So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Thought I'd share my new cucumber sandwich with you, carb free
One cucumber if your less greedy than me half will do
Peel skin, cut in half lengthways, scoop out all seeds, fill with sliced ham / cream cheese, had it for lunch today with olives and was lovely, I used full fat cheese as no bread Halo

Lubilu28 · 16/05/2017 20:58

That sounds lovely Ellie!! Definitely will be trying that :)

Finding it so hard this week after having a couple of bad days!! I havn't strayed yet and trying to combat the cravings by drinking peppermint tea, but it's not really helping haha could be time of the month 🤔!!

Been extra good today 1300 cals and a good 40 min swim after a full day at work!! Safe to say I am knackered!!

Finding this thread the best, definitely keeping me motivated thanks ladies 👍🏼

Ellieboolou27 · 16/05/2017 21:15

time of the month is a killer, I was meant to start mine on 4th may, still waiting Shock
I'm thinking it may be delayed due to my new healthy eating, my body is not used to such goodness, it's survived on wine, cheese and chocolate for so long it's forgotten to work Smile

MissingPanda · 16/05/2017 21:55

Glad everybody else finds the thread supportive too.

I'm tired too, although the only exercise I've done is the aforementioned c25k and a walk around ASDA, just hope I get a decent sleep tonight.

Star hope you feel better soon.

Designerenvy · 16/05/2017 22:27

Lol ellie.... I think all our bodies are in a bit of shock ! I've had some serious cravings this week and hunger pains too.
lub I hate time of the month, I think I put on anything from 2 to 5 pounds then Angry
I'm weighing myself in the morning. ...fingers crossed Smile

Designerenvy · 17/05/2017 08:04

Weighed myself this morning and the scales hasn't budged Confused....I was good all week except for Saturday. Not sure what I've done wrong. I do feel better in myself but I'd usually lose weight quicker for the first few weeks. Feel disappointed but not giving up !
Hope ye are all good!

BeyondStrongAndStable · 17/05/2017 09:03

Losing weight can mess with periods Ellie, it's cause fat changes the levels of hormones in your blood. So (iirc, it's from memory) on a low fat diet, you can wait ages for a period as the hormone levels drop, but on a high fat diet you can have an early period as hormone levels increase.

Then there's the fact that hormones can mess with weight too. Hormones are pita's! Grin

BeyondStrongAndStable · 17/05/2017 09:03

Oh and I stayed the same this morning, despite being an angel yesterday and meeting all of my goals

StarHeartDiamond · 17/05/2017 09:25

Thanks designer, Ellie and panda Smile

I'm feeling tentatively better this morning.., more energy. Have put makeup on and look almost human instead of like my toddler's been let loose with the crayon box Smile

So far today, I've not eaten anything I shouldn't. Is that good? Wink

Beyond and designer - stay strong, you are doing so well. Your changes will show on the scales very soon! We are all on the right path and it's a good path. I worked out there's 8 weeks until our holiday and every year I hate feeling wobbly by the pool. It would just be so great to be a bit slimmer on hols this year.

What's everyone else's inspiration/motivation? Anyone got a special event coming up?

BeyondStrongAndStable · 17/05/2017 09:28

Yep, camping at a music festival at the beginning of next month. I need to lose some weight or I won't fit in my sleeping bag Grin (seriously - even at my skinniest I have big hips and sleeping bags are not designed for big bummed women!!)

StarHeartDiamond · 17/05/2017 09:31

Ellie - love your cucumber sandwich idea! I could eat cucumber all day. Usually sprinkled with salt and pepper and covered in salad cream which isn't to everyone's taste! Love the cream cheese though, will try that.

Luli - I also find peppermint tea is good for cravings and doesnt it detox as well? Going to put some on my list for the shops today!

Feeling positive today, we can do this!

Designerenvy · 17/05/2017 09:44

Great to hear you're on the mend star.... hopefully you'll feel even better tomorrow!

Yeah, I'm only weighing weekly so I was hoping for a 2 pound loss. I'll have to work extra hard this week. Usually I'd pig out on rubbish at this stage if im not seeimg results but this time I'm just determined not to be beaten....probaby thanks to this thread !
I'm going on hols to London in 6 weeks. Kids have never been so they're excited ( we live in ireland) , I know I don't need to be beach ready but all the same want to look good !

Ellieboolou27 · 17/05/2017 12:04

Holiday in 8 weeks for me, 10 days in lanzarote whoo hoo, want to be one stone lighter at the least!

you will lose even more next week it's disheartening but you are on the right track I'm the slowest loser on here Grin

MissingPanda · 17/05/2017 12:12

Beyond and Designer keep at it. The scales may not have moved today but they could do tomorrow/next week.

Star glad you're feeling a bit better.

I'm going away soon so my initial aim is to lose half a stone which is achievable. I want to carry it on after we come back and lose about 5st in total. Hence why I like this thread so much. I know I'll need the support then for my next goal which will be my birthday. That will be further away than the holiday and I find when I'm aiming for something that's more than a couple of months max it's difficult to stick to it.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 17/05/2017 12:29

It's why I weigh daily, I'd be gutted to go all week being good and stay the same. When it's daily I can acknowledge that it's just fluctuating :)

Designerenvy · 17/05/2017 12:51

Oh ellie lanzarote sounds fab ! It'll be amazing.
panda, thanks for the encouraging words. You'll Def lose that half stone before the hols.
Yes, beyond... I'm seeing that no. Maybe if I weigh more often.... might give it a go !
Having my hair done at the moment. Gone for a change of colour....must be a midlife crises ! Grin.... hope it turn's out OK now!

StarHeartDiamond · 17/05/2017 13:37

Thanks designer and panda, I definitely feel more with it today. Have even cleaned under the bed so I know energy levels are returning!

Music festival sounds exciting, beyond! Yes those sleeping bags have hardly any wiggle room Angry its years since I've been to a festival and when I did I was young and sprightly. feel like such an old gimmer these days. We could go to a kids one but two out of our three kids are bolters, so leaving it until they are much older!

London sounds great, designer, our kids have not been either but definitely going to take them one day. What sights are you planning on seeing when you're there?

Looks like we're on the holiday countdown together Ellie! Have you seen any new costumes or bikinis you like the look of? I like the debenhams ones, last year I got 2 Collection ones with little skirts on which was great for the first few days by the pool especially when bending over taking care of the toddler! Grin

Ellieboolou27 · 17/05/2017 14:03

Will check those costumes out star I'm too afraid of trying any in atm Shock
My legs are ok, the only slim thing on me! It's my tummy, I'm sadly apple shaped, I'd give anything to be a pear Grin not my legs though I've broad shoulders too Sad

StarHeartDiamond · 18/05/2017 08:29

I'm a pear shape but with a bit of boob, I can usually wriggle my top half into stuff but my bottom and legs are chunky. I think apple shapes can wear more day to day stuff because slim legs and bum go a long way in trousers and jeans with a nice top on, whereas my bum & legs look like a sack of spuds in trousers, jeans, shorts and swimming costumes!

Lubilu28 · 18/05/2017 08:35

Soooo after last weekend she blow out I decided to weigh myself and I had gained 2 1/2 lbs! How is that possible?? but I weighed myself this morning and have lost 1lb!! I think it could just be that I drank a lot of alcohol and nothing else and has caused my body to holdback onto extra fluids.

It's a bit disheartening to see the scales go up and this usually makes me want to quit, but I'm not going to!! It's 1 blip, if I give up now I will just get back to where I was and feel miserable!

I need to focus on the way I'm feeling which is 10 times better!! My clothes are already fitting me better so I just need to stay strong 💪

BeyondStrongAndStable · 18/05/2017 09:39

Woohoo - today I am at the same low I reached when I started dieting back in the autumn, with no damn hospital admission to stop me this time (lowest weight was literally the day I went in Grin )

Star, we're taking the kids, so it may well be a nightmare. We'll see... 😬

Ellieboolou27 · 19/05/2017 12:48

lub think if it this way, if you'd not have been dieting then you'd be a stone heavier than you are now. I find when I'm dieting I'm more aware of how big I am and expect to lose weight in a month, when it's taken me 18 months to gain.

I look at it as I've had my kids, in 40 this year so I've now got time to really focus on changing my eating habits and having a normal relationship with food. My scales are locked in my drawer at work and can't weigh myself until I go back on Monday, I was weighing myself too much and becoming obsessed with the numbers rather than how I feel.
3 years ago I lost 3st and looking back on mfp progress I only weighed monthly or every 6 weeks, took me 8 months but I never felt like I was on a diet.

Well done beyond that must feel good. When I get to 12.6 I would have reached one of my mini goals, next one after that 11st 13.

How is everyone getting on?
Weekend is tricky I find but I'm really determined to stick to my calorie allowance this time.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 19/05/2017 17:17

My first goal is to make it to the end of May without going off the wagon. Second one then is to get under 200lbs.

I'm down 10.2 since the beginning of the month, 18lbs to go to get me under 200...

BeyondStrongAndStable · 19/05/2017 17:19

I know exactly what you mean about expecting weight to magically disappear Grin I haven't dropped a dress size yet, but look at it as larger sizes must cover larger weight differences?

Ellieboolou27 · 19/05/2017 18:54

Yes, it all depends on where you shop, the style, and if elastic is in the waistband Grin
I used to be a size 22 in my late teens, now I'm 16/18 but suit a 12/14. Even at my slimmest I was a 14.
My husband has brought home a cheesecake and several large bags doritos Shock
I think it's best I have none as once I get the taste.....
