So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

design I'm with you! Bloated and irritated and wanting a fry up with tea and chocolate biscuits, and I've not even started yet, just raging pmt

BeyondStrongAndStable · 09/05/2017 10:32

My 'treat' atm is to eat an entire punnet of strawberries to myself Grin

Ellieboolou27 · 09/05/2017 11:47

🍓 Enjoy 😊

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 12:16

Ooh good idea beyond! I love watermelon, but due to fridge space constraints I usually get pre-prepared and sometimes it's a bit mushy. The honeydew and cantaloupe slices are usually great though.

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 12:19

Ellie - stay strong! The tea and biscuits and fry up sound fab,but if you ate them you'd feel worse than before and still have pmt! Food is such a temporary problem solver. I have had that "sod it" feeling so many times but it's so depressing waking up an extra 2lbs on.

Ellieboolou27 · 09/05/2017 13:06

Thanks star, I held out and had houmous and veg sticks, I think I'm so hungry as I'm bored at work too and food is my favourite thing to think about Grin

MissingPanda · 09/05/2017 13:20

Well done Ellie for resisting. I always find I feel better if I manage to resist something. Much better than the guilt when I give in which has inevitably led to me giving up and eating even.more junk.

Just had a ham sandwich on wholemeal (small bread) and a banana. I've had water to drink. I have a filter jug at home and we have one at work so it's easy to pour a glass and drink it.

Have to clean the bedroons now so hopefully will work off a bit more weight.

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 13:21

Star well done Ellie! Don't let your 1lb loss slip away, tomorrow it could be another 1lb off and so on.

I know what you mean about nibbling because of being bored at work. Maybe get in a punnet of grapes? (Hardly the same thing I know, but good to snack on, you can get "into" them surprisingly quickly!

Whenever I get started on a new eating plan, it can take a good week if not two before my body gets used to not calling on the biscuit barrel or the cereal box every time. But it does change, your body adapts to less sugar and it gets easier. Honestly Smile

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 13:24

That sounds a lovely lunch, panda! I've a stack of ironing to do so I'll be thinking if you Smile Going to watch some repeats on telly whilst I do it. Shameless miss marple fan here!

sallywiththegoodhurr · 09/05/2017 13:32

Can I join please?
I was losing weight successfully last year but injured myself and stopped going to gym then the take always crept back in.. you know how it goes. I had lost 1.5 stone of 3.5 but I'm now heavier than ever and need to lose 5 stone.

I'm going to try the 8 week blood sugar diet (low carb works for me) and today is day 1.

I'm 5ft 4 and 13st6

LapCatLicker · 09/05/2017 13:35

You're all going to think this is bonkers but I have just had a sausage roll (lovely gourmet one with chorizo and tomato) with salad and consider this progress in my weight loss journey. I usually have a giant pate sandwich with a big bowl of salty lentil soup and either a bag of crisps or a chocolate bar.
I'm finding that sparkling water holds my interest enough to help me avoid snacking and helps with hydration.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 09/05/2017 13:36

Well done Ellie!

Sally, I'm 9 days in to the BSD - it's going well :) just had paneer and coconut curry for my lunch

Designerenvy · 09/05/2017 18:09

Welcome Sally ! You did it before so you know you can do.it again !
Thanks star and Ellie, I snapped put of that self pity mode after I had breakfast Grin.... still craving and bloated but holding tough....so far !
Well done to everyone resisting the temptations !

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 18:14

Lapcat - That is definitely a step in the right direction! Breaking your usual habits is a good place to start.

Could you make your own lentil soup and take it in? There's some amazing lentil soup recipes online. Swap your pate sandwich for a wholemeal roll with houmous, ham and salad and you're nearly there Smile

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 18:34

And welcome Sally! Smile

Designer - keep holding tight! You're doing so well. I know it's tempting to cave, but we all know that the nice bit of caving in only lasts for the 5 minutes it takes to eat rubbish, then there's usually some regrets if trying to lose weight not put more on.

I recommend options hot choc (old hat I know, but it's better than nothing!) it can take the rough edge off a craving at least.

Ellieboolou27 · 09/05/2017 18:52

Held out and now feel good after eating my homemade vegetable biriyani.
I've a great recipient for lentil soup.
I don't measure anything.
One mug red lentils - washed
1 sweet potatoe
1 or 2 carrots
2 sticks celery
1/2 or 1 onion
Chicken or veg stock
Chop veg and fry in little oil, add lentils, stock, simmer about 20-30 mins and blend.
Lots black pepper it's low fat and freezes well.
We've all done good today, thanks for all the support ladies Smile

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 19:05

That looks amazing Ellie, I will be making it tomorrow! And well done for today.

Designerenvy · 09/05/2017 19:27

Thanks Star...totally forgot abut options, I'll buying them tomorrow, they saved me on a few occasions in the past !
That soup sounds yum Ellie. Will be definitely trying it .
Weighing in in the morning. ....I low I'm so bloated so not expecting too much loss, but hopefully it'll show next wk if I keep up the good work !

sallywiththegoodhurr · 09/05/2017 19:48

My partner has bought me sweets and wine Hmm I'm starting to see where the weight came from... I WILL RESIST I WILL RESIST

LapCatLicker · 09/05/2017 20:07

Thanks for the recipe ellie that looks lovely and I have all of that on hand!

Designerenvy · 09/05/2017 20:16

Oh no Sally. Stay strong !

Ellieboolou27 · 09/05/2017 20:53

sally hide it, out it in the boot of the car, resist! You can do it!

lap it's really lovely, even my lentil hating dh has it, I use about a pint of stock, just enough to cover veg / lentils by about an inch.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 09/05/2017 21:07

Very good day here, went to my mums for dinner and resisted loads of yummy things. Roast lamb, roast potatoes, chocolate cake and pink custard - I had veggie sausages with veg and gravy, then an apple 😇

Step goal also met :)

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 21:48

Woohoo beyond!! That is some good going! Star just think to yourself that you can always have those foods another time. It's deferred, that's all Smile.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate pink custard though. Your mum is a legend!

Designerenvy · 09/05/2017 22:56

I've never had pink custard but I think I'd like it....yum!
