So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Thighs, don't think about it any more, just start tomorrow afresh, it's a new day. You can do this! Why were the biscuits in the house? If I had a packet I'd be wolfing the lot too so it helps to only have either no snacks you like in or only ones you don't really like very much in, that way you're not nearly as tempted. Everyone has stumbles but don't give up or let it define your attitude for tomorrow and the days onward. You can do this!

Well done honey for dropping a dress size! Enjoy your new clothes! Smile

Ellie - why not chuck out any remaining cans of full fat coke, or give them away, or ask your OH to hide them?

SharkSkinThing · 04/05/2017 07:30

Morning, all, didn't get a chance to catch up with all the messages - hello to all the new folk and a big cheer for all of those sticking with it.

Thighs - you poor thing, but as others say, cut yourself some slack and be kind to yourself. My weigh gain is ALL due to 5 years' worth of broken sleep and very early mornings; it's very, very tough to live on salad when you've only had 45 seconds of sleep. I would have done exactly the same, believe me. And the same to you, Ellie, don't worry about it.

I'm on track but only managed 5,000 steps yesterday as stuck at desk, and today is not looking much better. I'll add it up over the week and see if that makes a difference!

Curious about the Fit bits, I have to say, though I find them a bit Orwellian!

Day 4 - here we go!

Ellieboolou27 · 04/05/2017 08:09

Morning all star that was the last remaining Coke, it looked all sad rolling around in the fridge, I won't buy it anymore as it's too tempting!

New day now and feeling motivated by your messages Smile

MissingPanda · 04/05/2017 08:10

Morning :) not eaten yet, will wait until I get home. Have to pick up a few bits from Morrisons first must remember to include salad in that.

Thighs new day new start. Yesterday was a blip forgive yourself and start afresh. You can do it.

Good luck everyone.

Somanyillustrations · 04/05/2017 08:16

Can I join in a bit late? In my defence I've been on nights, and in no fit state to overhaul my diet!

1.5st to lose here- the same 1.5st that I'm always losing and putting back on...

Holiday booked for early July, so really want to be a stone lighter by then. Rejoining gym today, planning a light salad lunch and a fish/ veg dinner.

Work is my worst enemy really, too many unhealthy options at lunchtime. I need to make sure I take lunch every day, and leave my purse at home so I pop to buy chocolate.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 04/05/2017 08:21

Morning all :)

I'm down 5.2 lbs so far, stuck to my step goals tues and weds and been on track for calories every day

369thegoosedrankwine · 04/05/2017 08:27

Welcome many. A holiday is my motivation too. I am sick of feeling self conscious on the beach or hating the pics when I get back.

Thighs go easy on yourself. One bad meal doesn't matter in a month period. I actually have to stop myself going into the kitchen in order to exercise my willpower. If I am there and dh is eating chocolate or biscuits then I almost feel it's my right to join in. New day, new start.

Day 4 and this thread is making me feel positive. I am going to weigh in on Monday. That is giving me the accountability as I promise to tell the truth.

WannabeHippyChick · 04/05/2017 08:40

Morning all!
As I really cannot abide weighing myself (probably something to do with being weighed at school every term - scales & teacher 1 down one end of the gym, teacher 2 with clipboard at the other, whole year waiting together in vest & huge blue serge pants. Teacher 1 would shout your name & weight out to the other end for teacher 2 to write down. WTF was that all about then? HmmConfusedAngry)
So... I'm going to measure my chest, tummy, thighs & calves & gauge my progress that way!
Now need to go & find a very kind tape measure... Wink x

Lubilu28 · 04/05/2017 08:41

That's my worst enemy too Ellie!! I'm cutting out all fizzy drinks but my no1 killer is Nutella!! I'm giving it up for May but there's half a jar in the cupboard! So tempted to get a big spoonful but I won't do it 🙈

I don't want to throw it away I can't bear the thought haha 😂

StarHeartDiamond · 04/05/2017 08:41

Morning all!

Aw Ellie, the little lonely coke can Grin I'm the same with the last jam tart or bun Smile

Well done for staying on track shark!

Panda, do you work night shifts? That must be tough on the diet front.

Good luck to all! Let's steer clear of rubbish today and have a really good day!

StarHeartDiamond · 04/05/2017 08:42

Chuck it in the bin loub, it'll only derail your efforts. Go on, you know you can!

pinkieandperkie · 04/05/2017 08:44

Just checking in day 4

I'm feeling positive and not quite so hungry today. I am working this morning so no access to food.

Have a good day all of you.

MissingPanda · 04/05/2017 10:16

Just had breakfast. Porridge, a sachet of oatso simple (golden syrup) followed by a banana. I usually just have a bowl of porridge sprinkled with cinnamon/golden syrup but I'm trying to incorporate more fruit and veg into my diet so had the banana too.

Star no, I don't work nights. I'm a support worker and it includes sleeps. Usually I'll do a shift, sleep, shift but occasionally, as today, I'll finish after the sleep. I didn't sleep well last night and today is a day off so today will be a challenge. On the bright side it's a lovely sunny day which makes me want to eat healthier.

SharkSkinThing · 04/05/2017 13:38

Beyond - blimey! You will be on target by next week at this rate!

I love porridge but it never fills me up; eggs seem to really do the trick, though, I could live on 'em.

Very busy work day so not eaten since brekkie. Will eat with DS at 5pm then fingers crossed can ride it out for the rest of the evening, meaning that I've practically had a fast day.

Welcome, many.

How are you doing, thighs?

StarHeartDiamond · 04/05/2017 13:44

Panda - I love porridge but find it makes me hungrier as opposed to filling me up?! Don't know why. I didn't lose much weight successfully on it either. I swapped to a lighter breakfast (light cereal bar & apple) and that did help. I love my carbs, I'm not a protein girl at all!

BeyondStrongAndStable · 04/05/2017 14:10

Ah it's just water weight shark, it'll slow down soon :)

Designerenvy · 04/05/2017 14:52

Checking in day 2 for me. Doing well so far. Tough enough cos I'm at work and there's chocolate everywhere....agghhh! Avoiding it do far but definitely missing the sugar hit today !
Hope everyone else doing OK. ..will read through later Smile

Lissette · 04/05/2017 15:09

Climbing back on the Wagon....

Digestive biscuits and ice cream. But did a healthy food shop and didn't buy wine.

d270r0 · 04/05/2017 18:05

I weighed myself for the first time this morning and came in at 14st2. I was expecting higher so thats good I suppose but a long way to go!

I haven't been so good today though. I kept to my 8 hour window but had a lovely piece of carrot cake earlier (I had a John Lewis voucher for a free cake, would be a crime not to use it!) and also at dinner my family were all eating crumble with cream which my dh made loads of a couple of days ago- I'd resisted until now but caved today.

StarHeartDiamond · 04/05/2017 18:35

Checking back in as we head into evening and a (my!) key picking time! Got the craving earlier but had a sliced apple and a choc rice cake, fending off urges until dinner at 7! I'm going to have a big glass of water.

Did bath, feet, face pack and tanning lotion last night so was feeling virtuous but had a bad night of dc waking up & getting in bed with us at 1.30am, taking all the pillow space and snoring - who knew a toddler could snore so loudly?! So I'm tired today but I'm not giving into the rubbish. I don't need it (mantra!)

Designerenvy · 04/05/2017 19:50

Looking for inspiration ! Can ye share what diet ye are following ?
I'm just trying to cut out sugary treats and crisps etc.
I'm trying the 3 meal and 2 healthy snack approach.
Its worked before for me but I'm older now and find g it hard to lose the fat.

Designerenvy · 04/05/2017 19:51

Also drinking buckets of water

Ellieboolou27 · 04/05/2017 20:59

Doing MFP, it worked 3 years ago after I put on 3st AFTER giving birth Blush
In the past I've tried WW, SW, Atkins, Rosemary Conley, Slimfast....you get my drift Grin
Mfp works for me as I like food, all food and can't restrict certain groups.

Ellieboolou27 · 04/05/2017 21:05

Oh and I'm trying to stick to 1300-1400 cals a day
