted away!

Have just come back from a long weekend in Dublin - it was FANTASTIC. We walked for miles and miles, but we ate loads, so am sure have put on weight.
Last week and a half have been a distaster on the dieting front - it was AF time so I have pigged out on chocolate. (and I really mean pigged out, whole packets of choccie biscuits and big bars of chocolate type pigging out ) Then we went to Dublin and all healthy eating went out of the window, so am sure I have put back the 6lbs I lost last month. sigh..

Will weigh myself tomorrow morning and get back on track.

Tilly, sorry to hear about your dd, what a nightmare few weeks you are having.
Suzi2, had to laugh about your mum and the cat.
Saggers - you are doing sooo well, am really of your weightloss and will power!!

saggers · 21/05/2007 21:30

hippipotomi - sounds as if you've been having fun! I find it virtually impossible not to overeat if I go away anywhere. Don't be hard on yourself - at least you enjoyed it! I've been eating loads this week. AF is due, so hope it's that - would normally have reached for chocolate, but I still haven't touched it since starting the Jason Vale book! I don't think I've ever gone so long without it, or at least without WANTING it. I'm still only halfway through the book. Can't seem to find time to read the rest, but almost don't need to! I hope I can get back on the system tomorrow, 'cause I tell I'm slipping a bit. (Not stopping when I'm full, and (god forgive me!) eating when I'm not hungry.
How's your dd Tillyboo?

saggers · 21/05/2007 21:31

Forgot the end of my brackets ) and missed a can out somewhere.

Tillyboo · 21/05/2007 22:22

Hi All, dd is much better today thanks. She has some really awful big blisters but I think she is over the worst of the itching and soreness.

She is covered, forehead, nose, lips, inside her ears, inside her mimi, all over her body and bum and all in her hair and back of her neck, even on the palms of her hand. Not so many on her legs and arms apart from the creases.

She's up in bed singing away and quite happy tonight, she's been an angel.

I haven't been able to listen to the CD for a while but feel quite pleased with myself in terms of sticking to the programme.
I'm not due to weigh myself for a while but soooo tempted to jump on the scales.

My tummy has def gone down but I bet I haven't lost any weight.

Hippipotomi - glad you had a good time in Dublin. I love Ireland and can't wait to go back. Don't worry about over eating, sounds like it would have been cancelled out by all the walking anyway.

Saggers - Who is Jason Vale ? Will have to have a look on the internet to see what it's all about.

Night, night all

mrsmalumbas · 22/05/2007 11:27

Hey all just saying hello, I got the book and CD off e-bay and it arrived this morning - have already skim read the book although I will be going back and doing the exercises in it. I also find it hard to think of someone who loves me unconditionally! Well, no maybe my DD. She tells me she loves my wibbly tummy and squashy boobs! I have a CD walkman and will be playing the CD in bed at night. I have studied hypnosis (am a HypnoBirthing instructor) and I do believe in it, and was also told that if you fall asleep it doesn't matter, the subconscious is still listening. Anyway, let's see - I know that eating because I am bored/fed up/angry etc is a major downfall for me, as is eating mindlessly - that trance that Paul talks about, oh yes, I can shovel it in all right. Anyway, onwards and upwards!

Tillyboo · 22/05/2007 13:20

Welcome MrsMalumbas - Let us know how you are getting on.
Good luck !

saggers · 22/05/2007 22:05

Hi mrsmalumbas - Hope you get off to a good start!
Glad your dd is a bit better, Tillyboo. It sounds as if she's being a star! You've done well to stick to it when you've not had much sleep. How long do you have to wait 'til you get weighed? Jason Vale is the author of a few books on healthy eating (kicking junk-food habits and juicing mainly I think). Someone recommended 'Chocolate Busters' and it's brilliant. It goes into detail about how chocolate has been advertised and marketed over the years. I thought I was aware of it all, but it has really opened my eyes!! I really can't imagine wanting to eat it again. It's almost a shame, because I used to LOVE it!!
AF came today, so that must explain my urge to eat this last few days. I ate loads today aswell. I'm just hoping that 1 1/2hours of walking and a yoga class will cancel it out.

hippipotami · 23/05/2007 10:36

Welcome Mrs Mumbalumbas - LOVE the name!

Well, I weighed myself this morning (exactly 3 weeks after last weigh-in) and have lost 5lbs!! So that is a total of 11lbs in the last 6 weeks, which is just under 2lbs a week, so I am very very happy.
The best thing is that I don't feel I am 'going without' as it were, I still eat what I want, but obviously less off it and less often, without really noticing!

As I am so large, the weightloss is not noticeable yet, but my clothes feel marginally looser, so I am pleased.

Must get hold of that Jason Vale chocolate book, as chocolate is my biggest downfall.

Keep going all, if it works for me, it will work for you!

hippipotami · 23/05/2007 10:37

Oops, it is MrsMalumbas - must learn to read properly

mrsmalumbas · 23/05/2007 13:57

Mumbalumbas, Malumbas, whatever, I answer to anything!

Listened to the CD last night, found it quite interesting although I am not sure about the two voices at once bits! Anyway when I ate my lunch today I did leave some on the plate - it's a start isn't it! The big nut for me to crack will be exercise, I just don't like it very much! However I do like the idea that this is not just another diet but about changing the way I relate to food.

My DH is slim, and when I think about it he does eat much more slowly than me, is not a nibbler, and will leave food if he is full. He gets annoyed when people say oh you're so lucky, you are naturally slim. Well, yes...

Anyway, it's great to read of other people's success with this, very motivating. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Tillyboo · 23/05/2007 14:39

Hippipotami - Good slow weightloss will stay off so well done !

A friend has been to visit today wither her children and said 'Where has yer bum gone?', which was lovely that she'd noticed I'd lost some physical size, BUT, I don't need to lose it off my bum. I haven't got much of a bum and need all the bum I have to fill out my jeans and trousers.

Still, something must be working. I cheated and weight myself today...

Da, Da Daaaaaaaa LOST 1 lb

My official weigh in is next Weds (Day 45). So,in 45 days I have lost exactly 1 lb. Sounds pathetic but I but feel and look noticebly small in places. It'll be interesting to measure myself to see where the loss is (apart from my bum)

I can only think that the walking I have been doing is making me lose physical size and perhaps fat is being replaced a bit by muscle ?

hippipotami · 23/05/2007 14:51

mrs malumbas - I don't like exercise either.
So all I have been doing is taking over dog walking duties from my dh, I take the dog for a 30-odd minute stroll most days, and I try to take the children swimming most weekends. Whilst dh supervises them I take myself off to the deep pool and swim approx 10 lenghts (takes 15 minutes)

And that is all the exercise I do. Really am not interested in anything else. And it is helping!

So I don't think you need to head to the gym clad head to toe in lycra! (that would never have been an option for me anyway, luckily for the nation they don't make lycra outfits in my size!!

saggers · 23/05/2007 22:15

hippipotomi, That's brilliant! 5lbs off when you said you thought you'd've put 6lbs back on! Well done! I'm not surprised you're happy!
mrsmalumbas, Apparently Paul says on one of his seminars, that 15 minutes extra walking a day will make a noticeable difference. I noticed today that I chose to walk a 30 minute walk rather than taking the car. I feel as if I did it sort of by accident. I think the cd must be working!
Tillyboo, 1lb is good, especially seeing as you obviously don't have much to lose! I reckon you could easily have put 3 or 4lbs on in muscle, through walking.
I've been back on track today thank goodness. Off to fill in my Journal...

hippipotami · 24/05/2007 09:35

Thanks Saggers - am indeed delighted. But then went and spoilt it all last night by munching my way through a big (and I mean huge) bag of Doritos. Was fed up, had a headache, and dh away on business. Aaargh.....

Tilly - it sounds like you have very very little weight to lose, hence why the cd is perhaps not having much of in impact on the amount of food you eat - you probably did not eat much to start with. Also, you are probably losing weight, but putting on muscle, so are toning up instead of losing actual pounds.

I am really pleased there is a group of us doing this - it is brilliant to have the support, I find it very motivating. It is also nice not to be doing this alone as it were.

Tillyboo · 24/05/2007 11:25

Hello Girls, I agree it's great to have a group of us doing this. My friend is doing it too but doesn't use Mumsnet so it's lovely to know how everyone is getting on.

I am roughly a stone overweight but being realistic and 43 I can't expect to be the exact weight I was 3 years ago (pre dd) so that's why 10lb was my goal.

I have quite a bit of flab and cellulite on my tummy, thighs and arms (inherited family body shape I'm afraid) so would dearly love to tone up/ lose the layer of fat underneath my skin.

I'm going to Royal Ascot at the end of June & am dreading looking for something to wear which is flattering and comfy. This weekend beckons shopping and I'm really looking forward to it - not.
Any suggestions of what shops/ websites to look at ? Have done LK Bennett, Hobbs, Anusha, Plumo etc. etc.

suzi2 · 24/05/2007 20:48

I also need fashion help! 2 weddings, one an evening at the end of June and one in July. i'm not a big spender but I can afford to spend so if it was perfect I wouldn't mind forking out more. I've looked in monsoon/coast but have no idea what will suit me! I HATE shopping and clothes.

Well my weekly weigh in is tomorrow morning but I sneaked on today and I think I've lost about a pound. So not so much but as long as it's on the way down not up that's fine!

I do think I'm slipping a bit with the system though...

saggers · 24/05/2007 21:24

I'm glad of the support on this thread too. It's good to know I'm not alone doing this. I feel as if I'm slipping a bit too though, Suzi2 - don't know why - it's not as if it's hard to do. Wonder if it's just that it takes time to change bad habits? I will make a concerted effort tomorrow and will only eat when I am hungry.
Wish I could help you two with your outfit queries. I just HATE shopping for clothes when I'm overweight. I ended up borrowing an outfit from a friend when I went to a friend's wedding last year. Luckily she'd only worn it once, to a wedding. She'll have looked loads better in it than I did, but I was just glad it fit me, and it meant I didn't have to shop for an outfit!
Need links to the sort of outfits you like, and we can vote/suggest others? I can't do links yet... Will go away and try to learn...

saggers · 28/05/2007 10:40

Hello? Is anybody still there, or has this thread died? Just as we were all saying how good the support was....I could do with some support at the moment! So if you're still there anyone...?!

weewilliewinkie · 28/05/2007 13:42

I was about to ask a question - could you use this system alongside WW points system? I've just shelled out 40 quid for ww and have only lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks - was thinking of doing PMcK too. Any thoughts?

hippipotami · 28/05/2007 20:54

Hi Saggers, am still here! I think I can go a few days without adding to this thread as I am only weighing myself every 21 days - so I don't have anything much to report for the other 20 days

Why do you need support hun? What is the matter?

WeeWillieWonka - I don't see why you could not use PM along side WW, but the only thing I will say is that the two work in completely different ways. With WW you are very aware of how much you eat by counting points. PM wants eating to become more natural - ie listen to your body, and do not count calories/points etc.
So actually, personally I would not combine them. (but there is bound to be someone who did combine the two and for whom it worked, so watch this space!)

I have been eating a fair bit at the mo, and dog walks (my only exercise) have been short due to the continuous rain.
Never, mind. Will plod on!

suzi2 · 28/05/2007 23:20

I'm here! It keeps sliding off my "threads I'm on" so I forget lol.

I think the 'philosophy' of eating when hungry, stopping when full etc could be applied regardless of how you're eating. However, a big part of the book is that nothing is forbidden and food should be enjoyed. For me, that's the key to this all working. If I want some mars bar I can have it "so long as I'm hungry". No points, no couting, no obsessing, no worrying etc. I think that it would just be too stressful to do that when counting points?

I'm slipping this week. DH is off work on holiday so we're kind of pigging out. I've been shovelling food in, without a second thought, finishing every drop and feeling stuffed. It's actually not a nice feeling now that I'm a bit more in tune. I think I'll try and listen to the CD tomorrow and see if I can get back in the swing of things. I was about 10-11lbs down on Friday at 4 wks so I really don't want to screw up!

saggers · 29/05/2007 09:37

I'm glad you haven't all gone!
When I say I need support, I mean I need someone to follow me round and stop me eating if I'm not hungry! Why am I doing it?! I get weighed tomorrow, and am sure I'll have put weight on, or maybe just stayed the same. I really was hoping for 4lbs every 2 weeks, but think I've messed up this fortnight. I WILL stick to it today and hope I get back on track. Must admit, I still haven't had chocolate though, and I'm walking the dog and running, so it's not all bad I suppose.
weewilliewinkie - I agree with what hippipotomi and suzi2 have said about combining WW and Paul McKenna. It'd be interesting to follow Paul McKenna's system, but then to count the points at the end of the day, to see how many you've had. (Although it'd probably stress you out if yiou'd had 'too many')
Have you had any success on the outfits front, Tillyboo and suzi2? Did you go on the Style threads?
