So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Well done Ellie and all the others who've lost! I'm still 8lb down but weighing on Tuesday so we'll see then. Had a few snacks over bank hol so not holding my breath for anything amazing Blush

Ellieboolou27 · 30/05/2017 12:04

Thanks all Smile
star I was pretty greedy Sunday and yesterday but still lost, 8lb down in total for me too Smile
61/2 weeks until holiday so I'm hoping to lose another 10lb if I can, I'm 12.11 now would be good to be in 11's by hols but as long as I'm losing I'm not going to pressure myself.

Designerenvy · 30/05/2017 12:27

Whoo-Hoo Ellie and Star ! Well done ye !!!! Fantastic work !
I'm weighing in tomorrow but I don't expect to lose anything cos I weighed in early on Sat....will be happy if I stay the sameSmile....
Fingers crossed. Feel I'm toning up a bit with the extra walks and workouts. ... clothes are feeling a bit better on me too.
I love this thread !

Ellieboolou27 · 31/05/2017 10:55

Morning all you slimmer ladies, it's lovely and warm today and I don't feel sweaty and bloated as I usually would, I know it's only 8lb off but mentally I'm in such a better place about my weight since this thread started.
Even though I had a 5am start this morning I'm going to try and fit in a 30 minute YouTube workout this evening.
Having homemade pizza and salad tonight, making the base from cauliflower so not sure how good it will taste - will report back.
How is everyone? lub your soon to hit the 1st mark!

MissingPanda · 31/05/2017 12:07

Afternoon. I've just been for my annual asthma review at the doctors. The HCA weighed me as part of it. I weighed at 91kg which is approx 14st. Mine weighed me at 14st 11lb on Monday. I want those scales.

MissingPanda · 31/05/2017 12:10

Meant to say Ellie make an 'appointment' for that workout as you would a doctors apt. You're more likely to do it that way. That's what I find.

Ellieboolou27 · 31/05/2017 12:29

panda Grin Grin I want those scales too! You'll have to invest in a new set now or forever be 11lbs heavier than you really are!
Great tip about the appointment, I've scheduled it in for 8.15 and I feel more committed to actually doing it now. I just ate 4 devine Italian butter biscuits that someone brought into work so even more reason to keep that appoint Grin

StarHeartDiamond · 31/05/2017 14:51

Ellie that's amazing Star you have done so so well! 8lb off! You can definitely do another 10lb in 6 weeks, just keep doing what you're doing!

Panda - you have just dropped 11lb! Grin wow! why should those scales be wrong especially if they are a professional set, I bet they are righ! are your own scales old ones? Mine got more unreliable towards the end of their life.

Designerenvy · 31/05/2017 16:15

Hi all, Grin Panda, every house should have those scales ! .... they could be right though and yours could be wrong! Mine was weighing half a stone under til I changed them Shock
Ellie, pizza sounds nice, I have cod in , so I'm googling like mad for recipes.... enjoy the work out. I need to schedule on in too today or a walk !
Hi Star, agree with u about scales as they age, very unreliable !
I weighed myself this morning and I'm down a pun since Sat, that's a running total of 8 pounds since we started. I'm happy out with that and , like you said Ellie, I'm feeling so much better in myself too!

Designerenvy · 31/05/2017 16:16

Pun= poundConfused

MissingPanda · 31/05/2017 16:50

Was wondering what a pun was Grin

My scales aren't that old. I can't remember exactly when I bought them even though I remember buying them. I'm pretty sure it was after we moved location at the last job, possibly even after I started my current job so 3yrs at a push.

MissingPanda · 31/05/2017 16:54

Congrats on the pound btw. You've managed to restart your weightloss journey. 2lb last week, another lb today.

Designerenvy · 31/05/2017 17:05

Thanks Panda ! 3 years isn't that old. As long as they're moving in the right direction, that's the main thing Smile

MissingPanda · 31/05/2017 20:25

Mystery solved. It occured to me that while I usually weigh myself on a hard surface the surgery scales were on carpet so I've just weighed myself again first on the hard surface then on carpet. There was about a stone difference in weight. I checked on both surfaces twice and it did the same both times.

Designerenvy · 31/05/2017 21:13

That's a huge difference, maybe we should weigh ourselves on carpet from now on then Wink

MissingPanda · 31/05/2017 21:45

As tempting as that is I think I'll stick to the hard surface. At least that way I'll know how much I'm losing each week and total amount.

Designerenvy · 31/05/2017 23:36

Designer - yay, 8lb off, woo-hoo! Great going Star

Panda - ah well, the scales mystery solved... but before long you will be weighing in at that lower weight for real!

A pound off today so 9lb in total which is good but I haven't been focussing as much as I'd like because bank hol, friends visits etc (excuses excuses) so I am going to make a commitment to a proper 2lbs off at least this week.

Does anyone else find having a weekly goal in terms of pounds off motivating, or do you find it better to just see what happens?

BeyondStrongAndStable · 01/06/2017 09:18

Weighing in today at 214.2, so that's a loss of 11.4lbs
Aim for June is to get to 210, as I have a week away in there too

StarHeartDiamond · 01/06/2017 17:44

Go, Beyond! Smile Such an amazing achievement. You are so close to a stone, we'll be popping the (virtual) champagne (or sparkling water?!) when you get there! Grin

Ellieboolou27 · 01/06/2017 20:34

Well done beyond! As star said your heading for the 1st stone! I've been making bad food choices the last 3 days, but with the girls being ill and bank hol / half term I'm frazzled. They've both had tonsillitis and baby still quite bad so up most of the night, leaving me craving sugar and junk.
star I set myself a target of 1-2 lb a week as in the past I've set myself goals that are beyond my reach and end up giving up by not meeting them. I'm a bit disappointed in myself for the last 3 days of snacking on sweets and not eating proper food but on the other hand I'm in this for the long haul so as long as 3 days doesn't become 3 weeks I know I'll be ok.
lub how are you getting on?

Designerenvy · 01/06/2017 21:26

Thanks Star and we'll do e to you too ! It's a bank holiday here this coming weekend so I know it'll be difficult!
Well done beyond, you're flying it
Hi Ellie sorry to heat the kids were sick. Lack.of sleep is a killer for the cravings and comfort food. You'll be back on track in no time.
I was working today and always find that hard ! There's treats everywhere ! I avoided them but ate more carbs than I should to help the hunger!

MissingPanda · 02/06/2017 18:48

Well done Beyond won't be long before you hit that stone target.

It's not surprising we have weight problems. Kids, jobs, life in general is so busy it's not surprising that we put our food intake towards the bottom of our priorities especially as the stuff that isn't so healthy tastes so good. That doesn't even include the emotional aspects of food.

I was going to start inputting my food into MFP after the holiday because I knew I'd have to get a little stricter after the holidays. So far I've just been concentrating on not eating crap but knew if I wanted to continue losing weight I'd have to watch my calorie intake more closely than I have been doing. I changed my mind and started doing it yesterday to get me into the habit of weighing to give me an idea of potion sizes. I love Morrison's cheese and onion baps and treated myself to some the other day. When I put them into MFP they came up with quite a lot of calories in them which was a bit of a shock. It'll be a while before I eat them again and then it'll be an occasional treat. Consequently yesterday I was above my calorie intake. Luckily today I was below it so over the two days I'm still below the total number. It certainly makes you think about what you're eating.

Ellieboolou27 · 02/06/2017 19:42

Evening all, today has been truly awful food wise, chocolate, crisps, Coke, and to finish it off I've ordered a Chinese Blush
I'm so totally broken with tiredness I feel I need a day off from counting. I'm not even going to weigh myself Monday as I know I'll either have gained or stayed the same and it will set me back if I see that, so will start again tomorrow and weigh Monday week.
panda I'm set to lose 1.5lb per week on mfp and it allows me 1310 but I went over every day last week and still lost 3lb, I think not going over 1500 a day is more important, however the last 3-4 days I've not even tracked as I'd be terrified to see what Ive consumed!

Enjoy your bank holiday design, let's hope the weather is good Grin
