So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Going to start today so can I join ye please???. Feel miserable and bloated and tummy all over the place cos of the crap I'm eating. Hoping this will motivate me cos I've a serious sugar addiction.
About a stone to lose. All my clothes are tight too small for me Shock!
Well done to everyone on day 3.
I'll have a few shaky days ahead with sugar cravings/withdrawal but I have to start somewhere ! Looking forward to the company along the way !

SharkSkinThing · 03/05/2017 09:25

Nice to meet you, Designer - my clothes are too small, too. Leggings feature way too much!

Good luck!

StarHeartDiamond · 03/05/2017 09:39

Thanks shark Smile and well done beyond! And hi to new joiners.

Designer - in the same as you, about a stone to lose (would prefer two, in my dreams!!) I got my summer clothes from last year out recently and whereas some are ok, they aren't flattering. That means deciding which is the least worst of the bunch which I've done for years before and it's such a depressing way to dress, instead of choosing what you actually want to wear.

Designerenvy · 03/05/2017 10:33

Thanks star and shark ! We can do this !!!! Strength in numbers. Yes, nothing is flattering on me either, big muffin top and bulging tummy.... not a good look .
Good luck to us all !!!

Welcome to the joinersSmile

I was talking to someone at work who has lost 2 stone since January. I'm new to the company so I didn't know her 'before' but she said she did it slow and steady and wasn't afraid to eat she just ate really well. She said she got her head around the fact that she didn't have to starve but just ate well and took it one day at s time.

I'm aware that this is the basics but I could totally relate to cycle she spoke about of being afraid of eating to thinking f@ck it and eating rubbish.

So I'm going to follow slow and steady and keep going. That's my pep talk to myself today!!!

Day 3 and off to the gym at lunchtime. Had 2 eggs on toast for breakfast (working at home). Soup and sw quiche for lunch and stir fry for dinner.....and no snacks....tons of water....

I'm not getting weighed until next week. I find I can fluctuate so much that I am disheartened if it goes up.

SharkSkinThing · 03/05/2017 10:46

That's a great philosophy, 369. I wish I could have that much self control; my portion sizes are my downfall!

Ellieboolou27 · 03/05/2017 10:56

shark I've hidden my scales in my locker st work Grin I thought I was alone in the obsessive weighing in camp!

I've upped my daily calories to 1400 as I've got raging PMT and seriously wanting junk!

Loubilou09 · 03/05/2017 11:01

Morning all, didn't manage a run last night but did a 4 mile walk instead. On plan with calories yesterday and did 1300. Away with work for a few days which is always a bit trickier to manage food intake but will eat well and try to low carb as much as possible and stick to no booze! Gym kit in bag to hit the gym as much as possible - good luck everyone!

BeyondStrongAndStable · 03/05/2017 11:23

I weigh daily - it keeps me on track
Wake up, have wee, go downstairs (nice level stone floor), strip to knickers, weigh Grin

StarHeartDiamond · 03/05/2017 12:29

Loub, good luck with the trip and sticking to healthy food! You can do it. Imagine it being this time next week when you're further forward with your weight loss!

Have remembered to take all my multivits and drank two big glasses of water. Planning on bath with salts, doing feet and a face pack tonight. Read somewhere that having a bath uses 130 cals so win:win! Also the salts help detoxify Smile

Thighsaplenty · 03/05/2017 12:36

Day 3. Horrific night with DS and I'm flailing. I'd normally reach for rubbish to power through, but have made do with endless cups of tea and Diet Coke. Not great, but better than the alternative.
Breakfast of granola, yogurt and berries and lunch of 2 (!) bagel thins and chicken.
So very tired. Need to stay away from biscuits.

Ellieboolou27 · 03/05/2017 12:49

thighs lack of sleep is a killer when trying to lose weight, I was so irritated with dd last night as she wouldn't sleep and I wanted to eat!

Keep telling ourselves being slimmer = more energy Grin well done for not caving in, lunch done and I'm dreaming of next meal

MissingPanda · 03/05/2017 13:16

I know I'm late but can I join pls

I started Monday having been inspired by the fact it was not only Monday but the 1st of the month too Grin

I'm 5ft 5in and a bit and weighed in at 15st 6lbs. I'm going away for a week in June and want to lose half a stone by then but want to lose about 5st in total. Not sure of exact weight loss, will see how I feel when I get there.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 03/05/2017 13:37

I have a 'motivational' nativ bottle which keeps me drinking. I'm working hard but struggling as it's freezing.... where's summer? No sunshine, not fairSad

Waistband feels looser on work trousers, and scales show a pound loss

SharkSkinThing · 03/05/2017 13:40

Oh thighs, poor you. Be kind to yourself and do the best you can - and don't beat yourself up if today goes south. Can you try sipping a mug of Options, the chocolate ones? Just to take the edge off?!

Hello panda and welcome.

I have just had a HUGE egg salad. Chicken for dinner tonight. Barely moved from my desk so daren't check how few steps I have done!

Roll on Tuesday's weigh in to see if the torture is worth it!

StarHeartDiamond · 03/05/2017 13:56

Hi to panda!
Agree with the sleep thing, you are just searching for an energy boost on the day. I have a sliced apple with a dessert spoon of peanut butter, or one of those big chocolate rice cakes for a carb fix when I'm feeling like I need an extra snack. With a cup of tea you can make the rice cake last a long time and there's more tobtgrm then a biscuit. Plus no wheat, which also makes me bloated.

Ellieboolou27 · 03/05/2017 14:02

Ahhhh being at work is harder than at home!
So far colleagues have brought in maltesers, Ferreo rocher, salted caramel bites and I've had one of each I'm counting 5 malteasers as one

pinkieandperkie · 03/05/2017 14:03

Off to buy chocolate rice cakes. Smile

BeyondStrongAndStable · 03/05/2017 14:05

I've raved about them before, but I love whitworth shots for a little snack. Especially the toffee and pecan one.

SharkSkinThing · 03/05/2017 14:07

Ellie!!!

There is lemon drizzle cake within my reach....I might have to knock it into the bin. I'm not even a cake person!

We need to stop fixating on cake, people!

Ellieboolou27 · 03/05/2017 14:23

Grin tank god I'm leaving the office soon - I am being sabotaged, I've got 500cals left for the day Blush

MissingPanda · 03/05/2017 14:27

Thank you for the welcome :) Had to post and run before as I'd reached my bus stop.

So far I'm doing okay. I'm not following a specific diet atm, just cutting out junk to start with and apart from fruit no snacking between meals. I aim to watch portion size and make healthier choices foodwise. I'm also trying to incorporate exercise into my life too. I walked to work on Monday and did c25k wk1 d1 this morning.

Wrt work we mainly eat a healthy diet but when someone comes back from the weekly shop with cake it's very tempting. I'll have to learn to resist.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Thighs hope you get some sleep tonight. Lack of sleep is a killer.

StarHeartDiamond · 03/05/2017 15:05

No cake! Stay strong! Smile just think that cake will always be available in the shops at any time so we don't need to eat the one in front of us, we are just deferring it for a different time Grin

pinkieandperkie · 03/05/2017 15:42

Can I share my excitement, I have just ordered a Fitbit from Argos. It's coming tonight between 7-10.

WannabeHippyChick · 03/05/2017 16:10

No snacking today... so far!
Had a yummy lunch out with a friend but just had what I wanted as obviously no snacks!!!! It felt different, somehow guilt free as it was part of my mealtime and was intentional rather than just mindless grazing.
DD2s parents eve later, so should miss the danger hour of 5-6!
Hope everyone's day going ok! x
