So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

^^ There is the science bit! Grin

pinkieandperkie · 08/05/2017 10:42

Thanks, I now understand water weightSmile

MissingPanda · 08/05/2017 10:51

Star Grin

I'll read that later. I knew about the first loss being mainly water but not the science behind it.

C25k wk2 d1 completed. I felt like I was dying on that last 90 seconds but I did it. It shows just how unfit I am Blush no wonder I couldn't do the 20 mins of the shred without a break.

Ellieboolou27 · 08/05/2017 10:59

I did 30 day shred it's brilliant for shaping up I might dig it out again.
I've discovered turkey sausages from Sainsbury's, only 166 cals for 2 and they are so nice, got them for lunch and fish pie for dinner.

Loubilou09 · 08/05/2017 11:43

Well done everyone!!! Done great losses there! Good today is going to be

B - omelette
L - soup
D- chicken and courgetti
Snacks - square of dark chocolate

Loubilou09 · 08/05/2017 11:44

"Some" great losses not "done"

I still don't know why mumsnet doesn't have an edit button.....

369thegoosedrankwine · 08/05/2017 11:49

Well done to everyone who has lost.

I am travelling for 3 days and find it really hard to eat well but going to do my best and walk loads and gym it a bit. I feel like I've lost more as I feel more toned.

Keep having to remind myself this is a marathon not a sprint...

LapCatLicker · 08/05/2017 17:18

Good job all those who have lost this week.

I did my definitive start weigh-in this morning before breakfast and I am, gulp, 14.7st Blush .
I'm going to do no alcohol this week and next (baby steps) and then no alcohol and no chocolate/cakes/etc from June onwards and see if that doesn't shift some pounds. It's exam time at my work so the junk food is coming in thick and fast and it's very hard to resist (I'm talking to you chocolate filled doughnut Angry)

What does everyone snack on that fills you up without being hugely calorific?

StarHeartDiamond · 08/05/2017 17:45

Lapcat - I like chocolate rice cakes (large round snack a jacks) and go ahead biscuits. Also special k type bars are good.

My top tip is only buy snacks you don't truly love, because if you have those in that you really love around, you'll probably eat them all in which case you might as well have had a chocolate doughnut Smile

Ellieboolou27 · 08/05/2017 17:53

lap I don't snack or at least I try not too, if I do I like rice cakes with a dairy lea triangle light and some olives which is about 80 cals and quite satisfying, tbsp low fat humour and carrots, cup a soup, boiled eggs

Ellieboolou27 · 08/05/2017 17:54

Houmous!!! Grin

honeyroar · 08/05/2017 19:29

Lap, since giving up sugar/processed food I find that grapes are my treat, and if I really need filling up I have full fat Greek yoghurt with them. Seems to massively starve off cravings.

Lubilu28 · 08/05/2017 19:34

cravings have well and truly kicked in tonight!! Having a peppermint tea to try and help but I'm afraid the Nutella is calling me 🙈

Ellieboolou27 · 08/05/2017 20:19

lubilu Nutella cannot be in my house, I had a 1kg jar and it just vanished Grin
Have a teaspoon and put washing up liquid in the rest and bin it!
Nothing tastes as good as slim feels

Designerenvy · 08/05/2017 21:08

Lubilu.....step away from the Nutella !!!.... I have major cravings today too. Drinking lots of water to try to feel full..... early to bed for me cos I can't eat when I'm asleep ! ......

Lubilu28 · 08/05/2017 21:15

My will power is quite strong at the moment so I can resist 😁!! Yer good idea on the filling up on water!! Ellie I just can't face putting washing up liquid in Nutella 😱 But ur right it's just too tempting having it in the cupboard next to the crumpets!!

ButtonLoon · 09/05/2017 07:34

Become allergic to Nutella like I have. All desire for it destroyed by the thought of an itching throat. :(

Seriously though, I can't have dark chocolate around or it mysteriously disappears... same with marshmallows, but that's my husband. Grin

BeyondStrongAndStable · 09/05/2017 08:07

I don't buy Nutella or I'd eat it on its own Grin
Just the cheap value equivalent for the kids - and that is tempting enough!!

Down 0.8lbs this morning, so very nearly re-lost that 1lb :)

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 08:23

Button - do you carry an epipen for your nut allergy? That sounds serious stuff.

Beyond - great job fur being down on the scales this morning!

Luli - good for resisting the Nutella! You're made of stronger stuff than me! Grin I can't have that stuff in the house!

6 lb down today, can see a little bit of difference but not loads. I guess it comes off in places you don't think about, like chin & neck, whereas I am always looking at my bottom and wishing it would get smaller!!

ButtonLoon · 09/05/2017 08:38

Star - not officially diagnosed yet, but definite allergic reaction to almonds and hazelnuts. (Might be a hayfever-type allergy called Oral Allergy Syndrome which rarely needs an epipen.) I just avoid all nuts except my ones I know are safe - cashews and peanuts.

Ellieboolou27 · 09/05/2017 09:13

Morning all, I was a Halo yesterday so feeling good smug
With me it takes a stone or more before I start seeing the difference, only 13 more pounds to go then Grin

Designerenvy · 09/05/2017 09:26

Well done beyond! I'm not a nutella fan, thankfully but definitely a crisps and chocolate fan Grin
Strated time of month today so feeling really bloated and my form is awful..... wish I cld spend the day in bed and just let this day go ! Everything's annoying me , the dog is barking and I swear I nearly cried earlier with frustration. Usually I'd reach for the chocolate to console me but can't today....that's probably the real problem Wink

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 09:36

Designer - I fill up on squash (no added sugar) I know it's not as good as plain water but at least I drink more of it than I would do water, so it's better then nothing! Grin

StarHeartDiamond · 09/05/2017 09:39

Aw designer Sad I usually get a new bubble bath, or nail varnish or something like that to cheer myself up when I can't reach for the chocolate. Something a bit pampering.
