So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Off to Asda this morning! Will get some! I'm using mfp too but on 1200, maybe that's why I'm always hungry and end up snacking, I've got about 2.5-3 stone to lose so was thinking 1200 was enough, do u mind me asking how much you've got to lose? I'm only 5ft 3 too so very heavy for my height at 13st Shock

I'm 5.9 and I was 13st 8.5lbs when I started and ideally would like to get to 10st 7lbs which I was before I fell pregnant!!

I have a few days were I have 1200 cals a day but I don't try to do that too much as I read that your body can go in to starvation mode and holds onto the weight. Im sure it's more scientific could do with a google?

My husband thinks the fibre one bars taste like cardboard but when ur deprived of all things chocolatey they are amazing!! I try and save mine for when everyone has a dessert so I don't feel left out haha 😂

You've inspired me! I will go for 1400 over the weekend and 1200-1300 during the week.
ive been making excuses and trying to stick to 1200 all the time is too strict for me at the moment. I'm in awe of 11+ lbs in 3 weeks, new day so really going to focus, thank you!

Just completed c25k wk2 d3 so feeling rather pleased with myself. Now for a shower and then I need to go and do that shop I said I'd do yesterday and didn't.

Ellie You might want to start by calculating your Total Daily Energy Expenditure - that's you Basal Metabolic Rate (the amount of calories you use through breathing, thinking, digestion, etc.) plus daily activity.

I've chosen this calculator for you because it's got a good description (in the lefthand column) of what the different "activity levels" mean.

Then in MFP reduce your TDEE calories by 500/day for 1lb loss/week or 1000/day for 2lb loss/week. Don't forget to add any daily excerise calories into MFP so you can have another extra snack, etc. :)

Lol Ellie ! I know I can't quite believe it myself. Ds1 (12) was always an early riser. He used to wake at 5am til he was 5. Then moved on to 6/ 7 am.....now it's a shouting match to get him up in the mornings 😂! I'm not complaining....I love my bed !

Stayed on track at the BBQ apart from sharing half a slice of birthday cake with my sister. Quit happy with that, calories were still under 1000 for the day :)

Weigh the same as Friday, so still a running loss of -8lb

I weighed myself this morning. A day early but as I have to leave the house at 6.30 tomorrow morning I wouldn't remember to do it then so did it this morning instead. Anyway I'm 15 stone exactly, another 2lb down, very happy about that. I aimed for half a stone by second week in June so well on the way to achieving my short term target.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Well done panda I was hoping to be in the 12's tomorrow, however I've been going over my calories by around 200 for the last 3 days, feel a bit down about it, a lot to do with not planning enough and staying up too late in the evenings I'm addicted to suits on Netflix, but only because Gabriel match is in it Grin

What time do you all eat your main meal in the evening? I'm trying to eat with kids but they eat at 5-5.30 and I'm starving by 8 so end up snacking!

I have my main meal at lunchtime, then a small meal at about 4/5 ish. Then I fast til breakfast the next morning at about 8. Was hard to start (I'm a big evening snacker) but having nothing is easier than trying to have something small. Tends to make me hungrier the more I eat!!

I know exactly what you mean! If I have say 150 calories left I start thinking what can I eat, once I start I can't stop.

Evenings are a huge issue for me, it's the evening / nighttime snacking that's hindering me, I'm like a saint all day!
I've got to get to bed earlier too, last night was 1.30am

Good morning everyone. I've a bit of a headache after the wine last night but it's worth it ! Had a good laugh. Maybe I should get the take away the next time cos the food slows down the alcohol consumption. Haven't had a hangover in years but can safely say I have one today Blush. Had a good few nibbles too, so need to start fresh today but I dont feel like eating or doing much.... .
Well done beyond.... tb as ts great will power.
Panda, that's fab, another 2 pounds, you're well on your way.
Ellie, I've gone over too a lot of days ( majorly yesterday)... but it's still a lot better than I'd have been eating before I started this iykwim. Hoping I'll see a drop on wed too 🙏

Deisgner, if it helps, when I've been dieting and had a few drinks, I have a babybel before I go to bed. That seems to help and they're under 100cals

Hey ladies!! Well I had a fantastic night out, way too many cocktails but I think all the dancing made up for it!! And then the Maccys at 3am ruined it again 😂! Hungover like I've never been before and the only thing I feel I need is food so gonna get back on track with the diet tomorrow!! It was definitely worth the break :)

Ah that's great lub....well deserved ! I'm fairly bate today too but trying to be good but can't muster up the energy for a walk or anything.

I've had either sleeps or 8.30pm finishes at work in the last week. By the time I get home it's just after 9pm and the trip home includes a 15 min fast walk which puts me in a healthy frame of mind so less likely to snack. I have had a couple of evenings since I started where I ate something but it was toast one night and a banana the other so not too bad. My real test will come when I have afternoon finishes.

Beyond you're a stronger person than I am.

Designer and Lubi glad you both had a good time. Hope the hangovers have gone.

Ellie Panda used to love going for a walk. If I opened the door for her to go in the garden when it was raining she'd look at me as if I was mad. If I got her lead she'd jump all over the place in excitement...go figure Hmm

Star.... too much wine last night and bistro crisps and some bacon flavoured snack things. ...didn't even like them but ate a lot of them !
Today I've been OK with calorie intake but it's been all the wrong food .....comfort ones like white toast dripping in butter.
