So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Oh wow, designer!! Fabulous news. 10lbs off is a fantastic achievement. If you feel tempted to stray off the path, think back to that good feeling when you stepped on the scales!

Going to weigh in Saturday. Hoping to get to 10lbs in total too, after all the yo-yoing of the last few weeks. Have ordered some new clothes from Oasis in a size smaller than usual, in hope/as motivation!

Ellieboolou27 · 15/06/2017 19:15

Who hoo designer!! See, even whe. We think we have been really bad subconsciously we are not being as greedy as we used to be!
Star - I love oasis, nothing beats fitting into smaller clothes, especially new ones.
Will weigh Monday and have been good....... so far, weekend approaching but I've planned so will stick to it so I can eat a slice of the Victoria sponge I'm making dh for Sunday

Ellieboolou27 · 15/06/2017 19:17

I've dine boiled eggs, chopped carrots and brought little pots low fat hummus, wedges of watermelon all in the fridge so if I want to snack it's all prepared and ready to eat.

Designerenvy · 15/06/2017 22:16

Thanks star and ellie.... we're getting there !
Best of luck for Sat Star ! And best of luck for Monday Ellie !
You're right Ellie, nothing feels better than smaller clothes !!!
We're on our way to our new shapes and sizes Grin
Those healthy treats sound delish Elie, it Def pays to be organised and have the good stuff to hand !
Enjoy the new clothes star....I love a shopping spree !

Arrived home couple of hours ago. Ellie Costa Teguise is where I've been to. It's lovely although we only ventured out to the nearby town a couple of times. Just a word of warning there was a nearly constant breeze blowing in off the sea which made it feel slightly cooler than the mid to high 20s that it was. Although I used factor 30 I did burn on the tops of my legs and my chest because I didn't apply the cream as regularly as I should have. You probably already know this but just in case.

Now for the dieting stuff Wink I've just eaten take away and I certainly didn't deny myself when away so I'll be interested to see how much weight I've put on when I weigh myself tomorrow morning.

Congratulations Designer on your loss 10lb is brilliant Smile

Also to anyone else who has lost. I have been reading posts but over the week so have had a few sleeps and my memory is bad at the best of times Blush

Designerenvy · 15/06/2017 22:43

Ah welcome back Panda ! Glad u had a great holiday ! Don't worry about any gain you might have ...it's only to be expected after hols !
I'm off to London on the 28th for 6 nights and I know I won't be logging any food for that or MFP would explode 😂
Thanks a mill for the good wishes Smile

StarHeartDiamond · 16/06/2017 18:44

Hope you had a great hol, panda!

Thinking of joining a gym Shock although I would probably get s personal trainer for a few weeks first because my gym knowledge is limited to the waking machine and the cross trainer and that's pretty much it!! I really need to tone up my bum and thighs... lifelong problem areas for me being an hourglass. They are getting smaller with the diet, but they're still wobbly! When I can cover up in black leggings etc it's not too bad but thinking ahead to the holiday and swimming costumes, I would love to be a bit more toned. Bought a new costume from Tesco today because it was pretty, and it fits but seeing myself in it did make me think about toning.

Do any of you do kettlebells (whatever they are?!) etc?

MissingPanda · 17/06/2017 13:27

Technically it was a working holiday so not as relaxing as a holiday holiday but I enjoyed it. We all had a good time.

I weighed myself yesterday and I've put on half a stone but I can (and will

Ellieboolou27 · 17/06/2017 13:50

Welcome back panda, thanks for the tip regarding the weather, I'll make sure I apply frequently especially the kids.
Meh half a stone is ok, a holiday is to enjoy and you did so on Monday you'll rein yourself in and list it again, ive been making fresh strawberries and cream triple layer Victoria sponge for tomorrow Wink
Having a bar b que too but been ok (ish) this week, although it's just too hot to workout at the moment, it's 30 in the shade here in Hertfordshire today Shock

Designerenvy · 17/06/2017 13:51

Glad u enjoyed it Panda ! Best of luck Monday and yes, you
Can do it !

Ellieboolou27 · 17/06/2017 13:54

Star try body fit by Amy on YouTube, she uses dumbells and the workouts are great for toning, My brother is a personal trainer but he lives too far from me and he told me to try her workouts, at my age I can't be jumping all over the place as I wobble too much too Grin

MissingPanda · 17/06/2017 13:58

Thanks for the support everyone it's appreciated. It's thanks in part to the support on this thread that I managed to lose the 12lb in the first place and will continue to lose again.

The next target is my birthday. I'll have to work out how far away it is and what I can aim to lose. I don't know about anyone else but I'm finding it easier to break the weight loss into small(er) chunks than think about it as one total weight loss.

Ellieboolou27 · 17/06/2017 14:18

Yes panda totally agree, much easier to say half a stone st a time rather than 3.5 stone which is what ideally I'd like and need to lose.
Holiday is just over 3 weeks away so I'm aiming to be 12 (ideally 11.13 to be optimistic) I'm 12.8 now, I know when I'm really good I can do 2-3lb a week, I just need another really good week.
This thread has made a huge positive impact on my weight loss, no doubting that at all.

StarHeartDiamond · 18/06/2017 08:19

Panda, I bet you'll have those holiday pounds off in no time!

Ellie - thanks for the YouTube recommendation, I'll definitely be looking that up. Wow it would be great to have a bro as a personal trainer, you know they'd tell you straight Grin how annoying he lives too far away! That cake you're making sounds yum! Cake enjoy today!

Made it to my 10lb off in total goal yesterday (woo-hoo!) although I have probably spoiled it a bit by the BBQ we had yesterday but I tried not to go mad. There'll be cake and chocs around today so I'll have a few but going to try reeeely hard not to give in to that "sod it" feeling!! Grin

MissingPanda · 18/06/2017 11:36

Woohoooo Star you've achieved your goal...congratulations! Your next goal could be to not go mad with the cakes and chocs today. I do think learning moderation is an important thing to erm learn.

Personally I want to learn to be able to eat foods like chocolate without being greedy and gorging huge amounts in one go. I want to learn to be able to eat a slice of cake one day but not then eat cake/chocolate/crisps every day iyswim. I think it's an important 'skill' to learn in order to achieve a healthy diet.

Designerenvy · 18/06/2017 17:39

Well done star ...that's fab!
Best of luck Panda Monday getting back on track ! ...you can do it !
Ellie, the hols will fly in. Your flying it !
I had the bbq last night and feeling a bit rough today. It was great fun but I majorly over indulged and drank a little too much wine. I just feel wrecked today. Eating back on track and trying desperately to get some water in but there's not a hope of any exercise today, I'm counting down the hours til it's a reasonable able hour to go to bed Grin.... will I ever learn Hmm

StarHeartDiamond · 19/06/2017 10:38

Thanks panda and designer Smile yesterday I had (on top of usual food) three choc biscuits, four thorntons chocs, a sausage bun (BBQ) and two glasses of wine. Could have been better, could have been worse!!

Hope you've got over your hangover, designer! I can't take them like I used to!

Feeling like a fresh start today and it's so hot I don't feel extra hungry, although it's the time of the month so chocs are calling! (So far ignored).

MissingPanda · 19/06/2017 11:16

Went for a run this morning. Got through one and a half of the three 5 minute runs before giving up. I usually sleep between 7 & 8 hours with the occasional longer sleep so went to bed about the samr time as the night befire thinking I'd wake up about 6.30am as I did yesterday but instead haf one of my longer sleeps and woke up just before 9am. By the time I got out it was 10am and over 20 degrees. I did the warm up/first 5 mins and felt okay. When I got halfway through the second 5min run I was pouring with sweat and gasping for breath so ended up giving up. I don't think it helped having 2 weeks between runs either.

I have two options. I either set the alarm and get up early or I may just start some of the workouts on you tube instead and go back to c25k later in the year when it's a bit cooler.

MissingPanda · 19/06/2017 11:18

Well done Star! You managed to restrict yourself instead of completely pigging out. That's an achievement right there.

StarHeartDiamond · 19/06/2017 12:42

Thanks panda! It wasn't as hard to resist as usual, the first five minutes are the wurst when you think "go on- treat yo self"! Grin but then you get distracted by something else and the craving passes... don't want to undo all my good work before the hol, which is typical form for me!

It's just too hot to exercise! Especially running. Maybe do cooler workouts until the heatwave had passed. We might not have to wait that long with our unpredictable weather! Last week I was wearing a puffa coat on the school run, its bonkers! You sound really dedicated, I am in awe!

^^ I want to know what the user above said now!! Grin

MissingPanda · 19/06/2017 17:55

So do I Grin

MissingPanda · 19/06/2017 19:01

Thanks Star this time I am dedicated or maybe motivated is the right word. Something seems to have clicked this time around.

Last year when a colleague and I took a service user abroad I was around 14st 11/12lb and when I sat in the plane seat I remember thinking there wasn't much room Blush This year it was the last few days of April and I was looking at 15st 6lb on the scales. A good half a stone heavier than last year and if I'd carried on eating the way I had been I would have been closer to 16st. There was 5wks and 3 days to the holiday, if I started on the Monday, and I knew if I put my mind to it I could lose half a stone. As it happens I lost 12lb which was even better Grin

I think having the holiday as a goal and setting an easily achievable target helped. The fact that I not only achieved but exceeded my goal has also helped because I'm determined to carry on. My next goal is my birthday which is 14wks away so my goal will be to lose a stone by then with anything more being a bonus Grin

The best thing was a few days into my diet I found this thread Grin You've all inspired me by not giving up when you hit a hurdle, eg had a bad day or stalled when losing weight. The support has been brilliant and kept me going.

Ellieboolou27 · 19/06/2017 20:22

Evening all, I've been boiled alive the last 24 hours, it's so hot!
Panda the fact that you even attempted any exercise with this weather deserves a medal in itself! I can't just about function.

Star, that's self control at its best, I wasn't as controlled yesterday and must of ate my body weight in cream cakes Blush. I'm impressed that you only had 4 thorntons! I can't have them in the house, at Christmas my dh locks them in his car until Christmas Eve Grin

Designer - hope your feeling better today! At least you enjoyed yourself, nothing worse than over indulging if you've had a crap time.

Weighed in this morning still the same 12.8 but with my cakeathon yesterday it's understandable!

Back on track today and stuck to my 1400 cals.

I want to know what user said too! Probably jealous that we are succeeding in our goals.
