So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Stayed the same this morning, calories were fine yesterday but didn't reach my step goal as I was asleep for half of the day Grin

MissingPanda · 11/05/2017 14:28

Well done Designer 5lb is brilliant.

Beyond congratulations on your half a stone.

Elephant your fajitas sound lovely.

My problem with cooking with fresh ingredients is that they tend to go off before I get to use them up. I'll be doing a big shop tomorrow because we haven't got much in but the next time I'll be cooking at home is next Thursday. I don't drive so sometimes stopping off somewhere can be a pain. I'm not the best of cooks but I would like to start cooking more from scratch so I'll have to get myself organised with menus so I can organise what fresh ingredients I need and when to avoid wasting them.

Carry on resisting everyone and remember occasionally falling off the band waggon won't be a problem so long as you get straight back on.

MissingPanda · 11/05/2017 14:31

Forgot to say I completed c25k wk2 d2 today. I found it slightly easier that d1 so that's got to be a good thing.

Ellieboolou27 · 11/05/2017 14:56

Me too! Very high one minute the next feeling low, I am 7 days late for period, not pregnant thank god
I am going to try going to bed earlier, thing is, i have no time to myself apart from when kids in bed so end up staying up late, then getting hungry.
Having fish and chips again for dinner, I make my chips homemade slimming world style.

Designerenvy · 11/05/2017 17:31

Thanks Panda. There's some very simple recipes out there but still need to be organised and have a bit of time. I think that's the main trick with diets/ healthy eating and the main reason I usually slip back into my old habits Blush
Sound's nice Ellie! I love fish and chips.
Beyond, I'm sure you'll notice a drop in a few days again. You're flying it !
I'm having a chorizo pasta dish tonight for dinner you wouldn't find it in any diet book, cream and chorizo, not so healthy. I'll have a small portion and bulk it up with salad. Kids live it and dh is away so it's an easy option.

Designerenvy · 11/05/2017 17:35

I'm with you on the early nights Ellie need a few now too. Hope you're period arrives soon cos I always have fierce pmt when I'm late !

BeyondStrongAndStable · 11/05/2017 17:57

Didn't really fancy proper food for dinner, so I just had strawberries, banana and ff Greek yoghurt. Now I'm having a little bag of popcorn while I watch tv - calories coming in at 850 :)

Not done enough steps again today (a pitiful 1078) as been working. But will do my best to get my count up a bit before sleep...

likeababyelephant · 11/05/2017 20:03

Today's food diary:

B- mixed berry compote, natural yoghurt, oats and chia & flax seeds

Starbucks latte from supermarket

Snack- 2 kids size boxes of raisins

L- red pepper pesto chicken with spinach, red onion and cherry toms (salad)

Snack- 1 scoop strawberry frozen yogurt

Filter coffee w/1 tsp brown sugar

D- leftover fajitas x2

And a few pieces of DDs raisins.

Did level 2 of the 30 day shred. Couldn't keep up but I completed it and I was sweating like pig afterwards.

Keep up the good work guys Smile

StarHeartDiamond · 11/05/2017 21:21

Everyone's food sounds lovely! Mine is so basic. I always want double portions of anything fancy so it's counter productive for me... sigh.. back to the jacket spud.

Designerenvy · 11/05/2017 22:18

Star, most of my food this time around is normal, everyday stuff. I think if I keep it simple this time and less complicated I might just stick at it .

StarHeartDiamond · 11/05/2017 22:39

Yes, that's my plan too designer! Grin

Heading into snacking territory... I really should just go to bed but I'm 2/3 of the way through a saved program I want to see the end of! After 11pm I just want to throw caution out and snack, it's so silly, undoing the good effort of the day! I will resist Grin

Designerenvy · 11/05/2017 22:54

You can resist !

StarHeartDiamond · 12/05/2017 10:40

Morning! How are we all doing today? Does anyone have any events to navigate diet-wise this weekend?

LapCatLicker · 12/05/2017 11:21

Hello everyone, StarHeart,
babyelephant thank you for the fajita recipe, I will try that tomorrow.

Coconut carrot lentil soup:
I estimate amounts but generally 2 carrots, 1 cup lentils, 1 onion, 2 cloves garlic, 1/2 courgette, 750ml to 1L water, veg or chicken stock cube(s).
Chop carrots, onions and courgette and fry in whichever oil takes your fancy (I use coconut oil as I'm trying to avoid PUFAs) add the lentils, stock and water.
let bubble for 30 min.
Blend and eat!
It's got a fair bit of fat but it's good fat and very filling so you can get through the day.

Speaking of navigating events I went to the Take That concert in Glasgow last night. We had an Aldi's cider on the train in (classy) and we stopped at a Wetherspoons and had burgers with chips and onion rings for dinner. Then, after getting the last train home I had a cup of tea and a large handful of chocolate digestive nibbles at 1am while watching an episode of Girls. I should have just gone to bed but I was still buzzing and thought this would be a good idea at the time.
However, I resisted glasses of wine throughout the night and I'm planning on a healthy, no alcohol, no eating out weekend. Onwards and upwards!

Oh, and I cycled to work Mon, Tues, Wed. 15 minutes each way, steep uphill at either end of the journey.

Lubilu28 · 12/05/2017 12:47

I've got a pretty bad weekend coming up!! It's my first proper night out since my son was born 14 months ago!! I'm gonna try and eat well but I'm not holding out on the cocktails!! I've been looking forward to this weekend for months and u need a little break haha
I'm weighing myself in the morning and then I have all next week to try and rectify the damage 🙈

Designerenvy · 12/05/2017 14:13

HI star. Not a whole lot happening this weekend for me. Dh away, so I have a friend calling over tomorrow night. We usually get take away a bottle of wine but I've asked her could we just have the wine....it's all about priorities Wink
I'll eat with the kids earlier and have a glass or two of wine. She was happy out with the arrangements cos she's being good too.
How about you? Any plans ?

Designerenvy · 12/05/2017 14:16

Hi lap and lub, that concert sounds fab....you can't go to a concert without a few treats !
Lou, enjoy the night out and start fresh Sunday. Good luck with the weigh in !

BeyondStrongAndStable · 12/05/2017 14:16

Hi all!

Yep, I have a family BBQ tomorrow. Pretty much just salad for me there, as I'm off meat, bread and alcohol!! Grin

Designerenvy · 12/05/2017 14:18

Oh by the way, loving MFP....it's fab !

Designerenvy · 12/05/2017 14:20

Beyond, enjoy the bbq....I'm sure they'll have some lovely salads too. Fair play to u staying off meat, bread and alcohol....that's great will power you have !

StarHeartDiamond · 12/05/2017 15:09

Lapcat - take that in concert are fab! I should think you burned off a lot of calories dancing in your seat, plus all that cycling... wow! I love cycling and can cycle forever in flat, but struggle with hills. Good going! Star

Luli - wow, 14 months is a long time to wait! Hope you have a fantastic time and enjoy your cocktails! Wine Gin

Beyond - Sounds like you're in a good mindset for sticking to your plan for the BBQ! I love salads so I'd be happy (as long as there is some kind of dressing or salad cream, perhaps I'm more a condiments fan than salad fan!) Grin

Designer - great plan re prioritising the wine Wink perhaps you could still have some snacks if you're not doing the takeaway? Popcorn and pretzels are not too bad.

A quiet weekend for me, but over the next few weekends there's two family parties, a lunch with friends and going away for half term so I'm making the most of the quiet time to concentrate on the diet as it's always harder when you're around other people to do it! I wouldn't buy a cake for myself when I'm a diet, but if someone offers it to me, I have a hard time saying no...

Lubilu28 · 12/05/2017 21:27

Tell me about it star!! You just feel obliged to eat cake if someone has made a special effort to buy/make it, how can you say no?!!

And yes a very long time! Definitely a very much needed night out 😁

Lubilu28 · 13/05/2017 06:09

Morning ladies I hope everyone is ready to battle through another weekend!!

Just weighed myself and I've lost 3lbs this week. A total of 11 1/4lbs off in 3 weeks!! I just hope tonight doesn't ruin my losing streak 🙈

Ellieboolou27 · 13/05/2017 06:39

Morning all, that's fantastic lubilu almost a stone, what diet plan are you doing again?
I've been ok diet wise this week but find myself wanting to snack more, difficult weekend ahead, lunch so pub with family today and tomorrow invited to dinner with friends, who also happens to be one of the best cooks I know!
Will try and fit in a cycle or swim today too.

Lubilu28 · 13/05/2017 07:06

I'm just calorie counting using MFP and I swim twice a week and do a workout DVD a couple of times a week, but I have slacked a bit this week with the DVD!! I try and stick to 1400 calories or less. I try not to snack but if I do I only have fruit, low fat yogurts and healthy cereal bars!! Also if I really need a little chocolate fix I have a chocolate brownie fibre one bar!! They are incredible, if u havnt tried them yet they are on offer in Asda for £1.39 instead of £2.89!!! Xxx
