koko this is what I'm always saying about doing something sustainable even if it slows you down: I am all for drastic measures etc., but if it leaves you hungry then you'll crack and feel dreadful and despair. Was it a Shake Day that left you so hungry, or a normal restrictive day?
Either way, I have a suggestion for you: this week, for three days I've tried the "Dukan Attack Phase". It was along the lines of the egg fast, something I wanted to try out of sheer curiosity/boredom, but it might be worth you giving it a whirl next week: basically it involves "pure protein", i.e. low carb low fat, and so it really doesn't make you hungry as you can have as much as you like. (Probably as much as anything it works by slashing calories, but in a way that satisfies your hunger.) You'll be bored as anything but you won't do a Cookie Monster when you get in from work out of crazy hunger.
I suggest this not as a fad, but because it might be a good way of identifying a few low-calorie snacks you can shove in your mouth when you feel a Cookie Monster Attack coming on to distract yourself? I mean, I ate almost a whole pack of ham for just over 100 calories. I didn't finish it precisely because I was allowed as much of it as I liked and I got bored of it, because who eats an entire pack of ham? But if I'd only been allowed three slices I'd have been twitching for more.
I'm just all for finding coping strategies that work for you - I think I've found mine by trying lots of weird things and cherry-picking things that work, and at the very least, anecdotally, you'll see a great loss on the Dukan Attack Phase, which might give you a kick. (Disclaimer: I have only done it for 3 days and I haven't weighed yet
)
