So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

HI Panda, it's so true, when we're so busy what we eat is last on a long list of priorities at times . I've decided to make it a major priority now though cos I was feeling so awful. I had awful tummy problems, sleep problems, skin looked awful and I was constantly tired. I feel a lot more energetic now, skin improving, tummy so much better. .... I'd be a fool to go back but I've been here before and have slipped back into old habits ! I keep reminding myself how good I feel now after just a month..... that I need to keep this up , so here's hoping I listen to myself this time Hmm.... I'm loving MFP, only hear about it from you lot here but I'm totally addicted now! It amazes me how many calories are in things now that I would have considered healthy. I'm not weighing my food but I'm hoping I'm estimating well.... I'll find out neXT wed for sure Wink
Hi Ellie, I think your right to let the weigh in go til next week and that'll motivate you to be good for the week I think ! We're all going to have weeks like that, don't beat yourself up, just get back on track ASAP and hopefully youll start getting some sleep soon. Everything is easier after a nights sleep.....
the forecast is bad for the weekend here but we'll make the most of it I'm sure. Dh has been away working every bank holiday so far this year so it's great to have him home for this one! There's a local music festival, so if it's anyway dry we might head there with the kids !...here's hoping !

Good morning ladies ! I hope ye and your loved ones are all safe this morning. Thinking of London this morning xx

StarHeartDiamond · 04/06/2017 10:40

Morning... yes Designer, me too Sad sad news again. Just feel so bad for the victims and their families. Scary times.

MissingPanda · 04/06/2017 12:13

Afternoon...terrible news about London Sad Very unsettling mainly because you don't know where or when they'll strike next. My thoughts are with those who have been affected by this.

Ellieboolou27 · 04/06/2017 14:45

Hi all, I've only just heard about it, So sad, also very scary as its totally random. Just normal people out enjoying an evening in summer and this terrible thing happens. When will it end Sad

Designerenvy · 04/06/2017 15:11

Very scary times we'recommend living in for sureFlowers
On a lighter note I ate 1000 calories more than I was supposed to yesterday Shock..... that included wine and beer ah well, it's a bank holiday after all.! Wink

Ellieboolou27 · 04/06/2017 17:05

Wine here's to the bank holiday design, I've probably done a 1000 calories more for the lady 4 days Grin
I will be glad to get back to work and school routine tomorrow, the holidays are always harder.
what does mfp allow you calorie wise I'm being nosey, it allows me 1310 for 1.5 loss a week and 1560 for a 1lb a week loss

Ellieboolou27 · 04/06/2017 17:43
  • last few days not lady few Grin
MissingPanda · 04/06/2017 18:56

On MFP I can have 1,490 calories for a 1.5lb loss.

I've been inputting my food for the last few days, some days I've been over others under. I'm not too worried about it atm as I'm on holiday on Thursday. I'm finding it more useful in that I'm getting an idea of portion size and discovering that some things have more calories in them than I imagined. It helps me to make choices e.g. I'll opt for wholemeal bread as opposed to cheese and onion baps with the latter as an occasional treat.

Ellieboolou27 · 04/06/2017 19:43

Panda, that's the good thing about mfp, it's a useful tool for portion control, I could happily munch my way through sweet chilli sensations big bag, until I realised how many calories are in them!
My holiday is in 5 1/2 weeks so will get back on track tomorrow, once on holiday I'm going to enjoy myself, I'm finding although I'm greedy I'm not a greedy as before if that makes sense?
Haven't heard from lub hope she's doing good.

Designerenvy · 04/06/2017 20:31

Hi Panda and Ellie. I'm allowed 1,200 calories for a 2 pound loss a week but I think I'm. Being too optimistic. I'm hoping to lose a pound a week if possible. I usually go over that amount cos I eat back a lot of the exercise calories I burn but I try not to use them all.
I live MFP, it's really helping me make better choices most of the time. I have, on occasion, blatantly lied to MFP, which is gas cos it's just an app BlushHmm.... but I don't want to be judged by it Confused

MissingPanda · 04/06/2017 22:15

Designer Grin that made me laugh. I've been so tempted to lie too or at least not fill it in.

Ellie makes perfect sense.

MissingPanda · 05/06/2017 08:19

Morning...I've weighed myself this morning and I've lost 3lb, down to 14st 8lb Grin So pleased especially as I've gone over my calorie allowance a couple of times

Ellieboolou27 · 05/06/2017 10:15

Wow panda that's great!!! 3lb is almost 1/4 of a stone and when I lost my 3lb last week I felt so much slimmer!
Weighed myself this morning even though I said I wouldn't, luckily I've stayed the same which is A miracle, back on track now and going to stick religiously to 1450 a day for this week.

Designerenvy · 05/06/2017 10:51

Fantastic Panda!!! That's brilliant, well done you!
That's brilliant Ellie, staying the same is fab when you've had an off week ! Brilliant any stuff !
I'm weighing Wednesday morning. I feel I've a lost a bit but we'll see Hmm
Yeah Panda , feel silly lying to an app, but it's the truth Grin

Designerenvy · 05/06/2017 10:52

Brilliant stuff, not brilliant any stuff??

MissingPanda · 05/06/2017 11:34

Thank you :)

I'm wearing a pair of jeggings from New Look this morning and they fit much better than they used to. I've lost 12lb in total but am flying on Thursday so will look forward to accomplishing the stone after I get back. My aim while away is not to worry too much about what I'm eating but not to indulge too much iyswim.

Ellie if you've had a bad week food wise then staying at the same weight is an achievement in itself.

Good luck for Wednesday Designer I'm sure you'll have lost something.

Designerenvy · 05/06/2017 17:47

Ah well done Panda.... that's fantastic.... a whole 12 pounds ! ....you're right to enjoy the holiday , you can get back on track once you're home. ... oh you'll have a ball and will feel so much better about yourself , now that you've lost that 12 pounds !
Thanks a mill for the good luck wishes for my weigh in...fingers crossed Wink

Designerenvy · 07/06/2017 07:37

Good morning ! I'm down 1 pound this morning....that's a total of 9 pound lost in 5 weeks. I'm very happy with that. It's my TOM, so I was afraid I'd be up, so I'm really delightedGrin.
That leaves me with 7.5 pounds to my target goal. Slow progress but getting there!
Hope ye are all well Smile

MissingPanda · 07/06/2017 07:52

Brilliant Designer Grin fantastic news. Even if you lose 1lb a week from now on that's still achieveable in 2 months. That's not long.

Ellieboolou27 · 07/06/2017 08:33

Great stuff designer! It stays off when we lose it slow, 9lb over 5 weeks is perfect, averaging 1.5lb a week.

Designerenvy · 07/06/2017 11:50

Thanks Ellie and Panda.... yes I really want it stay off this time , so hoping a steady, slow loss helps ....fingers crossed Smile

StarHeartDiamond · 08/06/2017 07:47

Well done Designer and Panda! What a fantastic achievement. Also Ellie, for maintaining! StarStarStar

I'm really struggling to stay on the straight & narrow myself. It's not treats as such, just more volume of ordinary food I seem to want. I haven't been keeping up with my water drinking or vitamin taking at all lately, which I do think makes a difference to how hungry I feel, so I think today I'm going to really focus on that & see what happens.

Designerenvy · 08/06/2017 09:31

Hi Star! Best of luck getting back on track. You can do it !
I won't deny , it's hard work .... I'm finding the weight is coming off much slower now than it did when I was younger, it's hard slog!
I keep trying to focus on much better I feel in myself and hoping that'll keep me going!
Again, best of luck, start with drinking the water and that'll make you feel better cos you'll be hydrated properly and hopefully everything else will follow xx

Ellieboolou27 · 08/06/2017 12:31

Morning star, I went totally off track last week and only just getting back into the right frame of mind, I was hungry all the time! I brought my scales back home from work yesterday, thought I'd weigh in to give me a kick, I was 3lb lighter! It's not the flooring as they are the same weight at work, it's motivated me to really stick with it.
I'm 12.8 now and started at 13.5!
Some days / weeks we are hungrier, as long as you are making better food choices and not eating too much junk the weight will still come off.
Come on ladies let's aim for a stone off in total by the end of the month, if not a few more lbs! We are so close!
5 weeks today until I fly to lanzarote!!! my goal is to be 11.8, I was this weight in 2014 for my last holiday abroad and felt quite good.
Pandas off today on holidays, luckily thing!
We are all really good st checking in and supporting eachother, I know we can do this Smile
And definitely the older we get the harder it is, but we are doing something about now.
